That poster looks more like the Planeteers are from different planets rather than different countries... and... I think I'd be alright with that.
As for Captain Planet? I'd have Daniel Cudmore for motion capture, and use James Marsden for the voice.

This movie if it actually does move forward is gonna be a mixture of...power rangers/the last airbender and the inconvenient truth. If you don't want you audience to bust out laughing from seeing it the first some things have to be changed.

I'm down with it. Later in life I realized that watching Captain Planet kind of set the stage for my sympathy with the Earth Liberation Front, Animal Liberation Front, Sea Shepard etc as I got older.

CPs most sinister foe has to be Verminous Skumm voiced by Jeff Goldblum.

Jeff Goldblum could even be considered to play Skumm as he does indeed look a bit like a rat. Sorry Jeff no offence!.

I don't think all villains have to be in the film so Skumm or Sly Sludge for me.

I was shocked to find out that Looten Plunder was voiced by the late James Coburn. Did not think an actor of his status would do that type of work, then again one of his last films was Snow Dogs.

I know it would be hard to pull off but I'm surprised we've never heard of one even being attempted before. All the preaching and campiness would have to go, just treat it seriously with intelligent/possible explanations and keep the fun pg-13 tone...

- I'd explain Gaia as the last remaining Atlantean, possibly even of alien origin. Obviously her island would then be Atlantis.
- Her race dissapeared a long time ago but with the recent destruction of forests and whatnot, she is slowly waking from her sleep.
- She selects 5 teens to hold the 5 elemental rings which the Atlanteans created and trusted to those who were worthy, to protect the earth.
- And rather than have CP 'form' like inthe cartoon with the rings shooting the energy, I'd like to see the actual elements come out of the ring, like fire for example, and change and form the parts of his body then come together.. something like that could be visually cool.

I don't really know how the villain would be done.. Personally I'd go with Duke Nukem so that there would be a physical danger and a physical confrontation for Captain to deal with.... otherwise it would be like superman with him putting out fires and catching planes. You could team Nukem with someone like Looten Plunder.

Take the recent events in Japan as inspiration and have the earthquake happen (not necessarily in Japan) which causes mishaps in a nuclear power plant, drawing the Planeteers there to try to help out (which gains them media coverage as heroes). Looten Plunder could be drawn there to take advantage of the lapse in security to steal, putting him in conflict with the planeteers. One of Plunders men could then be in the power station when an aftershock occurs causing a radiation leak. He's presumbed dead. Then, if a bit of filler was needed, the planeteers could then be brought into conflict with, say, sly sludge, as the leader of a logging company or something. Then the man who was presumbed dead could come back near the end as Duke Nukem, resulting in the planeteers needing the help of Captain Planet.

Or you could even go with Zarm and just give him some sort of strength or powers so he can rival Captain Planet. He could be one of the Atlantean scientists who help to create the rings but siphoned some of their power and enhance himself and try to take over. The Atlanteans managed to stop him and buried him in a special chamber. With earth safe again, the Atlanteans slowly died out, leaving Gaia to sleep until the time the power is needed. Earthquakes or deep drilling could release Zarm from his prison and thus, Gaia awakens and searches for 5 people to form the Planeteers.

I've seen redesigns of CP that have him bald and almost Silver Surfer looking which looks good but I love this design below. I know it's how he was suppose to be anyway but I like how you can really tell he is made from the elements. I'd just add a water effect around his joints and stuff to connect his 'rock core' apendages.

It would be better to make Captain Planet more like a spirit being than solid and flying around. If he is rebooted to the big screen a little pollution better not cause him pain or to nearly die though.

People WILL already see it as 'tree-hugging hippy crap' by sheer name recognition alone regardless of content. Moreover, an environmentalist message needs to be fairly subtle in order to not sound condescending. Meanwhile, with a name like and premise like Captain Planet, it's impossible to be subtle. As such, the message should be front and centre BUT with a setting that is pure ham and cheese so as not to be taken completely seriously.

I like how when the "Wind" section comes up, Linka's doing more or less nothing.

I haven't found very many good concept redesigns for the character online. I'd say shoot for something that gives more of a "nod" to his classic cartoon look, but an entirely new concept. I'd give him the ice blue body (green hair optional), green eyes, and within his form, somewhat similar to what Green Lantern's suit and Dr. Manhattan had going on, I'd have glowing reddish "veins" that culminated in his chest, hands and feet so it gave the slight appearance of red areas there, but not so much in terms of an actual color-coded costume, gloves or boots. Give him a more organic look in general. The "zigzag" look and the "insignia" cold be textre/parts of his quasi-crystalline structure. Make him look like a being of pure power...since he is.

I'd give him the ice blue body (green hair optional), green eyes, and within his form, somewhat similar to what Green Lantern's suit and Dr. Manhattan had going on, I'd have glowing reddish "veins" that culminated in his chest, hands and feet so it gave the slight appearance of red areas there, but not so much in terms of an actual color-coded costume, gloves or boots. Give him a more organic look in general. The "zigzag" look and the "insignia" cold be textre/parts of his quasi-crystalline structure. Make him look like a being of pure power...since he is.

That's pretty much exactly what I want (with a bigger budget)

Not really. Bush's administration were the ones who came up with climate change and I think Bush got on the whole green/climate change movement toward the end of his presidency anyway.

I'm kinda on the fence with this one. I was a teenager when the cartoon came out, so I didn't really watch it. I caught a few episodes with my nephew, not much more than a toddler in those days, who seemed to love it. Personally? I found it cheesey as Hell.

Personally, I think a live action adaptation could be successful, if done right. I would make the main villain, at least the "soldier villain", in the movie Duke Nukem, as he's the only villain who can match up to Captain Planet on a physical level. For the "smart villain", I'd go with either Lootin Plunder or Hogg Greedly.

I wouldn't use Dr. Blight at all, as she was the most nonsensical villain of them all. Plunder & Greedly's eco-crimes at least made sense. They cut corners while drilling for oil or illegally dumped toxic waste for profit. Dr. Blight polluted the Earth just for the sake of polluting the Earth. She just wants to destroy the planet, even if it kills her. That's just dumb.

If they do use Dr. Blight, then they should give her a more well rounded character. Maybe she used to be environmentally concious. But an industrial accident during a "green" industrial waste removal procedure disfigured half of her face. The fact that "doing the right thing" had cost her her beauty drives her mad, and now she wants to see the world burn. Then her wanting to destroy the world with pollution at least makes sense.

I still say it could be a fun family/kids film as straight up adaption to the show. Plus with some many comapnies/network going green/eco friendly/driven these days. I am surprised it hasn't been made into a film yet.

I like how when the "Wind" section comes up, Linka's doing more or less nothing.

I haven't found very many good concept redesigns for the character online. I'd say shoot for something that gives more of a "nod" to his classic cartoon look, but an entirely new concept. Aside from Captain Planet looking like a cheap Cos-player at Dragon Con, this trailer is actually not bad. I used to watch this cartoon every sunday night on TBS when I was in the 7th grade. But I prefer my Pollution fighting heroes to be hideously deformed creatures of super human size and strength like the Toxic Avenger and his Toxic Crusaders. Now thats the movie I want to see !!!
