The crude humour in Bay's movies tend to be offensive

Yeah, i don't mind subtle, crude humor. You know, the kind in the Shrek movies where is so subtle only adults tend to get it and kids are oblivious to it, but the kind in the TF movies are in your face stuff like dogs boning each other full blast, Transformers with gigantic testicals, and robots dry humping. I mean serously, does anyone actually like the humor in the movies, or is it just for Bay's own amusement? The complaints are pretty universal on the net and i can't see soccor moms who take their kids to see these movies happy about it, so the general audience isn't receptive to it either.

The crude humour in Bay's movies tend to be offensive

to whom exactly?

Yeah I remember in IM2 when War Machine showed off his balls.

Robots don't have balls, or should we come down on donland duck for indecent exposure.
it would be equivilent to some character telling that character to put some pants on cause they can see his crotch. (and then ppl in the audience feeling offended)

It was a scene made humourous via context and from the mouth of an observer...to imply that it actually happened would be something out of tons of other movies and not in fact Transformers, buttt, considering no one actually cares/talks about said movies the nagging continues.

Sentinal Prime looked a bit different then that in the most recent comics, he played a big part in 'Megatron:Origin' and his look in that wasnt TOO disimlar from what we get in the trailer.

I'm curious to know who the other bots are as well though.
Sorry about that. I meant to include that the picture was from G1.

It was offensive to me...

And, no, it isn't in context. It's not even funny.

If there are people that think the jokes are funny then fine, but I don't.

Although I didn't find the humour offensive, I agree that is was beyond idiotic.

My gf and I wanted to smack my buddy upside the head when we left the theatre after seeing TF2. He said he liked it a lot better than the first one. I just found it hard to believe he liked part 2 more.

I just don't find wrecking balls offensive, but I respect each individual opinion.

There are many films that push humor to "offensive" levels but it is something about transformers that has people really calling the race card and what not. I just find it interesting. Especially in a year when there was literally a Black Face running around on screens.

anyway, maybe your pal found the second one better cause the first one sucked as bad as everyone says.

I don't mind the humour. It could be toned a bit, but, I don't find it offensive.

I think the humor in the first one fine; the second one is not offensive but they just don't work. Comedy, even slapstick, is an art form and Transformers 2 just went for the easy and cheap stuff.

So the 'wrecking balls' sight gag in T2 was just kinda lame. You know what's a better balls joke?

I have friends that think the wrecking balls are funny too... but is that the best they can come up with? It is sad if it is.

There was some crude humour in the Iron Man films, but at least they were subtle enough to be ignored by those who don't find it funny

Doctor Jones

None of the humor was offensive. It was just immature and idiotic. It was something out of a frat boy comedy taken way too far.

This is based on an 80's children's toy line and we have balls and humping robots. That's too idiotic to be offensive.

Dr Lee

How was the humor subtle?

This is Christive, she did a spread for me too, she even did an article also.

Happy being distracted by Widow changing in the back of the car.

That is not subtle.

I didn't find the wrecking ball joke offensive, just dumb. As others have said, I'm more offended about how lame a joke it is. Look at Pixar movies which are more aimed at kids. They have jokes that kids can enjoy but the humor doesn't make adults roll their eyes either. TF's humor to me seems to always go for the lowest common denominator. It's the Dane Cook of franchises.

Pointing to other movies is pathetic.

All of that is inherent in material. Transformers was never about learning the bodily functions or sexual habits of robot. ****ing Jetfire farting out a parachute. Wheelie constantly dry humping Megan Fox's leg. Bumblebee urinating on people. Let's also not forget dogs humping each other. That needs to be in a Transformers movie because?

Car Car Binks was the most offensive thing of all.

Jake Cassidy
12-15-2010, 03:14 AM
Yes, that crap shouldn't be in the movies, but it is so get over it. There's nothing we can do about it now.

All we can do is hope that Bay wasn't lying and that it's toned down, or completely gone, in the next 1.

I agree that I didnt really find the humor offensive just extremely childish and idiotic. I smerked in the movie theatre I think more so that I couldnt believe that they would make such a crued immature joke like that.

I am really reluctant to take Bays word that this film will be more mature and with less potty humor. Of course like everyone else Ill go see it. I just hope im not dissapointed.

I want more artful and intimate battles like the Optimus/Starscream/Megatron battle was in the woods. I have to agree I got goosebumps when Primes said "Ill take you all on!" That was an epic fight and those types of battles where you actually care about the characters and not random masses of TF's running around blasting eachother are what I really look forward to.

Actually he seemed pretty respectuful and just called it as he see's it. Bay is casting his movies with big budget hollywood in mind. That's the way disney's done it, that's the way pixar does it, that's definately the way dreamworks does it, that's the way America does it...and it's worked out pretty well so far...of course bay is the only one called out for it as per usual.
This isn't TV, movies need names if not only for the audience but for the producers peace of mind.

His face could probably be repaired but his scarred face just adds more character to his look or so the toy makers thought. Hopefully they don't have him wearing the tarp/hood over his head in movie because it would make him look ridiculous, while there at it they should give all the robots trench coats to wear around.

The alt mode in and of itself doesn't bother me, but IMO it should have been reserved for a Decepticon other than Megatron. Having Megs turn into a truck is only about a step or two away from that Scourge/Nemesis Prime "give Optimus an identical evil twin" silliness I'd expect out of Hasbro whenever they want to pad out a toy line.

As for the "cloak"...it looks like he stepped out of a particularly uber-cheesy G1 cartoon episode; I can't see the actual screen depiction looking any less silly.

I'll stick with my ROTF Leader class figure, thank you very much.

Having Megs turn into a truck is only about a step or two away from that Scourge/Nemesis Prime "give Optimus an identical evil twin"Didn't they already establish that Prime and Megs are brothers in the movies. I know they set that up in the comic adaptation as well as the novelization but didn't Prime address Megs as brother during the final fight in TF1? Maybe their running that point further home by giving Megs an alt form that matches Prime's.

It's seems like Megatron is one of the only Transformers that can't seem to stick to one form. He's been a gun, a cannon, a jet, a tank, and now a truck; can't they just have him stick with one form just once?

I think Megatron's new design is pretty neat myself. I like that it looks like he's going to have the fusion canon on top of his arm, and I'm glad they given him actual hands since I've never liked those weird tendril things he had in TF1 and ROTF.

I don't think the cloak is bad either, even if it looks a little weird at first. I think the CGI model will do this design justice.

The Fallen basically outed them all via tv, so most people are pretty aware now. Considering all the people that were present in the desert for the last fight and the Decepticons just walking around doing what the hell they want, they would just be in denial. Autobots probably are around the world driving around in car form with their hologram drivers to keep it on the low.

Still don't understand how he made the Devastator mistake, yes I understand he admits it was a mistake now, but how in the world could someone make a mistake that big, (naming a tank the same name as a HUGE combiner)that right there alone showed that he knew little to nothing about the franchise. So again it wouldnt surprise me about him making up a name for the Ferarri instead of just naming him Hot Rod or even Mirage would make most happy. I just dont think he would put Hot Rod in knowing most would be assuming there would be a tie in to Rodimus Prime which prob inst going to happen in this film, because I will be shocked again if Optimus doesnt die in this one either. And yes I agree for the most part he tries to stay close to source, but just don't see why he didnt try to stay closer to the characters we all were expecting to be in the 1st and at least in the 2nd film. Glad he threw us a bone with Shockwave though and got him right from what we have seen so far, just hope he has a lot of screen time though.

The Government had Megatron since, like, the 1800's or whatever as depicted in the first film...why do they act like they have never seen one when they get to the moon?

Im fine with the timeline thing with Megatron being discovered in the 1800's then Sector 7 being formed and keeping a lid on his discovery etc, but it was clearly NASA that sent the Rover to Mars in 2003 per the first trailer, so why focus on Mars when there are bots/ship on the Moon, thats a LOT closer, yea I know not everyone from NASA knew etc but some Im sure had to in order to further launch future explorations for intel and such, just seems like a rehash of the first trailer except with the Moon instead of Mars.

The ancient astronauts trope brings with it the wonder of discovery, which is a great feeling to instill when your movie's about giant robots from outer space. What's not cool is when the movie's about dogs humping, Minstrel Autobots, and big brass balls. If they revisit the same well to avoid a repeat of TF2, that's fine by me.

when it comes to popcorn 4th of july summer fare, that's like saying why involve womanizing male superheroes or funny little asian men in trunks...the summer "good" film experience of the masses transcends the tastes of the few.

A Transformers film can be bombastic and not have to be dopey. The first one was awesome, with its AllSpark quest and amazing action sequences. Even the humor worked, in doses. But I'm hard pressed to find many people who still think Revenge of the Fallen was the summer "good" film experience they paid 10 USD for.

Marvin
01-10-2011, 11:00 PM
I tend to agree for the most part, however it's a subjective view point to say the comedy and "dopeyness" of the first worked whilst saying the second did not. There are just as many people who like the film as they are people that don't. Critical response not withstanding...but you don't make that much money without a lot of people "liking" the film.

I recently saw Inglorious Bastards finally, I thought it was a "good" film experience, now my friends are telling me not to like it cause it's inaccurate(to say the least) it's got caricatures as leads and it's making dopey jokes out of WW2, something both grave as well as something that has been done before and very well.

Inglorious Bastards, the silliest war film to date(next to pearl harbor apparently).
10usd. and a "good" film experience subjectively speaking

All signs point to the second sequel being more tonally focused. Good news.

My questions is who is the Ferrari? Roadbuster?

My hype level for this movie is going up slowly I believe Bay & CO. are going balls to wall on this flick and its gonna be crazy.
Any way heres what it shoulda been...........

The origins……The Fallen betrayed the other 12 primes in a grand battle with his first minion Megatron whom the Fallen created to be the General over the Decepticon Army. While the Primes were dedicated to serving and worshipping the cube, and taught from the knowledge of the cube to respect all forms of life the Fallen wanted the cube for his own purposes of ruling the galaxy leading to the beginning of the war. The Primes on the verge of defeat used the cube to give birth to the Auto bot race and that of Optimus Prime to stand for peace and justice on Cybertron. The Primes had taken all their knowledge and a piece of each of the original 12’s spark and placed it in a gold shielded capsule called matrix of leadership, and sacrificed themselves to hide the cube on planet earth far out of the reach of The Fallen. Without the cube the Fallen couldn’t fully recover from the battle with the Primes and entered a state of stasis and leaving the rule of the Decepticons to his first disciple Megatron. During the 1000 th year of the war the Autobot Nation had dwindled down to the last survivors which made up Optimus Primes army. Megatron sent out hundreds of scouting drones throughout the galaxy with no results unitl finally his number 2 in command and lead communications expert Soundwave discovered technology on a unknown planet millions of galaxies away from Cybertron called earth. Without notifying the rest of his horde Megatron set out to capture the cube and destroy anything in his path. Starscream the leading soldier in the decepticon army being determined to one day rule cybertron, disabled Megatron atmospheric defenses and communication unknowingly to Megatron causing him to crash into the Northern hemisphere of the Earth and been buried under millions of years of ice undectatable to the rest of the decepticons. Soundwave and Starscream now rule the decepticons in two separate factions with Starscream having control of the army and Soundwave leading in Communication, transport and leading the search for Megatron and the All-Spark. Soundwave has been relentlessly searching all the planets in the galaxy for Megastron for hundreds of years, while deploying a team of decepticons to earth to search , no traces of MEgatron have been found to date, but the Decepticons have been secretly developing the planet earth and the technology here to one day take over this planet as their new home and use the natural resources as a replacement of energy for the All-Spark. Earth’s temperature slowing increasing over the years have melted away at the icy tomb where Megatron rests and Soundwave has finally located Megatron and has sent word back to Starscream of the discovery. Soundwave now has deployed a battalion of his decepticon spies to retrieve Megatron and determine the location of the All-Spark.
The Auto bots using their own spy intercepted the transmissions from Soundwave have arrived on earth to stop Soundwave from freeing Megatron and recover the cube to rebuild the Auotbot nation and over take the control of the decepticons on Cybertron.

The first movie shoulda showed Soundwave and the Construticons revivng Megs and ending in the defeat of the Autobots. but the Autobots where able to destroy the cube..do a movie different for a change where the heroes lose ...

Second movie coulda surronded Decpticons attempting to revive the Fallen somehow, IDK maybe a weapon that would transfer power from sun to awken the Fallen. Autobots defeat Decepticons and send them back to space.

Third one could be set in not so distant future as a nod to original 1986 animated movie be a huge war on earth, Optimus is killed passing the matrix onto Hot Rod, by doing so he awkens Uniciron.

Just because they are releasing toys for certain TF characters doesn't mean they will be in the movie, I mean look at all the toys they released for ROTF that weren't even in the film. That's the only reason I don't rely on if there is a toy then the character will be in the film, but who knows.

Mirage is my favorite G1 Autobot of all time; if that is Mirage and he is in DOTM, the Lowers car is a pretty good update to his alt mode. It would be cool to see his invisibility powers. He is the 'true' spy of the Autobots and not BB.

Sorry if this is a rehash but apparently Bay came out and admitted his mistakes with TF2 ......

In an interview with LA Times, Michael Bay finally admitted that "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was terrible and claims to have learned from his mistakes.

"It was kind of a mess. It failed in some key ways. I learned from it," said Bay. "And now with this third movie we're going back to basics and I absolutely believe this is going to be a much better film than the second one. I'm trying to make up for ['Transformers 2']. I think we have something to prove with this third one."

He went on to explain what exactly went wrong. "The big thing was the writers strike. We had three weeks to get our story and we were going into the movie without a script. It's tough to do that. It was too big of a movie," the director explained. "There were too many endings or too many things that felt like endings. There was so much animation too, and we ran out of time. It felt like we were writing the script in the edit room, trying to put together a story."

Bay is happy that "Transformers 2" ended up being the third highest-earning film of the year and is shocked that the franchise is doing so well. "The term I used at the time was 'stupid idea'," he said about when Steven Spielberg approached him to direct the first film back in 2005. But after learning of the characters and the mythology, Bay began to warm up to the idea.
