I'm kind of surprised that we haven't gotten a "Thor Film Reviews" thread opened as of yet considering on how close we're getting to the actual premiere.
As soon as reviews show up I'm sure someone will make one

I'm kind of curious if any passing remark will be made about how one of Odin's trinkets was used as one of the main plot devices for the events that took place in CA? I mean you would think that Odin would be aware of how his things are being used and such, and given that we heard from interviews that Thor is also used naturally as a way of leading into CA's film, it does make me wonder if any reference or comments will be made about it.

I have to say I'm kinda shocked we're this far into the film's marketing campaign and we haven't heard a single line from the Warriors Three. Hopefully they save all Warriors Three related goodness for the film itself :awesome:

That is kind of wierd, we haven't really seen them in action either.

Less than a month away until the release of one of my most personally anticipated superhero films ever. To think, Sam Raimi was once going to direct a Thor film (I'm happy that he didn't because then we wouldn't have gotten an amazing Spider-Man trilogy. Yes, I loved all 3 with 2 being the greatest comic book film of all time, IMO).

Just think, guys, after Thor comes out, we only have to wait a year to see him on screen again, lol.

Haha, yeah, it's kind of funny how Sam Raimi and Matthew Vaughn were the two directors previously attached to do Thor

What do you mean?
With all the trailers, you can piece together much of the Destroyer fight. Seems like the Warriors III have hardly been shown at all in ANY of the actual fighting so far.

I really Liked Rami's Asgardian episodes in Hercules. Vaughn's take would have been interesting.

True, but I'm kinda glad they're saving most of their footage for the film.

On another note, I hope Thor does some actual melee fighting with The Destroyer. So far they've only shown them fighting from a distance in the trailers & tv spots.

So I never buy comics anymore, but today I just went to a shop located very close to my campus and bought "Marvel Masterworks Vol. 4: The Avengers" which holds the first 10 issues. And I dunno the store's typical policy, but the guy said on Free Comic Book Day I get like 30 free ones since I spent over ten bucks. So I guess I'll make it a weekend to see Thor May 6 and go into town the next day while I'm all jacked up on dis ****!

And I love the contrast with the small town in the middle of nowhere :yay:

No offense, but that's nonsense.

Every behind the scenes promotional thing has some dude from the set trying to sell how unique the movie is. 'When Thor is in Asgard there are castles. But when he gets to Earth...there aren't castles!'

What a load of crap. Movie could still be great or terrible, but there wasn't any insight there.

There is a small town. And there is Asgard, which is looking pretty spectacular. I like the contrast. Of course the movie could still be great or terrible on the basis of that, but nobody suggested otherwise.

Besides special effects, CGI and big ass explosions, there isnīt much else.
As for Asgard, all they show is skyline shoots and the throne room, which is the same in all trailers, which makes me wonder if there is anything else.

I don't know if there is a "right type of bow", it's all about what you're comfortable with.

There's basically 3 types of bow, the longbow, the recurve, and the compound. Any of the 3 could kill you, the compound is probably the most ubiqutous among hunters now a day, because it's much easier to draw and hold.

From a military standpoint, when they would use a bow, it would be a compound bow. The technology that goes into them, you're much less apt to have a misfire. Recurves are practically impossible to hold the pull, which is why most people fire them with a single draw and release motion.

The other major advantage of a compound bow is they are alot quiter than a long bow or recurve, and because of the pully system the bow can be shorter in length and still have the same pull pound for pound. Compound bows also use carbon graphite arrows, which fire straighter and longer than wooden arrows.

I know Hawkeye didn't use a compound bow in the comics, but if he existed in the real world he'd be using a compound bow.

Thanks. Very informative

I don't see how one could enjoy living as Na'vi in Pandora unless one loves nature and being one with everything.

The least amount of bs could possibly occur in Asgard. Sure, betrayals and maybe political disorder, but that's it really.

On Oa, Sinestro, the great leader of the universe, goes yellow on everyone and destroys the Corps. Not what I'd call fun.

We should be thankful the Thor film that was supposed to be directed by Raimi never came to be. It was written by Ron Friedman, the script wasn't too bad but a lot of things needed to be changed, ex. In the script Donald Blake is driven to go to Norway by visions of a construction worker using a jack hammer, and a sex scene with Thor and Jane while they fly through space.

It ended with a bunch of rock trolls and Loki attacking London. Thor and the milliatary took em down.

Kurt Russell was to star as Thor. I had that script for 10 years, glad it never came to be.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. I'm hoping for mostly positive reviews. I'm trying to keep my expectations level, but I think it's real important for Thor and Cap to do well for cross promotion of Avengers. Not to mention that I am really looking forward to the film.

Visually, from the taste we've gotten so far, I am so impressed. They were wise to hide the Asgard scenes, but seeing them now IMO they blow GL out of the water (and I thought GL was very visually appealing).

Regardless, if it comes close to the numbers you're quoting, it's a success.

If the film delivers critically, the audiences will roll in IMO. This isn't always the case, sure, but the GA already knows this will be an action packed spectacle. What they don't know is if it is worthwhile story-wise. If we can get solid performances, epic battles, and quality storytelling intertwined into one juicy summer film, than potential movie-goers will see those qualities through and pay for admission.

Nothing works better for summer audiences than a film with good action and a good story. It worked for Iron Man....

BUT

Hemsworth needs to SELL Thor, like Downey sold Tony Stark. The word of mouth for RDJ's performance as Iron Man was what really killed it.

Being an Iron Man fan for 35 plus years, that's one thing IM's been lacking is a good rogue gallery. The obvious choice is Mandarin, but even he was kinda goofy in the comics, especially his initial portrayal.

While he's been my favorite Marvel character, I'll freely admit, his foes are not as cool as Loki, or Doc Ock, or some of the other Marvel great villians. This is what happens when his first "big" villian he faced in the comics was called "Mr. Doll". I mean serioulsy Stan and Jack, you two are brilliant, but you couldn't come up with something better than "Mr. Doll" who was nothing but a cheap knock off of Puppet Master?

I agree with you though, Loki is going to sell the film. I'm not familiar with Hiddleston's work, but I hope he's the breakout performance in this film.

My perspective, however, is that years from now, this cup and and other Slurpees will be on my dresser, whether it be home or new apartment, and I can reminisce. Reminisce on good memories and times.
heh INDEED! I have two from the 70's that I actually replaced, but now are displayed.
I had this life-size cardboard Spider-Man that was holding a slurpee cup for the longest time. It hung by the ceiling in the stores. I'm not really sure what happened to it.

Hurm...

Hiddleston is really interesting to listen to in these interviews. His discussion of working with the green screen is much more in-depth than you'd really expect from an actor doing this kind of panel.

I love how Branagh refers to Hemsworth and Hiddleston as "the boys." LoL.

I feel Thor is going to do better over seas than it is here.

All these interviews make me wish Kenneth Branagh had a small part or cameo in the movie.

When is her baby due? Don't tell me it's been delayed AGAIN. You'd think we'd at least have an ultra sound by now. Seriously, Natalie clearly just doesn't want to promote this baby. If we don't hear anything about it soon, this baby is doomed.

I wonder if she'll hit the hubby up for a reshoot. :woot:

That would be the ultimate doom apparently.

Your Highness is not appropriate for a 10 year old.... and her child should be watching Thor everyday for the rest of their life!

Making one's child watch Thor every day will give one an over appreciation of hammers. I wouldn't want my daughter to be obsessed with hammers until she's at least halfway through high school.

As opposed to all the recreational drug use and sex they would learn to appreciate from Your Highness?

Thor would teach her an appreciation of awesomeness and winning. Then when she's 18, she can hook up with Charlie Sheen.

It was a joke but touche lol.

Can't wait for the days I show my son(if it's a son lol) all the super hero movies of these decades. Just like mine introduced me to Supes and Bats followed by X-Men being my first theatric one.

Your Highness is not appropriate for a 40 year old.... yeah, it's that bad.

And YES, these heroes can and will beat their cinematic competition. (At least in terms of quality if not box office)

Well I only go on the Thor site to listen to the film score :P

I find generally the official sites have less pictures than the fan sites
