View Full Version : Spidey's skills - perfect or a work in progress?

Was watching the 2002 Spider-Man movie the other day and realized Pete had perfect abilities from the get-go: crazy acrobatics, perfectly aware of all his web capabilities, everything. Should the new movie progress his skills as he adapts more to his powers? I vote yes.

I think that when he gets his powers, he has lots of skills but doesn't know how to use them. As the movie progresses, he becomes better.

I agree with the last post

Well he's teenager so I think that would be the way to go. I would like to see him slowly learn his powers (but no origin story please) and also show moves that weren't even in Raimi's films, and there are many of those.

Exactly. He has the capability, but doesn't have the knowledge.

So far it's unanimous.

Spiderman's skills should develop over the course of the new franchise.

Yes. I love that he actually uses his webs to find out where the Lizard is; as a sort-of sonar device. It shows Peter's true ingenuity when it comes to improvising a plan and solution. It's just a show of his genius.

No it didn't. It came from a source that said it was part of the film. Never in a trailer description.

Are you sure? I remember a fake trailer description that ended with Spidey feeling the vibrations of his webs to find the Lizard. Do you have a link?

Spiderman6592

I can't find the link but it was a rumored scene. It wasn't the end of a trailer description. This was the only trailer description we ever got from a "Comic Con employee":

"Trailer opens with Peter Parker [Andrew Garfield] being beaten by bullies, one of which is played by Chris Zylka.
Shots of Dr.Connors [Rhys Ifans] being injected by a greenish fluid in a lab.
Shot of Parker being bitten by a spider,in his own house in what appears to be an attic lab.
Shots of Gwen Stacy's face, Uncle Ben's face and Aunt May's face.
Shot of an alley with Ben [Martin Sheen] and Parker, then one of a dying Ben who utters 'With Greatest power must come greatest responsibility, never forget that.'
Shot of Parker putting on the costume, camera angle from his back. He turns and is now atop The Empire State Building.
Goes black for a few seconds, we hear some monstrous sounds and cut to Connors' lab where his foot transforms into a scaly one. Goes black and we hear roars.
Then we see a giant web with the title The Amazing Spider-Man. Coming Next Summer in 3d and Imax."

Well, it's pretty easy to answer that question. He has a new ability or several new abilities and like anything new that you undertake it requires practice to become proficient. It only makes sense that his abilities will progress the more he practices/uses them.

It was from someone on CBM who said somebody told them the following when they went to see Green Lantern. :|

"There is this scene where he's in the subway then slings a bunch of webs around. Using them so he can hear or feel the vibrations in the tunnels."

The description posted has no trace of what I was talking about :oldrazz:

I don't remember where I heard it from. I remember we had a whole conversation about the scene with the webs, but I don't remember which thread and I'm not about to dig through them with all this homework... that I'm supposed to be doing right now :woot:

Yeah, you were right. Still seems fishy (not the scene, the credibility).

EDIT: Troy beat me to it.

This sums up my thoughts perfectly. Hopefully over the course of the series, he learns to use his powers to become a better fighter. Utilizing his webs to make it even easier to fight his opponents. I.E. Web balls or webbing to enemies & slamming them into each other.

Who knows what pretty reliable means, but there's nothing to discount it. There's been no disconfirmation.

Isn't that obviously fake, considering whoever that was was a Comic-Con employee and that sounds NOTHING like the Comic-Con footage?

That and the fact that it says "Shot of Parker being bitten by a spider,in his own house in what appears to be an attic lab." which we all know to be completely bogus, considering he gets bitten at Oscorp.

Just to be clear, I didn't think that Comic Book Movie description was real. I'm not stupid; Peter clearly gets bitten at Oscorp and not in his attic lab.

I hope they incorporate way more wall crawing in this one. A spiders' chief ability is that it can easily adhere to walls and ceiling and walk on these surfaces as one would walk on a floor, not swinging on webs.
