First the news
Saban re-acquires rights to 'Rangers'
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118019212.html?categoryid=14&cs=1
The Power Rangers have come home.
Haim Saban's newly formed Saban Brands company has re-acquired from Disney the rights to the "Power Rangers" franchise that built Saban's fortune in the mid-1990s. Saban has cut a deal with Nickelodeon for 20 new "Power Rangers" episodes, while the library of some 700 older segs will begin airing on cabler Nicktoons later this year.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's likely that the property commanded a price tag in the nine-figure range. At the time Disney acquired "Power Rangers" along with its acquisition of Fox Family Worldwide in 2001, the franchise had grossed an astounding $5 billion in retail sales alone.

I encourage people to at least give this series a look.
The series is fully subbed by TVNIHON.com. Need help finding where to download the episodes please PM me.
It's a very decent series

I must admit that since Power Ranger's quality has dipped over the last 7 years i've completely went over to the Japanese side(Super Sentai series)
BUT i'm willing to bat for both teams. I know some people who have turned a blind eye to only side and i'm not like that.
With that said, the power rangers return.

I'm glad it's back. No child should be without the memories of watching fast dubbed and splice Power Rangers in their childhood.

Glad the Power is back. Just hope that it does well, and that it's still a part of the overall series and not a reboot. Like to see the show go on for a few years, and then bring a old cast member back for a mentor role. Like Tommy;expect let them do things this time.

Mako(ShinkenPink) is regal and incredibly gorgeous.

Interestingly enough, the original casting sheet at Actors Access (http://www.actorsaccess.com/projects/?view=breakdowns&breakdown=225681®ion=1) has been re-released today, with a short note of thanks about interest in the project:
"Thank-you for the wonderful response on this project! It has been great hearing from everyone. If you have not submitted, please continue to do so. I will be scheduling auditions for LA next week and will begin seeing talent the first week of June and through-out the month. I will hold one casting day in San Diego."

I kind of think of Power Rangers as Generations, almost like with Transformers.
Gen 1: Mighty Morphin' - In Space
Gen 2: Lost Galaxy - Wild Force
Gen 3: Ninja Storm - RPM
Gen 1, of course, the Zordon era.
Gen 2 is the post-Zordon era; new cast each season with only a slight connection with the past Gen particularly with Lost Galaxy and Forever Red.
Gen 3 is the "Disney Era"; with practically NO connection with the Zordon era at all, except Tommy.
JustABill

I dont get hat you mean. Essentially every season is a reboot
Mighty Morphin Through Space are all linked, storywise.
Then the crap seasons all link back to that once Tommy just randomly shows up again.
Let's make this season the first time any such thing as a Power Ranger exist again.
Squidboy

Whatever Saban does with the show, I think I'm going to have to seat my nieces in front of that show and keep them away from all the Hannah Montana-type crap. We're already working on the "Go Go Power Rangers" song while we re-watch the ABC reruns on Saturdays, so she should be ready by the time the new show comes out. I'm willing to bet the show will pick up with the latest Ranger incarnation, but hopefully have a much closer connection to the rest of the seasons than some of the previous ones have. Maybe include some Power Ranger alumni as mentors again, so the chances of reunion episodes can happen more naturally than Forever Red or Once a Ranger.
On the idea of a new PR movie, THAT should definitely be a reboot of the original series in the same respect of JJ Abrams' Star Trek, where you essentially start from scratch, while still paying tribute to what came before. I think that would definitely do some good for the Power Rangers franchise, and I think technology is finally where it needs to be, so we don't get the clunky CGI Megazords that we had in the first movie. Think more along the lines of Transformers-type CGI robots to give the idea of linking fighting robots some credibility and realism.

I feel that Disney saw the Power Rangers franchise totally expendable once they got ahold of Marvel. Also, Disney really neglicated Power Rangers over time. It started when Jetix turned into Disney XD, moving Power Rangers off the air in cable in the process. Then on ABC, often times, the shows were preempted by live sports programming such as college football. Other times, some of ABC's affiliate broadcasting groups wouldn't air it at all because of the lack of FCC-compliant educational and informational content in the programs.

Should be up to Saban now since he bought the rights back.
And ya, while I am basically fine with it being filmed in NZ, the show changed a bit when they went over there. Plus it makes it harder for oldies to come back unless Saban isnt as cheap as Disney was when it came to flying people out....which he probably will be.

With Samurai Sentai Shinkenger completed the writers should have enough time to hammer out a good story. They don't have to rush like in the past.
In the past all Toei(the company behind the marketing and such of the sentai series) did was provide a rough outline to the American folks and then the American production crew/writers winged it.
None of which mattered, because this year, Chip crowed, the Sentai has given us everything we could ask for! Have you seen these early pictures? The robots are spaceships? They ride fling jet-things! My god- we can turn this series into a war in space with no effort at all, and tie off everything perfectly! The Sentai had handed them everything they ever wanted, the Rangers were high schoolers, just like PR had always done, and they had a team of EVIL RANGERS to fight, the plot PR had wanted to do for 6 years!
...and then he saw the actual episodes.
"What do you mean they never go to space?"
Megaranger, touted as a 'Space Sentai,' was actually video-game themed. They never left Earth, their ship was in orbit, it just flew down to Earth for the fights. There was no footage of the ships sailing the stars, no alien landscapes or monsters, no... SPACE at all from the Sentai that was destined to be 'Power Rangers in Space.'
"**** it, we're doing it anyway."

its just the repetitive story structure. if you have seen 5 episodes you have seen them all.
Shows like the new Ninja Turtles cartoon and Avatar the last Airbender have proven that shows with some depth and a long arcing story can be a hit with kids. I just want to see Power Rangers be given a chance like that. For them to be that awesome.

I don't see how its a bad thing....from what ive seen, they each have certain themes that progress through the season....they aren't overt but they are there...
SPD started with the B team who weren't supposed to be Rangers but had to step up and eventually take on the A squad
Ninja Storm had them deal with 2 Rangers gone bad, then had Cam as a Ranger some time later on
I seem to recall some relationship stuff in Lightspeed Rescue between the black guy and the hot scientist lady
with Power Rangers I find its best to keep it simple....you want to get all fancy, you get Mystic Force and no one wants that

Think more along the lines of Transformers-type CGI robots to give the idea of linking fighting robots some credibility and realism.
That seems possible. But from the way its phrased in the announcement, it'll probably be a spinoff from the newer series. And since Saban moved PR from Disney to Nickelodeon/Viacom, Paramount is the likely candidate to co-finance and distribute a third movie.
Gen 3 is the "Disney Era"; with practically NO connection with the Zordon era at all, except Tommy.
And Adam, if you count OO's "Once a Ranger" two-parter. RPM is pretty much its own separate universe, and it's the best Disney-era season IMO. It deconstructed the whole concept, but it knew when to play it straight or make people laugh.
Saban intends to make the future PR seasons more campier than the previous seasons, but that could backfire.

I don't remember the series much, but the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Movie was the shiz, I watched that movie like all the time when I was like 6. I even re-watched it a few years back when I found the tape and a tape player :O and still enjoyed it, so if the newer stuff isn't as campy and poorly acted as what I saw on Jetix I'd watch (plus they need cooler costumes, less shiny faux foil material)
oh yeah, and I vaguely remember the one where there was a black cowboy blue ranger and an athletic yellow ranger??? don't recall the name, I think the pink ranger was E. Asian and they were from the future or something

WESLEY
In trouble? Are you joking? Thanks to you, I will be able to open my own restaurant. I've been interviewed for magazines! Gold Sushi is famous!
AVA
Are you sure this is what you want?
WESLEY
Of course! It's my life's dream.
AVA
Is it?
WESLEY's happy face fades.
WESLEY sits.
WESLEY
Ever since I took over for my father, I promised myself that I would someday turn this place into a great restaurant. When I was a kid, my father sold this business and I was so upset about it, I ran away from home. I'm starting to understand more why he did it.
AVA
Wesley...
WESLEY
Even if it's not exactly how I imagined it, I still get to open a restaurant, right. I can always serve sushi too.
AVA sits opposite him. She pretends to be a customer.
AVA
I would like one piece of sushi, please.
WESLEY prepares a tuna roll and serves AVA.
WESLEY
Here you are.
She takes a bite. It's bad. Wesley looks disappointed.
AVA
It doesn't taste as good. Tastes kind of like curry.
WESLEY
I've been up to my eyeballs in curry.
AVA
I think I prefer the old Wesley. Your dream was a sushi restaurant, not curry, right?
WESLEY stares at the pot of curry next to the fish and wasabi. He knows AVA is right.

There's no way you'll make it.
BARON stands up to leave.
BARON
You stay here. If by chance, you make it down, contact Reese and the others.
WESLEY
Wait...
WESLEY tries to get up but at first is too weak. BARON is attacked by foot soldiers and WESLEY comes and saves him.
BARON
What do you think you're doing? I told you-

I'm not, I just...
WESLEY
If you really considered me an equal, you wouldn't ask me to stay behind. You wouldn't ask Reese, would you? See, you don't take me seriously. I have always wanted to be a Ranger and I am up to the challenge. To you, it might seem like I'm just playing Super Hero, but if someone or something is about to take a life... I will fight to save it.

BARON
Don't worry. Reese and the others will come.
WESLEY stops, surprised.
WESLEY
You spoke with them?
BARON
No, but they'll be ready for practice soon. When they see I'm not there, they'll know something is wrong.
BARON walks past WESLEY.
WESLEY
Hey, wait for me.
WESLEY follows BARON up the hill.
WESLEY
They would know just because you missed practice?
BARON
I don't live a disciplined life for nothing. Reese and the others will come.
WESLEY
Okay. Entrusting your life means to have faith in the others...
BARON
Not faith. Certainty.
They reach the top.
BARON
We just have to hold them off until they get here.
An army of foot soldiers awaits them. It's time for battle.

POWER RANGER SKINNY MACK and BIG JACK SIDES
EXT Park - day
Skinny Mack and Big Jack get their groove on as they are walking through Bark Park in their cleanup getup and gear with a dozen clothes pins attached to their uniform.
SKINNY MACK
Oh, a Hot dog.
Big Jack looks as a wiener dog walks by.
BIG JACK
Yeah, that’s Hot Dog alright!
SKINNY MACK
No, I mean a hot dog
(He finds a hot dog on the ground and picks it up with his trash grabber tongs.)
SKINNY MACK
Did you know that a dog is man’s best friend?
BIG JACK
Yes, but cats have nine lives.
SKINNY MACK
But we wouldn’t have a job if wasn’t for dogs.
(He attaches a clothes pin on his nose as he goes to scoop the poop.)
Wow, looks like Skippy got into the family barbecue last night, looks like a whole corn cob.
BIG JACK
(Oblivious to what Skinny Mack is doing, he sings and dances as he daydreams about the perfect barbecue.)
Mm mm….. Barbecue. Hot Dogs, Corn, Ribs… I could go for a barbecue right now.
SKINNY MACK
Big J, You always have food on your mind. Let’s get back to work.
SKINNY MACK AND BIG JACK
(Singing and dancing away)
I had a dog named Hooper, went doodie on the lawn, thank you Hooper for makin us the coolest Pooper Scoopers! walking the dogs….. walking the dogs…. walking the dogs!
[SKINNY MACK] 18-23 year old all ethnicity male. He has a slim, lanky build with great comedic abilities. He is someone that you look at and he makes you laugh. Skinny Mack and his sidekick, Big Jack work as street cleaners and have an entertaining way of picking up trash alongside the streets by dancing their way through the streets with broom in hand. They are the comedic relief and the fun side of each story. They are constantly getting themselves in difficult but comedic situations. These two characters are similar to Laurel and Hardy or Bulk and Skull, both with over the top slap stick skills. Dance, street dancing or hip hop abilities are a big plus.

Ron Wasserman won't be doing the music for the new season
Hello Everyone,
Well I just heard from Jonathan Tzachor that they have someone else doing the music for Saban's new Power Rangers and I will not be involved in any capacity.
So, after so many years of involvement with the show, I think it's best to put it in my past, be happy for all the great years I was involved with it and just let it go.
I sincerely wish big success and a long run for all who will be involved with the new production.
To the PR fans - Thanks so much for always making me feel so appreciated for my work on the show.
Over and out!
Best,
Ron Wasserman
PS - I'll still be at Morphicon on Saturday August 28th. So see some of you there!

Actually Billy was the only one to turn back into an adult(which has consequences in Zeo)
The kids were then asked to search for the zeo crystal. When they were teens they had broken the crystal into five pieces and scattered it across time.
Each of the kids jumped into a time portal to begin their zeo quest.
Using the zeo crystal the kids could turn back time to its proper time. Aisha
decided to stay in the past but gave her Zeo crystal to Tanya.
Meanwhile Goldar and Rito set up a bomb under the command center.
Time is reversed using the zeo crystal. Everyone is back to beginning a teen. Suddenly the crystal explodes presumably taking Zordon and Alpha with it

Favorite Ranger series:
MMPR-including Alien Rangers. I loved the Green Ranger saga and the White Ranger. Also I loved Kimberly but Katherine was great.
Zeo- The appearance of the most underrated ranger with the most potential…The Gold Ranger baby! Never understood though why Tanya replaced Aisha as yellow ranger (I see above thanks:doh:)
In Space- I loved Astronema and the Psycho Rangers
Lost Galaxy-Iloved Karone lol
Time Force- I loved the fact that the Pink ranger was hot and the leader sort of and there were three Red Rangers sort of (Red Alex, Red Wes, & Quantum Eric)
Dino Thunder- Tommy Oliver, need I say more. Okay then, Mesogog was the coolest villain in PR history (along with Dai Shi in Jungle Fury) and Elsa was pretty hot too.
SPD- It was great and it was kind of linked to Time Force. Also, the fact that they possessed superhuman powers outside of their ranger abilities was a plus (and they were the B-squad no less). Add in the Kat Ranger, SPD Shadow Ranger, Omega Ranger, and the brief appearance of Nova Ranger made this the best of the Disney incarnation. Trivia: did you know there was another SPD ranger that only made print and not TV-The Lightning Ranger—look it up.
RPM-it was just hardcore for a Ranger series anyway. The story surrounding the Black Ranger & Tenaya 7 being brother and sister was great and the post apocalyptic setup made this show.

Power Rangers In Space was when power rangers really ended, then we had a couple bad seasons and then Disney took over, ruined it even more (the only good series Disney had was one that involved mighty mighty jason david frank in dino thunder). You know it was bad when Saban buys pr back and takes it to Nick. I see hope for this franchise

I remember seeing the Saban announcement months ago and it brought back all the excitement I had as a kid watching this series. I have to co-sign others' comments about the show being irrelevant right about the time Zeo ended. I was part of the original Power Rangers fanbase; I was 8 years old, we had alllllll (and I do mean all) the PR paraphernalia a family of children could have, from sheets and towels, to toothbrushes, all the zords, etc...
I am so excited to have this show back in good hands, and I hope they make the re-vamp amazeballs. I'm 25 now, and when I see it will "morph" right back to that little 8 year old kid who played power rangers with his group of friends on the playground at school. YES!

The reimagined DinoThunder is a doozy. :wow:

Whoops I forgot to mention Jessica Rey in the pictures as well. She played Wildforce pink.
She's on the right of Tracey in the top picture
Cerina's left in the bottom picture.
I wonder if people here know about Jason david Frank and his venture into MMA

I don't know, but I know the MMA types are well aware of his PR history. His involvement in the show is highly advertised before any of his matches, and I think his home gym is actually decked out in PR stuff, complete with his former costumes hanging on the wall.
