No one is questioning Nolan.
No one is questioning the quality of the movie.
The only thing being judged is the teaser it's self, most are still positive that the movie is going to be great.
I'm too lazy to look back at all the pages but you should read some of the comments if you're interested in seeing how come people are doing just that.

I'm pretty certain it's Bruce doing the push-ups.
The more I look at it the more I think so too. It could be young adult Bane though too. All I know is the guy has hair. But does Bruce go back to jail if its him?

That's not what I'm saying. Yeah, some people don't like the teaser but to use four scenes and a bit of dialogue to pass judgement on a movie that doesn't come out til next year??....then no.

I think TDKR will have the same blue hue as TDK did, because of the blue flames at the beginning of the trailer and because the bat symbol at the end seemed to have a blueish hue

I've got mixed views on the trailer. I defo need to see the HD version to get the vibe i anticipated, but as a teaser, it works well. The emotional stuff, flashbacks and all.
Just a thought though, although it's sad to see Gordon in a hospital bed, imagine they used Alfred saying "Why do we fall" or something. More sad?
Anyway, Monday can't come sooner!

Also, Batman will not be involnatry quitting. Didn't you guys watch TDK? He learned that he can't do that.
But, him being gone (per Gordon) means that not only does Bane break the Bat physically but also mentally. His symbol, ideal, legend is broken and it takes everything (not just rehab/etc) to come back to take down the EVIL.
Respectfully Don't see it that way.
Imagine how tough it would be for him to travel the streets and fight crime and the police.
Batman would do more harm than good after TDK. Bruces best option is become like his father thus this movie will start with bruce doing what his dad did to fight poverity.

OK I think I've found the source of my semi-disappointment with the Teaser. THat title scene. It's just skinny black letters on a full white background. Does anyone else wish they had done that better? Cuz I agree the building shot is freaken epic, but to follow that up with such a weak title sequence... gahhh it just leaves a bad tast in my mouth. I really hope they have a new one come trailer time (or to be fair it might look better on a theater screen so who knows)

Brought to you by Warner Bros. marketing. JK
I know what teasers are, I know who they are meant for, I analyze it as much as anybody else on a SHH thread dedicated to Teaser itself should be expected to, and I am glad I got new footage, and I still think this teaser was sub par. Trust me you can tell it was rushed (or at least I can).
Ah yes, I work for WB, because I don't hate. (It's ok you were JK)
Did you think the new footage was sub par too? or just how the teaser was put together? Because I can tell you, the only thing that the GenPop (aka the people that matter the most) will care about, is that theres a new batman film, and they have been informed of it. Heck, it would even garner more interest because WB seem to have gone the potter route and touted it as the "Conclusion"
I don't mind that a group of people don't like the teaser, that's fine and expected, has nothing to do with my enjoyment. What annoys me is how over analytical they are over an announcement teaser. It's crazy and insane, kinda obsessive (like those people who see joker faces in the poster) The teaser is not meant to entertain you, just perk the interest of people who didn't know about the movie.

I've been reading the thread off and on today, cause it's moving pretty fast. Yes, some are doubting, but people on here, not saying you, are making general assumptions that if you dislike the teaser, you are hating the movie. It's not true. It's just getting annoying reading the same posts over and over again of people criticizing anyone that dislikes any part of the teaser. You'd figure with something exciting like this, there would be less hate on here, but I guess that isn't the case. :oldrazz:

HD or not, I am happy with what I've seen. I wasn't expecting ANY footage at all.
Especially a possibly back-broken Gordon and a pummeled Batman inching away from Bane at the end of the trailer. I'm guessing Bane's mask is an inhaler of the Lazarus fluid so that he doesn't feel pain and/or quickly rejuvinates. Making it nearly impossible for Batman or anyone to defeat him in battle

Gordon wouldn't be lying on his side if his back was broken.
The lazarus pits aren't in the movie.
We're already seen that the thing in India was a hole, connected to a tunnel, that Bane climbs out of in the teaser.

Studio logos were blue flames like TDK, but it's hard to tell from the footage what color grading was done, if any. It did look contrasted, heavy on shadow and light, but it could just be the bad quality.

I actually really like where they are going with this. Bruce finds it all to be so much of a burden that he can't take it for a while it seems, he gives it up and maybe even goes away for some time. Then comes back and is given the trial of a lifetime, only to rise above it.

Good catch.
It went from the wings being sloped downward in Begins, maybe signifying he's grounded. It's the beginning of Batman. He hasn't really began to take flight (control?) over the city yet.
Then in The Dark Knight, the wings are rigid, angular, sharp. He's strong, willing to withstand everything thrown at him to save Gotham.
And like you said with The Dark Knight Rises. He has to take flight again, he has to rise above, save Gotham.
That was just a little Sparknotes analysis, but I think it's something worth looking into.

Trailer opens with studio logos set on top of the blue flame from Dark Knight.
Start panning up some buildings, cut to screen card. EVERY HERO HAS A JOURNEY.
Cuts to a shot from "Begins" with Bruce walking up to that Village when he's looking for Ra's Al Ghul.
Screen Card: EVERY HERO HAS AN END
Ra's voice over: "If you make yourself more than just a man. If you devout yourself to be ideal. And you become something else entirely. A legend Mr. Wayne... A LEGEND!"
Screen Card: THE EPIC CONCLUSION
Cut to Gordon in a hospital bed laying on his side. Looks to be in serious pain. Has a breathing mask on. He's talking to someone.
Gordon: "We were in this together, then you were gone... Now this Evil rises. The Batman... HAS to come back." (All this is said in a very raspy voice, in much pain.)
Bruce/Batman (its not shown who he's talking to, so don't know in which form Bruce is visiting him in. My guess would be as Bruce Wayne): "What if he doesn't exist anymore?"
This part is the hardest to understand in the entire trailer. I listened to it at least 10 times but the score is over powering here and Gordon is having trouble talking. It sounds like if says "Humor me" while trying to laugh. I might be wrong here, full disclosure.
During this quick talk we're shown a shot of the bat cycle when it drives up the ramp from "Dark Knight," Gordon destroying the Bat Signal all cut in with the Hospital. As well as super fast flashes of Bane's face.
Pan up crumbling buildings to reveal the teaser poster, the camera zooms to the white opening and on an all white screen the title appears. The score reaches a fever pitch before turning over to The chanting from the website.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Fades to black and then we see Batman backing away from something, then Bane enters from the left side of the screen. Very quick shot, then the trailer is done.
-----
Not a very good trailer. I love the poster for the film. But the 'epic conclusion' angle they are using to sell the movie is cheesy and not a good idea. This isn't Star Wars Episode 3 here. It's a Batman film. We just want to see the bad guys.
I'm assuming Bane breaks Gordon's back in this film. And they are playing this film off as the last Batman film before a lame reboot...
Oh nice, couldn't make out the we were in this together line. Gordon sounds so weak :csad: (Also, I'm wondering why he's lying on his side lol it's probably nothing. Does it help you breathe? ) Can't wait to see what happens to him to end up like this. Not to sound cruel or anything... http://forums.superherohype.com/images/editor/spoiler.gif

As to why Batman "quit," I suspect it wasn't a "Batman No More" storyline a la Spider-Man 2 (or honestly, The Dark Knight as well used that as a small subplot that got buried at the 90 minute mark).
It's going to be Bane is going to break him near the beginning of the film it looks like. While Batman is away, Gotham is crumbling (hence the poster) and probably the rise of the freaks like Catwoman, presumably Joker is out there and of course Bane. Batman must return and finally bring salvation to Gotham from the freaks he inspired and possibly the League of Shadows that inspired him. Catwoman can be used as a character to help restore his faith in Gotham and Gordon is trying to inspire him. I also suspect that it is Bruce he is talking to and Gordon somehow finds out Bruce is Batman. Given Nolan's universe, that seems fitting.
On the internet. You're welcome.

So let's say Bruce does go into hiding/retires after the events of TDK, then he sets up the Wayne foundation to try and help Gotham in another way then directly fighting crime. Bruce then realizes after a few events, including his talk with Gordon in the hospital, that Gotham needs Batman more than ever. So Bruce retrains and decides to to wear the cape and cowl again in an attempt to stop Bane.
Can we then assume Batman gets one chance at Bane, but fails? I really hope not. I was expecting Bruce to get "broken" at the beginning of the film only to return and best Bane in there second encounter. But looking back on that, it would be kind of cliche`. Hero loses first battle with villain only to return in the end to defeat said villain.

Yupp. Here is my friend's quick mock up of what we might see:
My bet is Batman gets a beating in the TDK suit, and in the final act, returns with an upgrade, with the fully blown 'risen' Bat:

So after watching the trailer, I gotta say that this is looking to be the darkest of the trilogy, and after TDK, I really didn't think they could get any darker.
So I give this first glimpse a 10/10.
I absolutely love the font they used for the title. Its just so deliciously ominous http://forums.superherohype.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

The Joker

I don't see them having Batman broken by Bane at the start without building up their feud. Otherwise the actual breaking of Batman by Bane has no emotion resonance to it at all. It's just some masked faced muscle brute breaking Batman. If Bane breaks him, it has to be built up to.
The Joker was captured at the end of TDK so he is presumably in Arkham. He has already risen in Gotham. He turned the city upside down with his antics. He's the reason Batman is being hunted for murder.

I don't think it's so much as Bruce retires after TDK. That wouldn't make any sense. Why would he do that? Because the police were chasing him? The police were chasing him in Begins. Didn't bother him then. Because the public hates him? The public hated him in TDK. Sure, he almost revealed himself to be Batman, but that's because Joker was killing people unless Batman revealed himself.
There's no logical reason why Batman would "retire" after TDK.
So, I think, Bane "breaks" Batman toward the end of act one. Breaks him right there in the newly built cave. Which causes him to completely doubt not only his abilities as Batman, but to doubt himself. So Batman goes into hiding. Bruce visits Gordon in the hospital after Bane either causes that car accident gordon is rumored to be in, or Bane takes out Gordon as well. Gordon gives Bruce(in the ski mask) that pep talk after Bruce has healed himself, and Batman goes back to work.
That's ideal.

Agree with those points. I'm not convinced just yet that they're in the cave though. I'm thinking it's quite possible that confrontation could take place in the sewers (considering the sewer/sewer thug rumours). Which is why I think, when gordon is talking about "We were in this together, and then you were gone," he's speaking about their "public" partnership being ended after Batman framed himself for the Two-Face murders. Not Batman actually being literally gone.
Plus, I would think before, they were chasing him but still slightly in awe. Now, he's framed for murder. Not just one, but multiple. Yeah, but that doesn't mean they can catch him. They couldn't catch him before, in Begins, and they weren't even trying all that hard. But now? Batman will be even more on his guard, so they stand even less of a chance of catching him.
Plus, he can literally walk among them whenever he wants as Bruce Wayne. And, I'm sure, that Bruce has built even more BatBunkers all around the city for easier getaways.

Bane looks like a ****ing monster in that last shot.
And again, it's hard to tell by the quality, but it looks to me like Bane is going to be taller than Batman.
He reminds me of a bear when he walks, he's definitely a beast. And ya, he for sure does look bigger.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! In all the excitement, I missed when this rumor came out. Where was this first mentioned??
Yeah, I feel like I've heard this before, too! Wasn't this mentioned in one of the debunked teaser trailer descriptions? something about Gordon and a car accident overlooking the city in utter ruins? I hope I'm not going bat-ish insane...
Good night man, let it go.
Folks can discuss here but not post links to bootleg material, probably so SHH doesn't get into some sort of trouble with WB. This has always been the rule on SHH from what I've seen, and I've lurked here for several years.
EDIT: Oh, I guess you edited that after I responded to you. Still, is it really a big deal?

This trailer makes me think of how it was said that Hardy and Oldman would have a lot of screentime together in this movie.
Gordon "We were in this together, then you were gone. Now, this evil rises. The Batman must come back."
Bruce Wayne (prob is some disguise) "What if he doesnt exist anymore"
Gordon "He must. ... he must"
Thanks.

Ok im going to assume that the push up guy was bane for the sake of this.
I'm loving how the teaser is structured (the more i watch it) showing us clips of Bruce becoming Batman (Bhutan,Batcave,Batpod) then we see a desperate Gordon setting the scene reminding us that Batman is exiled (shot of him destroying signal) then talks evil that rises (shot of young bane climbing a well) then as Gordon pleads for Batman to come back we see shots of bane honing his skills and body with his pushups (possibly his training) then we finally get the reveal that is Bane.
It really seems that they are trying to push the idea that Bane is either some sort of anti batman, or more like an evil batman, a version of him thats gone wrong, someone who takes what makes batman good and removes it (without those limiters, it makes him bigger stronger and better than batman)
Then we see a worn down defeated batman in front of Bane.
All i got to say is holy shiz! This is looking good, very good.

I cannot wait to see that last shot in HD.

They did a great job of making Bane look SCARY. However, I won't lie when I say I'm more interested to see what Catwoman looks like and what her role in this movie is. I honestly think she's a more interesting character and while Bane will be the main bad guy of the movie, she should be able to easily steal the show as the audience favorite. I hope we see her in the first real trailer come December (and maybe a teaser image before then), considering that she's the more profitable and audience-friendly character as well.
I look forward very much to seeing Catwoman as well. I'm not sure I expected to see her in the trailer, I thought we might see Selina Kyle though which we didn't. Perhaps we will get an image of her revealed in the next few months, aside from that I do think she will show up in the first full-length trailer.
Loved the vibe of this trailer though, personally thought it was great that things centered on Bane with the overall effect it had.

Well that was certainly who he was intended to be during his initial comic appearances, and Nolan likes to go to the first issues of a character's existence for his inspiration.
This was the sole reason he was able to defeat him in the first place, aside from physical strength, he's super intelligent and tactical. I truly believe at one point or another he's going to know exactly who Batman is, and use it to his advantage.

They don't want to show too much, plus why give all the secrets away? many of the GA don't know catwoman will be in this so it would be a nice surprise for them, which is why their waiting until later on, release an official pic first like they did with Bane, couple of months before the new trailer, and have that trailer focus more on Catwoman and Bane rather than Batman...(obviously hes gonna be in it, but not the main focus of the trailer)
Catwoman is their main source of profit...which is why they want to keep her under wraps for now.

- the buildings forming the batsymbol...cant say nothing...awesome

The Joker was a force of nature, the stakes were high and while people were dying, there was hope down the road.
Here everything is broken. Bane is the very embodiment of the city's damaged image and all that's left to do for Batman is survive rather than inspire.

I wouldn't mind, actually. In fact, in the old franchise it seemed like Batman was revealing his true identity in every friggin' film. With this new franchise, Gordon would be the second person to know who Batman is besides Alfred...and Rachel...and Lucious.... (sigh), never mind. I don't like the idea.

There won't be a clearer one until it's direct feed. The person that bootlegged it got it from a private screening he was running with everything set up to record, and apparently with a 720p camera as he referred to it.

Are you an HP fan too?
I used to be quite a fan when I was younger, have read just about all of the books.. after the third movie I became disinterested though.. just as it seemed to be hyping up more for everyone else.
Seeing some commentary on the HP premiere on tv the other day though, my interest has been reignited enough to want to stay and experience the final film - it seems fitting. Initially I wasn't sure if i'd just go to watch the teaser for TDKR and leave, or if i'd stay.
It should make for a good night.

I drove 30 miles for a pizza and a batman mask from cfb. I drove 130 miles to see the dark knight a week before release. The virals cost money in gas but they are worth it. lol.
:funny: ... I can't top that one, unfortunately. I feel like I really wasn't that involed with the viral/marketing campaign, and I regret it. Kinda want to redeem myself with TDKR, but it looks like it won't happen, though...:csad:

So based on the convo that Gordon had with we assume to be Bruce, especially with the line "We were in this together and then you were gone", is it stupid to start thinking that at some point in the movie its made clear to Gordon who Batman really is? And if this turns out to be true, how do you all feel about that?
I like it. Makes their connection stronger and probably makes the story more compelling.

is it possible that the chants are "This is Awesome Awesome" ?

Well Rachel's dead. Alfred and Lucius make sense though. I don't want Gordon to know the identity though.
