First up.... a statement from Bay himself....

Hey, it's been a long time since I've posted. Just been a little busy.

Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I've always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”

We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.

I also was at a Ferrari charity event this week raising money for a hospital being built by Ferrari in Haiti. I announced that night the newest Autobot to join Transformers: the Ferrari 458 Italia.

I also want to thank everyone on this site that donated to the Make -A-Wish charity. We raised $20,000 which I will personally be matching. This is a great charity where they make wishes come true for kids who are very ill. We have had many Kids from Make-A-Wish visit us on our Transformers sets and this time we will be posting video of their visits on Transformers 3.

I know he announced it before the film would go in production. Michael Bay did these in the past 2 movies two so I'm not surprised just laughing at the inclusion of the Twins.

I really don't care at this point. I expect an amazing ILM reel of Transformer action helmed by Bay.

The misinformation was that they weren't in the film initially told to us by Michael Bay.

I also wouldn't give to much credence of them dying in the first act as there have been a ton of pictures of the Twins throughout several scenes.

So I doubt the entire "they die in the beginning" business holds any water. Truth is the twins sold a **** load of toys and kids like them along with Sideswipe. So we are going to get more twins, Sideswipe action along with several new Autobots.

Twins are defintely in the film and in a lot of scenes albeit a fresh black repaint for both. XD

I really like that they brought the action back to the city
everyone complained after the first and when we lost the context of the city in the second the spectacle really fell flat.

also, thank goodness for bay's use of practical effects along with cg, that's whats really selling that optimus gif for me.

you're entitled to your opinion but I'm just hopeful that you acknowledge the other line of thinking.
Bays never made subtle his intent to shoot these films like "War" from the recruitment drive shots to the in battle human perspective, your need to see the characters takes a back seat to immersive cinematography.

besides the bay movies have no characters outside of 2 autobots right, everyone else if fodder if logic holds.

I enjoyed the sound theme. For me, was different and effective. Not a fan of the way Optimus spins around so much though, but I suppose it goes a bit with being dropped into the battle.

that's an interesting point
I personally see it as a result of two things.

Much like the new batman, it's his style. And more importantly it's his style when he has his two sabers out(and hot). You don't see wolverine doing jeet kune do or aki do when his claws are out.

And moreover he tends to only pulls this movie when he's surrounded, which has happend twice now. Each time he's done it, there has also been an outside force somewhat pushing him to do it such as a dismounting rocket pack or literally being pushed and shoved. I think the animators and bay have taken all this into account.

That being said I wouldn't mind seeing some new combos myself.

I LOVED the scene in the t.v. spot with Optimus tearing down the street, the whole scope of this movie looks far bigger than the last two (like it should).

I personally like the way Optimus spins and fights around when he's surrounded, it's impressive seeing someone so big move so fluid and graceful.

well I just find it funny. true their relationship may have ended but Dreamworks still was a big part of ROTF that came out in 2009. I guess Paramount has all the rights here when it came to the partnership. I just thought that DW would still want money from this franchise. Plus that means DOTM wont be on HBO. True I will get the dvd but I like seeing it on HBO as well. thats just me. I was just surprised that DW let it go.

Its not that they did the first one but were one of many partners in bringing it to fruition.

Dreamworks Animation still has their contract with Paramount. It's Dreamworks pictures that are no longer working with Paramount since 08.

Dreamworks is smart because they've now partnered themselves with Disney via Touchstone. Captain America 2, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, The Avengers, will all be over at Disney so Dreamwork can easily become a partner for any of those other movies.

Kind of sucks that Paramount will be losing a bunch of Marvel properties after 2011. They are good stewards.

My guess is: In the "trailer" he still has the ability to use Jetfires's parts. There needs to be a place to have access to these parts and transport them. The trailer is then needed for this to be plausible. Although the trailer was in G1 it always disapeared and was not needed in the movies until now.

Michael Bay Talks Briefly About the New Bots

*Spoiler alert. There's one bot that Bay reveal.

On the carpet, Bay also briefly touched on two new alien bots set to debut in "Dark of the Moon." "Sentinel Prime is great. He's great," he said. "I can't tell you anything else, other than he's great."

And about the villain Shockwave, Bay say, "He's bad," adding that compared to Megatron, "He's got a much bigger gun [and is] a little bit more vicious."

Giving Optimus a trailer in the first 2 movies would have only slowed him down from kicking butt.

Maybe they still have that shard of allspark that Sam used on Jet Fire to bring him back to life in the last movie, that is if Jet Fire didn't absorb all of its energy but we don't really know if they ever recovered the shard after bringing Jet Fire back to life. Prime crushed The Fallen's spark in ROTF but maybe Jet Fire's spark was still salvageable, like the bots body may be destroyed but the spark still lives on outside of the body as long as the spark pod isn't completely destroyed.

Yeah Sentinel Prime shaped up to be quite impressive, so most likely Optimus Prime won't be the only Autobot powerhouse.

I know Iron Side is one of the toughest autobots, but he's clearly not on Optimus/Megatrons level.

Knowing Michael Bay this is one of the times where hilarious G1 scene by scene lack of continuity matches with Bay's Transformers.

Lets get real G1 was ridiculous as heck. Michael Bay is a master pyrotechnic with a very advanced comprehension of setting up action sequences and working with VFX. Who better to bring the greatest aspect of two transforming metallic aliens at civil war who stumbled upon Earth than Michael Bay.

The first one is a legitimately entertaining film and the second one is pretty bad but with pretty impressive visual effects nonetheless. DOTM looks like its elaborating CGI and bots but in a much better and interesting way than ROTF thanks to more time to conceive the script and that its plot leans heavily on the sci-fi in a way that the first film did.

Still watching this movie in IMAX 3D day one. Even though I disliked ROTF , I watched it in IMAX on opening day and got a headache because I had ****** seating way to close to the damn screen.

Defintely need to show up earlier. :up:

i'll have to wait and see, but bumblebee has always been top heavy and optimus doesnt have any real noticeable differences. if i dont notice anything then thats good, but if there are things in the film itself (not these images) that stand out i hope its for the better.

and shockwave does look pretty cool, if not a little reminiscent of megatron from the first film. but the single eye certainly helps differentiate. plus megs will have a new design again.

i could have done without the testicles on devastator BUT i thought it was humorous and from a design standpoint- those wrecking balls had to go somewhere...
