I guess they put some silver on IM to make him look more shiny and modern. Even if the suit is different in design than the Mark VI, it wont be that noticeable if they re both just red and gold. But, the silver parts make a big difference, even if the suits end up being practically identical.

I'm not defending them, i dont even think i like them, just trying to figure out the reason they re there.

There will be some differences but I wouldn't think it anything too radical. Depends a lot on what the artist was basing the work on: Stills of the actors in costume (or CGI renders for Hulk and IM) or concept art of them all in costume.

Even though it looks like Hawkeye is largely based on the early Ultimate version that I wasn't too fond off, they've managed to make it look cool here. I guess it may have a lot to do with art direction, which I thought was awful in the Ultimates comic in general.

Cap looks pretty cool. Bit more of a change from TFA than I thought they would go with, but that's pretty well done.

Black Widow and Iron Man still look much like they did before, but with a couple of small changes. I was kinda hoping that Iron Man would have had a more drastic change in Avengers. I mean the various designs have largely been the same apart from the prototype built in the cave.

I think they are basically thinking with IM "If it aint broke, don't fix it". They nailed all the right elements of the suit first time round so no need to make drastic alterations that might not go down as well. Same applies with Thor. Suit was perfect for him so no drastic changes needed there either (looks like they may have embellished the pants a little with some seam lines or something but that's it)

Black Widow's additions to here suit look pretty cool...reminds me more of a shield agent with the white or metallic accents! I cant tell which. But It definitely is an improvement over her outfit in IM2...which I still liked because Scarlett Johannsen looks good in anything.

I see your point. Though I think there was a little in-built expectation from the previous Iron Man films that he would change armour every or most films, but that's not necessarily the best thing if it means a bad design. Guess I was just hoping for a bit too much there.

I do kind of agree that Iron Man just makes me *headtilt*. I don't hate it or anything, but the details puzzle me, as does the circular arc reactor. I look forward to getting an explanation for that one.

Also, not a complaint either, but: Thor's tunic, breastplate, whatever you call his top... the design is different from the one he wears in his movie. Just slightly. I had a hard time chasing down a good picture of it that's lit so you can see the details, but the Hot Toys 1/6 scale figure has an accurate repro of it:

The overall effect is that it doesn't look different at first glance. You have to really stare at it. As I say, not a bad thing. Makes me wonder why this depiction is different. The Thor toys have also been more or less faithful to the movie's costume, and none have departed from its details as much as this picture does. So it can't just be a case of "this is just for toys, so who cares".

If I'm right and it's a design update, then that's an interesting decision on their part.

1. Steve/CA meets Black Widow and Hawkeye first.
2. Steve is acquainted with Tony Stark/Iron Man.
3. The Four Avengers travel and locate Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
4. The 5 Members of the Avengers are then introduced to a returning Thor later in the film.

Iron Man, Black Widow and Hulk's costumes are too. Hawkeye is a literal translation of the Ultimate look. Really only Thor is a significant deviation from his comic look(s) and I think his movie look is pretty fantastic.

He might have hearing problems from all the explosions he's been around and can't have his ears obstructed in the least.

But yes, these movies wouldn't be fun if the bad guys just shot our heroes in the face. Like when Obadiah paralyzed Tony he could of easily slit his throat or shot him, Thor getting shot dead by Hawkeye while he was still humanly vulnerable, and a sneak attack on Banner would yield the same result.
