Agreed. That's not the first time I've heard a proposition for an Anakin / Padme / Obi-Wan triangle, and I've always hated it. It greatly cheapens Anakin's descent to the dark side and his lust for power, because he would have been betrayed by Obi-Wan outright rather than being the traitor himself. Also, it would give Luke reason to have serious beef with Obi-Wan, as well. How would you feel if you found out that a man you'd once respected not only lied about where your father was, but also had an affair with your mother? I'd be pretty darned pissed, even as a viewer, and frankly I'm glad Lucas did not sully the character's reputation by showing him as a carnal and covetous man.

Well, that's fandom for you. Their Ideas > Creators idea.

I have no trouble believing this. I mean, alot of the complaints about the PT are in the OT also.

Corny, terribly written dialogue? Check.
Badly acted? Check.

It's like Ford himself said. You can write this stuff. But you can't say this stuff.

I really don't know where else to post this but I was arguing with some friends the other day about who would win in a fight. A Jedi or a Super Saiyan. I would like to get some opinions on it. My guess is a Super Saiyan. Hell, I think a regular Saiyan would mop up a Jedi.

Hi,

You can't really say that Alec Guinness, Ford, Fisher and Peter Cushing acting were bad, that is not true.
Terrible written dialogue : there are more quotable dialogue in one OT movie than the whole PT and that include the infamous Darth Maul "at least we will have revenge".

in one of the young boba fett novels dooku offers to train him in the ways of the force, this took place shortly after the end of episode 2
he turned down the offer, but whether it were possible or not is unknown, i think dooku was trying to play on boba's anger/hate over the loss of jango

Dooku did train Grevious, but Grevious is not force sensitive to my belief. You can train to become skilled with a lightsaber, but Grevious' race was a warrior one, so I guess it depends upon the being. but you do need to be force sensitive to become a full fledged Jedi.

But you can't be a real Jedi. I'm sure anyone can fight with a lightsaber, even someone so skilled as one still wouldn't be able to stand up to a regular Jedi. Unless you're Grevious who is half machine and organic warrior.

Since Lucas said a lightsaber is very heavy, one would think it would be light to a Jedi.

Just saw the newest Clone Wars episode on the Official Site. Very impressed, I LOVED the Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ventress fight at the beginning and the little quips of humor throughout it. And the Dooku fight was just too awesome. When he said something like, "I don't need my eyes to defeat you Jedi" it was awesome and he begins to kick ass. Loved everything about this episode and I'm way pumped to see the final two episodes of this trilogy.

Edit: Forgot to mention how much I loved Ventress force choking both Anakin and Obi-Wan together. Too awesome!

The Nightsisters is probaly the best episode of CW I've see. I haven't seen that many episode but this is episode is no lower than the second best episode I've seen and more than likely the best.

And as far as the original versions of the OT being released go, I think they'll be released packaged with the 2004 version just so there is no chnce of it out selling the remastered version since they would come packaged together.

Umm... Not really. An elephant with no trunk is an elephant with no trunk. A force user who can use a lightsaber ain't a Jedi unless they are part of the Jedi order. The Jedi are a specific monastic order of knights, and if you are not trained by a Jedi and confirmed as a Knight then you are not a Jedi. Also, the Sith are not "dark Jedi." They are their own religious order that uses the dark side of the force. Simply put, all Jedi are force users, but not all force users are Jedi.

So what would someone who is a force user and practiced under a Jedi or Sith (but not trained under orders of their respective order, in secret one could say) and decided to go renegade for their own individual purposes.

At that point would they just be a "Rogue wielding lightsaber _______ profession"?

There are a lot of Force practicing orders besides Jedi and Sith (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Force#Organized_Force_traditions), kind of like a real life religion like Christianity. I haven't heard of any Star Wars character who was able to study the tenets of either Jedi Order or the Sith in secret, unless their teachings are easily available on a book. Meanwhile a Dark Jedi is once a Jedi who "resigned" from the order and started practicing the arts of the dark side, but haven't got any training from a Sith master nor was initiated to be a member of the Sith Order. So technically Count Dooku is a Dark Jedi before he was approached by Palpatine.

I wonder if a lot of people were confused back then? If they didn't see the re-release of ANH, would they assume that there were 3 episodes in between the ANH and ESB that they had missed? Also, I wonder how aware the public was that Lucas planned on doing prequels in the future, and if there was a lot of confusion about why ANH was numbered "Episode IV" and not "Episode I?"

Golgo-13

Lets be honest; SW is not necessarily a franchise that caters to the GE. SW's biggest b.o draw, has always been the fans. Unlike other franchises, SW fans are so rabid and huge they dwarf the GE, so the fact that a few ppl might have been confused by 'IV' in the title, originally, was a moot issue because the people that counted, the fans, knew what the deal was.....

Indeed :woot:

I found an article that has an interview with Katie Lucas, since she`s the writer of the Nightsisters arc: http://popculturezoo.com/2011/01/katie-lucas-talks-about-the-next-star-wars-the-clone-wars/

Katie Lucas Talks About The Next Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Count Dooku visits the witches of Dathomir, seeking to replace Asajj Ventress with a new, deadlier apprentice. Little does he know that his new protégée – the formidable Savage Opress – has been selected by Ventress herself, and that the Nightsisters have used their witchcraft to transform the warrior into a monstrous killer without remorse, compassion or loyalty. The second chapter of a three-part Clone Wars arc, “Monster” airs at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT Friday, January 14 on Cartoon Network.

I’ve really fallen for Ventress, and here the audience gets to learn a lot about her history. She’s an extremely complicated character,” says Katie Lucas, writer of the three-part Nightsisters arc. “She’s a cold-hearted harpy, but she has good reason to be – and now she’s displaying a much more independent side of herself. Ventress is nobody’s pawn anymore. She finally owns herself. I grew up on Buffy and Tank Girl, so writing for strong females is second nature to me. I listened to a lot of early Hole and The Distillers albums to inspire me while writing these stories; I really wanted to tap into that visceral female rage, and Courtney Love’s snarl certainly tears that right out of you.”

While Ventress has certainly asserted herself and assumed a more powerful role than ever before, “Monster” also introduces an all-new villain into the power struggle. A warrior from the same fearsome race that spawned Episode I’s Darth Maul, Opress is bred and trained to serve – but he is destined to become more powerful than ever his masters had imagined.

“Savage is a lot like Frankenstein’s creation,” says Lucas. “He’s a monster, but you get brief glimpses of a real heart beneath the surface. He’s a complicated character – I don’t think he would have turned to the dark side without the manipulation of the witches. They use him.”
Daughter of the acclaimed Star Wars creator, Lucas acknowledges her personal connections to that “galaxy far, far away,” while still recognizing her writer’s responsibility to speak to the quintessentially Earth-bound human experience.

“If I hadn’t been raised in the Star Wars universe, I don’t think there would be any way I could write sci-fi. It doesn’t come naturally to me. I’ve had to adapt,” she says. “Part of being a screenwriter is knowing how to entertain, and the other part is staying true to your own vision. I’ve always been inspired by the truths of our world, universal and personal, here in our reality, and I try to bring as much of that as I can to The Clone Wars.”

I still haven't borrowed the first two seasons of Clone Wars from my Aunt's, but while I was over there we all watched "Nightsisters" I believe it was. When Count Dooku pretty much disowns Ventress. It was awesome! I can't believe how much I liked the episode. Maybe the Clone Wars series can really be a good thing for OT fans? Not that I hate the prequels so much anymore, I kinda think they are alright now but I usually ignore their existence when the OT is around.

Yes, the majority of cartoons today have replaced violence with stupidity.

You know the world be a better place if people were less violent. I commend the boy for being less violent.

Perhaps, but I don't see Star Wars as being that violent, just bits and pieces. Especially compared to some of the stuff out there. But I think it has a good lesson of what is right and wrong.

and this was written by his daughter...I am not ready for Lucas to become one with the force but on the day she takes over the franchise I think it will be in good hands

Indeed! Then again I think plenty of people are well suited for the franchise besides George Lucas. I have respect for the man and I've always wanted to meet him, but his writing on the prequels was terrible.

Where's the story of Anakin in all of this? We've probably seen him a whole two episode worth this season.

And thats a bad thing?

Should I go ahead and purchase the Clone Wars Micro Series, and the Ewok films, & the Ewok/Droids dvds............I did have Volume 1 of Clone Wars, way back in 2005,but don't know what happened to it....

currently the only Star Wars related media I have are current series: Star Wars The Clone Wars (the film & season 1 & season 2-well season 2 is on the way, I recently ordered it, well plus the Saga blu-ray I pre-ordered as soon as I found out LOL)

I tend to have bad luck, usually when I buy something on DVD, the next day I find out its coming out on Blu-Ray......its happened quite a few times and often the last few years (The X-Men Trilogy...Batman Anthology...and a host of others)? But I really loved the Original Clone Wars and still even kinda like it more than the current series (don't get me wrong, I really love the current series...)

Should I go ahead and purchase Clone Wars Micro Series/Ewok Adventures/Ewoks/Droids or try to wait and see if those are eventually on Blu?

I have but one querry about Opress: of ALL the villains in the SW galaxy to make him a brother to, you pick DARTH FREAKING MAUL? A character who barely said a word in TPM?! I'm serious, the guy never talked at all except for two lines in the whole movie! WTF?

Also, if Maul had a brother, why didn't Palpatine as Darth Sidious know about him? Opress may be a beast, but he's more efficient Sith apprentice that Dooku EVER was in terms of taking care of Sith-related business! Why pick Dooku and not this guy?

This sounds like a fair point, but I think it is best just to watch the telly and think 'cool, they can do another Darth Maul guy even though they killed off Darth Maul, he could be good in a few fights, and maybe they will give him more to say this time, and he will actually have a personality.'

I know, I know, but it's just that I always thought Dooku was a hack compared to all the other Sith Lords. 99.9% of the time he'd end up underestimating the situation and fail EPICLY, and he always, ALWAYS talked too much! He's a reverse Darth Vader, if you will. Don't get me wrong, though. I'm VERY forgiving of George Lucas and the prequel trilogy (i don't HATE TPM and AOTC, but they're not my favorites; ROTS is my favorite of the 6 filmd next to TESB), and I LOVE Christopher Lee as an actor. I just hate Dooku as a character.

those are still fairly affordable used

its the ewoks films and cartoon and droids that seem fairly unfair in price (mostly the ewok films)...not sure where ive been the last so many years but i didnt know (and if I did I forgot) but the ewoks/droids were a handful of episodes edited together...so those are of my list, its either the whole series (for both) or bust...

I hear ya, but bear in mind that none of them, ESPECIALLY the "Droids" cartoon, are not cannon to everything else Star Wars related. The end of ROTS confirmed it. I've seen on of the stories from Droids years ago called "The Pirates and the Prince", and it was so bad it doesn't even FEEL like Star Wars, moreso than the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special! Just because they had Anthony Daniels voicing C-3PO again doesn't mean what the people behind the show were doing was justified. The same can be said for the Ewoks cartoon, though that didn't have anyone from the films doing voiceovers.

ok, i take onboad your points, but he is on old geezer, give him a break, his mind was not what it used to be. (joke, i am not ageist)
I don't like any of the new characters introduced in the prequels, apart from Qui-Gonn Jinn.
I think Lucas was a bit hammered in by the constraints of the parameters set by the OT, so sometimes found himself tied up in knots over certain plotpoints(setting up 'new' storylines, but having to tie them up to the already established story), so a character like Dooku was used to service a way of progressing the story, rather than being well thought out or logical. Poor writing though, I agree.

I enjot ROTS too, it is a very good movie in terms of action, but it still lacks the emotional feeling I get from any of the OT. The acting is still very cardboard cut too, even in the scenes where i am supposed to be emotionally involved, although NP does a good job when she is pleading with anakin at the end.

and as for my SW watching...man, i need a break from these movies, i am going to take a couple of years off from watching them, it will be a very long time before I watch Empire strikes back again, i'll tell you that for nothing, lol, sick of watching it now.
i hear they are releasing them on a big blue ray gun, so maybe i will wait until i buy one of those things.

i am not bothered about watching those old cartoons either, but i can see why SW fans would seek them out, why not? it can be interesting to watch these types of things, even if they are not the best, pop culture and all that.
I don't even know if they are any good, I missed them back in the day, only caught a bit of one once on tv. But i was never really interested in them anyway, if they had done the continuing adventures of the main characters from the movies , i would have been into those toons. I guess Lucas may have still been thinking of doing more movies at that point, so did not want to make those types of toons.

Lucas specifically said he was at Celebration V, but who knows? George sometimes even gets the pronunciation of the characters' names wrong (either that or everyone else on earth is wrong). :yay:

Jimmy Mac (of ForceCast) said there's a big spoiler at the end of the third episode coming, and I've been doing my best to avoid it. I'm hoping it's not "Savage is Maul's biological brother" though, because, as I mentioned, Lucas already stated that.

I read both are but I'm always confused, most lists of games, from wikipedia and even the xbox site say you need to download a certain file from xbox live or have a hard drive or something,

...and in the xbox section of the hype I've asked that, and most say you don't need to download anything or need the extra hard drive to play...

I admit, ROTS is the better one of the PT and ESB is the better one of the OT. Its been ages since I saw TPM and AOTC because I don't have them on DVD anymore. Though, I do like ROTJ because of the Vader and Luke scenes when he brings his father back to the good side. As for Palpatine...gawd, I hate him. I hate him so much because of how he decieved everyone from the start. He deserved to be thrown down the death star's throat.

I wonder if we'll ever see any unused footage that never made it to the final cuts of AOTC and ROTS. Probably never but I heard that there was a lot of footage that was shot for both films.

The writing and animation are praiseworthy, but it could have made more sense if had come out after AOTC, not after ROTS. Lucas needs to keep tying the trilogies together or go back and explore the training of Anakin between the first two films. I think this was a quick way of selling toys because of the lack of character development that will take place in it.

In my opinion Lucas can't win. If he went back to show Anakin's youth and training people would have complained that that time in Anakin's life isn't as important as showing him and Obi-Wan bonding through the Clone Wars. If he shows the Clone Wars, people complain about the political side of it, even though it's only a miniscule portion of it. If he showed the suited Darth Vader hunting down Jedi after Revenge of the Sith, people would have still found something to complain about.

I think Anthony Daniels recorded some new lines. I always wished that each module took you to a different planet.

I was thinking about re-writing the Prequels, since they have so much potential. Anyone would be interested in reading them?

EW has learned that actor Liam Neeson will reprise his Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace role as doomed Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn on Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Jan. 28 and again on Feb. 11.

He’ll be voicing Qui-Gon, who appears to Obi-Wan Kenobi in visions, in a three-part arc about his former protégé Anakin Skywalker’s destiny as the Chosen One.

Neeson tells EW he wanted to return to Star Wars because he felt that “these characters resonate…even after all these years.” He adds, “Growing up, my heroes were cowboys; they were strong and mysterious, and it seemed like they always rode off into the sunset. For kids today, Star Wars has that same kind of magic. I really wanted to be a part of that.”

Now I gotta catch up on season 3.

I'd just like to see them told in flashback form, maybe Obi Wan in his house on tatooine remembering the "old times" or even if it was Vader thinking back to his days as Anakin.

That's pretty cool, I guess. Qui-Gon was arguably a completely superfluous character but with Neeson he was quite compelling and sadly pushed to the side after TPM.

That was the rumored date right before the announcement (that revealed the Sept. 27 release date) on January 6. I've already pre-ordered the complete saga from Amazon.co.uk. It's being released on Sept. 30 in the UK.

Maybe they didn't say Sept. 27 (on Jan. 6), but they definitely said the month. Anyway...I don't see how it matters.

would be cool if they did an episode where obi wan tells anakin a story about him and qui gon from years ago that somehow relates to a situation anakin and obiwan find themselves in, would be a nice way to see qui gon in action!

I would like to see that but I would want Obi Wan to tell it to a Jake Lloyd aged Anakin instead of the clone wars aged Anakin.

This puts an interesting spin on things. I wonder if Obi Wan will question this meeting until Yoda confirms in ROTS that he also communicates with Qui Gon. Either way it's great Neeson is doing the voice again.
