Because she has more than one hit single?

Every song on her Fame Monster album could probably be a huge hit; Poker Face, Bad Romance, Telephone, Just Dance, etc.

Good question. It's possible. Lady Gaga has the potential to be the next Annie Lennox or even Madonna if she plays her cards right. She has that quirky "it" factor going for her.

I never like Lady Gaga's songs as soon as they come out. But a few weeks later, I find myself knowing all the words. It's frustrating. I know her songs are crap, but they're just so damn catchy.

It's my S Club 7 phase all over again.

And besides, I doubt social services would allow her to adopt :o

I'm not saying Lady Gaga is awesome and I'm not a big fan of her songs, their catchy but that's about it. If she continues to play her cards right she might grow out of the pop phase and maybe become iconic like Madonna, Mariah Carey.

I'm reminded of pop bands like Hanson, N*Sync, Backstreet Boys who had more than one hit wonders but eventually grew older and their fans taste in music changed with it.

Sushi is popular because it's delicious. It's not rocket science.

What's "delicious" is a matter of opinion. That's not rocket science either. But it IS biological science that raw fish and meat can carry parasites. Can't blame people for not wanting to take the risk (even though it's not a big one).

:xmen:

SuperFerret
03-28-2010, 10:07 PM
It is. It's also biological science that most parasites can be easily gotten rid of, and that they don't do much damage to their host in a normal infestation (as it would be counterintuitive to do so). You've probably have had parasites without even knowing it. Also, immune systems, they're awesome.

Also, the fish can be farmed in specially controlled environments that can negate any chance of them having parasites, a quality control method that the multimillion dollar sushi industry would have to be entirely mentally disabled to not use, due to the immense backlash that it would receive.

X-Woman
03-28-2010, 10:13 PM
And then there's people who just aren't crazy about the idea of eating raw fish. It's a matter of personal preference, that's all.

Soccer. Seriously, it makes me want to commit acts of inhuman cruelty to people who annoy me with it.

Soccer is just a personal preference. Just like the sushi thing, people just have different tastes. There is also a pride thing going. I am not a soccer fan myself, but when I saw Ghana beat Brazil in the U-20 World Cup last year, I got very excited because I know some people from there.

And then there were four. :)
24 is a much larger number than four, so in literary terms I have to write out four in letters to make it seem bigger.

E is a better start to words than K. Excellent, extraordinary, eloquent, exhilarating, and exuberance are all better words than kill, kids, kooky, kosher, and knucklehead.

Barbecue is by far a better thing than maple syrup, so the entire state of Texas is better than Canada. Any rational human being would choose barbecue over maple syrup any day of the week!

So I still beat you at life Katie dear. Your little 24 haters club has a long way to go!

I just hate the brainless mass Zombification soccer seems to induce. Masses of people shouting, screaming, jumping, singing even freaking crying. Some people act as if it's their very lifes that are on the line. It's pissing me off when I'm sitting in the subway and suddenly a group of soccer fans enter, drunk and starting to sing the most ****ing annoying lyrics. It makes me want to walk over there and rip their ****ing throats out.

Just don't go to any soccer loving countries and say that or you'll get kicked in the shins.

A lot of countries don't have as many sports to watch like we do in America. We have three big sports in football, basketball, and baseball. Then we have a lot of people into boxing and other sports like gymnastics, track and field, swimming, etc. In many countries there is just soccer, and something like rugby or cricket. There aren't many sports to watch like here, so they cling to soccer for their sports fix. Look at Senegal. They've had a wrestling culture for years, and it's now getting to the point to where it's nationally staged. Some crazy stuff happens after their matches.

You also have to consider how long soccer has been around. We're talking about a sport that has been played and practiced for over 2,000 years here. It's been around longer than the most popular religions in the world today, so naturally it will have so many fanatics. It probably has killed as many people as some religions too......nah, that's probably not possible.

Wavin' Flag.

Seriously, I was watching Much More Music, they played the "ArtistsforHaiti" version. Then after it was over they started playing something else... so I clicked to Much Music and they were playing the K'naan version. Regardless of which version you listen to, the lyrics make NO SENSE.

"When I get older, I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom, Just like a wavin' flag"

ummm... I have never called a wavin' flag "freedom" and a flag is not free. It is tied to the pole. Some flags do represent freedom, but some represent other, nastier, things (pirate flags for one). And why would you be called "freedom" because you're older and stronger (but not wiser).

CConn, I'm attacking your list because it starts with my country:

Canada. - we've got everything America has but have never forced our youth to go to war

Kindness. - try it, you'll like it, and it comes with fringe benefits

Karate lessons. - see above

Beer. - see above

Base jumping. - ok, I agree on this one

Peace. - I can dream about it

The Twilight Saga. - haven't checked it out, so can't comment

Interviews with Stephen King. - see above

Day time TV. - agreed

Prime time TV. - depends on the show, but most of it can go

Oprah. - agreed

Socialism. - agreed

Taxi (both the show and the service). - you have to be in the right mood (for either of them

The name "Rory." - well, it might be a good name for a pet or a racing car

Female comedians. - that's a bit sexist

Ponies. - something that fit's between the legs and has power and energy... I can see how you might be perplexed ;)

Pennies. - who said they're popular?

Catholicism. - not as popular as Muslam

Gay sex. - haven't tried it so can't comment

VooDoo doctors. - haven't tried it so can't comment

Doctor Who. - Space Travel, Time Travel, Adventure, Romance, Unpredictable, etc

Deep sea diving. - haven't tried it so can't comment

And big mouth bass fishing. [color=red]- agreed

Its sexist but I agree on this one too. Me and my friends (male and female) had this conversations a few days ago after one of my friends said that there were no female comedians that were funny. We all never agree on one thing, but we agreed on that.

Most female comedians try to hard to be rated-r and fail. They tell the worst jokes that I can't really repeat.

Do you mean stand-up comedians or any type of comedian? Because I can name a few hilarious female writer/actresses.

I agree with you on a number of your rebuttals.

Canada. I'm American and have no problems with our neighbors to the north. They're also ok with me because if they want to live here they go through the proper channels and pay taxes to rightfully earn social security and health benefits.

Kindness. This we need more of in this world. I wish I was born decades earlier before '81. I'm sick and tired of people thinking having personality means being a self centered **** talking smart ass...at least at all times. I have to admit being raised by two introverted Catholics and having 4 sisters, I turned out a bit too nice but there is a level of being rude and just an overall ass hole that I won't tolerate.

Prime time TV. I try not to watch much TV but over the years Seinfeld and Frasier are two shows that kind of grew on me.

Oprah. I agree with this big time.

Female comedians. I think it's a bit ignorant to say you don't get the popularity with female comedians as CCon said but I have to admit female comedians rarely make me laugh.

Catholicism. - not as popular as Muslim

Agreed big time. I don't have any problem with non-extremist Muslims and although I was raised Catholic but don't believe in it(i'm Agnostic), I still think it's ******** that Christians and Catholics are a lot of people's hate targets now days. Every religion or even other groups have their extremists that make the rest look bad, it's entirely biased that other religions don't get as much hate though. I just don't get it really. If people dislike religion I think it's wrong to just hate on one of them and not all.

Christians and Catholics are high on the hate list because they're the most popular, especially here in the western world. They're not hated as much as they would like to think. How many "free-thinkers" are there in the world? It's a small minority raging against the Abrahamic religions, with Christianity at the forefront of the open hate. If this were the east, then Buddhism or Hinduism would probably see more hatred.

There are far more Christians hating on Islam since 9/11 though. Islam is the new "Commie" in America. There is a huge majority of Christians in the west, and just like any demographic most of them are stupid and/or ignorant. This is how dumb people say that Islam is a terrorist religion, yet they conveniently forget that Christianity a whole lot of terrible atrocities.

But seriously i'm not a massive fan of Kyle either. My disliking of Hal has nothing to do with any other GL, it's just... Hal. He should be called Hal Boredom.

He was a shallow boy scout with a bit of a ladies man thing about him... until Emerald Twilight where he grew as a character. Understandably going a bit potty after his entire home town was destroyed etc etc. Wanting to gain enough power to recreate it. He became a pretty good villain.

Major difference being that those atrocities weren't committed by people that were living according to what the Bible told them, they were doing what they wanted to and attaching God's name to it...Muslim terrorists on the other hand that 'murder the infidels' are doing pretty much exactly what the Quaran tells them.
I know some very nice Muslims, but they aren't living according to what the Quaran tells them...thankfully. The extremists that refuse to be friends with anyone that's not Muslim and kill anyone that doesn't convert to it on the other hand, are.

It's rather ironic when secular people throw around their "religion kills/religion breeds hate!" assertions as though belief in any higher power is required for men to committ atrocities, or to hate. There have been plenty of them without it, and furthermore, if there is no higher power to objectively determine right for wrong, who's to say those actions were even wrong to begin with?

The Bible is just as violent as the Quran. The only law in the Bible includes penalties of death for the most foolish of things, and no where is it written in the New Testament that the old law has been repealed. Jesus consistently proclaims that he isn't here to change the law, and even once he chastises the Pharisees for not beating their slaves like the word says. Hell people are not being good Christians for failing to kill in the name of God if you go by what the Bible says sometimes.

to add to that, I don't understand the glorifying of not snitching on people. It's one thing to be a tattle tale, it's another thing to actually do the right thing. Tattle tales are annoying and do it to be a nuisance while "snitching" is SUPPOSED to prevent or put an end to things of an important nature.

These "gangstas" say they don't snitch, so if they were to get shot and survive, would they still not snitch on that person that shot them. seriously, it makes me  that some people would not report to the authorities for the sake of not looking "weak"
