I guess he's waiting to see what Marvel comes up with as far as the script is concerned, can't blame him.

Yeah, he just doesn't want to be a part of a "crappy" movie, I get that. It's cool he's waiting for a script first to see if it's something he wants to do. I'm sure whatever Marvel does will be good and he'll jump right on it.

There is nothing new with this article. He wants to see the script. Plain and simple. From all of his comments, this is what I can infer about his position: If the script is good, and Marvel wants me back, I'll be happy to come back. This is all there is to it. He already has ideas in his head about what could happen. He just wants to see it crystallized in a (pseudo)final form. And I am convinced that he has his own ideas about where to take the individual story arc of the Hulk. A misleading article, this is.

Well he did right a good chuck of TIH, so I'm assuming he has many ideas of another Hulk film, and if they bring those ideas into The Avengers, I'm sure Norton would be pleased.

Do you think Norton is saying, "If you want me involved, I have to write and produce it and I DEFINITELY want final cut this time" ???

if the Avengers goes in the direction I suspect it might, I wouldn't imagine Banner having that big of a role, but, you never know

That reminds me that while I hope that all the actors and previous directors have their input, at the same time I hope this movie doesn't end up with too many cooks spoiling the broth. When watching behind-the-scenes footage and reading articles, you can tell that during TIH Letterier and Norton were running the operation from all angles (you even see them standing side by side looking at the designs and making judgment calls as the producers watch on), and during Iron Man 2 Favreau and Downey are on top of things, even coming up with the story together. So Marvel may need to be a little more controlling this time around.

It seems with all the other movies they met with the directors and actors, discussed what they wanted to do to make sure they were on the same page (unlike their co-productions where the studios hired any hot new actor and generic blockbuster director) and them let them do the rest as they kind of kept watch from behind glass, giving their input and advice once in a while, then coming in at the end to make final calls on the film.

Either way I hope Norton comes back. He played a better Bruce Banner than Eric Bana ever did. Nice to hear that he'd be open to return if the script is decent.

If Norton doesn't come back my expectations will take a serious kick-back and I probably won't hype the film until there is an amazing trailer. Don't care how good Iron Man 2 turns out. But I have seen nothing from Norton that tells me he loathed playing Banner and could care less about the role. If anything he seems willing to return.

I'll say. I caught AngHulk on Sci-Fi the other day for the first time since its release and there was this scene in the beginning where he's thinking about a time where he was taking pictures with Betty or something and Bana looked like he was in a sketch when they put a huge guy in little kids' clothes. Dressed all nerdy with his hair parted, just didn't seem right. Banner's supposed to be a total nerd and Bana's this big Australian dude who looks like a rugby player. He did his best with the role, but he just didn't fit right at all to me.

Whereas Norton has that duality and carries that sense of nerdiness, yet responsibility to keep things under control. I actually picture Edward Norton in real life how he was as Banner as I do picture Robert Downey Jr. in real life as Stark.

Yeah, Ed Norton is Bruce Banner. He totally nailed it.

So if Norton doesn't come back then this movie will suck balls?

Probably not, but it'd hurt the so-far-awesome-and-very-promising Marvel Movieverse for many of us.

As big a fan as I am of Norton I wouldn't lose sleep if Banner wasn't in this. It's not vital for him to be in it though i would like to see Hulk but again not necessary.
