Good eyes. I'm one of those who is still hoping for a mix of organic and the web shooters, but if it's just the web shooters I'm fine.

Wow Iam going to have a nerdgasm two awesome suits in one day cap and now this. Frothis shot it looks like this film will be a lot darker and serious in tone. The suit mixes the classic spidey iconic elements into a very practical almost vigilante outfit. Its so gritty, and the expression on andrews face is amazing very brooding. I know some people wont like it but iam having a blast.

Looks cool. As far as traditional comic perfection, Raimi's costume was tops for me, that being said, this is very nice, and different, which goes a long way towards distinguishing itself.

I wouldn't say it's overly complicated. The red portions look like some sort of mesh substance laid over a blue body suit.

The suit looks like it was made out of a f***ing old dirty basketball!!!!!!
And the webs....The webs are all F**KED UP.....

If this was released by SONY, I think they are trying to get the first impression that this new set of films will be grittier and more serious than Raimi's series. Wasn't the first 2002 movie picture something lighthearted like Spidey chilling on a building?

Yes. Simply... "yes". I think this shot says so much. Subtle changes. Mech Web shooters it appears. Gloves different. Extended Spider Symbol.

But more importantly, the shot says so much as to what we will be in store for. Loving it! Brilliant shot!

With the casting, the director, the implied (what we know at this time) storyline/characters, and what appears to be the tone set... I would say the Reboot is in Great Shape.

Well done Mr. Webb and Sony!

The best part about this suit is that they didn't go overboard with padded muscles. Garfield wearing this suit has a lighter build than Tobey appeared to have, and looks just about perfect for Spider-Man. Good stuff.

He looks skinner than Maguire. I love the darker feeling.

It's pretty mediocre for me. I'd like to see a mask.

The one thing that pisses me off is the lack of webbing on the suit..those are just lines. When they designed the suit for SM1, they said the farther they got away from the original costume the less Spidey-like it felt. :(
It's odd how they used the Raimi spider symbol...O_o

But they fully acknowledged him as someone who was well-versed in science and technology. Both the first and second films focused on Peter being inspired by world-renowned scientists (albeit scientist that ultimately went insane, and Peter had to fight them as Spider-Man). And in the third film, he immediately went to Dr. Connors for help investigating the origins and properties of the symbiote.

Thank god, its over, no more posts about what suit he should wear. Now we can argue the mask.

I see where they did there on that suit. Raimis version had a diamond pattern. This suit uses a cube pattern. Also I can't be sure but I think that as opposed to raised webbing, they raised the suit around the webbing. So people who didn't want the "silver webbing" won out I guess. It seems more matte then shiny. Though it could be that it needs more light. Also the suit seems more patched together then the other suit. I mean in that it is designed to look like it was made from multiple parts and isn't one piece(because the last suit was many parts too but looked like just one suit).

Differen't but the same design.

I think it's a pretty cool picture, but as for the suit itself, I think I'll reserve judgment until I see it completely. I mean, the web shooters is a nice addition, but i can't help but feel like they were purposely trying to make it look as different as they could make it from the Raimi's films. Though I still love the suit for those movies because it looked pretty close to the comics and still looked cool. But I'm going to assume the mask will have the same design as the top part of the costume.

I really like it. It looks as though he has taken a normal suit (i.e. wetsuit) And painted it red and blue. The webbing looks as though it was a template that was placed onto the suit before the paint job, or was scratched onto it before the paint dried.

I really love the improvised approach, and it makes it more believable for a person in Pete's position to be able to construct a suit like this, than the one we saw in the previous films. That's not to say that I'm s******* on the suit from the previous films, I loved it as much as the next person.

I don't really post in this forum, but I am actually a huge Spidey fan, so I just wanted to chime in on how much I adore this suit and think it's far superior (even though torn) to Raimi's Spidey suit. It's intricate, accurate and a little bit original. Perfect. And I think he looks great in it. I just hope the mask is as good - and I'm sure it will be.

Looks pretty good but I think it still has the same problem as Raimi's suit in that it looks too good to have been made by a poor high school/college student.

Actually I disagree slightly with this, I think this suit definately looks more possible that it could be homemade.

Far as i see it, they went as different as they could without differentiating from the classic look. I like it.:woot:

Mainly referring to how the chest webbing forms a point, and the segmentation of the glove and forearm bits. Also, the lack of the belt.

It looks okay. I like the Motocross feel of it. It implies speed and daredevilry.

It's unrealistic to expect Peter in a luchador costume, but what gets me is how intricate the design is. Yeah, it's cool. But why is every movie superhero a pro seamstress on the side? Even if he doesn't make it in the reboot, he probably has to repair it. And that's a lot of mesh.

Honestly, I was extremely excited for the reboot and thought it was gonna blow Raimi's series out of the water, up until we saw Peter's dumb haircut and this badly designed "tries too hard to be hip" suit.

Right, ok, costume looks cool, ironically looks more professionally made than Raimi's but at the same time looks more believably made by parker...if that even makes sense. I'm more impressed with the mood the picture conveys. Garfield IS Peter Parker. That is the most iconic live action peter parker pic I've ever seen.

Web shooters???? I think we have them but I need concrete proof before I shoot my load some more.

All I need right now is to see the costume in full. The boots and the mask. They cannot eff this up!! As for the belt (red strip) It should be there!

As a whole... I like it. Different, but still recognizable as Spider-Man. Couple of things in particular:

1) I'm glad we got black webbing, and I'm glad it's not raised.

2) The metal pieces on the gloves are undeniable, but I'm not so sure that they are webshooters just yet. They may simply be metal pieces that make it easier for the webbing to come out of the costume (as opposed to the webbing coming straight out of the fabric).

3) While I am okay with the overall changes, I do miss the "belt" design. The front of the suit just sort of... ends abruptly. If they're going to ditch the belt design, they should have at least ended the red part in a point.

Also, I think I do see traces of the belt. Look at his waist, and you will see that the blue fabric is slightly darker where the belt would normally have been. There is also a bit of red on his lower back, where the belt would have been. And with the way the red "strip" just fades off at the end, I'm wondering if maybe there is a belt design, but the red had been faded/torn away.

(Note the little round things on his wrists, right next to the webbing bands.) Now if we can just get our eyes on that mask.

Great pic, and as for the suit, I like it a lot, about the only thing I am missing is the black webbing on the torso between spider-emblem and bellybutton region, maybe they are taking influence from the old 60s cartoon there, lol.
But man, that is such a great pic, it does look like the kind of Spider-man film I'd like to see, I do love the Raimi films, but I always wanted to see him in more , dare i say, realistic settings, rather than idealised, and this pic gives some indication that's the way they are going.

While this maybe true, isn't this more a function of the story it's based upon than anything else? By that same logic, no matter how intelligent young Peter may have been, unless he stole everything from his science class (and that would have to be a pretty expensive class) there's no way he should have built the webshooters either.

This isn't Batman folks, where every nuance needs explanation. This is about a kid crawling walls after all, the suspension of disbelief needs to be through the roof before you even sit down to slurp your soda. Raimi's costume was as close to comic accurate as we've seen outside of Superman & Ghostrider, I'm just shocked that now, years later, people have all these issues with it? edit: actually, i can see what they were going for without the belt, it does look quite slick that design, I'm just so used to seeing the belt, but once i switched off my preconceptions, i dug the beltless design. It is cool but those thick blue lines on the gloves don't look slick at all, they look a bit dated where the beltless design looks modern, if that makes (spider)sense.

Well I particularly am not digging the hard rubber look.

I would have preferred a cloth suit, but I think they made this one look flexible and athletic enough that I don't fully believe it's 'hard'.

Yeah I hammed it up admittedly.

So let me put it in simpler words.

I don't like it at all.

Well I'm not particularly digging the hard rubber look.

Thats a big part of what's bothering me about the suit. It looks like that plastic material they use in a restaurant kitchen near the dishwashing machine or that thing on urinals.

So who's gonna manip a mask onto this bad boy?

Come on!

I might have a go at one later if no-one else does.

Thoughts on the suit...Kinda mixed personally. On the one hand I know they had to change it to distance the film from Raimi's, and on that level they have succeeded to come up with something different that still immediately says Spider-Man and looks cool. On the other hand though, it feels a little bit too much of a sideways step to me: After getting something so close to the books basic design that worked perfectly well, it's hard for me to not think some of the changes are more for the sake of being different than actually being necessary.

What I mean there is the smaller scale 'straight' web pattern, as opposed to the traditional scalloped design (that came to mind right away when thinking about how to manip a mask, and how that straighter pattern will look on it). Just changing from raised silver 3d webbing to the black 'embossed' style they have there would have been enough for me. Also can't say I'm too keen on the belt line being cut off at the sides.

But whatever, these are relatively small gripes. Let's hope the mask finishes it off in style :yay:

I like the suit. A lot! Plus, Garfield looks appropriately skinny. Let's hope they make him keep the mask on more time than Maguire did in the Raimi Trilogy. I always hated when he moved/fought without his mask.

RustyCage

Also, I think I do see traces of the belt. Look at his waist, and you will see that the blue fabric is slightly darker where the belt would normally have been. There is also a bit of red on his lower back, where the belt would have been. And with the way the red "strip" just fades off at the end, I'm wondering if maybe there is a belt design, but the red had been faded/torn away.

Interesting observation... makes me wonder if he has a utility belt sort of thing - maybe that's part of why he looks so troubled.

it looks more like the belt feeds throw the blue area (like a really thick belt loop) you can see the stitched area where it would go throw...

Thanks for this.

I don't know if "ripped off" is the right way to describe it. The red almost looks like it's "painted" on top of the blue fabric. Notice the front red piece, and how it seems to be fading away at the end. Like the print on a t-shirt.

It is certainly peculiar how the belt section just happens to be completely faded, but nothing else.

But that red piece on his lower back has me curious. I can't imagine it being there, if not for the belt design.

I like the way the suit fits on him (especially the wrinkles in the gloves) and I really like the blue ares, but I feel like the red sections were over done. The texture looks stiff and the design is really busy. At least they're trying something different visually.

I personally think it does.

I'm not going to let a costume design come in the way of me and a good film (if it turns out that way).

Just saying that the Raimi suit is superior to it in almost every way possible IMO. It doesn't light a candle to it.

I'm digging the gloves/bottom of the sleeves look. It adds to the overall "sleek" look. It helps that Garfield has the more slender body type that fits Spider-Man as opposed to a particularly "porky" actor who donned the suit in SM3. :cwink: LOL

In terms of color, texture, and material - I really like the suit.

But I'm having a hard time with the front of the suit. It's not so much the lack of a belt that bothers me. It's just, the red section on the front just abruptly fades away at the end - coming to a round-looking end. If it ended in a point like the Alex Ross suit, it'd be fine. But how it is now, it looks weird to me. Like it's unfinished.
