I think the whole "4th Reich" urban myth's would fit perfectly into the cinematic marvel universe, with Red Skull as the new leader after Hitler bites the bullet. And either of these locales would be a great place for Red Skull to lay low while the medical science is invented to keep him alive so long. How in your face and awesome of a twist would it be if the only thing around that cap can still relate with are the Nazis? This could also lead into an awesome Ultimate Liberators(or whatever they were called, ultimates 2 vol. 2) like storyline with Nazi "super heroes", which may or may not be similar to the Avengers.

A moon base? How would Nazis circa 1945 launch a rocket to the moon and keep it supplied and self-sustainable, without coming off incredibly corny?
I don't know if they're planning on keeping Skull alive past the movie, but either way I'm sure that Hydra will at least be hinted at surviving the war.

Well for one they seem to have the cosmic cube. =P And according to the Urban Myth (which i of course know is fiction) they went to the Arctic (or Antarctica) first, built up, then in the late fifties or something went to the dark side of the moon, this is all easy to find on the web. I understand this could be corny, which is why I said and/or. An arctic base alone could serve the purpose.
It would be an utter waste to get rid of Red Skull so soon. He's Cap's arch nemesis.

Well they killed off the joker in the first Batman movie back in 89.

And we all know how pathetically that pattered on. They were all garbage, even Returns was horrible.

... it would be interesting to have an Antarctic base.. the Skull want to find the Savage Land to use the untapped oil reserves and harness the power of dinosaurs..

Marvel was researching the possibility of a Kazar movie, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see the savage land soon.

The escaped Hydra acolytes are probably living in the South American jungles somewhere.. that's an angle to exploit..

So what you really want is a mix of Iron Sky and The Boys from Brazil?
