@NatalieAbrams Erica and Tom both said great things about the Lois & Clark development, Erica gushed about how she cried tears of joy hearing about Hatcher

Erica Durance burst into tears during what was supposed to be a very comedic scene when she got the news that Teri Hatcher would play her mother.

- Lindsay Hartley's character will be the clawed "Mad Harriet." Her episode also will involves Granny Goodness and is said to feature a fight with Tess Mercer.

Hopefully no one will kill me for tweeting this... since it was "off the record" and of course could change for story purposes... but...

I heard up here in Vancouver that it is Lois Lane's mom and Chloe's mom who are sisters. That is how they are cousins! #Smallville

So in other words, Wonder Woman is not Ham Tyler's sister. Or, Moira Sullivan and Sam Lane are not blood-related.

It DOES mean, though, that Lynda Carter and Teri Hatcher play sisters in #Smallville's world, which is all kinds of awesome.

Message from Teri Hatcher on Facebook

Teri Hatcher Thank you to all the Lois and Clark fans who support my Cameo on Smallville (a six year old Lois Lane's mom). It's in honor of that undying support and well, just a little homage to what was and is an important part of my career and life. To that end, here's some old clippings my mom has kept around her house. Thought you might enjoy.

While I'm sworn to secrecy, I can tell you that it was a blast from the past and it was with love in my heart that I tried to deliver something that served the part, honored the show in it's 10th season, and gave a tip of the hat to all the deserved fans who've supported me all these years. There was a recent tweet from somebody involved in the show saying they were shooting in LA. It's most likely this scene, which means chances are there won't be any interactions between Hatcher and anyone else. Though it's still great to at least have her make an appearance.

I think its awesome they have Terri Hatcher playing Mama lane, but it sucks that they already showed a picture of her in the past and she was blonde...kinda like the switch-a-roo for Chloe's mom going from blonde to brunette as well.

http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/1711/lanefamily.jpg (http://img840.imageshack.us/i/lanefamily.jpg/)

Not too big a deal since it was just a quick shot of a photo...just one of those annoying continuity things.

I have to say though the casting for both mommies is awesome. Would loved to have seen Terri and Lynda have a scene together in a flashback.

“SMALLVILLE” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“Abandoned” (CONTENT RATING TBD) (HDTV)

TERI HATCHER GUEST STARS AS ELLA LANE; DC COMICS’ CHARACTERS GRANNY GOODNESS (CHRISTINE WILLES) AND HARRIET (GUEST STAR LINDSAY HARTLEY) APPEAR — Lois (Erica Durance) finds a video made for her by her mother, Ella Lane (Hatcher), before she died. After watching the tape, Lois makes a drastic decision about her relationship with Clark (Tom Welling) that takes her to the Fortress, where she comes face to face with Jor-El and Lara... Meanwhile , Tess has a nightmare involving herself as a child and a music box. Upon awakening, she finds the music box in Luthor mansion and sets out to find out who planted it there. Clark accompanies her to an orphanage run by Granny Goodness (guest star Christine Willes) who may not have the young girls’ best intentions in mind. One of the young women living there, Harriet (guest star Hartley), finds Clark snooping around and decides to take matters into her own very sharp hands. I am so pleasantly perplexed by the Jor-El and Lara spoiler. Would they not announce Sands and Slater re-guesting on the show out of respect for Hatcher's noteworthy cameo, as well as the other guest stars? In what other way could Lois come face-to-face with Clark's biological parents, I wonder, if not with the actors who have previously embodied them on the show?

Also, I just realized how cute Lois' mother's name is.... Ella Lane. Ella like "El," as in "L." ... L. Lane. Har har har, oh, the alliteration.

Yeah, also I was watching the commentary on Crusade the other day and Al/Miles said the scene with Annette and Margot Kidder was shot when they were doing Transference, which was like 6 episodes later. So it wouldn't be the first time they've filmed something later. According to wikipedia:

Lois is the daughter of Ellen (alternately Ella) and Sam Lane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Lane).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lois_Lane#cite_note-2) In the earlier comics, her parents were farmers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farmer) in a town called Pittsdale; the modern comics, however, depict Sam as a retired soldier, and Lois as a former "army brat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_brat_%28U.S._subculture%29)", born at Ramstein Air Base (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramstein_Air_Base) with Lois having been trained by her father in areas such as hand-to-hand combat and the use of firearms. Lois also has one younger sibling, her sister Lucy Lane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_Lane).[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lois_Lane#cite_note-3)Interestingly enough, Noel Neill played Lois' mother in Superman: The Movie. It was a deleted scene though where they called the girl Lois, but it was from the train scene when young Clark in running back home.

Definitely possible. Superman is something that will be around for a long, long time.

Perhaps in a decade or two we will get a new Superman show called Spaceship, where we find out what happened in that damn spaceship when Clark was coming to Earth. :oldrazz:

I'll tell ya what happened! Secrets! Secrets and lies!

:p

Y'know what I think could (potentially) be awesome? A show about the Last Days of Krypton (not necessarily adapted from the novel of the same name, but following the same idea). Maybe a miniseries instead of a show... Nothing that movie audiences would find interesting, but could be a snazzy sci-fi drama a la BSG or Caprica (only way more exciting and gripping than the latter, of course). Family and romantic drama set amidst a fantastic sci-fi settings and action, all building towards the tragic end of the world... and one little baby rocketed off into the stars.

...Oh, what could be...

I hope they appear in hologram form. Though I wonder why they would come out for Lois and not for Clark. Especially when A.I. Jor-El has been riding Clark the entire series.

yea going to be interesting to see what happens. it would be fun if they do lois sees clark's final moments on kalel, and they show in better form of his launching from memoria with helen and julian in the red/blue outfits and redoing the lines side there, among some other stuff.

vantheman77
10-26-2010, 03:07 PM
I'm glad we will see both Jor-El and Lara together in the flesh. They could provide origin flashbacks or could appear in the Fortress as holograms. I hope Clark interacts with them as well. It's possible he may have seen it while he was training last season. If Clark doesn't see them, there's no way he can move on without a direct experience. It's not the same when you have unnecessary updates from Lois.

If Lois sees the old videotape of her mother, then Clark has to see the message from Jor-El and Lara himself.

We have Clark and Tess dealing with Granny Goodness and Mad Harriet, who fights them both at separate times. I can't see Tess beating a superhuman alien in Mad Harriet since she's an Apokolips soldier.

Tess would've had no problem in dealing with a Kryptonian like Zod since she used Kryptonian brass knuckles on him, but Mad Harriet is not Kryptonian so the fights should be good in this one. This is also a November sweeps episode.

Is there’s any chance that Erica Durance and Teri Hatcher will interact on ‘Smallville’? – CloisScherzy24 via Twitter
Alas, no. The episode “Abandoned” strictly features Lois watching her passed-on mom via videotape. “I don’t get the pleasure of physically shooting with Teri,” Erica lamented when we spoke.

vantheman77

So expect this to be a passing of the Lois Lane torch. It's becoming tradition to see preceding Lois Lanes playing mothers to succeeding ones:

In Superman: The Movie, Noel Neill played Lois' mother.
In Lois and Clark, Phyllis Coates played Lois' mother.
In Smallville, Teri Hatcher will play Lois' mother.

The Superman torch is passed from Christopher Reeve and Dean Cain to Tom Welling. The Supergirl torch is passed from Helen Slater to Laura Vandervoort.
The Lana Lang torch is passed from Annette O' Toole to Kristin Kreuk.

I believe Lois will be at the Fortress accidentally. Jor-El and Lara may be seen in flashbacks and we may get the full origin of Clark. Also, Clark doesn't know that the suit is in the Fortress, but I wonder if Lois will discover that the suit is in there that she may tell Clark about it.

EXCLUSIVE!

First Look Photo: Lindsay Hartley Is Smallville's Newest Badass Babe!

Today 12:35 PM PDT by Megan Masters (http://forums.superherohype.com/uberblog/index.jsp?author=megan+masters)
http://images.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/2010927//293.smallville.lc.102710.jpg Jack Rowand/The CW

DC baddie (http://dcanimated.wikia.com/wiki/Mad_Harriet) Mad Harriet is headed to Smallville, and she's never looked hotter!

Soap star Lindsay Hartley (who also happens to be Smallville stud Justin Hartley's real-life wife)pops up on the CW hit Nov. 12,and we've got your exclusive first look at the gorgeous gal donning Harriet's seriously scary claws...
Lindsay's character answers to Smallville villainess Granny Goodness, and being the good little minion she is, Harriet makes it her mission take Clark down. Sounds fun, right?

The only downside to her guest spot is that longtime fans of Justin and Lindsay won't get that onscreen Passions reunion they're hoping for (we know you're out there!), since Tom Welling (http://forums.superherohype.com/uberblog/celebs/c116917_Tom_Welling.html) is the only castmember she'll interact with.

Buzz surrounding this episode is already huge, and not just because of the Mr. and Mrs. Hartley doubleheader. "Abandoned" also marks the debut of Lois Lane's mom Ella, played by Teri Hatcher (http://forums.superherohype.com/uberblog/celebs/c117120_Teri_Hatcher.html)—who was, of course, TV's Lois Lane in the 1990s. We're told that the arrival of Ella is an emotional roller-coaster ride, so brace yourselves for another hour of Smallville magic.

In Kandor, Clark only briefly interacted with Jor-El in the end in comparison to Chloe, Tess, and Zod interacting with him a lot in comparison. What I saw was a disconnection between Clark and Jor-El.

The pics are looking awesome from Abandoned. The Furies are awesome looking and Clark is dealing with them, not just Mad Harriet. This is the first episode to have Tess stills.

Now I know Darkseid took over Godfrey, so it lookslike he is doing the same with Desaad and Granny. So if that is true and Godfrey, Desaad and Granny all meet does that mean Darkseid is talking to himself? lol

So it may be the Tess came back to life since Granny wants her as a Fury, and used the help of the Luthor DNA to do so!

I think it's the fact that it's pretty much a Freddy Krueger glove. Instead of coming up with something more interesting, you can almost imagine that someone said "Hey, anyone have any Freddy Krueger props at home?"

The glove is lazy as is the rest of the character design, unless she gradually changes.

After seeing her and the rest of the Furies in the Superman/Batman - Apocalypse animated Movie, something like this would've been great.

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/1779/wkarmkrop.jpg (http://img229.imageshack.us/i/wkarmkrop.jpg/)

Not the entire thing, just covering the forearms.

For the outfit, it should be something similar to the design in the middle of this image. Minus the head gear of course. Now that would be an awesome Mad Harriet. Something you could even do on a smallville budget.

well you got to remember, first smallville only has a tv budget. and second they are not always going to be able to recreate everyone's look to the t. Some times what worked in the comics doesnt work in live action tv or even films. Then also they usually throw in there own twists on the characters. we dont know the history yet for granny or harrietty/other furies. For all we know they could be stuck here on earth and dont have full access to alien tech so they have to make do with what they have on earth.

True, especially concerning Desaad, I'd rather have more Riff Raff than Ryan Phillippe, but I suppose it's excusable for the show. It can be chalked up to them wanting to maintain a low profile on Earth. You know, by being hot and stuff. Who knows, maybe their ugly selves will be out in force by end of season. I know they've loved to publicize how emotional the stuff with Hatcher was to film, but it sounds more and more like this could be a very emotional episode over all. The show has always seemed to focus on the fathers of the show, and our main characters' relationships with them, but the moms haven't gotten quite the same spotlight. I always appreciate when they do give them some more focus (Memoria, Lara, Blue, even if the episodes aren't always that great or the stories appealing).

Bahaha. With Smallville, you can rest assured they will be. :p

It did look to me, in one of the pictures, that prim and proper Granny lets her hair down... in quite a mess. Looking forward to that!

Yeah, but I think they could've had him keep a low profile without turning him into a Justin Hartley lookalike. They could've given him a sniveling S&M freak look, which would've gone well since they had Club Desaad earlier this season. Give him long greasy black hair and you're pretty much halfway to a perfect Desaad.

Yeah, I know. There's a subtle (or maybe not so subtle) mocking in my original post of the show's tendency to cast pretty, pretty people, bad guys or no. It's just one of those things you go with the show on, I suppose...

Sawyer

Yeah that's what I was saying before! Because Smallville is very much a looks orientated show it would have been nice to have a real creepy looking character for a change.

Sunken face, dark circles under the eyes, long black hair that almost looks like oil.

But no, because it's Smallville we get Bobby Baywatch instead, lol.

Maybe he will transform into my description towards the end. Which is maybe why they purposly hired an attractive person.

I dont get the "Oh, because it's Smallville..." thing with casting good looking actors. As far as I'm concerned this is the first time they've done it that stands out to me, just because Desaad is actually supposed to be really ugly and the actor isnt.

Here's an interview with Lindsay Hartley

TV Guide Magazine: Isn't Mad Harriet supposed to be an Amazon?
Hartley: She is! Not someone short and scrawny like me. There's not a lot of muscle to me. [Laughs] I'm not the superpower type at all. Harriet is supposed to be the leader of all these girls who kick ass — the other actresses were like acrobats in real life with these gorgeous muscular legs and I'm the leader? Any of them could kick my ass in half a second. [Laughs] I couldn't justify any of it, but I loved it! The special effects department modeled my claws after Freddy Krueger's. This is also the episode where Teri Hatcher plays Lois Lane's mom (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Kecks-Exclusives-Smallvilles-1024207.aspx).It's very much a roots episode, all about where Lois and Tess came from. It's very cool and very eerie.

TV Guide Magazine: So did you whine and whine until Justin got you a job on his show?
Hartley: Oh my God, of course! I have always been a fan of Smallville and wanted to be on it since the show is ending this season. I don't know that I could have done this if Days hadn't let me go. I've been talking to the producers about doing something for the last couple of seasons. I'm always on the set visiting Justin.

Yea lin wasn't saying she is amazon just the character is meant to be larger then what she physically is. As for the comment about the claws I don't see issue either there I guess there costume folks thought the freddy look would been more fessible way for there budget. We do have to remember budget does affect what they can and can't do.

Johnny

Not to mention that if in fact she did have the original look, a lot of people would change the channel. Her look is kinda tricky for live action. Way more than Hawkman and Doctor Fate's.

I remember in that "Look! Up in the Sky!" documentary that came out when Superman Returns came out, they were talking about the L&C show, and how things had never been so deliberately sexy between Lois and Clark. Yet after the last few episodes, I beg to differ.

Abandoned should be another great episode. Teri hasn't aged and has that hair from Lois and Clark. Ambush saw Clark having the Lane Family more cohesive and this episode will probably be Lois' return favor. She may succeed where Kara didn't and I think this is when Lois learns that Clark's family isn't perfect either.

Clark and Tess investigating Granny Goodness and the Female Furies is going to be a highlight with Clark and Tess fighting Mad Harriet, but at separate times. Unlike Chloe, Tess seems more honest with Clark. I've always felt that in terms of the superhero team, Clark/ Tess are on one side while Oliver/ Chloe are on the other. :super:
