That pissed me off when I went to buy my first smartphone last month. Not only has AT&T canceled unlimited data plans, they've canceled all of the family data plans too. Even if you have a family phone plan, every individual on that plan needs to purchase their own individual data plan on top of that.
I'm still using a cellphone that has this neat mp3 player and a video camera, am i still hip???

A smartphone is pretty much all those phones that are mini computers. People use them to web browse, e-mail, text, watch videos etc. Also, they almost always have ****** phone call quality.

F*** tablets. They're some arbitrary bulls*** between a phone and a laptop, and they're nerfed by either of those standards. The greatest marketing job Apple's ever done is convincing people they actually need those pieces of crap.
But if you're gonna get one, I say go for the Samsung. It's awesomesauce, and it runs Flash because its corporate overlords aren't idiots.

Hahaha. My thinking for a tablet is this. I wanted to get an e-reader like the Kindle but I think it would be a waste to have a single purpose device. I also want to check out some apps for digital comics. I can technically do that on my laptop but I want something easy to carry around.

Every time I look at an e-reader, I get this dirty feeling like people are getting sold an expensive accessory they don't need whilst being told they need it. I mean, books aren't music or movies. You don't need an external device to play them. E-readers save shelf space, but that's about the only advantage I can think of for them. The fact that one of the main selling points for some e-readers is that the screens look & function just like real pages makes me want to stay with real pages. I mean, mp3 players don't pride themselves on looking just like old phonographs.

That's a good point, but I think the other advantage besides self-space is price. You do have to buy it, yeah, but if you read a lot and buy a lot of books, it will pay for itself over time since e-books do tend to be cheaper than buying the print version. I mean, hell, I've probably got $20-30 worth of books for that Kindle PC app that I got for free.

Ah, my mistake. It's the paperbacks that are roughly the same price as the ebooks, not the hardcovers. Well then, with that price difference of a few cents to a dollar, I suppose the Kindle would basically pay for itself after the first couple hundred books.

See, that's the thing. Before e-readers, who carried several books around with them all the time? I sure as hell don't. I carry around one book at a time. I carry a novel with me until I finish it. Then I shelve/sell it and carry around a different book until I finish that.

And you never will. I mean we've made a compelling case for them. I mean, I can understand if you don't want to pay $100 up front for something that will pay for itself in the short term. $114 (the cheapest, ad supported Kindle cost) is not something to throw out lightly. Lots of people. I've seen kids in college that carry more than one novel at a time. Either way, before e-readers it wasn't practical to do so. We're also not factoring in that you can download newspapers and some magazines on your e-reader.

Some American farmers get most of their manual labor done by hiring illegal migrant workers who get paid unfair tiny wages. It's very not legal. Farmers get away with it because the workers shouldn't legally be in this country to begin with.
Ah, America. We're a country built on the backs of slaves and indentured servants.

Well... it has kept all of the farmers who haven't actually started doing it in the first place from doing it.
But it does make it hard to compete and it is unfair to those who do try to get by legally, since these practices drop the market price of their crops.

It feels weird to have pre-orders that aren't from Gamestop, but those particular stores had the best s*** for each game. Pretty flarkin' awesome. I'm not especially thrilled with his buzz-cut--it actually made me think it was Damian at first, in which case I would've just skipped it and gone with a different pre-order bonus altogether--but it's cool that they went with Tim over Dick. Maybe they wanted to leave Dick open for an appearance as Nightwing at some point.

Yeah, I fell into that trap when I was talking to a friend of mine. I think I was looking at a cover for a recent Batgirl issue and he was like, "Is that Batgirl?" and then I said, "Yeah, the current one." Then I had to explain Spoiler and Cass and Babs and somehow I wound up explaining the difference between pre-Crisis Kathy Kane and the current Kate Kane, all of the Robins, Talia al'Ghul having test tube babies with Bruce's DNA, etc. I stopped at the Zur-en-Arrh part and just flat-out told him I hadn't read that s***.

Raven in the background and her reactions are the bestest bit of this comic strip
This is why Xavier should not be allowed to have a beer bong
I'm trying to get that same Batman/Empty Nest friend to check out Breaking Bad right now. It's more a matter of not having the actual DVDs to lend him than anything else, though. He's definitely open to it because he and I have pretty similar TV tastes. Dude's actually watching Beast Wars again right now, and I already told him I'd hook him up with ReBoot when the full series box set is released at the end of this month.

Most superheroes can be summed up in a few short sentences. Green Lantern?
"He's from Earth, but he has a magic ring from space that gives him the ability to create anything he wants. But it's limited by his imagination. And his willpower. And he can't just point the ring at stuff to fix or heal it unless he knows how to fix or heal it normally. In fact, it's just physical objects. Oh, and the objects have to be green. And the ring lets him breathe in space. Oh, and he's a space cop. All the other Green Lanterns are all cops who solve crimes on different planets. Oh, and the reason he's called a "lantern" despite using a magic ring is because the ring has to be recharged by holding it up to a magic green alien lantern. Oh, and there's like half a dozen different superheroes on Earth who call themselves Green Lantern. The first is Alan Scott, but he's not a space cop and his ring comes from--"

In all seriousness, you couldn't simply say GL is a Space cop whose weapon is a ring and a Lantern which acts as a battery that powers the ring. He can make the ring create pretty much anything he wills it to. Like a Boxing glove, a Sword, or a giant baby summo wrestler with clown shoes and a beaver tail.

We didn't much there before he left. I don't know, I use to not have any problems with him. I mean, yeah, he had some wonky opinions and all, but it seemed okay. But I swear, within the last 6 months-year he started getting really bad. Stuff like obviously being contradictory for the sake of doing so and pulling the whole 'hate everything' mask. I think that time he got all pissy because I poked fun at him, calling me childish and all that, was when I just started disliking him.

It was awhile back, about less than a month before he left. I was joking about, saying something to someone about how they were competing with lix for worst opinion of the lounge or something like that, and he got into this whole tirade on me. At first I just rolled with it, thinking he was just joking, but then I realized he was being serious, and that really was dumb
Feelings = caught.
Yeah, I guess you could say that. I don't know, it was probably more my surprise that he decided to get all high horse on me for something like that. Yeah he did seem to start hate everything and just complain and complain, did not dig his approach on pirating DC animated movies and saying "yeah i won't buy this and support the DC DTV line until it meets my limits" which is one of the reasons why stuff like the DC animated shorts just got canceled, too many pirate the movies instead of purchasing. :*( Now if WB could get their asses and get that superhero franchising out there, screw that GL was a flop, learn from mistakes and start making Flash, WW, Green Arrow movies and stuff, i mean the GL: Emerald Knights animated movie sold for like 500k on it's 1st week, thats better than Batman Under the Red Hood if i remember correct, so yeah more live action movies = better sales on the DC animated series = then sell toys toys toys = alot of money for WB.
