Matt
02-07-2010, 06:46 PM
Caldwell is far too conservative for his own good. Manning had two minutes and two time outs. That is an eternity to him. They were out of safety risk after their first down. Win or lose, at some point in his tenure as head coach, Caldwell's fear of taking risks is going to bite him in the ass.

They would be behind 1 point had they got those other 3 points. They do not deserve the 3 points back

They take the 3 points, they kick off. Manning would've probably started from the 20, not the one. Caldwell isn't so conservative with that position, Colts are up by 11 instead of 4.

NewYorkSpider
02-07-2010, 06:51 PM

Not lucky. Caldwell gave it too him. He is way too conservative for his own good. He makes Dungy look like the world's most aggressive coach.

Maybe but I'd rather have one of the greatest rock bands of all time than someone like Kanye and Beyonce. Or Justin Timberlake and Kelly Clarkson or whatever trendy band of today they pull out of their asses. I may be in a minority but I've enjoyed it since they've started "playing safe." The issue is not the fact that they're choosing classic rock acts, it's that they are choosing acts who are so over the hill that they embarrass themselves. McCartney was AWESOME. Springsteen was great. The Stones and the Who were awful. Prince kicked ass.

Super Bowl XLIV Random Thoughts, First Half

The Walter Peyton Award. Why's Walt wearing a cape? He looks like Batman with his ears clipped off.

AND INTRODUCING THE NFC AND AFC CHAMPIONS IN A SPECIAL VIDEO THAT COST SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS... now if only we could hear what the hell they are saying. Seriously. Some idiot got paid more than I make in a year just to create this crappy 3 minute video.

Whooooaaahhh... shaky start there, Queen Latifah. You're lucky that choir is there to help you out.

Carrie Underwood... sounds good. I still find her annoying.

Dick LaBeau!

3 & Out to start. Not a great way to begin a Super Bowl, Saints.

Well, the Colts are playing like they belong here.

...aaaaand field goal. You think the Ravens are missing Matt Stover right now?

And now the infamous Tim Tebow commercial. I only caught the tail end of it, where his mother says something stupid about how she's not as tough as him or whatever. Meh, who cares? Enjoy your future as a career backup, Teblow. May you and Bristol Palin create many illegitimate children.

Reggie Bush! Cut to shot of Kim Kardashian. Come on... come on... damn, no luck.

Way to get hit in the face, Colston. Note: the Tyree Helmet Catch only works if you first secure the ball with your hands.

You can't actually catch the ball WITH your helmet.

And Garcon catches the first TD of the night. Saints, you need to get on the scoreboard, FAST.

A woodchuck playing a violin. uh...

Finally, the Saints start to move the ball but it unfortunately ends in a sack and a field goal.

Two commercials in a row featuring ugly men in their underware. What the hell? THIS is the most creative sh** these companies could come up with?

Kurt Warner! No, wait, sorry. It's just the Papa John's Guy.

Troy Polamalu... I'm beginning to worry that your appearances in all of the stupid commercials could jinx the Steelers for seasons to come.

I think I've seen more of Danica Patrick in the last three days than I've seen in the past five years.

The Who! I bet a lot of young kids watching this are thinking "Hey, are these the guys who do the theme from CSI?"

Maybe but I'd rather have one of the greatest rock bands of all time than someone like Kanye and Beyonce. Or Justin Timberlake and Kelly Clarkson or whatever trendy band of today they pull out of their asses. I may be in a minority but I've enjoyed it since they've started "playing safe." I'll take acts like McCartney, the Stones, Springsteen, and even The Who over Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake any day.

My prediction for next year: Bon Jovi which will own. Indeed, gimmie the living legends any day.

Bon Jovi would be the awesomeness :wow:

It was never up. Paramount pulled it at the last minute. Most think due to Disney trying to ruin the deal already made that Paramount had with Marvel

I don't mind "the greats" if they had something new to perform. This is the Super Bowl. It's a special event. Don't come out with the same ol' tired thing. The Who performing the CSI theme was ridiculous. I would have preferred the Black Eyed Peas with Fergie pissing her pants over this product placement.

And sometimes you need to be. I'm not saying they should go out there and throw hail mary passes every play. But Caldwell needs to learn, sometimes you need to play aggressive. If the Colts lose this game, especially by one touch down, everyone is going to question Caldwell's conservative play calling at the end of the first half, especially in contrast to Payton's gutsy onside kick.
