I was told the trailer description is indeed a fake.
And that a teaser will be coming out with TDKR.

Already knew it was fake. Hence didn't do an article about it. Why bother wasting one's valuable time and that of the reader?

It read fake from the get go. I'm not sure what the point is to spend time writing a teaser trailer and presenting it as real.

No seriously. I challenge myself to write up a smashing teaser description. Who's with me?
Nah I'm serious too... I practically wrote half of a teaser back a long in this thread. I'm sure I can fill it out and post it as 'real' :p

Okay, here's my quick go at a fake description :p
Man of Steel Trailer Description
We start with an outside shot of a building in Alaska. Amy Adams voice says 'Okay, just start from the top' and we hear a click. Inside, we see it's a cafe, and Amy Adams and a dishevelled looking man in work overalls are sat in a booth. He's shifting nervously and she is holding out a tape recorder.
He says 'It all happened so fast.'
We cut to an explosion on an oil rig. Then panicked workers trying to get to safety. Fire starts to spread quickly, a few are trying their best to put it out.
The man's voice over says 'We tried to put out the fire.... but the flames were too strong.'
We see the voice over man trying to put out the fire with extinguishing equipment. The equpiment fails and he throws it down in frusration. Then another panicked worker knocks into him, pushing him to the floor and running off. He looks up in fear as a towering metal structure on the rig sways and looks like it's set to fall on top of him
Cut back to Lois and the man in the cafe. She is looking eagerly at him and he is hesitating as though he's still in shock.
He says 'I thought I was a gonna for sure, Miss Lane'
Lois says looks impatient 'What happened?'
We see a fast montage of shots. Bearded shirtless Henry Cavill catching the metal structure. Walking right into the flames. Carrying someone to safety over his shoulders. Finally, waving down a helicopter with a group of workers huddled behind him. All the workers being helped onto a helicopter and then the voiceover man looking around for him and realising he's gone.
Cut back to the cafe.
The man is staring blankly at her.
'It's just not humanly possibly' he says. 'This guy just appeared from no where and saved all of us!'
Lois seems to give up and clicks off her tape recorder sighing as though she thinks the man is lying to protect someone. She puts it back in her bag and regards him skeptically.
She says 'He must have come from somewhere'
Cut to a flash of Jor-el and Lara holding their baby as the world shakes, a flash of the spaceship leaving Krypton, a flash of the planet exploding, a flash of the spaceship crash landing, a flash of Kevin Costner and Diane Lane getting getting out of their vehicle, a flash of a baby in an open spaceship, a flash of a young kid staring out of a window of a school bus, the same kid holding onto the back of the same bus which is half falling off a bridge, a flash of an older Clark looking down at his spaceship in wonder as Russell Crowe's voice says 'Though you've survived our world...' A shot of Shannon and Faora standing side by side in a street that seems like a battle has been happening there (road all torn up, buildings smashed, fire flickering in the background and thick smoke all about)... 'There is still danger'.
Then we see Cavill and Shannon close up, facing each other in a dark room. Cavill says 'I know who you are. And I know where your from'
Shannon and Cavill simply glare at each other.
'What do you want with earth?' Cavill asks.
Shannon smiles. 'You'll find out soon enough.'
Another montage of shots as the music kicks in. A crowd outside the daily planet (Fishburned and Adams at the centre) looking up at something. A car smashing into a farmhouse. Faora hurling a soldier through a window and smiling in pleasure. Soldiers setting up behind vehicles as fire and smoke fill the street. General Swanwick yelling 'Take them all down' into a com.
And the final shot is Cavill and Shannon running at each other and both going to hit each other at the same time when it cuts to black.

I don't think it's surprising that the teaser is with TDKR. It's perfect placement.
-Nolan produced film with Nolan directed film.
-DC hero with DC hero.
-1 year before release.
-Huge movie to put it with.
Timing just worked wonders for WB here. Can't wait.
Here's my layout for a teaser. Some of the descriptions are a little vague or simple. You have to use your imagination. And the underlying music is of your own preference. :yay:
MAN OF STEEL Teaser-trailer - runtime approx 1min:
- Quick montage of the logos for WB, DC, Lengendary Pictures and Syncopy Films looking somewhat stylized.
- Fade up to a slow panoramic shot going over a swaying cornfield which then centers and slowly zooms in on a silhouette against a setting sun. Colors are lush and beautiful. The silhouette is a man with his back to the camera looking towards the sunset.
- Voice-over (by Kevin Costner): "The world is changing... it can be a tough time for a man trying to find his place in it..."
- Cut to shots of busy streets in the heart of a big pulsating city. The final shot goes slo-mo. Fade out.
- Continuence of the first shot zooming closer in on the silhoutte now joined by another silhouette. A woman.
- Voice-over: "… everything has become less black and white......"
- People in the street stop walking and stop talking on their phones. They look up in dismay and disbelief.
- Shot of a thunder-storm on the horizon seen from the empty streets of a small village.
- Voice-over: "… but sometimes a man has just gotta wander out into the greay areas and do what he thinks is best.…"
- Fade to:
- "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF 300 AND WATCHMEN"
- Some people in the street start backing away while others are filming with their phones.
- Back to the silhouettes in the sunset. We see them from the front now. It is a young man (Henry Cavill) and an older woman (Diane Lane) and she takes his hand in hers.
- Voice-over: "…This is your destiny..."
- Shot of the same storm coming closer.
- Fade to:
- "AND THE PRODUCERS OF BATMAN BEGINS AND THE DARK KNIGHT"
- Shot of a storm over an oil-rig. Chaotic shots of the oil-rig coming apart with crew-members running towards a landing chopper.
- Shot of the chopper-pilot looking up in disbelief. In the reflection of the glass we see a human shape hovering in mid-air. That last shot goes slo-mo.
- Voice-over: "…You are going to touch the lives of so many people..."
- The young man and the older woman embrace blocking the view of the sunset and becoming haloed silhouettes. Fade to black.
- Voice-over: "Not just as a man, but as a symbol of peace and hope... A beacon for mankind... "
- Fade in to the young man standing in a barn in front of an alien craft. A slot in the side of the craft unfolds and reveals part of a familiar-looking emblem in red and gold.
- Cut to:
- MAN OF STEEL
- Final shot: close-up of red boots as we pan up to reveal a fully suited Superman looking calm, but very determined with deep blue eyes starting to glow red and the camera starts to tremble.
- Cut to:
- COMING SUMMER 2013
The monologue (which could be better) should of course fit to run over the relevant shots smoothly, but that would probably look very messy in the description itself.

Yeah well... I was going for a more character-focused teaser with little focus on cgi-fx and just trying to build up to future trailers. Like the recent rumors about the TDKR-teaser.
While I would like a teaser like that showing confidence in the story first and foremost and not feeling the need to sell it with big fx, I'm not sure they'll got that way considering it's a reboot of this particular character.
They wanna wash of the underwhelming SR and it's lack of impact. They also want us to know this is a new edgier take on Superman and that he packs a punch this time. And looking at all the other fx-heavy teasers for superhero-flicks they wanna be unpar with that. And finally, it's Snyder and his trailers are anything but subtle.
I think it's safe to at least assume that the MOS-teaser will be pretty intense.
I'd love to be surprised though.

I personally don't want a heavy action cgi teaser trailer. I will try to avoid spoiling it for myself. What you wrote here was spot on for what I'd like to see. It kept me thirsty while still being refreshing.

Really funny actually, I was debating whether to post the Lois interview one or one with Pa Kent monologue in the background. But I think you've written it better than I would have anyway :D

I think I'd do a short teaser, now that I think about it:
DCE logo, Syncopy logo and then the WB logo in the Superman shield colours.
"Doomed Planet"
A war ravaged Kryptonian city comes into view, and a huge tower collapses.
"Desperate Scientists"
Brief action shot of Jor-El and a shot of Lara placing Kal-El in the rocket.
"Last Hope"
A shot of the rocket leaving Krypton and the planet's annihilation.
"Kindly Couple"
Rocket crashes in Smallville. Brief shot of the Kent's.
"is just the beginning..."
Shaky cam shots of Clark in the tornado and rescuing people on the oil rig.
From the Director of "300" & "Watchmen"
And the writers of the "Dark Knight Trilogy"
Glimpse of Superman flying
"MAN OF STEEL"
"Coming 2013"

I remember the teaser for Superman Returns came out in November 2005. The imagery, John Williams theme, Marlon Brando's narration, I thought it 'teased' really well. But, the first and final trailer came out May 2006. I remember how the SHH boards went into overdrive back then. That trailer divided SHH and caused a civil war. Bad times.
Thank god WB sorted their marketing department out before 300 was released, look at the difference in marketing between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I am hopeful for The Man of Steel's teaser, especially after TDKR teaser back in summer.

Does anyone remember the Disney movie "Dinosaur" around 2000 or so? That's the trailer I want. It was an actual clip from the film that shows how a dinosaur egg escapes from getting eaten by a t-rex, then it bounces around trees, gets carried by the river, escapes other predators and other dangerous stuff, and finally winds up in a monkey colony, where we see from the dinosaur's POV as the shell cracks and he's born.
It was just a clip, just as it was later seen in the movie. Just the egg's journey from the mamma's nest to the monkey colony. I'd love a clip of baby Kal-El's ship arriving on Earth and big celebrity couple Ma (Lane) and Pa (Costner) finding it. That's it. They could make it interesting by making the scene different from what we've seen before, like in JJ Abrams' script. Jonathan's hair standing on end because of static electricity as he approaches the ship, stuff like that.
Then speed shots of Superman flying and doing stuff, you know, a quick collage of what to expect from the movie. Then end it with a Zod line, "Why so serious"-style.
I know, it's genius.
Showing a scene from the movie itself instead of a bunch of out-of-context shots would be cool too. It's more compelling.
I'd also love to see a teaser that actually has footage shot just for the teaser. I'm not sure that's even done any more?
How about the length of the first teaser? Is 1 min the standard? Is there a standard?
The Hobbit's first teaser was 2:30 min, but I guess that's pretty unusual.

I think "The Amazing Spiderman's" first teaser trailer was around 2 minutes 24 seconds long.
In any case, I'm hoping for a long teaser, since unlike most films that release their trailer, MOS would have long been completed in terms of its major filming, thus will have more footage to access to.

The Last Airbender did that, ironically the teaser looked far cooler than anything in the actual movie. And lets hope this MOS is on the opposite spectrum in terms of quality.
There isn't really a standard for teaser length, all depends on what is shown. Bourne Legacy was nearly 2 minutes but that was certainly a teaser. ASM first trailer back in July was an actual full length one. MOS should have far more footage to cut from like it did because they finished shooting so early.
Yeah, I guess teasers for some movies feel more like actual trailers. They're certainly long enough.
A 2 minute+ teaser for MOS with a really long build would be preferable then. I just hope it wont be the standard montage of cgi-shots.

Well they ARE trying to market this as a more action based Superman film, after the actionless nature (don't you dare say there was action) of Superman Returns.
So I wouldn't be surprised if we get a lot of action shots in the teaser.

If they're smart they'll try to do something similar to the WTC trailer for Spider-man.
I didn't really like that movie but it broke opening weekend records at the time it was released.
Something epic.
Maybe it opens looking like a Transformer movie with a giant robot attacking a building. It looks hopeless until, from from the heavens, something drops from and crushes the robot flat. The smoke clears a little and you see Superman's sillouette. Then you cut to the title and date with some inspiring music.
I like the idea of doing the teaser as being something else in the beginning. Or at least it's not clear form the get-go.
Still love the style and 180-turn of this teaser. Has great music too that also changes:

If it comes to June and they give us THAT, I will be seriously seriously pissed off.
I want as much footage crammed in there as possible.
And now I feel like posting Snyder's past teasers, cause when I watch them, I get super pumped at the idea we might get something even half as exciting in just a few months! :D :p Seems to me he is pretty consistent with providing a lot of 'money shots' in the teasers, great pacing, good choice of music to suit the tone, and that feeling of 'yeah, that looked ****ing awesome' afterwards :)

I didnt mean I wanted that particular trailer. Just the build-up and the surprise-moment.
And you're right. The trailers for Snyder's movies have great styles that fit that particular movie. I reckon we'll get yet a new different tone for MOS, possibly "maturer" and possibly more subtle.
But it will probably still have some kickass Snyder-shots in it.

I'd be fine with something like that if it was in the vain of withholding information. Have just Clark doing something that's ordinary, talking with Lois etc. Until at the end with the big reveal that its a Superman movie. Batman Begins did this pretty well, you wouldn't know it was a Batman movie until Wayne revealed the suit.
However, WB want people to know this has the action that was lacking in the last movie. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just a short intro with a bunch of various cuts of action.

Shot of General Zod leaping off of a low bridge with a sword, about to hit Jor-El who is holding a shield.
Another thing about that fake trailer description is that I think there would be more to Krypton than shields and swords. The idea seems to have been based off Jor-El's costume and people saying Krypton would look medieval. Though it looks like, with the CGI suits, Zod would have more to him. I mean, wouldn't Krypton have more advanced weaponry?
Clark in school spinning a pencil in the air using telekinesis
That's the other thing that immediately stuck out as wrong. Though it's a fun read and written by someone obviously following all the rumours and news etc.

The scary part about that fake trailer description is that the horrible dialogue actually screams David Goyer. Perhaps whoever made it up was clever enough to channel his or hers ´´inner David Goyer`` (creepy thought, innit?:woot:) to make it more believable. Thankfully though they did a poor job with the rest of the description making it easy it to see that it's a fake, for anyone who's followed the film's development a bit anyway.

Here is EXACTLY how I would do a TRUE teaser.
-Silence. No logo's. Just the blank theater screen.
-TIGHT on a T.V. in a storefront window at night- a newscast plays. An empty desk. Suddenly, abruptly, a newsman; 45 rushed and unkempt; trembling. Fumbles with microphone. Unsettling. Shaking. Desperately trying to sound confident, he begins:
“Ladies and gentleman. If you are watching this, and are NOT taking shelter underground, we strongly urge you -ALL of you-everywhere-to do so IMMEDIATELY. Anywhere you can find."
(beat)
"At this hour, not much is clear. What we do know is that there are visitors on this planet, and that there is conflict between them-sections of New York City have been destroyed; parts of Metropolis. There has been some sort of activity in the Sahara. A great deal of Seoul, Korea, no longer exists.”
-All this man wants to do is cry. But hes a pro. We realize NOW that we have slowly PUSHING in on the t.v. screen, so much so that we cannot see its edge any more. He continues:
-“Only weeks ago, this report would have seemed…ludicrous. Aliens…using Earth as a battleground.”
-He calms, but, with growing venom: “But…that was before Superman. (a pause-audience goes “Superman?!?”- he continues “It turns out our faith in his kind may have been…naïve. Premature. Perhaps, given the state of the world, simply desperate.” He pauses-voices off screen- the Music that had been building ERUPTS as the man freaks at what he hears-makes a move-RUMBLING-the desk is RIPPED upwards-and the screen goes static. The music comes to a SCREECHING halt.
-Surrounded by rubble in the middle of a Metropolis street at night, GENERAL ZOD-badass dressed in black, ozzing evil-glares past us. A motionless body, wounded, bloodied, lies in a crater opposite him. Rises. Pan up and around from his fit tp his iconic suit to the face, hurt, but determined, Cavils classic blue eyes blazing with determination: the is a Superman we've never seen on film, yet the kind we‘ve always imagined. He's bruised and bloodied, but ready for a fight.
-The music stops, as he growls: “Miss me?”
-The music erupts again, fast paced, epic
-Quick-as in ½ second shot each-shots of:
-Superman gliding over the arctic at night
-Shot of Jor El/Russel Crowe in Battle with General Zod
-Foara struts across the desert
-Downtown of Krpyton city, futuristic and immense
-Lois Lane looks skyward while on the a tower balcony at night
-Kevin Costner and Diane Lane look worried in Smallville
-A tidal wave smashes into an oil rig
-Laurence Fisbourne ducks for cover
-Superman soars past us blindly
-military helicopters spiral out of control
-A building explodes
-Clark Kent jumps into a phone both, rips open his shirt, to reveal
-the 'S' Logo
-Shot of Zos, almost enjoying himself:
-Black screen, as he hisses: “Are you ready?"
-Superman looks beaten, near death
-Zod continues, Cry for me, ‘Super' man”.
-Black screen.

I'm really conflicted about spoilers... on the one hand, I really don't want to read any because i'm afraid i'll either get so excited and then be dissapointed if it's not how I interpreted it OR i'll start getting really downhearted if it starts sounding off, even though the spoilers might be inaccurate or I might be interpreting them wrong...

True. I'm kind of planning on bailing as soon as the MOS teaser is released. I think post-trailer/teaser is when most of the spoilers will be heading our way. But then again I guessed we would have had plenty more by now (I was thinking set pics would reveal a lot more) than what we initially got.

I wonder if they're holding back on a trailer to see how "John Carter" does. If both films are CGI heavy, they may want to think about marketing in a way to give Superman an advantage John Carter didn't.

I think MOS will have a very focused marketing campaign and teaser trailer. I think WB learned their lesson on the SR campaign where they weren't sure what kind of movie they wanted to sell, but that was more with the TV spots than the teaser. As far as John Carter is concerned, I'm not sure the whole "before star wars/avatar" tag line was a very good idea. A lot of people that I've had to explain what the premise of the movie to were more confused/put off by the comparison than anything else.

The visuals are definitely there and they have a great dynamics to them. They're unique looking and epically shot. Though much less gritty and stylized than 300 MOS simply cannot fail in the visuals department. It would be impossible.
Not too crazy about Snyder's trailers always using "edgy" music though to make it more youthful and hip, but that's a common trend anyways.

But then I never understood people's problem with the NIN track on the Avengers trailer. I love it... it makes me bop my head, and if i'm bopping my head along to a trailer, that means i'm thinking 'this is cooooool' :funny:
Because it should be possible to address the same target group as well as older ones using a more serious and mature approach.

Exactly. Which is why NIN is lost on The Avengers. It's too dark and too deep. Or it usually is.
The song is fine, but doesnt fit the target audience or the mood for that matter. It's too hard and edgy for a movie for kids. That would be like using Philip Glass in a Ninja Turtles trailer, roughly put. :oldrazz:

I know what your saying, and I could see your point if it was a different song, but the chorus to 'We're in this together' is pretty PG-13.
Besides, like I said, it was picked for the lyrics! 'You and me, We're in this together now, None of them can stop us now, We will make it through somehow, You and me, If the world should break in two, Until the very end of me, Until the very end of you'
Seems pretty Avengers appropriate... but maybe your right, maybe that is an immature way to pick a song for a trailer... I just personally love it :D

If Sucker Punch was trying to be normal and turned out weird, i'd be worried... but it was intentionally weird :)
I don't really feel like I can judge Synder's ability to film a 'real world' movie based on much of anything he's done.

Here's some fresh new rumors about the MOS teaser trailer. This is from the site that shall not be named, but it's still something nonetheless. I will just paste the article since there is no point in posting the link.....
We have some updated news to share on the Man of Steel trailer, a trailer that super fans everywhere have been eagerly anticipating.
Previously we told you that a source informed us that the Man of Steel trailer will be attached to The Dark Knight Rises this July (I also expect something at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con), that it will be around one minute in length, and that it will not feature heavy use of CGI.
Our source just got back to us revealing a few more possible details.
He says he is still hearing all of the above to be true with the additional news that the Man of Steel trailer will center on Henry Cavill as Clark Kent. The Man of Steel trailer "will be focused more on Clark Kent as a character than action shots."
However, that doesn't mean director Zack Snyder won't try to please the fanboys in us all as there will be "a few action shots of Superman and Zod to satisfy as well."
As with any trailer, our source said it will be "giving the audience a hint of the story."
Our source did go on to say this description for the Man of Steel trailer is not set in stone, as this "isn't a confirmation, as nobody seems to know whether it will - or won't, but it's a strong possibility."
Consider this news to be rumor as ****** **** **** can't confirm.
But what I can offer is that the source previously revealed Green Lantern movie news to us that turned out to be true, as well as rumors on The Dark Knight Rises and the Man of Steel climax and eary script drafts.

Agreed. I, like many of you, are absolutely STARVING for concrete news/pics concerning MOS, but I guess this is better than nothing. I just don't see a film directed by Zack Snyder NOT having any money shots in the first trailer. Plus a minute seems way too short for a film that will have been in post-production for several months by the time July rolls around.

Hah, based on that teaser description it seems like someone is trying to guess how the teaser will go based on the Batman Begins teaser. Centered on Bruce, about a minute long... And of course at the end the ever present ´´treat this as a rumor, it may not be true, no confirmation, blablabla...`` so that in case their lucky guess doesn't come true, they can always defend their false ´´info`` with ´´´hey, we said it might not be true!``, sigh...
Now, Im not saying something like that couldn't happen, because unlike most Im not expecting to be blown away by the teaser. It will be a teaser after all I don't know why so many are expecting a lot of money shots. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see a 2:30 trailer that would make my jaw hit the floor so hard It would make a hole in it but that's just unrealistic. You got to build hype not blow it all off on a teaser when the movie will still be almost a year away at that point. And quite frankly im sick of most movies these days showing just about everything in the trailers in terms of money shots, I'd rather see less than more.
That being said, I still expect this teaser to feature more than a hint of action, because of Snyder. I'd certainly be pissed if they showed only a second glimpse of Superman like they did with Batman in BB teaser. Seeing the suit in motion is on top of my ´´must see`` list. But unlike most here I'd be perfectly happy if the teaser had no money shots and ended with Superman picking himself up or landing on the ground ready to brawl with Zod, Supes eyes glowing read and just as he shots the beam the S logo appears. Now that's a tease!

Yeah was thinking that myself, they really have to sell this movie from the start, on the first teaser they need to show money shots. A character driven trailer won't do anything for Man of Steel look at how The Amazing Spiderman has so far been mismarketed, way too much focus on characterisation.

Given on how MOS has the advantage of actually having completed production and having had a few months now into creating some of their effects based shots, you'd think that the teaser trailer for MOS would be a bit longer than normal teasers for film.
I kind of hope that it's around the 2:20 Mark like how it was for The Amazing Spiderman.

i don't want 2:20, it's a bit too much. I mean, i will love it, but showing too much early, especially we got a year left, can be a waste.
They should gradually tease the world. I don't mind smaller teasers here and there. Start showing the Superman symbol everywhere
they have plenty of time to market the film

Cosmic Book News says that the teaser attached to TDKR will be one minute in length. They say that there are dozens of teasers they'll use, but the likely one put out will center heavily on Clark Kent more than Superman. Scenes featured will likely focus on Clark's arrival in Alaska and Metropolis, as well as interaction between Martha, Jonathan, and Clark. Additionally, short glimpses of Lois, Superman, and Zod issuing a warning to Superman.

Dozens even? If true I'm glad they're playing it cool and focusing on Clark (who after all is the main character, even more so than Supes, or at least in MOS) although it might not be what the character needs to grab the GA. I only hope Zod's warning promises intensity for future trailers as I'm sure it will.

Well since a WB executive told Deadline that the reason for putting TDKR trailer with the Avengers is because ´´a lot of people will be going to The Avengers! It will provide the best potential exposure for The Dark Knight Rises.`` I now have zero doubt that the MOS teaser will appear with TDKR, since they will probably apply the some logic in that case.
However I still think they will mess up the marketing for MOS. I hope not but at the end of the day it's their $$$ not mine. :BA

they need to focus less on Clark and more on action... seriously the earlier that the message of this being a big extremely high on visual content epic action film the better. Character of course is important but this sort of teaser seems as dull as the SR trailers.
The only thing that I remember loving about the SR campaign was the first teaser, that was spectacular... but the other trailers were really crap and so was the film.

As well as this :) (the official descrip):
'In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman.'
We know a few random bits and bobs, like there is a fight in Smallville between Faora, Zod and a possible third villain/creature/we don't know what. We know there is a scene where a bearded shirtless supes rescues some people on an oil rig. We know that there are fight scenes between jor-el and zod. We know there is some sort of battle scene on krypton. We know that there will be a tornado in Smallville, and also a school bus crash. We know there was smoke pumped into the streets of chicago... so i'm guessing that's another fight scene in Metropolis. And we've seen CK cycling around with no glasses in Metropolis.
That's pretty much all the important stuff we know for sure... unless anyone can point out something glaring I missed?

You know how Avengers makes me feel?
So many superhero movies have come out over the last few years. And with a few exceptions, the majority of people have seen their 'favourites' treated with respect and given quality stories.
Batman fans have a choice of movies they can love (whether it be Burton's or Nolans). Spiderman fans have a choice of movies they love (whether it be Raimi's, or whether they are excited for ASM instead). X-men fans have a choice of movies they can love (The original triology, Wolverine Origins or X-men First Class).
As a Superman fan, I feel like it's absolutely OUR god damn turn. Especially because i'm not a fan of the Donnerverse, and that's the only 'choice' there has been for Superman fans, in terms of film, since the 70s.
And when I watch Avengers, I can only imagine fans of Avengers or any of those individual characters are over the moon...
I mean, what more could they possibly ask for? Each major member of the team has had it's own successful solo movie (or in Hulk and Iron Mans case, more than one), and now a hugely successful team up that will always be the first of it's kind, and has created so much buzz.
2013 cannot get here soon enough.
I am soooooo hungry for it. I am so jelous, and have been for a good long while, of other fans who have had their needs met by some brilliant films about their favourite hero. Sickly jelous :funny:

I'm with you there. I mean I really like the first Superman film a lot (the RDC of Superman II is decent as well) and Reeves was an amazing Superman. I'm hoping we do see some of Snyder's flare for colour. I mean, we are all hoping for a more realistic world setting, but things like space and krypton can still be filmed in that Snyder way that makes everything look gorgeous :)
MOS stopped filming a while back (feb I think it was), but I guess they are just trying not to release things too early as the date is so far away, and there is so much buzz for other heroes that are coming out sooner that it might get lost in the thick of it.
Best to attach it to TDK IMO, for obvious reasons, but nothing has been confirmed.

So, has MoS filming stopped or are they still shooting scenes? I haven't kept up with that.
They finished shooting three months ago. In fact, they started post-production work during shooting. Snyder and Brenner went through dailies, edited complete scenes, and sent them off to various post-production houses to start work. I wouldn't be surprised if close to half of the CGI work is finished by now. (And they likely have some choice 'money shot' bits for a teaser ready.)
At the rate they're going, MOS will be finished by this fall. It seems likely they'll keep the June 2013 date now, but at least they won't be rushing to complete it like they did with Green Lantern. And if they move it to an earlier 2013 date or late 2012, that's fine by me too.

I think the Man of Steel trailer is more important than the Avengers trailer or the Dark Knight Rises. Those films already have built-in audiences.
We also know the general look of those films even without seeing a trailer. We've already seen the Iron Man armor on screen. We already seen what Chris Evans and the rest of the cast looks like in their costumes. We've already seen the visual look and tone of Christian Bale as Batman.
Other than some leaked photos, we have no idea of the visual look and tone of Man of Steel. We really don't know how Henry Cavill looks as Superman.
I'm hoping the teaser trailer gives us those answers.

Isn't it usually the big summer blockbusters that have teasers around a year before release? Even then, it's usually the ones that don't have many special effects, so I wouldn't expect that anyway.
Man of Steel has the benefit of having a delayed release and being ahead of the production timeline even then. They should start some low-key marketing now though, IMO, perhaps a few character posters.

They are in an interesting position. On one end, they are probably really far along given they wrapped months ago(and films like trek are still shooting whilst IM3(which comes out before) are still in pre-production). They could be the buzz film on next year simply by being the only film anyone has seen anything of and building off of that. Moreover, one would argue that the key to MOS's success will be in it's marketing all things considered. Everyone knows the character but at the same time they really only know the dumb version of him. And to be honest the Animated series presents him as an un-relateable mute.
However, like I said earlier, any press involving a superhero at this point takes away from the collective buzz of other superheros, which includes WB's looming release. Avengers and Spiderman buzz hurts TDKR. Friends are likely to talk about Thor or Spiderman tmr and that means they're not talking about Batman which is bad. So, in that sense WB would be wise to hold off on introducing Superman buzz till after Bats has had his moment. Plus after bats, WB has nothing else to do in this genre...
All that being said, if we don't get a Superman teaser ala watchmen@TDK I'd be not only surprised but.... Now what I hope does happen is that WB using all their great footage drops a full juicy, plotty, trailer of MOS with TDKR. There wouldn't be a better venue, ever. Moreover if they really pitch a fresh exciting Superman to the audience this much in advance of anything coming out next year. The buzz would simply snowball for months without interruption. They would then release the next one with Hobbit as they always do their winter spots. They would skip the superbowl(not sure why) as they always do. And we'd be set.
look for Superman spot to drop with TDKR. If not...I'll eat my shorts.

the teaser needs to be epic and powerful.......it needs to leave the audience with their collective jaws dropped and the audience saying........DAMN!! :wow:

We need a cystal clear shot of Henry Cavill as Superman. We need to see how he looks in the suit and how the suit looks on the big screen.
An image with Henry wearing glasses wouldn't be bad either.

Very true. They really need to sell it like they mean it! Every inch of it AND Cavill. Make it shine. Make it look cool, slick and sleek once and for all.
I think Cavill will be great, but they need to really showcase Crow and the other well known actors. Also a great shot of Krypton could go a long way at distancing this movie from the others.

I personally just don't get it what's exciting about that teaser.
Is it one of those things were it's only people who loved the Donner films who can appreciate it?
Pretty much, which means it worked on that level. That being the only level and just barely.

What was 'epic' about it though?
I mean, seriously, there is no shot in there that I'd class as 'epic'... I mean, I suppose an arguement could be made for the floating in space shot... but there just really isn't much there to make you go 'wow'.
If you loved the old films, I can see people getting all goosepimply over the brando voiceover and the music and the glimpses of things.
But as someone who didn't particularly like the old films, I just don't see anything exciting going on at all in that trail, let alone epic.

I agree. Maybe the Brando voiceover is cool but i just dont get the love. I'm a bit weird that way tho, i cant say ive ever loved a superman movie yet. I guess Man Of Steel is looking to be more of my cup of tea.
I hope the teaser makes it clear it's a reboot and completely different than Superman Returns/Donner. Im sure it will, but i mean reaaaally go out of its way to show a different tone and style of teaser.

Pretty much. I've never cared for the Donner films, so the only thing I liked about that teaser was getting to hear the Williams music through cinema speakers for the first time (since the films it came from were before my time).
I have high hopes that the MoS teaser will have a better effect on me.

I dunno why, but the newscasters dialogue makes me think of Watchmen. Like I can hear it in Nixon's voice :funny:
Especially the line 'At this hour, not much is clear'... Does he say something similar on the news broadcast in Watchmen after the attacks on cities?
Anyway, pretty cool sounding teaser. Though I'm not sure about supes growling, or ending on the line 'cry for me'. But still, it'd get me pumped

I about cried when I first saw the teaser for SR. Simply because it had been over 20 freaking years since Supes had been on the big screen. I believe that's one of the reasons why many people loved it. Plus at that time, the only movie incarnation of Superman that we really knew was the Donnerverse. So yeah, it was a mix of nostalgia and the fact that we were actually getting a new Superman movie, with updated special effects and in HD.

That's because the whole reporter and Zod looking at bruised Superman segments is lifted straight from the beginning of JJ Abrams Superman Flyby script.

I actually enjoyed the SR teaser trailer. If I recall, it was attached to one of the Harry Potter films ( and it was one of the main reasons why I went to that film......lol ).
but, that was before I started to learn about the plot points of the film, namely the bastard child........
I ended up hating SR with a passion, and I'm hoping MOS will return ( no pun intended ) Superman to his big screen glory.

If they don't role out the first teaser in front of TDKR, they're missing such a brilliant marketing opportunity. To the non-comic book fan, the normal movie goer, linking the new Superman film to the Nolan Batman films is just a good thing.
And hell, we got the first teaser for TDKR only a few weeks into shooting TDKR. So considering MOS is wrapped they'll have ample footage (if not all the CGI) they need.

I'm excited for both because it's going to make it feel more like an event. I knew going into The Dark Knight there was going to be a Watchmen trailer and even now when I watch that trailer, my heart beats so fast cause it takes me back to sitting in the theater at midnight waiting for TDK but being so taken back by the trailer. When the music starts to slow down, I remember my heart pounding even faster thinking "Holy crap...The Dark Knight is starting soon!"
I want that feeling again this year but to be even more impressed with a SUPERMAN trailer.

That seems like the most logical thing to do, but now that we're thinking about it...when did they announce that TDKR would be in front of Harry Potter last year? Like a couple weeks before? Hopefully Warner Bros. is just waiting to make that announcement.
...and although while it seems like the most logical, WB didn't put a Superman Returns teaser before Batman Begins. Did that have anything to do with the film not being all the way done? I mean, MoS is just about wrapped up..certainly it's not the case.

I'm sure it was because Superman Returns was still filming. If I remember correctly, they started in March and finished in November. It was too early for a teaser with Batman Begins in June. We got the first teaser in November with Harry Potter.
As for Man of Steel, they finished filming in February. That's plenty of time for them to make a good teaser and attach it to The Dark Knight Rises.
