It was the same with Arod...just about every athlete cheats; the media just doesnt usually blow it up because they know the athlete will shun them, and its also not relaly any of their business.
Idk...it's not any of their business. I know people who cheat on their girlfriends/spouses, and its not my place, so I just turn the other shoulder. On the one occasion its been brought up to me personally I discouraged, but again...whose gonna be the one to break it to the other? This whole thing sounds so soap-operaish that it strikes as phoney; "too good to be true" type of scandal.
I said before, we need to wait and see. Its Tiger Woods. The medias been waiting to tear him down for years, hes too good. How much of this is actually true at all we'll prob. never know, but at the same time, the last thing people want to do right now is believe every report. There are going to be people Tiger spent 2 seconds with coming out saying they had affairs, ect. because they want the attention and know people wont question them right now.
My point about the media is for them to pretend that they're shocked. I can understand the public being shocked if nothing has been reported to begin with, but the media has a hell of a lot better idea of what's going on than any of us do in the first place. So for them to have shocked righteous indignation is a bit ludicrous in my opinion. Same goes for the Tour players. They friggin' knew. In fact it's apparently been one of the things that was whispered at the bar in the clubhouse for years amongst the players. But then when asked about it by the media, some of them are pretending to be surprised. Please.

This is Mistress #4, Mindy Lawton, from TMZ's report yesterday (they didn't give her name):
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/golf/article-1233578/Tiger-Woods-8-hour-diner-waitress-deal-kept-affair-news.html
This is actually the story that was covered up two years ago by the National Enquirer in order to get an exclusive story for their sister publication Men's Fitness. There's a whole lot of hypocrisy involved in this story and it's not just Tiger.
Mindy's sister, Orlando primary school teacher Lynn Lawton, said: 'She is extremely, extremely naive, my sister. She is single, never married, never had children and still looking for a relationship. I have to hand it to him. It was brilliant to choose my sister to play his kind of game.'Poor Mindy. She didn't see the stroll in one technique coming from a mile away.:o

If I am Elin I am digging up as much dirt as I can before going to court to strip the kids from him permanently. How she isn't already doing that is beyond me... I get that he's Tiger and he's loaded but enough is enough. There is probably enough evidence of drug abuse and what not. Maybe she was taking drugs too so who knows, but that's the only play I'd make at this point.
I don't think she should take his kids away from him just to get back at him. People who do that petty stuff are bad parents usibg their children like that.
She should only go for custody if his a bad father (i.e influnce, neglect ect)
These mistresses hit paydirt. Every tabloid over across the world wants the story.

Tigers making Hugh Hefner look bad
It's the exact opposite. Tiger is screwing pretty much anything that moves while Hugh has nothing but Playboy chicks. Meanwhile, the timing of this scandal could not be worse for TW's buddy Bryon Bell. Bell is the guy who booked Rachel Uchitel's flight to Australia so she could hook up with Tiger. Bell also was on the flight with her and helped her check into her hotel room. Bell is getting married on December 12th with Woods as his best man. Do you think Bell's lady is having second thoughts about marrying this guy? If he's willing to help a friend cheat on his wife, then he's probably willing to cheat on his own wife as well.

This includes PGA Tour players, his athlete buddies (Michael Jordan for instance), and even the National Enquirer (had a story on him 2 years ago but traded silence for a cover story in their sister publication Men's Fitness).

Phil Mickelson and his wife are supposedly swingers. Phil makes $50-60m per year, most of it endorsements. He's the second highest paid sportsman right now. Take a guess at what kind of chicks are throwing themselves at him. Read this article:

My sources said that clubhouses sometimes resembled frat houses, with golfers exchanging graphic stories of the previous night’s escapades. Players talk about “the 19th hole,” or dub a girl willing to have anal sex a “double bogey.” A “water hole” is anyone who performs only oral sex.

It's not that he got caught, it's that it got reported. Arnold Palmer was a womanizer but the sports media never snitched on him and the tabloids didn't give a damn back then. Fred Couples was (and still is) a womanizer but you don't hear anything about it in the media.

It's not that he got caught, it's that it got reported. Arnold Palmer was a womanizer but the sports media never snitched on him and the tabloids didn't give a damn back then. Fred Couples was (and still is) a womanizer but you don't hear anything about it in the media.

Playgirl Magazine supposedly has nude photos of Tiger. They are in the process of "authenticating" the photos. A woman who claims to have been with him said she took the pictures with her cell phone.
I think there is more to this story than just Tiger's infidelity. I'm a conspiracy theorist myself. Organized crime has always had a big influence in sports. I wouldn't be surprised if this public lynching of Woods is orchestrated. All this dirt has existed for years, so why now?

Clearly its the work of The Black Crusaders...
Tracy Jordan: The Black Crusaders are a secret group of powerful Black Americans. Bill Cosby and Oprah Winfrey are the chief majors, but Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell and Gordon from Sesame Street, they're members, too, and they meet four times a year in the skull of the Statue of Liberty. You can read about that on the Interweb.

Gatorade Drops Tiger Woods (http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/12/gatorade-drops-tiger-woods)
UPDATE: A representative for Gatorade has confirmed that the company has dropped Tiger Woods' drink but says its "partnership" with the golfer will continue. The rep told RadarOnline.com: "Our partnership with Tiger does continue. Tiger and his family have our support as he works through his private matter."
Gatorade has dropped Tiger Woods' sports drink.
It’s the first major endorsement loss for the golfer in the wake of his cheating scandal and bizarre one-car crash.
Gatorade released a statement Tuesday saying the move to discontinue its “Tiger Focus” drink had nothing to do with the golfer’s growing scandal and that the decision was made before Tiger’s car crash and allegations of extra marital affairs.
In a statement to CNBC (http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/12/gatorade-drops-tiger-woods#), Gatorade officials said: “We decided several months ago to discontinue Gatorade Tiger Focus along with some other products to make room for our planned series of innovative products in 2010. We hope to share more about our 2010 plans soon.”

http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil_ball_golf/post/There-s-been-a-distinct-lack-of-Tiger-Woods-ads-?urn=golf,207606
Tired of the Tiger Woods story? Many are; it's dominating the news, the tabloids and certain allegedly golf-oriented websites. However, take heart -- there's a place where you won't find any Tiger Woods ... and it's not where you'd expect.
Bloomberg's Brett Pulley and Michael Buteau did a little digging into Nielsen's television records, and found an interesting statistic: advertisements featuring Tiger Woods have completely vanished from prime-time television since Woods' wreck.
Nielsen officials told Bloomberg that 15 different advertisements featuring Woods have appeared in prime time since June. The last one was a Gillette spot that aired on Nov. 29, according to Bloomberg.
Prior to Woods' troubles, he was a phenomenally popular and easily recognizable celebrity; Bloomberg notes that 86 percent of U.S. consumers over the age of six recognized Woods. The vast majority of his $110 million in annual earnings comes from endorsements. So, yeah, there's a lot at stake here, not just for Woods but for entire companies banking on his image.
The lack of Woods ads isn't entirely surprising; with the golf season over, there's no need to pitch Woods' golf connections, and EA Sports doesn't have a new Tiger Woods game on the horizon. So what we're left with is ads that promote the mystique of Tiger Woods -- cool under pressure, domination, excellence beyond compare. You can imagine what the reaction would be should any of those kinds of ads hit the airwaves right about now.
Still, Tiger's many endorsement deals trade heavily -- even primarily -- on his image, and that image has taken battleship-hull-busting hits in the last two weeks. Already, one sponsor -- the Pac-10 -- has yanked a Woods-involved ad specifically because of the current problems. Are there more to follow?
When Tiger does return to the airwaves -- and eventually, he will -- it's likely to be in a very different context than before. Let's run down some of the most famous Tiger-based ad campaigns, and consider how they may or may not hold up in light of current events.
Nike: "I am Tiger Woods." The classic slogan, and one which I don't foresee many people repeating any time soon.
Accenture: "Go on. Be a Tiger." Considering the havoc this story has wreaked on Tiger and his family, I don't think there's anybody who wants to be a Tiger these days.
Tag Heuer watches: "What are you made of?" Probably the least problematic of the slogans, but any kind of speculation of what goes on inside Tiger's head is now pretty much out.
Gillette: "The best a man can get." Let's not be too snarky here, and just say that every man ought to think that "the best he can get" is his wife, if he knows what's good for him.
NetJets: No tag line, but considering the globetrotting allegations getting leveled against Woods, there's plenty of room for interpretation. Then again, if you've got a jet for your personal use, you're probably not overly concerned with Tiger's image.
Gatorade Tiger: "Is it in you?" I probably don't need to tell you why this won't work any more, do I?
So, unfortunately for Tiger fans, it looks like ads that invite you to be like Mr. Woods are dead and gone. I'd imagine that ads featuring Tiger aren't going to have any tag lines for the foreseeable future. Which means that whimsical, goofy ads like this one are also probably gone:

^ If these text messages are true, then it seems like Tiger was probably seeking (aside from sexual) a relationship that he may not have with his wife, which allows him to flirt and dealt with an individual without alot of pressure from his family and in-laws. Not saying that it was right, but I'd like to speculate the reason why he'd hook up with other women even though he has such a beautiful wife.

Tiger Gets Order Blocking Nude Photos, Videos
Posted Dec 10th 2009 7:02PM by TMZ Staff
Tiger Woods' British lawyers have obtained a court order from the High Court in London, prohibiting British publications from publishing any nude photos and videos of Tiger Woods ... and TMZ has obtained copies of the documents.
Tiger Woods' lawyers sent a letter to multiple UK papers and blogs, stating the court order "prevents the publication of private and confidential information contained in the Order.... this Order is not to be taken as any admission that any such photographs exist, and in the event they do exist they may have been fabricated, altered, manipulated and/or changed to create the false appearance and impression that they are nude photographs of our client."
The court order also covers any possible videos. It blocks the publication of "any photographs, footage or images taken or obtained of the claimant [Tiger] naked or any naked parts of the claimant's [Tiger's] body or of him involved in any sexual activity."
The lawyer's letter says, "Our client is not aware of any images and in any event he would not have consented to any such photographs being taken nor would he have consented to the dissemination or exploitation of the same."

Elin doesn't trust him (rightfully so) and she will not let him travel without her until he has regained her trust. She has told him, "It's golf...or me" and he has told her he is willing to do anything to save the marriage, including retirement from golf.
For all the people who keep saying he needs to apologize on TV or whatever, I think retiring from golf would be one of the steepest prices anyone has ever paid for this kind of behavior. This is a guy who has dreamed of 19 majors since he was in kindergarten. If he's willing to give that up and dedicate himself to his family, I think he would actually deserve credit in that instance. That is the ultimate in "manning up" after a ton of mistakes.

Wow, is she really worth all that?
It's not just about her, it's about his kids too. It's also about his own happiness. Happiness in your personal life is more important than success in your professional life. The way he's probably looking at it is that if he sets the majors record but he's lost his wife and kids, he will be an empty and unhappy person. He has already had a legendary career even without the record. Jack Nicklaus needed 25 years to win 18 majors. Tiger has already won 14 in just 13 seasons. But at the end of the day, what difference does any of that make if he's unhappy in his personal life? The celebration of legends like Babe Ruth goes on long after their death, but they aren't alive to revel in that celebration. Michael Jordan is an example of someone who seems pretty unhappy in his life right now despite how much praise he receives for his basketball career. Tiger probably wants to avoid that.
But there is also a risk to this for him. What if he does give up his golf career but they still end up divorced 5-10 years from now? I don't think she will ever trust him to be alone ever again, even when he's 80 years old and can barely walk. How can they ever build a lasting relationship if she never trusts him? She shouldn't trust him after what he's done, but her distrust of him will make it very difficult for him to ever be truly dedicated to her.

I don't know man. Even if she eventually forgives him, she'll never forget. His life is gonna be hell forever if he stays with her. The kids? She can't take his kids from him. So no real worry about that. The question is, how much is your piece of mind worth? Spend the rest of your life apologizing, or cut your loses and hope not to make the same mistakes with wife number 2.

Yeah, relationships are supposed to be based on the idea of equality between the two. The way this is playing out, he will essentially be a dog on a leash the rest of his life. Not sure how he can ever be happy in that situation. Perhaps he is just wanting to salvage it until the kids are adults, then they can get divorced. But that still means he would have given up his shot at the majors record in order to present the "ideal" parental unit for his kids. Family should come first though. Even if he doesn't love his wife, he should love his children...and according to the sources who are friends with both Tiger and Elin, Tiger really does love his kids very much. One source even said that he got married because he wanted kids.

If he retires its a complete bull **** PR move. He will spend a year doing charity work, going on Oprah and other talk shows, and he'll be back on the PGA by the Masters 2011 LATEST. Tiger, do yourself a favor and stop avoiding the inevitable. You are a golfer and a womanizer. No need to change that. That's one of the few things to rise from this that I simply don't believe. This man has been driven to be the absolute best in his chosen field for practically his entire life. There's no way he's simply going to walk away from it for the sake of a woman whom he apparently didn't think enough of to keep his dingaling away from other chicks while they were married.
Man up and move forward from this nonsense as best you can, but retiring is a load of horsepuckey. It's entirely overkill. This isn't some crippling personal turmoil that requires the world to spin in reverse on its axis to remedy. Just stop ****ing other women. It's fairly simple. Golf isn't the issue. Judgment is. One really doesn't have anything to do with the other. I don't buy this.

Golf is his excuse for being on the road by himself while she is at home taking care of their kids. In other words, golf gives him the opportunity to be away from her in order to cheat on her. She knows it. He knows it. If she takes that away from him, then it will take away the cheating aspect. But I seriously doubt the two of them could ever bond again. She has him by the balls (not in a good way) the rest of his life. She knows it. He knows it.

He hasn't lost everything. He's probably the most famous golfer who ever lived. He's got money up the wazoo. He's not going to give any of that up if he retires now.
But it's probably baloney anyway. How does retirement from golf work? I'm a figure skating fan and we've got like, 4 or 5 top skaters who announced retirement years ago but never actually became Olympic-ineligible (by doing pro shows/competitions) and this year they're coming back just for the Olympics.
He could always unretire. :oldrazz:
I don't know man. Even if she eventually forgives him, she'll never forget. His life is gonna be hell forever if he stays with her. The kids? She can't take his kids from him. So no real worry about that. The question is, how much is your piece of mind worth? Spend the rest of your life apologizing, or cut your loses and hope not to make the same mistakes with wife number 2.
She can certainly take the kids from him. Divorce him, get full custody, move to Sweden. Kids are gone.

Alimony can make a man retire. This is why guys who like sex should not get married.
It sounds like he might retire at the request of his wife...

It's hard to really judge the entire situation without knowing all details of what his wife has done in their marriage, but for the kids one has to feel some bit of sympathy-as much sympathy as you can for kids who are born into a ton of money and will never have to work a day in their lives and ever go without. But I have none for him and I can't easily judge how much she deserves.

Tiger is stepping away from golf indefinitely...
"I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try.
I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What's most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.
After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.
Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period."

One of the idiots on The Golf Channel said there's "a lot of exciting young personalities on the rise." Sure there are. The most exciting one I've seen is Anthony Kim. He's a cocky little motherf**ker, admits to wasting an entire year on Tour partying his butt off instead of trying his best in tournaments, admits to not practicing the way he should, plays very aggressive like Woods and Mickelson, etc. But the rest of 'em are boring. The most exciting thing about Irish youngster Rory McIlroy is his hairstyle. Otherwise, he's boring as hell just like everyone else on Tour. There is a Japanese kid by the name of Ishikawa who is boring as hell too.

No way. Jordan redefined endorsement deals for athletes; his image turned Nike and Gatorade into multi-billion dollar companies. Before that, they were only multi-million dollar companies.

Pebble Beach is where he won the 2000 U.S. Open by 15 shots and he won both the 2000 and 2005 British Open at St. Andrews. The NBA was already one of the big 3 sports to begin with. It was already hugely popular before Jordan. Golf is a niche sport and just about the only things that have brought it into the mainstream are the Masters (for many people this is the only golf tournament they've ever watched), Arnold Palmer (came along right when the TV era started), and Tiger Woods. Tiger takes golf from niche to mainstream when he plays. When he doesn't play, you see an instant 50+% drop in ratings. There was one tournament recently where the ratings went up almost 170% over the previous year's ratings for the same tournament, simply because Tiger won the event whereas the year before he was not playing in the event at all.

NBA ratings went down significantly once Jordan left. It was never the same. There was definitely a dark period there especially when the Lakers started sucking again. It is probably on the rebound with the re-emergance of the L.A/Boston markets, but it still has a ways to go. If I am the PGA they need to take this opportunity to start marketing their younger stars.

Quite frankly, there are only two aspects where PED use would help Tiger on the golf course:
1. Beta blockers are known to help calm nerves. As everyone who has ever paid attention to golf knows, putting/chipping are a huge part of the game. Nerves come into play big time with the short game. This would be the most logical use of a PED for a golfer with Woods' natural talent.
2. Steroids to help strength out of the rough. Tiger had a faster clubhead speed in college at 150 pounds than he does now at 185 pounds, but he has more brute strength out of the rough now after years of weight training. The key ingredient to Tiger's length is that his hips clear very fast through the swing. Think of Ken Griffey Jr. in baseball. Tiger has called it his "blessing" and his "curse" because it allows a lot of clubhead speed but it also leads to inaccurate shots with the driver because his hands have a tough time catching up to his hips. If Tiger is under suspicion for using steroids to hit the ball further, then people might want to take a look at the increases in driving distance across the Tour. Tiger's driving distance over the last 12 years has stayed pretty much the same, while some other big names have increased BIG TIME. Mickelson went from 284 in 1997 to 300 in 2009. Woods went from 295 in 1997 to 298 in 2009. Technology has been the main thing that people have cited for the increase in driving distance, but if Woods has a target on his back then people should start looking at the other players as well.

The fact that all these sponsors ,who were probably hooking him up half the time, are now acting outraged is laughable.
However , there does seem to be a sort of code of silence amoung the other golfers which tells you no one's hands are clean , including alot of the journalist reporting Tiger's story.

Well... after A-Rod's steroid/divorce scandal he willed his team to the WS. Maybe Tiger can follow suit. Probably bodes well for his career. I could care less about his family life.

His agent has vehemently denied it and so has the doctor who treated Woods. With the sexual affairs, they never denied anything.

I honestly think they just need to let this whole Tiger Woods drama go and stop talking about it. He cheated on his wife? So has many politicians, actors, and other celebrities. It's nothing new and if it didn't affect his game why should we or the sponsors care?
This is receiving more coverage than it deserves if you ask me.

Tiger hooked up with Jessica Simpson at the same tournament where he played in the Pro-Am event with Tony Romo.

I personally never cared about Tiger one way or another, but I have to admit that this mess has given me a chuckle or two, and he does seem to be a complete douche. At least his wife has some heart, as the smashed up SUV, house, etc shows. He should have never gotten married and he didn't need a family.

Tiger deserved it; no athlete has dominated his sport in such a fashion in the last decade like Tiger.

To hell with his infidelity, Tiger kicked major booty on the course (and got plenty off it off the course). I'm glad the AP didn't flake out and honor someone else because of this tabloid tomfoolery

I don't know, a pretty good argument could be made for Armstrong, Phelps, or Federer. All three of them were pretty dominant in their own right in the last decade.

Look at that picture of Simpson, Woods, and Romo. Someone needs to Photoshop that with some quotes. "Tony, you jock douche bag, I'm kicking your @$$ on the golf course and boning your girl in the 19th hole...but as usual, you're just going to sit there with that goofy smile on your face, aren't ya?!"

Romo makes me sick... letting this guy bone your girl after he invites you to play 18 holes with him? I would have whooped his ass. He should have stuck with Underwood. I am guessing he cheated on her and she dumped him. Then karma strikes.

I'm not really into cycling, but I'm going to assume there are more races than the Tour de France. That kinda cuts against Armstrong, because the general public isn't really aware of (or doesn't really care) about what goes on outside of that annual event.
The same argument goes to Phelps. His killed it at the Olympics, but is high off the radar otherwise (no pun intended).
Federer has the strongest case IMO, but he gets points off for Nadal getting the best of him at times, especially on the major stages. I think Roger is better, but Rafa's success against him raised a hint of a question as far as dominance.
Tiger had/has no peer. He's the best by far and backs it up year round in widely visible fashion. I don't think anyone came close to matching his dominance throughout the decade. He made it a moot point to even consider who else could vie for status as #1 golfer.
My $.02

If there's any truth to this, I'll happily buy some Nike Golf equipment next time I'm in the market to upgrade the bag. (OK, probably not. That **** is expensive, but I'm good for a red golf shirt )
There's some juvenile high school element to it, but ratcheted up to a level of hilarity. :woot:

They broke up shortly after the AT&T tournament. I wonder if he found out that Tiger and Jessica hooked up, or even worse...knew for sure that they hooked up! Romo is such a putz. :hehe:

ESPN.com news services
Elin Nordegren, the wife of Tiger Woods, will seek a divorce, ABC News.com is reporting.
A source close to Nordegren told the Web site on Wednesday that a "divorce is 100 percent on."
Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods have been married for five years and have two children.
Nordegren was recently photographed pumping gas without her wedding ring.
Woods and his wife have been married for five years and have a 2-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son.
Woods announced late last week he was taking an indefinite leave from public life and golf while he works to fix his marriage after multiple allegations of infidelity.
The announcement came two weeks after Woods crashed his SUV into a tree outside his Florida home, setting in motion a stunning downfall for the world's No. 1 player, who for 13 years rarely made news off the golf course. One woman who said she had a 31-month affair with Woods shared a voice mail that she said Woods left her two nights before his Nov. 27 accident.
"I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children," Woods said in a statement released last week. "I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try."

I think a divorce is good for both Tiger & Elin. Tiger (even if he stayed married) will never regain the trust of his wife anyway, and he'd have no leverage whatsoever with her. And Elin never had to keep checking his cellphone or hire a P.I. to follow him everywhere. Both can move on, and Tiger can concentrate on his golf (and women) while Elin will probably stay in Sweden with their children, along with millions in child support. It'd be a win-win for Tiger and Elin.

I don't know, a pretty good argument could be made for Armstrong, Phelps, or Federer. All three of them were pretty dominant in their own right in the last decade.
None of them were on Tiger's level as far as consistency throughout all 10 years.
Phelps had only two years of (relevant) success, Armstrong only has a little over half the decade and Federer simply hasn't had a decade of dominance.
Does anyone else think that Ms. Woods probably wasn't completely guilt free in this whole ordeal? If the allegations of 14 women are true, it's a sign of far greater marital problems than simply a horny hubby. It looks like most, if not all, of these affairs happened after the first pregnancy and I am wondering if Elin had become off limits in the bed room.
If so, and this is going to sound terrible, but Tiger's cheating was justified.

Yeah, I don't think Elin looks like she's clueless, and I'm sure she probably has suspicion or knowledge about the cheating well before the tabloid got the news on Tiger's infidelity. Elin probably had other reasons to keep silent and be a trophy wife during the past 5 years.

Women usually know, especially if it's a serial cheater like Tiger. She supposedly knew he was cheating even when they were engaged. The theory on celebrity spouses is that they will be the trophy spouse as long as the cheating doesn't go public. But once it goes public, then they go ahead and act totally shocked/outraged by it and get a divorce. Elin knew about this stuff before they got married, then blows up at him after the National Enquirer publishes a story. Coincidence? Nah.

As for Elin...even if she knew about the cheating...great. That should get her even MORE of his money. And if they have kids, she should get them. 100%. Can't imagine him being a decent father. Considering he spent Thanksgiving Day playing golf, popping pills and drinking booze, I'd say he's hardly father of the year. She'd be the world's biggest idiot to take him back and I hope she gets as much of his cash as possible.
