First Look at Loki and Odin

Walt Simonson would beg to differ. This is what Loki wore during his run:

And Simonson is considered arguably the greatest creator on Marvel's Thor ever.

I'm not saying Loki shouldn't have a horned helmet. We've heard that he does and I'm glad because it's the look I personally prefer for him. But I think you're blowing the importance of the specific look of the helmets way out of proportion. Hiddleston's performance, the quality of the script, and Branagh's directing will make or break Loki, not the headgear they put on him.

Simonson was the SECOND greatest Thor creator...and the head gear Loki wears above is based on a Kirby design, if I recall.

Let me warn those who have not seen Loki's movie helmet yet ~ due to reasons of balance, the horns go up and then back, rather than forward and then up.

as i said earlier thor has helmet hair so he must have a helmet, you can tell in his pics sometimes he has hair behind his ears which is what you do when you wear a hat or helmet. now we can see loki's and odin's helmets, nice. thanks for upload. also if you look to the right that is 2 of the warriors 3 fandral and hogun. just in case you cant read the caption at the bottom.

also i think loki's horns are like that because if he swings a sword or something he would hit his horns if they were pushed too far forward. im just glad he has his horns, nice. looking good so far. im still pumped for this film.

Wow the asgard throne room set looks epic, stunning, very theatrical and romantic, there's some oriental influence there as well. Odin even has his ravens. Now I can't wait to see a full body shot of thor with hammer and helmet on. Loki's helmet looks like it came out of the comic page and Odin is looking majestic.

Wow, great pic. I'm not a huge Thor fan -- have read one Straczyinski(?) tpb -- but I'm really impressed with the throne. It's a really cool angle, capturing how cool Asgard should look. And I'm kind of stunned to say that Loki's horns look badass.

jmc there's no room for your logic or intelligent discussion here. Obviously if Marvel chose to release three images of Thor without his helmet he doesn't wear one at any point in the movie. And his helmet is, like, the most important aspect of his character.

Thor's helmet is hardly the most important aspect of his character; Mjolnir is the most important aspect of Thor.

Wow, Loki's helmet looks fantastic. I was a little concerned over a comment made before about it looking like a bicycle helmet with horns, but that helmet looks perfect. I don't think fans could have hoped for more. When looking at Loki's costume design there are some differences from that of the comic, but looking at him with the helmet all you see is Loki. I realize that the helmet is not the most important aspect of Loki's character, but I can't say that I am not happy that he has a resemblence to his comic book counterpart. As for a few comments about Thor not having his helmet. Well it is pretty obvious he has taken off his helmet (which is probably in front of him) to kneel before his father in respect. If we have Loki with a helmet, and Odin with a helmet, it is pretty obvious they will not leave Thor without his helmet. Odin looks totally awesome as well. I like the fact that they gave him something other then pants also to seperate him a little more from the other gods. I also like the little touches they made to the throne room, very majestic and just overall bad@$$ (bad@$$). Is there any chance there might be a high def version of this picture out there. I would love to be able to look at all the little details that are in this photo up close. This is going to be so epic, it looks like Marvel is going to do it again. I can't wait for a trailer.

Based on the positioning of the characters and the suggestion that this is supposedly Thor's coronation, I'm gonna guess that the knees on either side belong to Sif on the left and Volstagg on the right. The Warriors Three on one side and the rest of Asgard's royal family (plus the heir's main squeeze) on the other.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where the doors might lead? I am thinking they might open up and there can be like a dimensional portal to earth, where Odin tosses Thor through, before Thor begins plummeting to earth. Other thoughts I had would be a door leading to Odin's personal chambers, or a door leading to the Bifrost / Bridge. Or maybe it opens up and acts more like a window overlooking earth. I don't know perhaps the doors are just there for show and nothing else, but it kind of makes me wonder if they have a purpose.

its not exactly the same but taking a look at the shot and compositon...the guardians and their helmets and the room was golden too...lets call it flair i guess......
...so similarities can be found, but not in terms of quality but it has something in common...
maybe the pic isnt the right one to show this but it was mentioned by other users and even by my brother who really gives a **** bout such movies ...they all said that it reminds them of the masters of the universe movie...

it also has somthing of chronicles of riddick IMO:-)

throne: two piles one bent the other straight but very noticeable and a door behind it...plus the colour sceme is a factor which i think is the most reason why comparing it all.

If you can find me an image of Green Lantern that looks even remotely close to the movie suit, I'll back off.Obviously, you're referring to the lack of textures. That's something a movie version of a suit like this needs in order to work on screen. Or else we'll be dealing with the Adam West Batman syndrome. The textures of the GL suit doesn't change the fact that it looks extremely close to the comic version.

But yellow tends to become mustardy or tan or brown if you try to darken it. At least in my experience.

Obviously, guardians of Asgard can wear yellow capes. But not Loki. Makes sense. Not.

Yes, I did. I guess they just decided to go with green for Loki for some reason. Maybe because they already knew they wanted to use gold for Loki's armor or because green is the direct opposite of red, making the contrast with Thor's red cape clearer. Doesn't bother me either way, I think Loki's costumes both look pretty sweet. :up:

I find that hard to swallow, the promo shot of all 3 had some lighting issues everything from the movie itself looks pretty fantastic.

Thors Armor looks regal


This movie is gonna be one big roller coaster ride, it won't be like any other comic book movie in that it spans Dimensions...

I love the way Asgaurdians look, kinda like a combo of LotR and Star Wars.... what more could you ask for...
