Yeah, I may still go see it. Maybe a matinee, a few weeks from now. Or if the Bootleg man is at the shop with a good copy I might grab it. But I'm not gonna go see a s**ty movie in hopes that they'll make more. It sucks but, eh, that's their problem not mine.

I'll Netflix it if anything. I'm not especially interested in seeing it at all because 1) Hal, and 2) now I know for a fact that it sucks, since the reviews are all but unanimous about that.
If your a fan of Green Lantern I would say see it on the big screen because there really are some spectacular visuals. Just don't expect Iron Man, Thor or TDK quality.

I've read some reviews, but hopefully you can answer:
I mean the scenes Sinestro has is pretty much him giving speeches and whatnot, so isn't the end credit scenes him taking the yellow lantern ring? Why does he do that? Why would he need to do that at all? Yeah i've read Geoff Johns run, but for the sake of the movie why would he do that? It just seems the general audience would feel this is a drastic twist for the sake of it.
Also does Hal Jordan actually defeat Parallax all by himself?!

I've read all the reviews. They say
Sinestro being revealed at the end makes absolutely no sense with what happened in the movie.
If that is true, it's just fan service and a tasteless set up for a sequel.

Um, nooo there is a reason why he has the ring. it's part of the plot. him putting it on isn't explained but he has the ring because the guardians gave it to him. any regular movie goer will say he was curious. comic people will know better though.

his plan to defeat parallex is to fight fear with fear so the guardians forge a yellow ring and give it to him. just as he's about to put it on, Hal steps in and tells them what it's capable of and convinces them that Will is stronger than fear. Also, it's pretty clear that what they're calling Parallex is just parallex in Krona's body.

Hound55

It shouldn't need explaining, a film should be able to stand alone on it's merit.
Regarding the post credit scene:
Yeah isn't that just silly? Sinestro doesn't go Yellow Lantern until after he's all busted about being a tyrant himself and when he can only rely on himself, if the movie shows him as a a great speech maker and a genuily good guy instead of a tyrant, then does the general audience really need to wait for the sequel to find out what a control freak he actually is?

I can understand how people found Constantine entertaining its an ok movie. I have read almost every Hellblazer comic though and its really not a good adaptation at all really.
As Mysti said Constantine is like Spike from Buffy. His a heavy drinking, smoking Con-Man, who will lie, cheat and use his friends and people he knows like human sheilds. He will flip the bird at the Devil, pee on the first vampire and take a poop in the garden of eden just for the fun of it.
He manipulates people like the Doctor from Doctor. Keanu is about as far from the character as you can cast, they took the dangerous habits storyline and ditched everything that really made it intresting and if they were going to set the movie in the U.S New York would of been a better option.

I also like Punisher 89 and War Zone better than 04 Punisher. Punisher torturing people with ice poles, having slapstick fights with wrestlers and living in an apartment with misfits like a bad 90s sitcom in Florida ain't my thing.
Punisher 89 was cheesey badly acted action b-movie yet I still found it entertaining. Too be honest besides the whole not have the skull on his t-shirt and living in a dirty sewer naked like a nudist Teenage mutant Ninja Turtle it wasn't all that different from how the Punisher was in the comics in the 80s.
The scene at the end in which Doloph Lundgren kills the mob boss in front of his kid and the kid points puts the gun at franks head with frank saying do it is still pretty awesome. The line where he says "your a good kid tommy, grow up to be a good man... because if you don't" is still the most badass thing a Punisher has said in any of the three movies.
Punisher War Zone took elements of Garth Ennis Punisher run and merged them together into a generic action b-movie which is why it failed. It left out the characters background and stories. If they just picked one storyline of Ennis Punishers and adapted that it might of worked.
They left out Franks catholic background (Catholic guilt/ need to punish ect), growing up in a mob run neighbourhood (seeing injustice around him), his experince of war and post traumatic stress disorder. His Rorschach like absolutism morally uncompromising viewpoint which alienates him from the rest of society and having seen the worst depths of humanity in criminals.
All the thinks beyond the surface stuff that make Frank Castle intresting are ignored in the three movies. Much like Bruce Wayne isn't only Batman because his parents died Frank Castle isn't simply the Punisher because his family were killed.

And its probably a good idea to keep me far away from the bridesmaids so i am not offended that you have not invited me Uncle Womp
it's not silly at all..he could be just trying it on and stay a green lantern, pull it out when he needs to half way through the next movie. why is that hard to understand?
but shouldn't it be considered silly due to:
1) The movie does not show Sinestro having issues with the Guardians
2) They create the Yellow ring to fight fire with fire, btu Hal Jordan proves alone that humans can outsmart Abin Sur and Sinestro by doing the simplest thing ever: Punching the villain to the sun, only humans can think of this!
So he knows Will power over won Krona more or less, so why does he feel the need to have the fear ring? Hal owned the essence of fear with willpower, doesn't that mean anything to him? It just seems they did it for the sake of pleasing the comic fans, but not caring about the plot.
Anyhow my favourite reviewer liked Ryan Reynolds and Mark Strong's performances but felt the movie had potential but it just failed with it's pacing and whatnot, he doesn't read comics and he felt abit loss here and there, oh and i didn't know Clancy Brown was voicing Parallex?! :wow::wow:

For real reminds me of the whole corruption at FIFA and Strauss-Kahn Rape thing.
In France the press will straight up ignore adultry and sexault assualt stories involving politicians. They "have a boys will boys mentality".
As for Soccer corruption when British media complained they were corrupt one of the Fifa vice presidents said yes but only British and Americans complain about that stuff corruption is seen as a normal way of life in Africa, South America, The Middle East, parts of Europe ect

The 'Seduction' Myth: What the French Still Don't Get About Sex
Dominique Strauss-Kahn has not been convicted of any crime. Neither would it be appropriate to indict French society — the pervasive sexism parading as a celebration of "difference," the self-indulgence of the "caviar left," of which he is a prime exemplar — for his (alleged) behavior. To do so, after all, would be to fall into the same facile trap as the various French commentators who, in the days since the International Monetary Fund chief's arrest in New York City for sexual assault and attempted rape, have fallen all over the case as an example of American sensationalism and, of course, classic "Puritanism."
But still.
The arrest of the "great seducer," as Strauss-Kahn is commonly known in France — on shocking charges of notably unseductive behavior toward an immigrant single mother working as a hotel housekeeper — didn't come entirely out of the blue for those who have closely observed his behavior toward women over the years. And that behavior has occurred in, and perhaps been encouraged by, a culture that takes a complacent, even complicit attitude toward inappropriate, sometimes predatory sexual action on the part of powerful men, normalizing it, even occasionally romanticizing it, under the catchall cliché of Gallic seduction.
In their 2006 book Sexus Politicus, authors Christophe Deloire and Christophe Dubois dedicate a whole chapter to Strauss-Kahn, in which they delicately relate the story of a young journalist who claimed that "DSK" had, in a private interview, shown himself to be "very enterprising, even unseemly, to the point where she thought of bringing charges." In 2007, when Strauss-Kahn's candidacy to be the managing director of the IMF was announced, the website Rue89 spoke of his "too pronounced" taste for women. Jean Quatremer, a reporter for the left-wing daily Libération, wrote in his blog at the time that Strauss-Kahn's "relationships to women" were a "real problem." "Too insistent ... his actions often border on harassment," Quatremer wrote. "A failing that everyone in the media knows about, but which no one talks about. (We are, after all, in France.)"
In France this week, the cataclysm of Strauss-Kahn's arrest brought the start of a much needed conversation about the virtue of maintaining this long-cherished code of silence. Tristane Banon, the aforementioned young female journalist, came forward to say that she was going to formally lodge a complaint against Strauss-Kahn. Her mother, Anne Mansouret, a Socialist regional counselor and friend of Strauss-Kahn's family, came forward to express her "regret" that she'd dissuaded her daughter from taking action in the past, for fear of breaking her family's important political and personal ties to the influential politician. Another female journalist spoke of the callousness of colleagues who routinely dismissed allegations by women about the predatory behavior of powerful men with talk of "She asked for it." She wrote, "The understanding is that the rapist isn't guilty but almost the victim of the woman who's a tease."
This message was drowned out by the much louder chorus of voices rising to declare Strauss-Kahn a victim. The corps of French journalists who have enjoyed the delicious privilege of keeping DSK's — and other politicians' — sexual peccadilloes to themselves appeared horrified by the fact that, in America, his accuser's name and face were kept hidden from public view while he himself was humiliatingly photographed in handcuffs and subjected to "pitiless media pressure," as Le Nouvel Observateur put it. "What do we know about the chambermaid?" read a suspicious headline in the respected daily Le Monde
As Strauss-Kahn's case moves forward in New York, the particular form of French "exceptionalism" that holds that men will be men and women will be women and no amount of political correctness can — or should — temper their natural desires will be on trial too. Like it or not, Strauss-Kahn and his supporters now have to play by our rules. These don't stem from prudishness or Puritanism. They're based on respect, on updated understandings of male-female power relations and on a desire to change the nasty little systems of complicity that have long kept them flowing in one direction.
Rather crazy stuff. Anyway I'm just waiting for Germany to invade Greece :awesome:

Best thing Clinton did, was a Republican thing, welfare reform. The problem with both sides right now is that they are to worried about 2012 to do anything meaningful. They are afraid to compromise because if they do and it works, the other side would take credit. Neither party is actually better than the other. Democrats have an easier time of it, because their philosophy allows them to spend other people's money to buy votes.

And I love the original Planet of the Apes. I don't need to know why they ended up that way.

What the trailers need to explain better is that it's the panic that leads to the apes being able to take over. Guns and **** are one thing, but once all those diseases that we test on laboratory apes get out and panicked evacuations start spreading them further, it starts to make a lot more sense.
Also, I find it very believable that no matter how super smart someone is, most people tend to underestimate other animals to the point that they'd never see it coming until it's too late. Science doesn't even officially admit that other animals could possibly have emotions. Arrogance and panic are what will likely lead to our downfall in that movie.
But hey, if you think it's dumb, that's fine. Nobody's making you see it. I'm going to be there though.

Like I said, it could very easily be a very good movie but the trailers are doing nothing for me. The last trailer was a lot better because it focused more on the apes. I'm not saying the premise isn't believable but I think you underestimate humanity's position on animals. At the end of the day humans fear animals, hence why our gut reaction is to shoot it.

I think the movie should be a comedy, i still can't get over the idea of apes winning humans with nuclear weaponry. :p Oh and i lolled at this: "I hereby declare Green Lantern the worst superhero movie ever made. And yes I count The Phantom and The Shadow as superhero movies. Green Lantern was the cheapest-looking 300 million dollar movie I've ever seen. Why didn't they give that money Africa? It had a couple of good moments, all coming from Mark Strong. But oh man." - Mark Millar.
The best put down I have heard from a film critic in he last 24 hours is "the director doesn't direct the movie he just points the camera and hopes actors get in the way" :funny:
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I loved The Shadow! :cmad:

Gorilla Grodd is awesome. So is Detective Chimp, believe that.
You know what isn't awesome? Green Lantern. It really is as bad as everyone is saying. None of the characters are well developed. Hal Jordan has one training session, where he gets his ass kicked and runs off home sulking. Then after a pep talk from Carol, he somehow becomes this amazing Green Lantern who can defeat Parralax, the being that destroys civilisations and kills Abin Sur, who is supposed to be the greatest GL ever apparently.
Seriously, it's terrible. The only good parts were on Oa... which we've all already seen in the trailers. Literally 90% of the movie is set on Earth.

So much wasted potential and The CGI looked very animated at times, The villain was an absolute joke, Carol was miscasted , Ryan overall just wasn't Hal Jordon from the comics . If a sequel is made their needs to be some serious improvements done for this franchise .

My problem with it was it was a Jim Carrey movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved Jim Carrey as the mask, he's a great actor, but when he's cast as a well know character it often turns into "Jim Carrey as (X)" where it's more Jim Carrey than (X).

Are you talking about Superfolks? Yeah, apparently Morrison made that claim, but Moore acknowledged influence of that book
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superfolks
Grant Morrison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_Morrison) wrote an article in Speakeasy #111 and "n the span of a few paragraphs, Morrison implies that Alan Moore stole the plots for 'Marvelman,' 'Watchmen,' and 'Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?' from Robert Mayer's relatively obscure novel."[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superfolks#cite_note-1) When asked about the influence of Superfolks, Moore said that he had read it at some point before writing [I]Marvelman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvelman) but that "it was by no means the only influence, or even a major influence upon my output. I’d still say that Harvey Kurtzman’s Superduperman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superduperman) probably had the preliminary influence, but I do remember Superfolks and finding some bits of it in that same sort of vein."[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superfolks#cite_note-2)

He didn't sound crazy in that interview, he was just defending himself matter of factly from an attack on his rep. He even said that Grant Morrison admitted later on that he was just trying to make a name for himself doing that, attacking a more famous writer.
and as for the talk of what the writers of BF were thinking...that was actually the first BM movie that had direct influence from the modern comic books, the first two Burtons never felt like they had much of a comic book influence in them at all, bar the basics. That's what I liked about it, it actually felt a bit more like the Batman from the books, of course, it was still nowhere as good as a Batman should have been, but we had to wait a while for those films.
