You guys/girls are super talented. I do, however, have to say that I think the "no request" mindset is saddening, especially seeing Mods and long time Hypsters embrace it. This thread would be the perfect place to introduce ourselves to some posters that might not be "popular", but are really special in their own way. Maybe they post at different times or threads and we do not see how great they are. Instead they are told to not even think about being included in this fun and public thread.

What's the harm to having someone request it? It only takes a few minutes to look at their past posts. It wouldn't take that much time. If they have not been here long enough, PM them and tell them they need to post more so you can get a better idea of their style. At least do as Orb has and allow PM requests. It will make the community a little better in the end. Just my thoughts on it.

That's how I know their personalities enough to make up a "likeness" for them. If I'm going to start taking requests, I suddenly have to DO WORK to search out posts by users and familiarize myself with them, and FORCE a drawing out. That's not very fun, and I'm not getting paid for this so "fun" is definitely mandatory for me. Plus, you start doing requests then all of a sudden you have a million. Just look at other request thread like the 15 Minutes thread.

Well the ":(" smiley was supposed to show that what I said was done jokingly :) But that's that internet thing - can't always sense tone on teh interwebz.

But there is truth to it. I've been around here since like 04 or 05, and I've never really stood out around this place except to get mocked in the relationship advice thread. I've never really been able to participate in a lot of the fun activities around here (like the 15 minutes) cuz nobody seems to really know me I guess.

As far as cheering up goes, I'm cheered :) It's just the internet. I don't get upset about the internet (I used to on some of the earlier forums I took part in when I was like in high school)

I would just ask that you try it once. Maybe putting some time into someone you don't know will be "fun" in the long run. Making new friends isn't always easy sometimes work is involved.

Exactly my point. Some posters on here may not have the gift of socializing that you and others have. That does not make them dull or a poor posters, it just means they might need an extra push like this thread maybe. I think it would do more good then harm.

Good for you on the request front. I'm sure it is very easy to draw someone you know on a regular basis, all the more reason to meet new posters and learn things about them and how they post.

Last thing I will say about it. I see threads like this as way of building a stronger community and shining a light on posters that are great, but not exactly "popular". I think we should jump on these opportunities when they presented. If you don't want to clog the thread with requests, step up and accept PM requests for a short time and see if it's for you. You can at least say you tried.
