I've liked the series so far. For adapting a comic concept, these films have been written fairly well. Clearly you can't honor every comic detail. But I think the gist of the characters are being constructed with care. I look forward to the next installment.

I think the wait is actually good in some ways.

1. it did wonder for GL.
if the product wasn't ready they should have waited till it was, now that movie is swimming in bad buzz from all fronts. At least xmen has the protection of the unknown....and the previous films..for better or worse.

2. with all the crap popping out right now, it maybe better to release some stuff when everyone isn't talking about spiderman/spalding man or teh puffy Cap.

I do think a teaser should come out before the superbowl...but then again, who doesn't know the xmen.

ps. this will look like kick ass in terms of production and lighting mark my words.

Fox IS creating some buzz with NO info. so when the trailer hits the net, if its good enought, it will be a big news that day and people will love it, including many haters.

Issue # 6: Seeing is believing

There is no widely-available X-Men: First Class trailer as yet. With such a short timespan from Vaughn signing to direct the film to the due delivery date, there has no doubt been a major rush on to get some kind of effects footage together, and most pundits seem to agree that some kind of teaser will play during this year's Super Bowl on 6 February, which would most likely see it emerge online the preceding Friday.

However Fox have been screening a trailer ahead of then, and The Daily Blam has been able to offer a pretty comprehensive description of what goes down in it (which is from where we gleaned some of the above character info). Fans of the previous movies will surely be heartened by the note of continuity struck by having Sirs Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan provide the opening narration, although by the sounds of it there is no sign of anything that might relate to the “dream-space combat” sequence Vaughn felt compelled to amend after watching Inception. Will one of Xavier's sojourns to the astral plane finally be given cinematic realisation? Or have those scenes completely bitten the dust?

Rumour has it that Fox fancies X-Men: First Class as the first in a new trilogy, although there is also a suggestion that Singer has earmarked an X-Men 4 proper for himself. Either way, UK audiences will get the chance to judge Vaughn's movie when it opens on 2 June, with US movie-goers having to wait a further 24 hours to see it.
