Cap is probably marvel's most proficient fighter, with a combination of martial arts training, boxing etc.
What kind of things do you want to see in the movie's fight scenes? what's cap's fighting style gonna be like, and the acrobatics.

I would like to see a lot of tumbling. Cap using his shield a lot, for more than just throwing it at things, and a lot of Cap without his shield fighting. (Lots of bad guys think he is nothing without his shield.)
I want to see him knowledgeable about leverage, taking hits on purpose, stuff like that.
He should also be knowledgeable about battle strategies too, like war strategy. Previous battles, and what the best maneuvers and plans would be.

Lots of jumping and flipping around. Really acrobatic stuff. And if that shield doesn't end up ricocheting all over the place, I will be one disappointed fanboy.

werd. been a minute since i've posted 'round these parts...
if Blonsky & the Hulks fight in TIH was a good sneak peek...
I'd like to see an agile Cap. It'd be really cool if they showed all of the athletic abilities of Cap.
It would also rock if there was more combat, unlike IM & TIH.
We saw glimpses of what those characters could do.
But, I want to see Cap in the thick of it through a good chunk of the movie. He did end up on the front lines, didn't he?

I kind of picture his fight scenes (especially with multiple enemies) as being remeniscent of the kinds of things Neo did in the Matrix movies...obviously not as superhuman but definitely an above-average ability to move fluidly through a battlefield engaging multiple targets...especially when those targets are enlisted men or that sort of thing.
There would be less martial arts maybe than the Matrix but I like the idea of Cap being limber and agile to the point that he works his way around a battlefield in an efficient manner with deadly effectiveness.

i would say he should be acrobatic, have skilled hand to hand fighting techniques, some good moves with the shield. Then handy with other weapons like knifes, guns, bombs.
I would like to "see", the fights.
What I mean by that...no, herky jerky, what was that, camera work; featuring lots of shield slinging, Nazi smashin' acrobatics, and awe inspiring pesonification of Cap's skill and prowess.

They could just have the Nazis standing round Cap in a circle while he systematically kicks them in the face using a conveniently placed pommel-horse.

Come to think of it, wasnt Cyril Raffaelli the Blonsky stunt double in TIH?

Cap HAS to do this to one guy and it has to be in slow motion like this, if he does something like this ill ****ing scream in the theater.

I, personally, would like to see Cap be Patton proficient in terms of battlefield saavy, Achilles proficient in his shieldwork (plus some good old-fashioned shield tosses for good measure), Matt Hughes in terms of actual fighting style, and excellent parkour for good measure.

Kinda like that, only with a shield. Basically I want him to be really efficient, but not Batman efficient where it's kinda ugly, because Cap is more fantasy you can do stuff like this, maybe some acrobatics although I really REALLY hate those in movies.

Krav Maga would be the most suitable to Captain America. Presently used by the marines, and just simply breathtaking to watch.

Also very ironic to use a Hebrew art on Nazi soldiers too... :awesome:
PS: My favorite is 2:58 - 3:36, great sequence for when an unarmed Cap has two Nazi pointing a gun to his head.

US Army Combatives (they used LINE then) at the time were based upon Boxing and Greco Roman wrestling so I think that's the way they should go with his hand to hand training to keep it authentic.
A more modern version of our Combatives like MCMAP.

guess i wasnt the only one thinking that...when i saw the guy do all these moves with it all i could think was "damn Cap better do this in the movie."
it also dawned on me that Cap is basically a Spartan. They both fight for their country, the perfect warrior, use shields, armored and amazing hand to hand fighters.

Cap fighting style - He has blended Judo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judo), Western boxing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing) and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts. I hope Cap's fighting will be kicking some guys ass in the movie, he should be a one man army.

It has to be Kirby-esque.
Cap in action should be an explosion of acrobatic energy and power, blasting into people and taking down multiple enemies at once.

Obviously his mobility and agility combined with power is vital, then some inventive uses of the shield. As for a specific sequence I'd like to see, I'd like to see Cap and Red Skull battling atop a tank. :woot:

After seeing the black widow fight in iron man 2, I imagine that cap's fight scenes will be similar but even more acrobatic and brutal. I wanna see cap doing flip kicks and such but also some elbowing. I hope they use Parkour guys to do the stunts, as they can pull off some amazing acrobatic moves. More importantly, I hope they don't resort to cgi for the acrobatics/fights no matter how crazy the move is I'm sure it can be done by parkour stunt guys :cap:

it'll probably be quite similar to what Tim Roth did in Incredible Hulk, which I thought was pretty cool although faster, stronger and better... I liked the acrobatics and moves in that film. The American Captain needs to be more brutal, stronger and move faster like a panther, maybe they can call him the American Panther or Panther American

I want Caps abilities to make Black Widow's lucha libre from IM2 and Blonsky's acrobatics against the Hulk in TIH look like ****.
I want to see Cap just go into battle and kick like 10 Nazi's asses at once.
Hoping for a D-Day scene.
Cap's fighting style should be a mixture of what the black widow did in IM2 and how Steven Segal fought in his early movies... BRUTAL and quick with no wasted motions.

I really would like Caps fighting style being much more dynamic than Segal or Bourne. Besides his punching I want to see alot of kicks and crazy flips. His fighting style has to be his own born from his combination of agility, speed, endurance, and strength as well as his awareness and use of his surroundings.

Bingo!!!
I was just about to say this. Cap should fight like Jason Bourne but with gymnastics as part of his reportoir.
P.S. No quick cut edits and for the love of cheese, no shakey cam!

They didn't but the way I see it is that cap created his own fighting style based on what he learned in training and his ability to do extremely acrobatic movements.
Meaning that the style or technique could pass as a very advanced fighting style that only he (in his human peek condition) can perform.
He can take what he knows to the extreme.
Plus it doesn't have to be a specific style but several modern styles mixed and modified with all the acrobatic stuff so it ends up being something unique. Afterall cap is supposed to look like someone ahead of his time in terms of how he fights.

Simply put, the Nazis would be pissing in their pants.

I'm not suggesting that Cap fight like Ray Mysterio Jr. I'm suggesting that his fighting style be both acrobatic and quick... but also BRUTAL. He would disable enemy troops as quickly as possible to save his life and the lives of the GIs he's with. I liked the fight choreography in the Black Widow fight because it wasn't a shaky cam (close up) but fluid and quick!

Funnilly enough though, one of the few things I think they got right at points was Cap's fighting in the 1990 movie. Obviously, they were hampered by a lack of budget, talent, know-how and technology but every time I see 09:04 onwards, I get what they were trying to do-

Obviously, there's a distinction between how Cap actually fights [what styles he uses etc] and how he moves around - but the moves in that vid are perfect for Cap. That kinda agility is awesome.
The guy would make for a great stunt double for Evans - Would I be right in thinking that he's already been Kick-Ass' stunt double?

But Cap's been shown to be at least that agile for years. One of my fondest childood stories when I was a kid was 'To Tame a Tumbler' from Captain America #291 and I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen Cap showing mad acrobatic skills when running from rooftop to rooftop.
Why wouldnt they try to get that agility on screen?
Parkour's just the name of the concept, but the concept itself is nothing new - Cap was doing it before the guys who invented it were even born :D

Watch the trailers for District 13 and District 13 Ultimatum. Obviously, Captain America should neither be [A] as crappy looking in terms of story/acting, or [B] quite so over the top. But some of the parkour in that would work well for Cap I think.

Depends on how they go with the SS though really. If they go 616 and Cap's just peak human, then no way is he stopping a vehicle by bashing it with his shield.
If they go Utilimate though, then Cap will be able to do it, easy.
