I'm sure Nolan would only use CGI if it worked with Bane. He isn't the biggest fan of it.
He used CGI for Two Face, when he just as easily could have avoided it.

The cave was never destroyed, the only thing that wasn't around is Wayne Manor.It still doesn't make sense, cause he had the Bunker and the penthouse to go to if he had to park the Bat-pod, and put his suit away to hide it.

anyone else notice as you get the first shot of batman backing up, you see the wall behind him light up for a split second, then die back down again. kinda like it was the reflection of a flame....if that makes any sense.

That was most definitely not an easy thing to avoid. They used CGI because make up wasn't working for them.

Maybe he climbs out of that well into the well that we saw which may not even be a well? Who knows. Those reports about Bane being born of some fiery pit and impervious to pain come to mind.

Most of Two-Face's shots were pretty close with dialogue in tighter spaces...so that's probably a big reason why they didn't shoot IMAX (loud cameras, short reels). If Bane has more full-body and/or action shots...they could very well shoot in IMAX AND do CGI for it...and use 35/Vista for more dialogue-based/smaller space sequences.

IMAX does not eliminate the possibility of CGI...it just makes it a bigger workload because of the resolution. TDK had plenty of CGI effects used for IMAX sequences.

Yes my friends and I saw TDK there on the way back from SDCC that year. :awesome: I think I recall they decorated the lobby in front of the IMAX with red handprints and Joker scribbes. Fun stuff.

I think I prefer The Bridge (now called Rave 18 but THAT IS SUCH A LAME NAME. :cmad: ). Or at least I saw TDK more often so maybe that's why I remember it more distinctly. :funny: It's Wally's favorite IMAX theater in the area, at any rate.

Haha yes, they did. I know the manager and they always do awesome stuff. The night of the premiere they had every employee dress up in clown masks and all the girls were Harleys. The entire hallway down to the theater had been "Jokerized". It was really really cool.

That's one of the reasons why some filmmakers are pushing for 48 frames-per-second...although for IMAX, they may have to wait until digital cameras catch up in resolution...otherwise you're talking about 45 seconds of shooting per IMAX film reel. :O

MST3K, my friend. And that's pretty hilarious. You know, I actually enjoyed the movie the first time I watched it. I still don't think it deserves all the bashing, but it was certainly flawed and much less spectacular than the first two. Still, we didn't need a reboot... but that's for another thread! I haven't seen it, but if it was it'd probably have to be some of the earliest stuff shot, and the CG work would've had to have started really early. Not to say it's impossible, since much CGI live-action enhancement is planned out before you even shoot in terms of logistics and approach. The tough part would be refining/compositing/rendering, and Nolan finding the time to approve it for release while he's still shooting the movie.

But if they are going with CGI for Bane...it would make sense to schedule a lot of his stuff early to give VFX as much of a head start as possible on it.

So, I think the combination of that, CGI, and Hardy's workout plan will create Bane on screen.

I saw it. Teaser is badass, and Bane didn't look the slightest CG... Propably because he WASN'T CG... There's no need, and it's not Nolans style. Even though it was a quick shot, the way Bane stomps in from the side (seeing his massive bulking backside!!!), and seeing batman taking a step back in obvious scary fear, had me chilling! Bane will be one sick bastard!

Suposedly the teaser is only playing in 2D screens, and Imax 3d screens. Your friend probably saw HP on a standard 3D screen.

I saw it. Teaser is badass, and Bane didn't look the slightest CG... Propably because he WASN'T CG... There's no need, and it's not Nolans style. Even though it was a quick shot, the way Bane stomps in from the side (seeing his massive bulking backside!!!), and seeing batman taking a step back in obvious scary fear, had me chilling! Bane will be one sick bastard!

Two things I've notice, bane's mask seems to be a lot longer than the first pic suggested, it looks as if there's more "skeleton" fingers/valves beneath the upper ones, almost making it look like a creature opening its mouth if you will. and in the last shot(what little can be seen right now) batman looks out of breath and like he's stumbling around and looks surprised. I think this could be their first encounter.

So I remember someone on here making a point that WB can wait till Monday to release the teaser because only us hardcore fanboys are going to be seeking out a bootleg and the casual fan will look at youtube, search "dark knight rises trailer" and then not see it and move on.

Well that's getting crapped on now, because there are leaks all over the place that casual fans will easily find. Especially since some of the videos are titled "The Dark Knight Rises teaser 720p" they'll think it's official.

I understand WB wanting to wait till the weekend before releasing it, but dammit, at least clean up the Internets...especially easy places like YouTube if you're going to hold out. You can't have it both ways.

A few people realized what it was when the blue flames came on.

Once they showed the title card with Nolan's name, people clapped.

When they showed the title card with the title of the movie, everyone clapped. It was nice and all, but it distracted from the most interesting shots of the trailer with Batman and Bane.

I did notice there's clearly someone or something shaped like a person or costume in the distance behind Batman.
