Anyone remembered the scene in Spider-man:The Other where
there was destroyed building and Spidey was looking for the little girl before the building was destroyed completly and used his webbing to feel the vibrations and saved little Jenny well that scene described sounds exactly like that and wonder how awesome that scene would like in real life

here's a wikipedia info if it helps make your choice. It had some good symbolic scenes though(Peter ready to die in the same place Spider-man was Born-ESU, Peter accepting the spider, etc)and the art was alright

This was actually one of my parts of that story, though that book is as others said the story is on and off all the time, to me it doesn't make you want to carry on reading it (hard to put the book down) like some other spidey stories. Symbolic scenes are great tho.
Anyway it would be cool if they were basing the scene off this and Spidey has to find a little kid in the sewers and save him/her from the Lizard. If he's jsut using it to find the Lizard it would be cool too

Totally agree....glad to hear they are incorporating actual natural instincts of a spider to his repertorie of talents. It also shows his intelligence use of his abilities to their fullest... as well as something new.

For wolverine only not spidey. But sometimes he portrayed that way in the comics.

I doubt we'll ever get a HUGE Spidey, thankfully. Though, over the years, he wasn't massively big or anything in the mainstream comics. There were times when he was very muscular though.

I think the biggest Spidey should ever be is around the size of Mcfarlanes Spider-Man.

I was never a fan of a large Spider-Man. To begin with, it makes it easier to believe that he can hide his identity. He looks unassuming. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent...they are built and huge. Wearing suits doesn't really hide it. You may not guess their heroic persona, but it is obvious that these guys are underplaying their physicality. On the other hand, Peter looks really average when he is wearing clothes.
The other thing I enjoy about Spider-Man being having such a small stature, is the fact that it makes it that much more impressive when he defeats a foe. Most of his villains are huge, not just in height, but in muscle mass. You really get a sense that Spider-Man has achieved something when he defeats a huge foe.

Agreed, i also like the realistic of spidey costume that was sometimes shown in the comics. Spidey costume is skintight but not tight that it shows every muscle definition on spidey body. Some of the artists have done a good job with this. Even in the movies. I don't mind the printed muscle def. Like on the previous trilogy suit. But the comics i feel sometimes over exaggerated. But eh they did the same for batman or superman too. Well in their comics.

The thing is......Tobey was in great shape for Spider-Man 1, but I don't think it was the kind of shape Spidey should be in. They worked out Tobey to have more of a bodybuilder physique when Spidey should have more of an athletic physique. I think Andrew has that.
Spider-ManHero12
06-18-2011, 12:25 PM
Personally, I always thought Tobey's/Spider-Man's built in Raimi's films perfectly showed what Romita Sr.'s/Ditko's Spider-Man's built was like. Awesome, IMO.

Bruce Wayne being in great physical shape makes sense because his persona is rich, arrogant, self centered, and basically has all day to work on being in fantastic shape. Clark Kent...yeah...it is hard to defend a huge musclebound news reporter whos only disguise is really a pair of glasses and tries to come off as a dork.
I think one of the main reasons Garfield was cast was because of his body type so I didn't expect him to bulk up too much at all.

It's also a reflection of how (for example) Batman and Spider-Man move or fight.
Batman is more of a brawler and his technique is based more on martial arts. So the muscle mass (which also serves to intimidate) is warranted. Spidey is a lot more fluid and swings and twirls like gymnastics.
So Bruce is more bodybuilder physique and Peter is more athletic physique.

Ryan Kwanten from True Blood has that sometimes. And that dude is RIPPED. It depends on people's bone/facial structure and if you're pulling your head back into your neck.
Was Tobey out of shape for Spider-Man 3? He wasn't fat by any means, but he wasn't in the shape he was for the first film, no doubt.

I think Spider-Man has been quite thin/lean in every bit of media that has invovled him. In the comics, yeah, he was big sometimes, but almost all of the time he was drawn thin/lean.

Spider-Man has generally been slender and athletic since the 70s and 80s. He was initially pretty bulked up in the earlier issues of The Amazing Spider-Man which I never really understood. You mean, he's 6'2-6'3 225 pounds of largely muscle and yet he gets picked on? Don't really buy into that.
I've always been a fan of the Peter who is thin yet muscular and smooth and suave while still being pretty nerdy.

Wow...talk about confusion and serious derailment. Oh well, mistakes happen. So...bringing it back to Spidey...
Remember how many Spider-Man games there were in the 90s? Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin on Sega Genesis. Maximum Carnage on SNES and Genesis. That horrible Spider-Man arcade game made by SEGA, where every enemy was a black man or a ninja. Though Maximum Carnage was my favorite old 90s Spidey game, the one I remember most is X-Men/Spider-Man: Arcade's Revenge. Tim and Geoff Follin composed the soundtrack for it (the SNES version that is). Their work was exceptional. It still amazes me that they mustered such realistic instrumentation from a low-fi synth soundfont.
Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge Title Theme
J2wanOhDq4o
Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge: Spider-Man's Theme
53ScxffDksk
That last one is what I tend to think of most, when I think of Spider-Man. It is the theme that defines Spidey for me, more so than the old 60s theme, more so than the 90s theme that I grew up with from the old Fox cartoon. To this day, I read Spidey comics while listening to that song.
With that said, I hope whatever movie tie in game that they come up with for this film, is well worth it. I have heard good things about Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, but I have never been able to find it for a fair price on PC (people want $75 for it on Amazon). Therefore, the last solid Spider-Man game I have played is Ultimate Spider-Man (which I acquired for my PC for $2 from a local closing of an F.Y.E.). It was a boon to replay that game, but something new would be great. Spider-Man was was too much of the same. There needs to be a passing of the torch from Spider-Man 2: The Movie Game. Warner Bros. really raised the bar with Batman Arkham Asylum. I can't get my Spidey fix from old games like Ultimate or Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

$75 WTF? Are there no game shops where you live? lol
Yep, it's pretty amazing. It's like they were attempting to make their own White Album.

$75 WTF? Are there no game shops where you live? lol
Though I have owned every console up till this generation, I have primarily been a PC gamer. I could buy an Xbox 360 and buy a copy of the game for $30 from Gamestop, but I would much rather buy the PC version. And yes, it was seriously $75 for a brand new copy for the PC, even though the game isn't even a year old. It is highway robbery.
_________
UPDATE: Well, looks like there is a price drop. I can now buy the game for $54.73 brand new from a third party vendor on Amazon. Or I can buy it for $54.71 used, as fulfilled by Amazon. Still highway robbery. These people will be sitting on copies of that game for a long time. I hate when people try and pull a fast one on people because of "demand." That kind of hording and price gouging is what caused the fall of the comic market. Why does it continue in other realms of "collecting"?

Spidey's Capcom theme is the second piece of music that reminds me of Spidey. I don't care for the salsa version that appears in MvC3, but I love the old Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom versions. I played the hell out of Marvel Super Heroes. If I wasn't Captain America, dealing out jingoistic justice, I was definitely Spidey, rushing down with a jumping jab > strong >st. jab > st. strong > jumping jab> short > strong> forward >Web Swing!
The good old days. I feel like those first few games really captured Spidey's sarcasm, agility and acrobatic nature. I always get that sense of, "he's arrived!" when I hear his Capcom theme.

Why? I don't get your logic. Ultimate Spider-Man was made for literally the same reason and is actually more successful than the normal Amazing Spider-Man run, so of course Marvel would try and build on the success of a modern Spider-Man set by USM. Not everyone is going to be pleased.
Believe it or not, we're gonna see A LOT more USM influence than ASM influence within the coming years. Hell, look at the new movie. It's taking a lot of inspiration from USM, just simply taking the title of The Amazing Spider-Man because that's the most well known name. The new show? Ultimate Spider-Man.
I know you don't like USM. (I'm assuming because it's not ASM) But you seem to have this mentality that anything comic based should be based on the original run and dedicated to the hardcore fans. Which is obviously not true, just look at Nolan's Batman. It's based mostly on graphic novels and are the best in comic book films. Hell, Nolan said he made the movies for himself, not fans. Marvel is obviously gonna try and duplicate that success, so you better release your lips from ASM's butt and find a safe middle ground before your world gets rocked, lol.

Marvel is obviously gonna try and duplicate that success, so you better release your lips from ASM's butt and find a safe middle ground before your world gets rocked, lol. Wait a second, I've never expressed that anything not ASM is bad. I loved Spider-Man: Noire, which is a different take on what Spider-Man would be in the 30's. And I've stated my main problems with USM are the Villains. There are things in USM that I actually think are awesome, but alot of the Villains have been watered down.
I never said it has to be the original run at all, man. I've stated it should take a good chunk of it from the 616 universe and some things from USM. S-M3 obviously took the younger version of Brock approach from USM and same for TSSM. I didn't mind that at all.
The only reason we're getting the USM show is because TSSM was in the wrong place at the wrong time and almost everybody does agree that it is the best Spider-Man show ever. USm is not just a "hey, I have an idea for an awesome show" idea. It's a replacement show (sadly) and tbh, I hope it's fantastic. The USM show could be awesome for all we know. J.K. SImmons is back, Topher Grace may be back, etc. However, it was unnecessary what happened to TSSM.
Also, we know next to nothing of the new film, man. Let's face it, all we have gotten that is official are 2 photos and a pretty much empty website. I'll admit, some of the set photos (such as a younger Aunt May) seem to suggest they are taking some things from USM, but that is fine by me. I just don't want the whole film to be based on that run, which I doubt it will be. Gwen would have looked like a punk rocker, lol.
As for Nolan's film being based on graphic novels? Yeah, you're right about that, but those are stand alone graphic novels that is not a different universe (or am I wrong?). In continuity? no, but not a different universe. Ultimate is described as being a different universe all togeather while those Batman graphic novels are still based in the same universe.
And if I hated Ultimate, then why do I like 2099 Spidey or Spider-Man Noire?
As for the MTV show. That show changed things past the point of being okay with it. USM changed things, but was at least still faithful to who the character was. It was a dissapointing show that I'm kind of glad didn't make it. I mean, Neil Patrick Harris did an awesome job, but still.
overall, my point is that USM was indeed a good book back in the early to mid 2000's and is sitll very enjyoable in most ways today. However, the Villains were treated poorly such as Shocker. I gave up in 2006 even though Spider-Man's 616 universe was a jumbled mess. ASM is where it's at these days (IMO) and the book hasn't been this good since The Book of Ezekiel story. And sales from this past May are really good. ASM is in the top 7 best selling comic of the May, if I remember correctly.
Like i said, I have no problem with the modernizing thing that USM did. It's just the Villains and a few other things that ruined it for me.
to put it into very simple words. USM became a little too "slick" for it's own good and while it was awesome when it started (and some things are still really good today), it's gotten stale, IMO. Modernizing is fine, but there's a point where you have to say "okay, this is pushing it too far."
Just wanted to clear things up, lol. :yay:

I never thought about that..very good points...I think both USM and ASM have their faults lately but USM seems to be getting on track now..hopefully Pete's death is only metaphorical. I like Slott writing on ASM but I still feel like ASM is crippled because its impossible to invest in his relationships with women. They don't want him to get married so you know every relationship will end. His life outside of Spider-Man seems much better written and more believable in USM.
They're definitely going to be going more with what USM has done because it is the more modern thing, which makes complete business sense to me. Everyone is always trying to modernize their franchises and Bendis actually succeeded so it stands to reason that Marvel will follow his lead in as many Spider-Man incarnations as possible

I think people are sort of confused on my views of USM. The modernization is fine, IMO. I'm just worried about them using things like hulk goblin instead of the usual Norman Osborn in a costume. Hulk Goblin makes Green Goblin less interesting, IMO. The fact that Norman becomes somebody completley different when in the costume is fantastic.

Spider-Man did NOT become popular because he was modernized. He was popular long before USm and he was growing older over time. So why are people saying that USM has kept him popular? Sorry, but ASM is back in the spotlight in most people's minds and rightfully so. Even though Peter is dating and not married, the book has been VERY enjoyable. Much more than USM.
There's a reason The Amazing Spider-Man title has lasted almost 50 years.

I don't think you have anything to worry about their..they may take some of the modern ideas but studios know what version of those things work with fans and which version is iconic. Green Goblin is iconic in the Amazing form and you need iconography to sell a film. With that said, is there a good way to bring the Goblin's look to film without it looking very corny? I know the look they gave him in the first movie isn't widely accepted so is it possible they can get one that is?

There are many things that made the MTV show interesting it had a lot of cool stuff, however it went too far with the dark tone and it really strayed far from the comics in story and in feel that it really didn't feel like Spider-Man. Also the villains were terrible.
I'm fine with some things being re-imagined here and there but it must be done right. TSSM was a great show because it did precisely that, it re-imagined things here, changed stuff there, mixed some ultimate with the 616 and modernized it, while at the same time keeping that classic Spider-Man charm.

I agree..I think that opinion comes from the fact that USM used to outsell ASM and for a time, was the more popular book..neither one of them are doing so hot right now though..I think the movies have done a better job at keeping him popular more than comics because comics just aren't bringing in the money they used to. I do disagree that ASM has been more enjoyable than USM lately, but that's a different argument.

Very good point about TSSM, Ultra Ham. That's one of the MANY reasons I love the show so much.
Also, to add to my Aunt May being younger comment. Back in JMS/JRJR era, JMS made Aunt May stronger and have a tough atittude. Especially after she found out Peter was Spider-Man, and that's part of the 616 universe.

There's a reason the Death of SPider-Man story in USM isn't as talked about on here as much as ASM currently. Now, if Spidey was dieing in the 616 universe? Would have been even bigger. Thankfully, it's not happening.

But is it well in comparison to previous sales or ASM sales overall? I don't think its doing as well as it was when JMS was writing, is it?
Well, I think the reason it's not being as talked about as much as is because there isn't as much interest in USM as their used to be due to Ultimatum and the Ultimate universe just being a cluster cuss. Two, times are hard, man. If you buy comics, I would think most people would invest in the major universe since comics are getting to be so ridiculous in cost. Plus, there will always be a bigger interest in ASM because of the legacy, regardless of the quality at the time. People will always want to know whats going on

I'll have to look into that because quite frankly, I forgot how much the books sold when JMS was on the book. What I do know now though is that ASM sold VERY well in May thanks to Dan Slott. Issues 655-659 were remarkable and have all gotten second printings. I suggest you check out 655.

In Spider-Man The Animated Series (the MTV one)... the episode with The Lizard was kinda terrifying to me (when I was a kid! :P) especially the part where Peter's being interviewed and The Lizard just kinda shows up out of no-where, like in Jeepers Creepers!... imagine something like that in The Amazing Spider-Man.
Oh man that'd be SO cool.

Well when that FX guy dished out the first batch of rumors: http://bit.ly/j9opc9 I asked my guys at Sony. First, they confirmed that guy is not working on the project (which is strange ppl thought he was in the first place); second, they said they are trying to push it out as soon as possible. Marvel has the first option to run the trailer (hence, Cap) so if it airs this summer that's more than likely with what.

Arach Knight, not just face...and body shape too. I really love that Spidey in this show had really crazy agile and speed.
Finally, someone that agrees with me on that point. There is a fight in the episode, "Sword of Shakita," that I feel epitomizes Spidey's fighting style. They may not have gotten many things right with this series, but it is clear that the directors have a clear understanding of how Spider-Man moves. Fluid, agile and acrobatic.
Am I the only one who actually liked the MTV show? :oldrazz:
Nope. I am a fan. I am glad that it is freely available on Youtube (via Crackle) and Hulu. It is not the best Spider-Man show, but it is far from being the worst. I don't care for the representations of Harry or MJ, but I am a fan of Indy Daimonji. It is like watching Ultimate Spider-Man, except starting from college rather than high school.

Hi, nice to meet you. I'm actually not a kid, I'm the Editor in Chief of this place: http://www.dailyblam.com but even if I was there's no need to be an ass if all you wanted was clarification.
Question: why don't you guys just simply ASK people to confirm stuff random guys on twitter talk about? I think it's a lot easier than just... guessing. Just my opinion, I'm only a kid after all.

They will no doubt have something very sweet up their sleeve for the con... most likely a carefully selected montage of footage. An extended trailer thingy, if you will. The idea is to show the fans (lucky enough to attend) the tone and feel of the new franchise. What we'll see as a teaser trailer is more then likely a shortened version of the stuff they'll see at the con. The teaser trailer will no doubt coincide with a teaser poster as well.
But right Poni Boy is. Comic-Con is where this thing is gonna go down, in a major way! It'll get people talking for sure. And all news about it will be heading our way soon enough. Can't wait!

No, I'm not butthurt about Random Guy #14's comment; just trying to bring a bit of civility to the conversation.
I saw on his imdb page that's he says he's world renown as a VFX artist. But I can't find anywhere else where it list any award or award winning projects he's worked on; can you please point me to the sites that reference how acclaimed he is? I don't want to be misinformed.
Yes, it's good to be skeptical; but it's only fair to be skeptical from every angle. If you chose to believe what every random person told you just because it fit the agenda you want, you're in for disappointment.
I never said it was Marvel's decision, I said they have first option to air the trailer. Meaning before it's offered to another studio to spotlight their film's release Marvel has to accept/pass on it. The only film left for Marvel this year is Cap; which only means it will air with Cap if they jump on it first. If they pass, it could go to anyone.
When I asked Sony about the TF3 rumor they said 'no.' I asked several other journalists that I work with from time to time to look into it, they came back with the same response.
Sony is planning a huge presence at SDCC (which is only a month away). I really don't think -- only my opinion, nothing that I've heard -- they will take any wind out of their sails by releasing stuff online/in theaters before then.

I already said that I'm not sure about it either way. So I am skeptical from every angle.
I didn't mean to come off as abrasive, it's just weird when a fairly new poster claims to have access to studios. I believe you to a certain degree, but also believe Patil to a certain degree as well. TF3 and CA are the two most obvious choices to attach the trailer to. TF3 is going to be a huge blockbuster and it will be in 3D and will give TASM to display some of its 3D qualities. CA is, like you said, a Marvel film and it'd make sense for them to release it with that as well.
I'm not by any means saying you're wrong, I was just wondering why we should believe you and I got my answer. We'll find out for sure on June 29th or July 22 respectively.

We all wish for a teaser beeing attached to TF3... The problem being it was never really confirmed. Rule nr.1 - NEVER rely on unconfirmed news! (why do you think it was never a headliner here at the hype, to begin with?) Confirmations from the studios behind the movies them selves, and then I'll buy it.

I'm putting my money on the teaser being with Cap-A (being July 22'nd)... There's really absolutely no need for the studio to rush a teaser trailer out there. And I'm sure they'll be wanting to make quite a splash with this thing, so they're propably working on it quite a bit.

I'm putting my money on the teaser being with Cap-A (being July 22'nd)... There's really absolutely no need for the studio to rush a teaser trailer out there. And I'm sure they'll be wanting to make quite a splash with this thing, so they're propably working on it quite a bit.
I don't see how a late June teaser is rushing. We are more than likely getting a Dark Knight Rises teaser with Potter next month and Spidey comes out sooner.

Well, it just makes more sense to release it with TF3 because they're both shot in 3D, and it would give people a glimpse of what TAS's 3D will look like.

How could a Spidey teaser be rushing when they started filming in December...ended about a month ago...and had a teaser in the works weeks ago?
If anything, a TDKR teaser would be rushed because production started a little more than a month ago! And there is a good chance a teaser will be with Harry Potter!

It's not rushing at all. Sony seems to WANT to get it out as quickly as possible, as long as it's the product they are happy with. Let's not forget, a first trailer (not teaser, that doesn't really contain film footage) has a lasting impression on movie goers (i.e. Green Lantern). And it doesn't really matter which blockbuster film it's attached to, most are screened in 3D anyway. Trust me, they want it out there, it's just a matter of guaranteeing the quality as much as possible. Cap is a safe bet, TF3 could happen too. But there is no set date that they are trying to hit.
Personally, I'd rather they release it when they are ready than release it just because fans want to see it yesterday.
EDIT: As for TDKR, you gotta remember that HP7 Part 2 is Warner Bros last big movie till TDKR hits theaters next summer. What else are they going to put it with?

What if Sony wants to keep the trailer as a total surprise, could be a reason why they would denie it

aww so no trailer with TF3? I suppose there still could be a chance that it does, but I was skeptical of this anyway as Poni-Boy has a point, it's most likely gonna hit huge at SDCC, so I don't see why they would take that thunder away by releasing a trailer earlier.
Does Captain America comes out after or just before Comic Con? (July 29th over here)
As that would be the biggest best is Marvel would want to attach it to their film, though releasing with TF3 i think more people will be more likely to see the trailer but oh well.

It's ridiculous how many people have come to this forum or posted in other social networks that they knew everything about the trailer coming out this season just for the sake of winning fans' attention and be specially treated, even though, as I believe, these guys are in their 20s-20s and, instead of working on their careers and paying more attention to the outside world, they come online and claim to know when the teaser of another movie about Spider-man is going to come out. Just as anybody else here, I can't wait for the movie, for the first teaser, for even just one scene from it. But, I rather not listen to anybody, who was "on screening tests", "working for Sony" and "knowing people who work for Sony". All this is stupid. Just ask yourself a question, why the hell would any of these real people come to the boards and claim to have seen or heard about the trailer. If I worked for Sony, I would care much less and concentrate on my work, especially in these days of the global recession. So, I am not going to listen to anybody until SOny confirms it and the same I recommend you guys to do. It doe seem like the teaser is not going to come with TF3. Hell, we aren't even sure whetehr it's coming out this summer or not!

Actually Cap is set for domestic release on the Friday of Comic Con, which will undoubtedly cause quite a stir for the people attending lol
Last I had heard Marvel wanted to take over the place with a S.H.I.E.L.D.-centric theme but it doesn't look like the Con ppl will allow it.
^^ Yeah, I had heard about that. What's with all this hacking lately?
Sony is learning the hard way not to piss off hackers, then try to sweep it under the rug. Worst part (for me) of all that mess is that not once has Sony apologized to it's consumers; kinda sets the tone for loyalty.
And I'm sorry if I caused a stir with this info, didn't mean to piss anyone off. It could very well appear with TF3 and my sources could be wrong; just sharing what I know.
