I'm sticking a fork in Dallas, and refuse to pick them again until MAYBE the Washington game late in the season. Green Bay, The Giants, Eagles, Saints, AND Colts still on their schedule?
I should have gone with my gut in San Francisco having the extra time to practice in London.
Oh Jets, oh Jets, how could you let all your points be eaten by Rex?
I went against SF because I thought David Carr was going to be their QB :whatever:

5 Points this week. Hopefully the Colts can give me 6 tonight.
Even if I can't win this, I'm hoping to keep my top 10 streak going.

Anyone else get the feeling Oakland could potentially go into Pittsburgh and take down the Steelers?
Well, it's a good thing I don't listen to a good majority of my wonderous thoughts.
I've got 10 so far, with the Vickles taking care of the G-Men for a potential 11 point day.
I could have had 13 right now if the Tit-ans could have gotten it in gear and actually scored in OT, and if the Browns could actually tackle at the end of a ball game, and if the Bengals didn't stop mauling the Bills to choke on a veiny, triumphant Buffalo ****...Let that image sink in and try to sleep tonight.
Ive got 11 as well, I think a lot of us will easily get 10 plus points this week...

In light of the holiday weekend, I've chosen to praise the three teams that played on Thanksgiving and gave me a perfect score for Thursday.
I'm thankful for Roy Williams. Without Roy's overconfidence in thinking he's a #1 receiver, he may have actually scored held onto that football and completed the Cowboys' victory.
I'm thankful for Tom Brady. Once he finally dramatically flicked his perfectly layered locks out of his eyes at halftime, he saw that he was playing the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving and threw 4 touchdowns.
Finally, I'm thankful for the Cincinnatti Bengals offering themselves up like a sacrificial turkey to the New York Jets in what was the easiest pick for me to make.
With that out of the way, back to the damnings!
Damn ME for betting against Atlanta at home, even against the Packers. (Sorry, Commish 'Fire).
Damn the Jaguars for...Wait, why should I care about the Jags? Even their fans don't. NEXT!
Damn the Raiders for having what looks like a Lohan-sized relapse.
Damn Peyton Manning. I don't like your commercials. I don't like that you're the QB AND head coach of the team. I don't like that you look and sound like you should be operating the drive-thru of a Mickey D's, and yet you have enough money to buy one, and I especially don't like that you through NOT ONE, but TWO pick 6's to the Chargers...............[/rant]

In the pick 'em league meetings this week, in which we really do nothing, the conversation led to tonight's NFL game, or the Heat/Cavaliers. Wondering which one my ever faithful deputy commissioner would be checking out, I pondered the following interview...
Tonight you my friend, have the opportunity to watch either the Heat/Cavaliers, or the Texans/Eagles. What have you thought about this process?Well, you know, it's all about entertainment value, and more specifically, what's best for Mister J.
How many people know your decision right now?Not a damn one. You know how unnecessarily secretive I can be.
One hand or two hands?I drive with one hand because I let to have one arm kinda leaning out of the window or have a free hand to enjoy my burger or to randomly flip off other drivers as a violate innumerable traffic laws. To hell with 10 to 2 formation.
When did you decide? Originally, I believe I decided when the NBA schedule was released, but my psychosis weighs on me at times. I can't be really sure of most things unless I write them down. Even then, sometimes I wonder who the hell has been in my apartment or office and left this note. I can't be fully certain I won't respond to this PM again later today. However, in the name of brevity, let's say I decided when the schedule was released. Does that work?
So does the team that you're going to watch tonight, that you'll announce in a few minutes, do they know your decision? It's possible. I called into the Texans' office earlier this week to pass along my congratulations to Andre Johnson (from The U ) on whipping Cortland Finnegan's ass, but the ****ers wouldn't patch me through to his cell. I cursed a couple of people out, then we had some good times laughing at how big of a baby Vince Young is. I'm near certain that somewhere during my profane tirade, I mentioned what I'd be watching Thursday night. Either that specifically or it was a crass remark about the mother of whoever I was talking to and what she'd likely be doing Thursday night. I can't really recall right now. I also called the Heat offices earlier this week to ask if they knew where I could get a good deal on a Kevlar vest. They spare no expense in the Heat front office and I'm sure they'll be prepared in full for all levels of vitriol and aggressive acts from angry Clevelanders. It's possible I could have made another slip of my viewing intentions during my attempts to sweet-talk Rebecca, the receptionist.
Who in this process, have you taken advice from and who has had the biggest influence? As if I would ever take advice from anyone or otherwise be influenced. There's been a lot of speculation here and a but, and the end of the day, Mister J has to do what's best for Mister J and there's no one better qualify to act on behalf of Mister than Mister J. Mister J says so.
What was the major factor, the major reason in your decision? Gee, I didn't write this down, but I'm of the mind currently that it had something to do with Mister J doing what's best for Mister J. Mister J is good about making that a recurring theme in Mister J's decisions.
Do you have any doubts about your decision? As if. :funny:
I'm beyond reproach.
Alright...Mister J, the Hype world wants to know. Texans and Eagles, or LeBron's return to Cleveland: J...what's your decision? This evening... and, man, this is very tough, I'm going to take my sitting talents to my couch and my viewing talents to in front of my TV (likely with some food, where the aforementioned talents will be joined by my eating talents) and watch the team that people continually cite as playing in South Beach (even though the bloody arena is no where near South Beach) and watch the Miami Heat. That's the conclusion I woke up with this morning. I feel like this gives me the best opportunity to win (the Daily Random Sports Fan Viewing Contest) and win multiple times tonight... if they change it from a daily contest to an hourly one. And not only just to win on Thursday, but to win on any night of the week and I think I can compete down there, err out on my couch.
How do you explain this to the people in Cleveland? Well, basically, **** 'em. I hope the Heat beats the Cavs' asses and I hope the Dolphins beat the Browns on Sunday. Jersey-burning, sports-inflicted misery-wallowing loons. Of course, that's just for the hucksters that take this stuff too seriously. I wouldn't be opposed to randomly running into a few rational Cleveland fans and talking shop over some glorious hot wings from Hooters, where we could all discuss a true universal sports villain... that no good ass Brittney Favre.
By the way, check with me later. I'm likely to have video of an overly elaborate celebration in my apartment where I preen around and talk about winning the Daily Random Sports Fan Viewing Contest... not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, times.
--------
We thank Mister J for his participation in this interview. His deputy commissioner contract has been extended for another 10 eons.

Sorry for the delay. I spent all day Tuesday checking to see if the Pats had scored on the Jets again...
Damn, well, I think Mister J covered everything I would damn about the Dolphins this week in the NFL thread...
Watching the Dolphins/Browns game so far is like punishment for one of the myriad of malevolent things I've done that haven't yet come to light.
There aren't many offensive coordinators that would call for play action on 3rd and 17. Ladies and Gentlemen, Dan Henning!
I can't begin to curse enough.
Damn San Diego forgetting to put the cheat code in for God Mode like they seem to do every December the past few years.
Damn the refs for not showing enough bias against the Steelers. If you're gonna target Pittsburgh with bad calls, at least make it so the Ravens can win, damnit!
Finally cracked the top 5!!!
Hush and I both got 14 points, how did I win this week? Got the tiebreaker right?
I think as a group these last 3 weeks we've had more double digit wins than the first 9.

Damn Jake Delhomme. Your impotence as a football player spread like a skin fungus to the rest of the team, keeping the offense from even making it past MIDFIELD in the second half. Why couldn't you stay in Carolina, where they're still spraying themselves with Tinactin to try and get rid of your stench?
Damn Green Bay. You've gone Chris Brown on Detroit for years, and now you decide to roll over for a "vicious mauling" from the fanged kittens?
Damn the Jets offense for tripping over their own feet. AHA YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!
Damn the Broncos for bucking the trend of interim coaches winning their debut game this season. AHA I DID IT AGAIN!:dry::dry:
Damn the Baltimore Ravens. Yeah, I know they won, but damn them for making me sweat for that final point and a 12 point week. 28-7

Damn Kansas City for their QB juke move and putting Matt Cassel back in the game like the injured QB who runs onto the field at the last minute to lead his, scrappy, no-shot-of-winning team to a dramatic and tear-provoking victory in what has to be the upset of the century ...Wait, this was against the Rams in Week 15? Nevermind...
Damnit Miami, you do remember it's called HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE for a reason, right?!

Without further ado...Go Web Go, I hereby crown your ass with the Dennis Green Trophy. You played more than 3 quarters, and didn't take any of the games like they were bulls***. You came to play and win, and that's why you took the damn field. You truly are who we thought you were.
Congrats!

2010 SHH Pro Football Pick 'Em Champion
Wow. This is a beautiful piece of hardware. I just, uh, I just want to thank all the people out there who made this possible - particularly the 22 other participants for not being as accurate in their picks during the home stretch as I was. As most of you know, I am a sad Dolphin fan, but it is in good part to their December swoon at home against the Browns, Bills, and Lions that I was able to pad my lead and come out with this prestigious award. It just goes to show you that even when rooting for a loser, you can be a winner. Thank you.
And one more thing, I know there's a special place in all of your hearts, as I know there is in mine, for a special little guy we have come to know and begrudgingly love. With that being said, I'd like to dedicate this award to Silver Knight. This one's for you, buddy! See you all again in September!

I know the real life thing happens, that's really the only clause that allows one to stay in the game after missing picks. lol
Our rookie of the year is... KBX!

Yeah you! :yay:
Yes sir, you win Rookie of The Year. Literally.

I present you with this mint condition VHS starring Gary Busey.
What a great day! First and foremost I would to congradulate GWG on winning the 2010 Picke'm league, it was well deserved and won it by a good margin. I would also like to thank the committee who voted me "rookie of the year." Day in and day out, for atleast 4 minutes a week I would make sure I got my picks in! But a special thanks goes to ImmortalFire! Whether he voted for me or not, I would personally like to say how well of a commish he was throughout the year. He made it all possible and without him, I wouldn't be standing up here today, accepting this award by putting my name next to Michael Jordan, Albert Pujols, Barry Sanders, and Bobby Orr, just to name a few fellow rookies of the year...
For those of you who think I don't deserve this award... well you can Hush. :cwink:
See you next year, everybody!!!

So for you Hulkster, you get.....a Wearable Towel.

The commissioner's award for coolness goes to....El_Citrus! The weekly damns all year always gave me a laugh :funny:
I present the best cool prize..a pair of Silhouette TMA 8658. David Caruso glasses, if you will.
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2192/silhouette85681093.jpg
I am nearly at a loss for words. I say nearly because, hey, I wouldn't be winning an award for coolness if I could be rendered speechless. What else could a man ask for than a pair of Silhouette TMA 8658's? I shall proudly add it to my collection of pastel shirts with white suits, Members Only Jackets, Ugg Boots, and Hipster Skinny Jeans.
To win the Comissioner's Award for Coolness is an honor that I hold just as highly as actually winning the entire competition. Hell, Paul the Octopus would've made kalamari out of just about everyone in the league this year. I know that some will say that I am merely the Commissioner's Jester, to dance and damn as he sees fit, and to those I would say "**** YOU ************* ********** SONS OF *********** *********** ******* and have a nice day." I take my Damns seriously, and everyone and everything that I Damned, including myself, deserved their Damn fate of being shamed by my Damning.
Now, with that said, I could not accept those Silhouette TMA 8658's if I did not finish with my Week 17 Damns. And on that note:
Damn Joe Webb for looking like a rookie out there against the Lions of all people...Wait, Webb actually IS a rookie and the Lions had won three straight coming into the game? Umm...Damnit Favre, you couldn't stop sending text messages long enough to give Webb some pointers out there?
Damn Kansas City for allowing Matt Cassel to get sacked more times than Brett Favre's cell phone.
Damn Tampa Bay for thinking they actually had something to play for with their outside shot at the playoffs. The last time you were relevant, your star players had yet to hit puberty.
Damn Philly. First, you get your game moved because of a "Blizzard" and still lose to the Vikings, and then you have to go and rest your star players against a division rival because you're "In the playoffs already". You could have put your stsrters out there for one play against Dallas to take the lead in win. That's all it takes against their defense these days. To top it off, it you'd actually manned up and won this game despite your whole "Looking at the big picture" motto, you would have broken the three way tie I'm in and put me in the top 10! :cmad: ...**** you, Vick.
Damn San Fr....Damn Ari.......**** it. Actually, damn both of you for being two ****** teams and forcing me to behead a chicken and see which team's logo its dismembered body ran, fell, and bled onto first to make my choice. Damn that beheaded chicken, too.
And with that, it seems...Nah, I'm too cool for a Horatio joke. :word:

On behalf of myself, deputy J and our mysterious board of directors..I'd like to thank you all for taking part in the 2010 NFL pick 'em. Well, at least the 23 of you who stuck with it. :word:
This was year 4, and it was another successful one that included good performances by many, and a lot of fine money collected to support my Mister J's Chick-fil-A dependency.
Now we begin the long boring off season process of doing a lot of boring crap. This includes offering our thoughts and views to The Hammer on how to avoid a lockout. Because it would hurt the pick 'em league, and that's the important thing. Plus, I'll have to search for a new secretary...the board declared Debralee is too hot. :csad:
There have also been reports by Chris Mortensen that this is likely my last season as Pick 'em commissioner..and that I'm taking a more active role in Goodell's office. Well just let me say that Mort and his sources are full of it. I am the Pick 'em commissioner, I will be the Pick 'em commissioner..I have no interest in talking to anyone else. I'm very pleased to be in charge of this damn strong league.
I know J is more than able to handle the duties should the need arise, but for now he won't have to.
In conclusion, I once again thank you for your patronage. We'll do it again next time. :woot:

There's also no truth to the rumor that next year's contest will require an entry fee. No-sir-ree.
That money is more of a good faith deposit and it will in no way be embezzled to sate the aforementioned Chick-Fil-A dependency. Not at all. Seriously.

The good Commissioner is on vacation and may only make sporadic appearances (if any) in the interim. However, as Deputy Commissioner of this outfit, I am wholly of the mind that the Pick' Em goodness will commence...(wait for it)... before the season.
A new thread will be made (likely in purple font if I do it), PMs will be sent as reminders (to those of you we like) and people can begin lining up to receive their thrashings (which I will be handily delivering).
Be on the lookout next month, Sports Fans!
