View Full Version : Will Cap Have Only One Big Mission??

Just wondering if this movie is gonna have Cap having only one big mission and then go M.I.A. over the North Atlantic..... or will they do a montage of Newspaper Headlines spanning the years, chronicling his many battles until 1945?
I figure they'd have to put that montage (if they do that) in the middle of the movie and THEN have a final battle with the Skull.
What do you think?
I'd think it would be shame to have the Super Soldier used only one time....

As much as I like the idea of having cap doing many missions in a montage (which gives room for potential WWII sequels), from a storytelling perspective it's highly unlikely.

Man...I hope you're wrong...
You are so right!! They could do sequels off of his WWII adventures...$$$$
Maybe introduce the Invaders...:wow:

Also, Cap is suppose to be a battle savvy , tactical genius mainly because of his many battles. He got all this experience BEFORE he is found by the Avengers.
If he's only had one battle........ What's up with that???

I blieve it was stated that there would be a montage of scenes with Cap on missions with the Commandos. I'll try and find it.

I remember reading something about Cap jumping on a Hydra or Nazi train during a montage.

I hope so....his career should span nearly the entire war....right?

Yeah, I think in the movie comic it has 1 of the dates as 1944

Yes....you are correct. The Spirit of 76 took over for him after he was thought dead, in the comic book history.
My thought is his first "mission" is the self-appointed rescue of Bucky.....the second will result in his frozen state. Also recall the montage info.

Those will be his two main missions, the ones the film spends time on..
but if the info about the montage and 1944 are accurate, they will not be his only missions

The montage info came from this article:

Assuming its correct (no reason it won't be considering the source) then yup, he will have several missions before getting frozen, but we will only see the first jailbreak one and the finale with the Skull in detail.
Man...I hope not. Only two missions???
Indy in Raiders only had the one.......It's all in the telling:cwink:.

Cap is not Indy.
Indy is an archeologist by trade....Cap is a special ops Super Soldier...he should have a lot of fighting experience from the war, before he is found in the ice.
It looks like they are changing even that a little. Do you think the Skull is frozen with Cap in the bomber??

As long as we don't get the shaft like in XO: Wolverine where it really only seemed like they went on just one mission before Wolverine quit.

Why are you comparing Indian Jones to Captain America?

Probably because the director of Captain America worked on Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I dont know about montages, would be great way to put in additional stories later in the future, but I know his big mission in the movie is to stop this ultimate bomb targeted at the white house, created by redskull, which is powered by the cube.

Latino Review is legit so ill take their word for it about the montage unlike some of you gloom and doom types.
Probably because the director of Captain America worked on Raiders of the Lost Ark.
That...........and First Avenger in tone has been compared by the filmakers themselves to Raiders.

It's in the link I posted before. The info comes from the production designer on the film so I'd count that as confirmation.

Of course people will ignore your post and continue ranting about only 1 or 2 missions.

I really hope not, there needs to be a scene with Cap on D-day! Plus, Rogers being only on one mission would make the legend he supposedly is seem weak.

As much as I love the direction this film is going in, not having a D-Day sequence would be an incredibly wasted opportunity.
I really don't want to see Cap parachuting into action on D Day or storming the beaches... it would seem to belittle the actual achievements of the heroes who invaded Normandy. IF you were to have Cap active on D Day... have him doing something equally important, that didn't make world wide headlines.

Something tells me that a D-Day invasion is not on the menu. Didn't Johnston say that they didn't want to put Rogers in battle ans put him in the USO instead??
I still want to see a montage of battles involving some big covert missions.
Yeah... I see Cap's involvement more.. behind the scenes. If there is a battle taking place... Cap is already across enemy lines and fighting the greater threat on the other side... not the immediate threat in front of the regular army. So (for example) If he was there on D Day... I would say he should have been preventing Hydra Super weapons from fixing onto the D-Day invasion force... or something like that. Something that doesn't belittle the efforts of the fighting men who stormed the beaches and parachuted into Normandy.... But something fictional, that only he could do, that aided the war effort covertly.

What Rage says.
I just finished watching Band of Brothers (again) this weekend, and I just don't like the idea of Cap being there at Normandy... at least not on the front lines. Cap in the early comics was a spy smasher and did a lot of covert stuff. PLUS... in the marvel movies, it seems like very few people seem to really know who Cap is... I like that he may have been a secret weapon (almost urban legend among the men) Everybody has heard about him, but few have seen him in person... but word of mouth and rumours run rampant about what he can and has done.

Hole in one, Rage.
Film-Cap will have had many missions. The movie will presumably show us two full on (First: Save Bucky, and Last: Stop Red Skull/Deep Freeze) plus montage sequence.
The film does span 1942 to 1944 at least. Let's not knee-jerk-assume Cap sat on his keister between missions, now.

AWWW! Now my joke doesn't make any sense!!
Back on topic. I hope to see a montage that shows Cap fighting multiple enemies over the course of the war. I get the impression that the shot of Cap and the Howling Invaders barging through that doorway with Guns a blazing is from the montage... just seems like a montage moment.
