Word on the street is that Spiderman is getting a reboot who should play Peter Parker Spidey. Should they go older or younger
Man of Tomorrow

I would assume younger, much younger.
Considering he's in highschool here.

AARON JOHNSON for SPIDER-MAN
Yes, he's playing Kick-Ass but screw the typecasting argument. There are worst things in the world than always being considered by kids as a superhero.

Spider-Man/Peter Parker - Michael Angarano
Mary Jane Watson - Mary Elizabeth Winestead

Aaron Johnson is 19, but still could play a high schooler for another two films or so (I would think they'd eventually want him to graduate to evolve the character).

Oh a sidenote, you know what's really strange about that kid..
He's still a teenager but engaged or married to a 42 year old (Sam Taylor Wood) and he's expecting his first child with her already...
That's just nasty.

Logan Lerman could have been a great teenage Peter Parker for the 2012 release, check out this trailer:

BUT his commitment to the "Percy Jackson" franchaise will likely make that an impossibility.

We aren't getting a Dick Grayson or Tim Drake....
And by the time we ever do, he'll obviously be way too old.
We aren't even getting a Batman III till 2013 earliest, think about that. He'll already be into his 20s by then.

No I didn't. I knew Spider-man 4 was never materializing.
There was too much internal conflict between Raimi and Sony, it was painfully obvious.
Filmnerdjamie and I were discussing this in the Superman forums months ago; the unlikelihood of SM4.
And it's beyond unlikely that Nolan will suddenly switch gears and bring Robin into the Batman films when he's gone on record several times saying he's against it; and so did Bale. And the studio isn't in a position to force it on him; they're bending over backwards for Nolan right now.
So Robin is a virtual impossiblity.
There's zero movement on that Teen Titans spec script project too, nothing from Akiva Goldsmith, the project is dead with DC Ent's new strategy.

I hope that the new Parker will have more of the wisecracking Parker from the comics, because this is one area that Raimi didn't do the character justice. Not too sure who should be this new young Parker yet, though, because the person I want (Zachary Levi) is way too old for this role, unfortunately.

No. Spidey has a great rogue's gallery and it would be a slap in the face to them if any Twilight castmember chose to play dress-up in what could possibly end up being a great movie.

Whether or not the Zac Efron is serious (and I don't want him for Peter Parker because he's too much of a hearthrob for girls in real life that him as a geek wouldn't be believable), I think he's a good actor. He hasn't been given much to shine in other than Me & Orson Welles and I'm confident that his new film will really be a hit for him.

Mary Jane Watson - Mary Elizabeth Winestead
Gwen Stacy - Taylor Momson or Amber Heard
Harry Osborn - Emile Hirsch
Vulture - John Malkovitch
Uncle Ben - James Garner
Here's where the list gets a too pipe-dreamy though
Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin - Daniel Day Lewis
Electro - Zachary Quinto
Aunt May - Glen Close
I like all above actors, but i don't see them wanting to do a Spiderman movie; Especially DDL
And I just don't like these.
JJ Jameson - Michael Douglas

Actually, the old comics is exactly what I was referring to. The 60s MJ is the one who all the guys were oogling at, the one who encouraged Peter to "go out", and she even rode a motorcycle IIRC. She was very much the staple for "rebellious sex pot" in that era.

I am deeply concerned that this individual (or someone like him) will be our next Peter Parker. It is a terrifying notion.

To throw a little something out of left field, how about Atticus Shaffer? Obviously, if they were going to shoot today, that wouldn't work, but he'll probably be in high school when the movie comes out. Wouldn't that be refreshing? An actual teenager portraying a teenager? Especially considering Peter is supposed to be sort of wimpy.

Filming should be in 2011, so I would think the actor they cast can't be much older than 20 right now. High school, multiple films, and they need an actor that is still 15 or 16 right now.

Parker will likely be in high school for only one movie. As long as the actor can pass for a high school student during filming then it's all good.
If you cast someone who's only 15 you run the risk of casting someone who won't grow into the role well enough.

Good choices. I'm a big fan of the idea of an actual teenager playing Peter.
Also, I'd like Gwen to be the main "it girl." MJ should be introduced a bit later in the film, if not the series. Why pass up on the opportunity for all of Aunt May's "great personality" talk, and "Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot!"?

The irony is Logan won't be a teenager anymore by 2012. That's why I have a feeling whoever they cast for teenage Peter Parker in this will be around his age range.
Especially if they're doing this Ultimates style with a highschool-aged Spidey.
And I agree that Gwen should be the main love interest. It would be something new compared to the original first film.

Spidey reboot cast? DON'T MIND IF I DO! Not that anybody cares. Oh well, anyway:
Amazing Spider-Man
Directed by Jason Reitman (mostly because I loved Up in the Air)
with score by Michael Giacchino
Reece Daniel Thompson (http://i49.tinypic.com/ige0is.jpg) as Peter Parker
Out of this entire cast list that I spent way too much time on, he's the one I like the most. Quirky and witty, but not too much. Not super handsome. Big fan of him as Spidey. Especially in a suit with black webs and rounded eyes with thick black frames. But I'm getting off-topic.
Dianna Agron as Gwen Stacy
Jake Abel as Harry Osborn
Helen Mirren as Aunt May
Michael McKean as Uncle Ben
John C. McGinley as J. Jonah Jameson
John Cusack as Ben Urich
Courtney Vance as Joe 'Robbie' Robertson
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Betty Brant (ah HA!)
Gary Oldman as Dr. Curt Connors/(eventually) The Lizard
Mark Strong as Norman Osborn/(eventually) Green Goblin
(other villains that I'd dig in a rebooted franchise, not necessarily all in the same flick)
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus
Ben Foster as Maxwell Dillon/Electro
Christopher Heyerdahl as Adrian Toomes/The Vulture
Jensen Ackles as Herman Schultz/Shocker
Kevin Durand as The Rhino
And after the credits...
Samuel L. Jackson as NICK FURAYYYY

I really want some older people. I don't want a film about teenagers. If some of it needs to take place in high school, that's fine. I just don't want it to be Twilight. Anyway, I think it will be younger people, so...
Anyway...
Peter Parker / Spider-man: Logan Lerman (FANTASTIC in 3:10 to Yuma).
Mary Jane Watson: Bonnie Wright (displays nothing but increasing beauty and talent).
Gwen Stacey: Rachel Hurd Wood.
Need more time for the rest.

Those kids being named look way too young for a movie like this....Most movies cast mid to late 20 year olds as high schoolers anyway lol.....
Weren't Toby and Dunst and Franco nearing their late 20's when Spider-Man came out? They looked fine as HS kids ready to transition to college and adult life. I would much rather watch that then a realistic look of some kid who's nads just dropped that would have a Twilight feel to it.
I never try and make my own cast and im not that big of a Spidey guy, but i guess i have to contribute so...here goes my pipe dream....
Peter Parker/SM: Joseph Gordon Levit
MJ: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Gwen Stacy: Laura Vandervoort
Harry Osborn: Ben Foster
Norman Osborn: Jackie Earle Haley
Ben Parker: Brian Cox
Aunt May: Anjelica Huston
Lizard: Stephen Lang
Doc Ok: Val Kilmer
Venom: Tom Hardy
Sandman: Michael Biehn
Anyway, yes they are older, but they look very young clean shaven and you can make them look even younger with subtle cgi, which i don't even think is necessary bc JGL and Ben Foster look like they're 25 at most anyway lol...

This is what happens when you're making movies about kids. By the time the film comes out, they'll be in their early twenties. From the sounds of it, Sony want the series to be Peter Parker in high school, so such a young cast is needed.

Logan Lerman definitely fits the physical bill for a teenaged Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

The first time around was the same with mid to late 20 year olds playing the part. Heck, even all the comics and cartoons, they never look like real 16 year olds. I just have a hard time seeing a non teen/early 20's fan base take it seriously with a bunch of pretty kids running around as superheros and villains......

As far as most males(heroes/villains) go, they are not ugly, but they are not pretty. When i say pretty, i mean very feminine features and just a very b*tch like presence.

I'd call Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, Brandon Routh, just to name a few...all could be called pretty boys.
I can't think of many male villains who are pretty. They aren't ugly, but the likes of Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Ian McKellen, Bryan Cox, Danny Houston, and Michael Clark Duncan don't exactly spring to mind when I think of pretty people.

Well, if we're making a movie of the calibre that I would expect a proper Spider-man movie to be...
Peter Parker/Spider-man: David Kross (for obvious reasons).
Mary Jane Watson: AnnaLynne McCord (was great on Nip/Tuck).
Gwen Stacey: Jessica McNamee (a great, young Australian actress at the start of her career).
Harry Osborn: William Moseley.
Aunt May: Vanessa Redgrave.
J Jonah Jameson: Richard Jenkins.
Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin: Michael Shannon.
Quentin Beck/Mysterio: Geoffrey Rush.
Adrien Toomes/The Vulture: John Malkovich.
Dr. Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus: Alan Rickman.
Max Dillon/Electro: Ben Forster.
Mac Gargan/The Scorpion: Stephen Dorff.
Eddie Brock/Venom: Tom Hardy. (LOVE this choice, if that's not too self-indulgent).
Cletus Cassidy/Carnage: Jackie Earle Haley.
Kraven The Hunter: Josh Brolin.

You don't see my argument towards using someone pretty? You really put someone with Zac Efrons looks in the same as Hugh Jackman?

I understand Spidey isn't the most manly looking dude, but he can be good looking and still have masculine qualities. 01-12-2010, 06:57 AM
If it were up to me I would keep J.K. Simmons as JJ like the new Bond films did with having Judi Dench reprise her role as M.
Now, as for casting--- I'm on the Mary Elizabeth Winstead as MJ bandwagon like anyone else but I saw the poll on here has Jeremy Sumpter up a strong margin. Sumpter I guess could work but lately his arc on "Friday Night Lights" has shown he can play a real ********ed jock/bully. If it were me, Levitt or Elijah Wood would be my picks to play Spidey, but they're both too old so really the thing I fear is they're going to cast some CW teeny-bopper for the role of MJ, Harry, Peter Parker, etc.
It's going to be VERY TOUGH for me not seeing Toby as Spider-Man or Rosemary Harris as Aunt May. While I'd love to see Peter meeting Gwen first, that story, and then movie 2 or 3 move onto MJ--- Raimi should've had his last dance with this. I don't know who was to blame for the parting of ways---studio or Raimi himself, but I hope we get more as to where Raimi wanted to go and where the studio wanted to go.
