It was a shame when Danish director Asger Leth‘s first studio feature fell apart (http://thefilmstage.com/2010/04/07/universal-pulls-the-plug-on-josh-brolins-cartel/) just five weeks before production this year. Cartel was an action thriller starring Josh Brolin that was set amongst the drug wars of Mexico. 24 Frames (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/07/asger-leth-sam-worthington-man-on-a-ledge.html) is now reporting the Ghosts of Cite Soleil director has a new feature set up.'
He will direct Sam Worthington in the thriller Man on the Ledge for Summit and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The action thriller surrounds a female psychologist and a suicidal New York City cop.
Not many more details are known, but a TV movie of the same name was a remake of the 1951 film Fourteen Hours, which was one-location shoot just about a man about to jump off a ledge. It sounds like this could follow the same style. We will keep you updated.
Summit is planning to shoot “as early as this winter.”
Sounds a bit like Phone Booth in structure, should be a decent chance for Worthington to show he has more range than we have seen so far.

How is Worthington filming all of these movies at the same time. I swear, every time I hop onto this site, that dude has signed onto another project.

Well lets hope he drops out of this one. It requires the ability to act.

I'm sure that film with Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson required it too, but unfortunately he didn't drop out of that one. :(

Anthony Mackie is in talks to join Man on a Ledge, the cop thriller that already has Sam Worthington on board. The story kicks off with “a female psychologist and a former NYPD officer who threatens to jump to his death,” which sounds pretty eh. But the potential suicide is a smokescreen to obscure a massive diamond heist.

I was really surprised by the trailer, it looks like a great thriller with plenty going on, some visual flair and a really cool heist. Seems like a good choice from Worthington.
Genesis Rodrigues .. please explain ''pink'' scene.
She's hot and has an awesome name, this is all you need to know. ;)

I wish the trailer would've been more mysterious but like many others it just gives away too much.

The trailer hardly gives anything away.
- Coming from a guy who read the script.

The movie looks good except for two things.
Worthington (Damn it man, if you're going to constantly be playing an American, learn how to do a goddamned accent!)
Worthington's hair. Seriously, WTF is going on with that David Hasselhoff Knight Rider birdsnest thing he's got going on there?

It's cool. Got a future. Lots of script coverage and analysis... But, trust me - the whole film takes place with him up on the ledge. The trailer is about half the script. There's a lot of twists that come up in the end. It's a constant roller coaster ride. You won't be disappointed, don't worry - it wasn't ruined by trailer. It's safe.

Saw this today and really enjoyed it, it's a tightly put together thriller with Good performances from the ensemble. I know many don't like Sam Worthington but I thought this blue collar cop role suited him and he was solid in the lead.
The film is divided into two sections, one sees Worthington's man on the ledge trying to persuade Elizabeth Banks, who delivers as a burnt out negotiator, of his innocence after initially stalling her and selecting her to draw the biggest audience possible due to her recently losing a cop jumper.
The other part is a heist movie with Jamie Bell as his brother, breaking into a secure vault, to find the item that proves his brothers innocence, with the help of his ridiculously hot girlfriend Genesis Rodriguez. The two have some amusing sparring banter and things don't go smoothly as neither are professionals.
The cast is rounded out with solid character actors who each bring a little something to their roles, as well as Ed Harris as a sneering, scenery chewing villain.
All in all a really good thriller that hasn't got a lot of action but the bit there is, is well shot and pretty exhilarating.
8/10

Good review Hunter, I'm hoping to catch it this week.
The first two acts were so promising but the ending fell flat. And what a waste of villain with Ed Harris
