Now That He's Off The Island, Sawyer Wants To Be An Avenger!

AvengerNews (http://avengersnews.com/2010/05/31/josh-holloway-found-by-marvel-studios/) has an interesting possibility in the world of Marvel casting news this week involving everyone’s favorite bad boy, Josh Holloway (Lost):
Apparently there’s been talk between Marvel and his [Josh Holloway] group to play a “lead” role in an upcoming Marvel film. We mention a “lead” role because these bigger actors often won’t sign “retainers”, meaning everything should be 100% locked (character, film, etc) for Josh once he’s signed the dotted line.
AvengerNews also put together an interesting short list of possible Marvel characters Holloway might be playing based on “the subtle hints we’ve received.”
The list includes: Hank Pym (The Avengers or the planned Ant-Man solo movie), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (possible S.H.I.E.L.D. member in The Avengers and the planned S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off movie), and Timothy “Dum Dum” Dugan (high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. member in The Avengers and lead role in the planned S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off movie).
Of those listed above I’d personally like to see him as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawkeye_%28comics%29).


Some of you may recall Holloway was a fan favorite choice to play Gambit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambit_%28comics%29) for many years, but that never panned out. I’m a big fan of Holloway and I’ll be following this news closely.

While I'd hardly call Holloway a big actor, I'd really like to see Sawyer on the Avengers. In which case, only Hawkeye makes sense.

Here's a weird one. What if they wanted to kill two birds with one stone and they used Clint Barton from when he was Goliath? No Green Arrow comparisons. Keep smart ass Clint. Get rid of the Pym's storyline. Keep foil for Cap and the rest.

Skipping over so many more classic Avengers and going straight to Sentry would be terrible! It's not like he's THAT popular that he deserves to be in the movie more than the likes of Vision, Wonder Man, Black Panther, Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, Hercules etc.

it doesn't say he'll be an avenger or in the avengers or even a hero. just a main role in a future marvel studios film. in fact i think one report of this news said he was a character that hadn't been an avenger.

I've recently gotten into Lost and I also would have to say I can't see him as Ant-Man but the role would be a great example of his acting ability so I wouldn't necessarily be against it.
