I thought the kid's ears were cute. :)
In this child's case I agree.
But parents allow it if the kids don't need it.
I DON'T agree with it!
What are your opinions of child plastic surgery?

That seems a little extreme. She wasn't even being bullied; the mom was just afraid it might happen eventually. Plus the girl is only 7, so there was time to see how she'd naturally grow into her ears. One of my cousins had absolutely huge ears when he was little, and it's not as noticeable now that he's an adult.

Even with plastic surgery that kids will always find SOMETHING to bully the other kid about.

I think her ears look worse with the surgery. Everyone is going to notice that she got the surgery done, and now they're going to make fun of her even more for having the surgery done. It's like that South Park episode where Token invites all the rich people into town. At the end they told him that they were going to make fun of him more now that he was whining about being teased.
Her ears weren't even that bad. She could have easily just covered them with her hair, or she could say that she's learning jiu-jitsu and that it's a mark of her skills. She's being coddled here. All kinds of kids get made fun of for things, and they should have just told her to deal with the insults. If it went too far that's one thing, but being called "monkey ears" isn't even that bad.
I think that coddling someone to this level makes them worse off because it might cause them to run away from problems instead of dealing with them and facing them head on. If you get beat up or hit by food then it's a problem that needs to be dealt with. If kids are just making fun of you then suck that **** up and see that everyone is being made fun of as well as you. "OMG they are teasing my kid!" Well duh. That happens with everyone. Hell her daughter could have been teasing other kids too.

If you don't want your kids to be teased, give them guns.

I like my name the way it is.
Give the hyphen to someone else.

this is one plastic surgery i agree with. her left ear folds over and her right ear had something funky going on at the top so those 2 abnormalities could have eventually given her functional problems ON TOP of the emotional/social problems she would and did already have. it was free, and it wasn't as if she wanted her nose reduced just because she didn't think it was cute enough. her ears were an obvious problem.
that being said, i don't think kids should get plastic surgery for shallow reasons...but this one i feel was going to give her physical problems later on.

She actually had a physical defect so it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

And then she'll just pass it on to a new generation. If she was killed and eaten by a smilodon before breeding age, no one would have to worry.

Unless you're a total freak, plastic surgery is ridiculous for all ages.
