Is Ghostbusters any good?

Yeah, it's pretty good, especially if you're a fan of the movies. $9.99 is a freaking steal, too

Or at least, I should be downloading, but apparently, I'm not connected to the Internet.

Awesome sail, the THQ pack was :wow: makes you realize how good Steam is, only way forward & stops Piracy for the most part (online anyway, people get past singleplayer) I mean who else does a deal like Team Fortress for £2.49 during Halloween over a period of a few hours 3x in a week :word:

Man, I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. I haven't checked Steam in a while. I picked up The Secret of Monkey Island, Mirror's Edge, and The Chronicles of Riddick games for under $20.

Thanks, Kez. Norton was blocking Steam from connecting to the net. I went ahead and bought Empire: Total War along with Ghostbusters. Unfortunately, I'll be at work all day & night tomorrow! I think I'm going to be a total recluse this weekend...

Theres another one.

75% off GTA4, not too shabby. Quad core only though, don't even think about purchasing if you own a duel core.

Jesus, those are some ridiculous prices. Looks like I'm finally gonna get Braid and possible GTA4 (even though I've already played it on my 360).
Wow thanks for tip, Champions Online is only £9. I've been itching to try it since I didn't mind City Of Heroes/Villians when they where first released.. the steep price of £24.99 had put me off but I'll definatly give it a blast now I think.
Question, if I buy off Steam direct is it download only? ie no disc?
As I've just had a wee look & amazon has Champions for £9 also with a disc..
TheCorpulent1
12-23-2009, 12:48 PM
Yep, Steam only does downloads.
Meh, I think I'll leave it then.. I'll buy the disc version as opposed to the download only.
TheCorpulent1
12-23-2009, 12:53 PM
I prefer it, personally. Provided Steam never catastrophically fails, it's just as good as a disc.
I don't mind download only for things like itunes or amazon music, but for something like a movie or game.. I'd prefare to have a disc.
I don't know why though.. perhaps I am a looney.
EDIT - The difference to get a physical copy of the game is only 50p as well.. :-/

I believe you can back games up to disk but you actually need to connect to steam in order to use them.
Operation Flashpoint 2, it's terrible, at 90% off stalker good value if you purchase it this is a very good mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 lots of minor game improvements and graphics become updated.
I hate Steam to be honest, I've had to install 3 games through their product & all 3 times I've had problems with it recognising codes..downloading patches etc etc
I've downloaded the Champions Online demo & the thing doesn't want to launch for some reason, icon appears in bottom right corner, champions online tab appears to be running in the start bar however nothing ever comes up..

I think you are probably the exception,
I've bought 176 games and never had a problem, come to think of it, it would be a good idea to back them up.
Perhaps if I bought the games through steam they'd have no trouble installing or running but seeing as it took me a few hours to install Football Manager 2009 & Modern Warfare 2, I don't even wanna risk paying through them until I get something that works 1st time.
For some bizzare reason the Champions Online demo worked as soon as I tried it today... perhaps the PC sensed I had, had enough & was about to delete the sucker.
Its a bizzare game, much like the WoW demo I find it overly complicated to get into. I tried the City of Heroes demo originally & it was so easy to pick up & get straight into the game. This seems quite complicated & a lack of travel power from the start is highly irratatating.
Looks like I'll wait for the DC Online game

I picked up STALKER, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Torchlight, Indigo Prophecy, and Braid all for about $25. I may even be forgetting a game or two in there. Steam's sales are so great. :awesome:

It's good to see Activation cut there $10 more than the average pc game Modern Warfare 2 from $39.99 to, $39.99.

I f'n hate Holiday sales. They always sucker in my ****ty wallet.
Just spent $125 on games, mostly from games I missed out on. Looks like I'll be spending most of my Christmas break inside. :o

I'm visiting family right now, but I'm gonna have to see what sales are still on when I get back home. I got a $50 gift card that I can use anywhere for Christmas and it just occurred to me that I could totally use it on Steam. Maybe I'll pick up Left 4 Dead 2 while it's still got a bit of a discount on it.

Prey's a pretty underrated game.
TheCorpulent1
12-28-2009, 05:32 PM
It's also sold out, apparently. Valve ran out of keys. :o
I just bought Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box for about $8, even though I already have BP for my 360. I was missing some DLC for it, though, and the entire game under the sale cost about as much as the DLC I'm missing.
Have I mentioned that I love Steam?

Thats good, I think prey got pretty crappy sales when it first came out.
It kinda just looked like doom 3 but the game-play is far better, hopefully they put it on sale again. I purchased Burnout Paradise also, very odd keyboard mapping.
Edit: After looking it up it actually got 1 million units sold. :o

I can use my 360 controller with my PC. It's great for pretty much any kind of game I buy on Steam other than FPSes.

A friend of mine has spent an insane amount of money in this sale so far. I'd hate to see how much he spends before it's over!

I keep spending like $10 or $20 on a few of the games on sale each day, but I'm sure it's adding up to a ridiculous amount. I keep telling myself that I'll just deposit the money I got for Christmas to make up for it, but I think I'm over that amount already. Still, at like $3 to $10 on some of these games, it's kind of worth it. Steam's got good sales all the time, but sales like this don't come around too often.

That is true. I reckon Steam does the best sales around. Earlier in the year, I got The Orange Box off them for about a fiver, and I've been playing it ever since. It's just awesome. Then I managed to get stuff like Half Life: Blue Shift, and stuff like that for about a quid each. Absolute bargain.

Street Fighter IV's a good game but only worth getting if you own a 360 pad.
Capcom ports in general have been good recently.

Nothing good for me today. Shattered Horizon seemed interesting until I saw that it was a primarily multiplayer game. I don't want to deal with people when I'm playing video games.

Shattered Horizon looks pretty generic barring the gravity thing.

That doesn't bother me. I'd prefer to see one idea done really well on an otherwise unremarkable game than a bunch of ideas done half-heartedly.

Far Cry 2 and many Ubisoft games would probably agree with that point of view. Although I personaly get the same-old-same-old with a lot of games these days. Call Of Duty is good at what it does but once you see it for the 3rd - 6th time it's bag of tricks runs a bit dry.
I bought Devil May Cry 4, it's more of a console game but runs ridiculously well, doesn't seem to drop below 60fps.
Same With Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, Capcoms games are extremely well optimized.

I'm bored with most of today's games. But I enjoy the FPS genre on a pretty pure level, I guess, because I can always pop in the current Halo or Valve shooter and enjoy it, even if it's not really breaking any new ground. Although Valve is subtle about their breakthroughs, which is half the joy of playing some of their games.

Decent deal today, bought Red Alert 3 and Trine.
I got Trine and Morrowind: GOTY. I have Morrowind and its expansions already, but I like to play it again from time to time and it'll be easier if it's right on Steam.

Heya,
Besides the ones I had already, this is what I picked up. Some of 'em are for my wife, so don't blame me for the "Girly games," that you see. Hehe. Lemme tell ya, it broke the bank, literally, but couldn't pass it up at all. This is in my "Days," not as the sales went, BTW. =)
I already own:
1) Torchlight
2) X - Com Pack
3) Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Plat
4) Plants Vs. Zombies
Day 1:
Zombie Bowl-O-Rama 0.99 USD
Bookworm Adventures Deluxe 7.49 USD
Multiwinia + Darwinia 2.99 USD
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 13.59 USD
World in Conflict: Complete 9.99 USD
Subtotal 35.05 USD
Day 2:
Morrowind Game of the Year 4.99 USD
Subtotal 4.99 USD
Day 3:
Chocolatier: Decadence by Design 4.99 USD
Rome: Total War Gold 2.49 USD
Miss Popularity 4.99 USD
Perimeter 2 5.99 USD
AI War: Fleet Command 9.99 USD
Subtotal 28.45 USD
I almost got X3 and such, but I heard the learning curve is high, and I'm starting school again so I don't need that stress-er to learn a game. hehe.

I bought a lot of games.

Indigo Prophecy 3.39 USD
Time Gentlemen, Please! 2.49 USD

Torchlight 9.99 USD (Missed the sale on this one, unfortunately.)
12/27

Dead Space 10.19 USD
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky (ROW) 4.99 USD
12/28

12/29
Jade Empire 3.75 USD

Splintercell: Chaos Theory 4.99 USD
1/1
Mass Effect 4.99 USD
Big Brain Wolf 4.99 USD
Splinter Cell 4.99 USD
Lucidity 4.99 USD
1/2
Morrowind Game of the Year 4.99 USD
Trine 4.99 USD
1/3
Left 4 Dead 2 33.49 USD
Call of Cthulhu 14.99 USD
Ghost Master 1.00 USD
Grand Theft Auto IV (US/AU) 7.49 USD
Grand Total: $153.64 (minus about $75 in holiday gift cards and money.)
The sad thing is that I own 5 of those games already, but they were cheap enough that I didn't mind buying them again for the convenience of having them on Steam rather than spread out across my PC, 360, and PS3.

I kinda wish I purchased Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars when it was chopped. Red Alert 3's a lot better than I initially expected, instead of being super serous the game is well aware it's a game. Wouldn't be surprising if they extend the sales.

Nope, no extension. Everything's back to normal except for the handful of 10% or 15% sales on random games Steam always has.

Corpulent,
Hehe. I wish I got my hands on the Jade Empire one. =O That was a nice catch, and I always wanted to play it. I did end up getting STALKER and it's expansion this morning since I was being wishy washy (I'm not to fond of FPS) and Jedi Academy. =)
Hasta,
