Looks like this sport is still going, they're live-streaming games on YouTube. This is actually pretty interesting to watch, very good production so props to these guys for trying to put out a quality product :up:

The Night Owls (who I guess are the league "mainstays" in terms of performance :huh:) get absolutely CREAMED in this game though.

I went to many Arena Football games when we had a local team. It was very fun in person.

I've noticed since I've been watching the games on YouTube that the field is different. Apparently they've changed the rules a little bit, making it a bit simpler and easier to follow.

The biggest thing I see is that on the field, the "flex zone" is gone, which I personally like. So the new scoring arrangement is simpler:

Goal Zone- 1 pt.

Wedge/Cross- 2 pts.

Prime Ring- 4 pts.

And all these are doubled if the ball goes through one of the crown rings instead of into the chamber.

Penalty shots are taken from the Prime Ring and worth 3 pts. in the chamber, 6 in a crown ring.

Also, it used to be something like a 70 yard field. What? :huh: Waayy too big in my opinion, the 50 yard field makes a LOT more sense to me. But it ticks me off something terrible when people go "4 goals? That's stupid! I don't get it!" :doh:

The gameplay is basically modeled on half-court basketball. Whoever has the ball is on offense, but if the defense gets the ball they have to bring it back to the take-back line. At that point you can go for the basket. In Kronum, however, you can take your pick of which goal to go after. It's actually REALLY simple to follow.

Also, it's interesting to note that the whole "chamber/crown rings" arrangement is similar to Gaelic Football or Hurling. They're two Irish sports that have both a soccer-like goal and a rugby-like field goal, and points vary depending on where you put the ball in. Just something I noticed.

Maybe it's just me :hehe: but I personally think this thing has enough versatility as a sport to carve out its own niche. People just need to stop being so jaded and allow it to grow.
