This is intriguing. What, most likely evil, race could they represent?

I'm guessing Frost Giants or Dark Elves.

My instant guess was Frost Giants but we'll have to wait and see.

Would frost giants really require prosthetics or that the actor be 6'2"? They could just get a couple of guys in mocap suits and their height wouldn't matter.
I'm thinking Dark Elves

I got it...but I'm good on the cookie. I remember "The Warriors" when it first came out. I remember 'Ajax' who later went on to play Richard on "Sex in the City" that my wife watched, and lately he's voiced one of the chefs in "Ratatouille" which my son loves.

Could be trolls as well.
Asgard is basically is a Norse fantasy realm separated by geography and magic. It has Trolls, Dwarves, Light and Dark Elves, Giants, Daemons, and undead. Warriors are bound to come in many shapes and sizes.

Thor himself stated that "The Dark Elves were always frail warriors." They are tall (Malekith is 6'9") but comparatively weak so given the casting call description it's most likely some other race.

Good ol' Algrim must've been an extremely unusual Dark Elf, then. Dude was almost strong enough to match Thor even before he was turned into Kurse.

Algrim was a big beefy brute of an elf which makes him an anomaly, hence his epithet. Even then, Thor didn't seem too impressed by his strength...

Kind of explains why his boss opened the pitfall a few seconds later.
