It makes total sense.
DOTM will be a giant 3D release.
TAS was filmed in 3D. Sony wants to show it off with a giant of an audience as possible.
DOTM is the perfect opportunity.

Well if the trailer is attached, it better be with the IMAX version also, since IMAX films are notorious for not having trailers, at least nearly all of the films I've seen in IMAX anyway.

It seems very logic, TF3 is the biggest 3D release of 2011 so obviously they wanna show of the "Amazing" 3D in the trailer.
And let the GA know they're doing a reboot.
Can't wait! :D

Spider-Man is a worldwide icon, and sony proved that when they marketed S-M3. We got a trailer pretty much exactly the same time as when we will be getting this one.

"Gunga Diner, you have two options: either pay to see Transformers 3 in theaters, or your mother dies."
"Sorry, Mom."
Why must you put me in this position, Sony? I'm not touching that movie with a 10-foot pole. This is not negotiable. So why torture me for it by tossing in the new 3D Spidey teaser? Not fair.

Yeah exactly, I didn't go in expecting an Oscar worthy movie, it was fun, loud and full of explosions, exactly what a movie with transforming robots should be.
But with that being said, certain characters, and the story could have been improved upon BUUUT, can't be bothered getting in to that.lol

I hate the "it's not supposed to be good" argument. This quote from outlawvern.com sums up my feelings pretty well:
I think you all know where I stand on TRANSFORMERS PART 1. I took some flack because I hated the f**king thing but apparently it was agreed on that we were gonna let that one slide. I guess I took it a little personally because I love these types of movies when they’re done well, so it really chapped my hide to hear everybody parroting and accepting that cliche about it’s just a summer movie, it’s supposed to be dumb and incomprehensible, what did you expect, Hamlet? only a dijon mustard loving elitist snob would not get a huge boner just from watching a blurry robot punch (hug?) another robot (building?) in 1 second shots while a camera rotates around it really fast so **** you you hate America why did you call me stupid by saying you don’t like it you are a ****** it’s not supposed to win oscars.
You know me, I can enjoy stupid movies, even bad movies. I f**king wrote SEAGALOGY, man, of course I understand appreciating different types of movies for what they are, warts and all. All I’m saying is have the courage of your convictions. If you like it, tell me why you like it. Don’t just give me a list of the standards it’s not supposed to live up to. You’re selling movies short. Don’t tell me that a movie about this can’t also be good. And especially don’t tell me that this counts as good action scenes. That’s crossing a line, pal. That’s like pissing on Abraham Lincoln’s grave.
It’s a fight I still get dragged into from time to time but you know what, after last summer had THE DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN and WALL-E, all great, fun, smart, well-made, and hugely popular, it’s hard to really get upset about it anymore. I can let go of my fear that standards are so low nobody will try to make good ones anymore. If people like a movie I think is **** then so be it. It’ll take more than Michael Bay to kill the summer movie.

Yeah the Transformers series is pretty bad but at the same time people seem to be forgetting that the plot revolves around giant transforming robots fighting each other so I am not sure why people even had higher expectations than mindless action.
But yeah back on topic a Spider-Man trailer being attached to the new Transformers flick makes a lot of sense. Studios these days like to take advantage of showing 3D previews along with 3D features so it seems like a no brainer since both are in 3D and Transformers will make a ton of money.

I hope this is true, I imagine Sony will want to get the hype-train running full steam well ahead of the release; this would be the perfect start. They did the same with Spider-Man 3, the first trailer was in like June of 2006, right? Almost a year ahead of the release.

TF3 is going to make boatloads of cash. If a trailer for TAS is going to be attached to it, it's a smart business move by Sony. Plus the fact that we're pretty much guaranteed to see footage at SDCC next month.

I can't see any major glimpse of The Lizard/Spidey's battle/s... maybe a scene where we see Spidey land in the sewer or something, cut to a very dark figure in the shadows that moves slightly out so we can see his mouth and roars and shows his teeth or something, I doubt that even.

I think it is a safe bet that the teaser will at least have some kind of shot of Garfield in the new Spidey suit in action. Maybe of Spidey swing straight into the crowd/camera.

What would be the point in a TDK teaser? They're using Transformers for its 3D, right? Exactly.
That vfx guy said that same teaser trailer will be in extended version at comic con so we'll definitely see some footage with tf3.

The teaser for the first Spider-Man film was perfect. I'd imagine something along those lines (though not a rip-off of it).
Someone mentioned that there should be shots of Spidey fighting the Lizard and what not. C'mon guys. This is a teaser. It's meant to TEASE you with just enough to get you interested and get your butt in the theater seat. Blowing the money shots in a teaser just isn't going to happen.
I actually can't wait to see the teaser in the theater. Has anyone noticed that there are ALWAYS the same predictable comments from the same fat loudmouths that need to loudly whisper or theatrically insert their two cents to the entire audience:
"They're making another one?" (this is the most common. It's always "they")
"Who's that?" (of the unfamiliar actors involved in the franchise)
"The first one was better"
"Pass!"
or just general snorts, giggles and laughter.

Cartoonish? In 2001? I saw the teaser in front of Jurassic Park 3 and Final Fantasy... Now those had cartoonish CGI. The helicopter in the web, the close-up of Spidey shooting the web and Spidey swinging were very well done.
You're right, this series won't resemble the old one at all! If you thought the other films focused too much on Peter Parker and not Spidey, this new one will be a fanboy's nightmare with the promise of even MORE of a focus on Peter Parker and not Spider-Man.

Isn't Spider-Man suppose to look cartoonish? I mean he had actual weight and depth in the previous films, but gritty isn't a word I would pair with the look of it? I mean can you describe the look of grittiness when he is swinging?

I was amazed at the scene where Spidey ambushes the thugs robbing the armored truck at night and the scene where Spidey twists and dodges the razor bats in the fire. The CGI was well done and does in fact, hold up just fine (as does the CGI in the original Jurassic Park, etc...). The CGI in GI Joe (2009 I believe?) is worse than Spider-Man (2002). What's up with that?

All I wanted to do was hang Tobey and Kirsten's Peter and MJ to alleviate the pain of watching them speak. There should always be more Peter than Spider-Man. Peter becomes Spidey not the other way around, which automatically gives more material to Parker. However, in the Spider-Man movies, both characters were damn-near muted monotone monkeys with no personality.

You are easily pleased, that scene looked horrible, from the disappearing guns, to the weird looking movement of a bouncing "TIGGER" like CGI Spider-Man, and of course Elfman's cheesy whimsical cartoon music (two flutes and a whistle) didn't help. A soulless and weightless figure to say the least. Spider-Man has some of the worst Practical/CGI combination that these eyes were ready to lay sight on.

lol. You certainly do have your little agenda. I didn't mention anything about the acting or portrayal of the characters. I noted that there will be more of a focus on Parker and less on Spidey...which is exactly what fanboys b*tched and moaned about for the last series. Try to stick to the topic at hand. Of course, I think it's better that the focus is more on Peter, but the attraction of these movies to most short-attention span fanboys is colorful figures in bright costumes fighting bad guys. So yeah.
Ah, a snide, predictable, unwarranted insult... Coming from you though, it's meaningless! So yeah, I stand by what I said. There was some CGI that stuck out painfully (wrestling suit Peter crawling the wall), in Spider-Man but most was very well done for 2002...as opposed to other films of a similar nature that relied heavily on CGI (the Mummy Returns, the Matrix sequels, which had AWFUL cgi, no matter how you evaluate them).
As I said before, the CGI in Jurassic Park was great for 1993. It looks a little dated now, sure, but if you look at it as being from that time period, it's impossible not to give it props.

Spider-Man has some great VFX/Practical mixture. I know to this day that people had no idea that the Spider-Man dodging the razors was CGI.
It's one of the most well done and earliest applications of almost pure integration between both SFX forms and doing it seamlessly in a super hero movie.

I don't really understand the hate between Peter and Mary Jane, at least not in SM3 anyway. It always made sense to me what they were saying and I think they were going for a sweet relationship.
I don't think we'll get any really footage until about August/ September and even then I think it'll be quite brief. People expecting a trailer to pop up next day are mad. This is a big movie which only finished filming last month, it's gonna be about 5 months before we get any kind of teaser trailer IMO.
And yes, I would really like a Spidey/ Lizard fight in the sewers too. :cwink:

We're getting stuff for sure at SDCC in July, that'll be cool. An vfx artist working on the film also confirmed we're getting the 1st teaser end of this month with TF3. You'd imagine Sony wants people to get to know about this film early on, and a teaser with a film as big as Transformers is a good start.

Isn't it just weird that we didn't get a set pic of Irffan Khan until know? I guess that just proves that he wont be too big of a character...

I still wonder what type of chracter he's playing.
From what I've understood, even though he wont be a super villain, he still will be a villain on some level
Spider-ManHero12
06-12-2011, 05:03 PM
^^ Maybe he works at Oscorp.
Doctor Jones
06-12-2011, 05:10 PM
I'm thinking he's the scientist who works at Oscorp that is working on the spider that bites Peter. I highly doubt he will be a super villain. He could be a villain as just a scientist, in Osborn's place until a sequel.
Troy_Parker
06-12-2011, 06:13 PM
Could be a scientist that's working on the spider that bites Peter as Doctor Jones said or he could be working in conjunction with Osborn (name mentioned, no cameo) on some secret formula... which of course could be explained in the sequel. ;D

I'm thinking he could be Osborn's assistant or maybe he has something to do with Peter's parents.

A Lizard reveal in a first teaser trailer, are you serious?
I was saying it will be better if a lizard reveal in a trailer than poster. Next time, read other posts more carefully.
Yeah, I'm not expecting much Lizard at all in the teaser. If the trailer is similar to SM3's teaser, I just expect the Lizard related stuff to be brief flashes of Conner's experiment/transformation.
^^ Agreed, and a trailer like S-M3's teaser is absoloutely perfect, IMO.
Agreed. I hope it will not like TDK teaser trailer.

They won't. So stop worrying guys.
With Batman, that sort of thing works. With Spider-Man, it's not as effective.
And keep in mind that was for the sequel! I keep saying this. It's easy to get people hyped for a sequel of something sucessful with something small.
If you want an indication of what type of teaser we'll get, look at the teaser for the first Spider-Man.

You didn't have to mention it, I did. As I don't mind more Peter than Spider-Man, as long as the script doesn't read like a Special Ed student wrote it, and the actors are actually into their roles. Unlike Tobey and Kirsten who just couldn't wait for the checks to clear.
Most of the CGI/Practical work in Spider-Man (2002) was absolutely awful and did stick out like a sore thumb, including that armored truck scene. The CGI in Spider-Man was dated a year or two later, unfortunately.
Jurassic Park deserves its props and still hold up today, Spider-Man however doesn't.
Yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man. :oldrazz:
I honestly can't help but find it hilarious that these movies get under your skin to such an extent. Take it easy "KAW".

It's gonna be so weird when we see all those featurettes, behind-the-scenes, interviews without Laura. She seemed to be like that nice, sweet aunt everybody loves to have. This is so sad. At least, she's in a better place e left us three amazing Spider-Man movies. The Amazing Spider-Man has to be amazing to honor her.
