Tobey Maguire will both produce and star in Good People, based on the book by Marcus Sakey, reports Production Weekly's Twitter feed.
Good People will be helmed by Niels Arden Oplev, the director of the Swedish film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The Sakey novel focuses on Tom and Anna Redd, a Chicago couple that, after finding nearly $400,000, go to extraordinary lengths to try and keep it.
The rights to Sakey's first novel, The Blade Itself (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=42842), were purchased in 2008 for development by Ben Affleck.
Funnily enough my copy of The Blade Itself just arrived the other day.
