At least we won't have to worry about Thor saying "i'm a man!" throughout the movie though.:hehe:
That one quick scene of the frost giants was pretty cool. I think the smaller thing he punches might be a minion to the giants. That's just my guess.

The more I watch it, the more I see flaws in it, which I guess is normal. Asgard looks really small, very corridor like. I know people don't like the Flash Gordon reference, but how they stage it feels like an 80s sci-fi film. The world feels empty and stage-like. A lot of shiny and weightless bits. The scene with Thor and Sif fighting reminds me of a back alley from Batman '89. As if only those fighting exist.

Ya, I hope there's something they could do in post-production to fix some of that. Again, would've preferred some non "stage" locales for some of this.

Yeah me too, I hope he doesnt die. But it seems once Thor comes back to Asgard after defeating Loki's forces he'll rush to Odins bedside and he'll awaken.
I'm really impressed with Hopkins as Odin, he's fragile, cold, emotional, scary, tearful, sad, all in a few seconds in the trailer. what a coupe!!

I never really read Thor comics but I know more about the actual Norse mythology and I think Odinsleep is really just the time of winter where he eventually wakes up in the spring time so if Odinsleep isnt any different in the comics then he must be dying. Plus why would someone need to take his place if he was just sleeping?

so now we seen it lets speculate why. after a couple days of nothing nowhere why now. its obviously leaked by studio or else it would be on youtube instead of all these other sites. so i would think maybe the studio was reading some negative reviews and felt they need to stop it from spreading. so they figure the only ways it to show the GA the footage rather than let them read someone else's opinion on it. let them form their own opinion.

They don't look like the swashbucklers from the comics. For one thing they look rather young. Hogun especially is supposed to be the most badass warrior in the land. Hell the first sight of him, you melt. And here comes off like a young Jacky Chan. Completly out of character.
But I have faith in Stevensen. I think he can pull of the good heart jovial warrior.

the shield setup around mjolnir is strangely lacking a roof. obviously there will be a lightning bolt that comes down when thor is thor again. why did they build a testing facility without a roof. they are doing test on it, why would you just leave it out in the rain so to speak. when you run test you setup a controlled enviroment, not allow wind rain or anything to just fall on your experiment. also thor still has his strength or what.

Maybe Thanos is green in the movie.
But it seems like these beings advancing (probably Thor releasing them by mistake?) have the same hat/haircut as the green guy. They could be demons or beings from Hela's domain or dark elves. Although they don't look like Malekith. The dark creature could be Hela(Mistress of Hel).

I'm not a die-hard Thor fan, so I say this as an outsider;
That trailer looks absolutely, epically, mind-blowingly... awful. I cannot believe how bad that looks considering I was excited about the film beforehand.
Now, before you jump in. I'm not saying this just to trash or to troll or to be contrarian or whatever people call it when someone says something negative, I'm saying this because I watched the trailer with 5 other people who were not die-hard Thor fans, but who love comic book movies, and they all thought the movie looked appalling. Like, really really bad.
This is why I'm saying all this:
Does anyone else think that this film will have zero appeal to a movie-going audience outside of its fanbase?
Because, as a MASSIVE fan of comic books and comic book movies (I'm posting on this forum.... go figure), but not a Thor fan, having seen that trailer, I can now say that I have zero interest in that movie AT ALL. It looks like Fantastic Four 2.

It looks like Fantastic Four 2.
actually the general audience will watch anything. also this is not the trailer, just footage for comic con. im assuming the actual trailer will have thor and lightning bolts and magic and such. so this footage was for the comicbook fans who wanted to see footage and get an idea of how thor is going. the finished product will be much more polished and has a long time till release,so i wouldnt worry just yet. wait till an actual trailer.

If that's Feore, he could be Ymir, in which case It looks like they mixed the comic version of ymir with the movie alien of the same name:

I say wait awhile longer. There are several people who went the opposite direction, from not liking what they saw in the pics and loving the Trailer.
To ME being an artist, I love it. I love how they've combined the different Thor's and related Marvel Myth that goes with him. I understand what you're saying protoctista. Still tho it is hard to please everyone all the time lol. Wanting to like it is something I can't MAKE you do. I hope you stick around and see it anyway.

like the above person mentioned. this is just a thrown together for comic-con. it's not the official trailer. most of the film is still in post production for the effects. wait until christmas for the real trailer.
good movies have appeal. look at avatar. people were saying way before it was released that it would be a letdown and not make back it's budget. look how that turned out. a lot of people know of thor....maybe not marvel's version but whats been passed down from legend. i would worry more about the green lantern film. blade is more well known to the general movie going audience then him and blade is only a third tier character in the marvel universe while GL is a top dog at DC. thor will be fine. a healthy domestic gross for it would be around $280-$300m....and it will make that.

Very interesting trailer. As always, I'll wait until the finished film but one thing that did catch my eye is Rene Russo. Either I missed this announcement or I just forgot. Either way, it's wonderful to see her in a film again. And she looks gorgeous.
There's some gravitas to this trailer but the look of the costumes look completely 80's fantasy style.
And as always, it's always great to have a little Portman in your film.

I'm not a big THOR fan either. I've only just started the 2007 arc. My excitement for the project was based solely on Kenneth Branagh's involvement and the really brilliant casting decisions Marvel made.
Also, Chris Hemsworth is attractive, so that was a plus.
I just watched the trailer and the freakin' thing looked awesome! I mean... mind-blowing awesome. There was something retro-looking about the sets and the way the costumes looked, but somehow, it works for me here. I didn't ever get pulled out of the action or the footage itself. I didn't think it was cheesy looking. But I did think it worked perfectly with the whole look and approach Marvel was going for.

To each their own, but I have no idea how anyone can say the movie looks bad from that trailer. Of course a lot of FX are unfinished and stuff, but the story looks incredible, and Iīm by no means a big Thor fanboy. The banishment of a fallen God who has brought war and destruction to his kingdom. forsaken by his father, betrayed by his brother, thrown down to learn humility and prove his worth, the commanding, majestic voice and presence of Anthony Hopkins, the badass Chris Hemsworth, the wonders of Asgard... Seriously I dunno whatīs the deal with some people.

The best thing about the leak is that once is on the net its gone forever, you never get it back. Its like a hydra, cut off one head, two grow in its place. So what Marvel have to do is either release it in glorious quicktime HD sooner than planned or release something that will make the internet forget the trailer until the official one is released.

Agreed, the scream was a little silly, especially with the funky voice filter they put on it. Also not a fan of the lion's roar they play while Thor is shoving nurses and doctors away in the hospital.
But I liked the "this is Earth!" line. He's immediately disgusted as soon as he realizes it, which is exactly how a fallen god would regard being stuck on Earth.

After seeing the trailer a few times, my only grip is it feels at times like itīs trying too hard to be "fancy", like, overusing "cool" angles, camera pans and slow-mo, which is not an uncommon aspect of Brnaghīs filmmaking. Of course it could be just the fact that these are intentionally selected crucial moments of the storyline and the overall movie may be not as "in your face".

trailer is decent. of course a lot of effects are still missing that will be finished end of this yer for the official trailer.
about the final fight. i wonde something. will it be inside or outside? because a fight between loki and thor inside could be a problem. i mean not for Marvel. they are cheap. but outside it would be bigger and more epic. if its inside its because marvel doesnt want to spend money.

The movie has a pretty respectable budget. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 certainly didn't look cheap to me, and they're pushing Thor just as hard as they did those movies, so I'm sure they spent a decent amount. If the final fight is inside, I imagine it'll be in the throne room, which is appropriate.
I also have no problem with Coulson being a part of this movie. Marvel Studios' movies are connected, just like the comics share a universe and characters. Get over it.

I have no problem with Coulson and SHIELD. By circumstances and how Marvel is set up cinematically, it makes sense SHIELD would be on this stuff. Doesn't feel forced at all. They're doing a good job at that. And **** what people say about Fury appearing in IM2. I mean at first people were excited to see him there, now they complain about him being there. He had only three scenes, and they all made sense. Tony was still apart of it.

Well, Hopkins being in The Wolfman didn't exactly raise its profile. It was underwhelming, to say the least.
I'm a bit mixed on this trailer. It looks like it's trying to have its cake and eat it too, and there seems to be a lot of story crammed in. But this CC footage looks far more promising than the one we saw for Iron Man 2.

I thought it was quite a good trailer. Also, it's technically not a trailer at all, it was a 5-minute sneak peek for Comic-Con attendees. They'll probably cut it up and edit together a few parts plus some new material for the actual trailers going out to the general public.
People complain about Fury in Iron Man 2? I didn't even know. I was rather satisfied with his inclusion. The first movie had Fury's earliest overtures to Tony, simply asking him to join SHIELD. Tony refuses, so in the second movie he steps up his game and actually helps Tony with a problem he knows he's having, providing the incentive for Tony to join. It made sense to me.

Just saw the footage, though I need to see it again on a bigger screen since I watched in on my phone. I really do think this movie is going to be awesome. Hopkins is owning the role of Odin, Hemsworth looks fierce as Thor, and Hiddleston is looking very sneaky and diabolical. The footage looks like the tone is going to fit in very well with the already established IM an TIH movies. The Destroyer looks freakin badass, I just can't wait to see some flight and some lightning strikes.

Just saw the trailer. I liked it. The warriors three all walking side by side in slow motion with their cloaks billowing in wind looks incredibly stupid, as do Heimdal's RIDICULOUS cateye contact lenses or whatever. I'm pumped for the movie, don't get me wrong, but Heimdall looks completely queer with those lenses. Maybe it will work on screen. We'll see.

Hopkins could have been in The Love Guru and it wouldn't have hurt his profile, it's not like he's some kind of up-and-comer. He's pretty much done building an image/rep/profile.

Yup, everyone was excited that they were linking up the characters just like in the comics and loved that scene at the end of the first Iron Man then when it came down to it, they started *****ing. As you said, his scenes were minimal and they made sense with the story.

What makes you think that??
Odin banishes Thor to Earth, he tries to redeem himself and get back his power while Loki takes over Asgard. Someone(most likely Loki)sends out the Destroyer armor to cause havok and Thor must stop both the Destroyer and Loki. They have some SHIELD stuff thrown in as well but I don't think it will be too much.

They did look a bit Armageddon-ish. I liked the shot where Sif turns and smiles one of the most mischievous smiles I've ever seen, though. Then again, I could watch Jaimie Alexander do virtually anything and enjoy it. ;)

I'm afraid Thor will spend too much time out of costume. Seriously, I thought a lot of the trailer looked awesome, but I don't want to watch a movie about The Mortal Thor, he should be the Mighty Thor. It seems like their adapting the original Stan Lee story about Thor learning humility, and combining it with the Ultimates 2 arc where he is captured by SHIELD and suspected of treason. While I like both stories, Ultimates managed to use it as a substory within an action packed storyline. I don't want to spend 1 whole hour watching Thor run around like Peter Parker did in SM2.

I enjoyed the Thor trailer, but I actually think that the trailer for The Walking Dead the day before trumped it and (no pun intended) stole it's thunder a bit, for me at least. But the Thor footage kicked the ass of the Green Lantern footage.

I'm appreciating them separately. I agree, The Walking Dead looks better overall than Thor to me, but they're two very different animals and I'm predisposed to liking the character-driven, long-term stuff like TWD more than an action movie in the first place. Still, for what it is, the Thor footage looked fantastic to me.

Itīs clearly back and forth, but the stuff on Earth is what will make Thor a more relatable character, a powerful being that has to learn about vulnerability and humiility to prove heīs worthy of his power

Not a movie, a TV series. On AMC. With Frank Darabont heading it up. And the premise is basically "what happens to these people after your typical zombie movie?"

What shape was the Shield Base in?
The Ultimate Nullifier. A device Uatu gave Reed Richards to call Galactus' bluff. It destroys both the user and the target. I've since taken a screencap of the base, and if it's coincidental it's a pretty spectacular one.
It would be fun to see Uatu in Thor's sequels. Kirby and Lee did a ton of cosmic stuff with Thor.

The faciltiy is also missing a roof. Obviously it's so When Thor picks up mjolnir the lightning will strike down. But if your shield and running test on something why wouldn't it be in a controlled enviroment. They just leave it out in the open. Just something I found funny. Also just wait till they add the effects for mjolnir or Thor flying or you see magic then you will change your mind. Still have a ways to go till a real trailer is cut.
TheCorpulent1

I think they would have tried a crane or a forklift or something before settin up shop. Like in iron man 2 they found it and probably tried everthing to get it back to shield but couldn't lift it. So then they set up shop to run test. they put a couple levels but no roof, lol
Just wait till they add the effect for mjolnir or there is magic or Thor flying. The movie comes out next year. Trailer was just comic con footage to show the characters and locations. Also to give an idea of what they are doing with Thor.

Eh, that's okay, as I don't think I've ever agreed with a single opinion you've expressed on the boards. It's got to the point where you hating the look of something is almost the final seal of approval that confirms it'll be worth watching. :oldrazz:
But yeah, as Corp says, it might seem like a generic zombie tale at first, but it really becomes very much it's own beast as it progresses, and the TV medium is the perfect format to adapt that kind of story. And AMC is where it's at in TV Land these days.

I've watched it probably 15 times since last night. I'm still excited for it, but my criticisms/concerns for some areas have grown a little bit.
Here's what I really liked:
1. Thors physique
2. The Warriors Three
3. Odin and his speech
4. Coulson's quip about Stark
5. Loki (still think he's going to steal the show)
6. The Destroyer
7. Heimdall
Here's what I'm not liking at the moment:
1. Natalie Portman .... she's extremely one note
2. Asgard .... too much reliance on sets, some looked like a P-Diddy video
3. Scene with Thor, Loki, Sif, Warriors Three all walking .... cheesy Reservoir Dogs knock off
4. Frost Giants .... not what I expected at all, come off looking a little cheap too
5. New Mexico location for the Earth portion of the film
6. Kat Dennings ..... playing her typical quipping self and it's annoying
Again it's early ..... we're still about 10 months away from the film's release with a lot of post-production work to be done. I am very interested to see how the fight/action scenes turn out as that is not exactly Branaugh's specialty. We're also going to need to see far more lightening and magic effects.

I thought Asgard looked phenomenal. Those shots with the camera panning around, showing us Asgard in all its splendor, were really well done. I liked little touches like the two moons in one scene. Definitely tells us that this is an otherworldly place.
