Should Hollywood go with unknowns for superheros with big physiques, or go with a star?
I guess, Chris Hemsworth in Thor proves that you can, even though Anthony Hopkins as Father Odin said he had a tough go with him, saying he "couldn't act".
But, on the other hand, I think the powers that be (Fox, Marvel, etc) are afraid of going with a professional wrestler - afraid it would be labled a B-Move (trying to think of that wrestler in "Plan 9 from Outer Space)

Also, I'm not a fan of CGI for the bigger superheros (athough it would have been tough for the Hulk with a live actor)

So my point is - Yes, don't go with "The Rock", unless you want your marvel hero movie to be smarmy, but do look all over the world for someone who can fill the shoes (almost literally) of your bigger heros and villains.
Example - Michael Chiklis has great acting ability, but, come-on, he was a little too small for the FF's Thing!

They should keep doing what they've been doing, which is cast actual actors to play their characters.

The GA would laugh Marvel right off the proverbial stage if they tried to put wrestlers up on the screen instead of actors.

Chris Hemsworth was also on Star Trek. I don't think he was a wrestler turned actor.

Michael Keaton got away with Batman. There are certain roles like that can justify casting someone like Keaton over, let's say, casting someone primarily for their physicality.

I thought this rumor was de-bunked? Hemsworth clearly CAN act.

No one should be hired solely on the basis of their frame or likeness to the character. You need actors to pull off these unbelievable characters and make them believable.

I remember when people wanted Triple H as Thor because he's huge and Norse looking. Imagine how bad Thor would have been if they'd gotten their wish.

I see some people getting behind the Old Spice guy as Luke Cage because of his self-promotion and his paltry resemblance.

People try to argue that the Rock would be the perfect Namor and again I facepalm because he'd make an already hard to swallow character even more ridiculous than he has to be.

I'm just glad no one listens to them and casting agents have some foresight, especially at Marvel Studios.

From what I've character casting should not be part of the democratic process.

Was he too small? Remember, the real Thing - the Kirby Thing - was shorter than Reed so I think he was comic accurate in the movies.

Yeah, Chiklis was 100% based on Kirby's early Thing, before the pronounced brow and wider physique.

In my opinion they should go with who ever is good for the role, plain and simple. Actors can dye/cut/grow their hair, gain/lose weight/muscle etc... for a role.

If there's one comic character the Rock would be great as, it would be Black Adam for DC.
