So this is what I saw from my view today. Something involving a green screen:

I was filmed in front of this green screen yesterday along with 23 other people. We were used for close ups for the national anthem and the touchdown. It was a blast.

No problem, but yeah, he was in his coat for every take.
The guy who won the car did, but he didnt seem excited about anything, just casually talking to Tom and casually walking over to his brand new car. :o
Is going to wear that stupid coat for the whole movie? When he's sleeveless with the vest he actually resembles Bane a little.

Yeah, in one of the videos we have of the scene shot, if you are able to identify him you can see he is wearing the coat.
Hopefully the guy was excited on the inside.. even if attempting to keep composure, I would've been beaming.. and swooning a little over Tom :awesome:

I'm starting to think, that with the new pictures posted in the pictures no discussion thread, that that machine they have IS an earthquake type machine. Just on the way the ground is in the aftermath.
And that is...disappoint.

LOL because, he's the newbie actor of the group. And they probably tricked him into doing it ;)
Gotta love Nolan's "realism."

We know he's not going to be wearing the coat for the whole movie, because first of all - in the snowy fight scene we saw pics/video from recently - he is not wearing the coat. Although he is wearing a sweater underneath the vest there.
However, secondly - we know he goes sleeveless, as in the last portion of the teaser trailer you can clearly see his arms are exposed.
In the promo shot of course, he is shirtless, which could possibly be an indicator of how we will see him at some point in the film - but can't be entirely sure.

An earthquake machine would show that Nolan isn't so one eyed about realism as some say. I think TDKR will blend the styles of BB and TDK. The violence and chaos of TDK, and the comic book plot of BB.

Well I love the idea of the earthquake machine given Nolan love Tesla, and he did invent one in the early 1900's. Maybe Bowie comes back! ;)
But in seriousness, I don't' think this will be used as a typical doomsday type of device, like do this or else I'll destroy Gotham. Bane seems to want Gotham to bow to him not the Bat or those in cahoots with him (Gordon) I don't think this will be something where he will be trying to destroy Gotham with it, I think it has a different purpose it can cause destruction yes just as Joker's explosions can, but I think that he has a plan with this. Him saying this is the device of your liberation, interesting to me. I think he may have more in plan then just another destroy Gotham type of ploy, I think more to make Gotham his. Interesting though.

It was like my birthday and christmas all rolled into one. I wish I could have gone back today for the couple things they hinted to doing today. But I am moving into my new apt today and tomorrow, and needed to be there for my family. Over all my time on the set was a dream come true. It will be something to tell my grandkids about someday. My son who couldn't go because he is only 9 and the cut off age was 14, wanted to know why I didn't fight the guys with the guns.

It's about an Al Ghul disguised as somebody else using a doomsday machine to either destroy Gotham or control it.

Ra's never wanted to use it to "control" Gotham, it was to burn it to the ground and have it tear itself apart. There was no "control it" in Ra's book he tried that with economics it failed, so he used the microwave emitter for simply that, to destroy Gotham through fear gas.
Bane seems to not want to destroy Gotham but to liberate them and have them rise up.

True it is his playground but his main thing is chaos and destruction. Bane really wants it as almost his own, that everyone will look up to him, not Batman. Joker just wants a playground to destroy and cause chaos. There is no reason to his madness. He just does it. Bane has reason.

Notice how I said destroy OR control.
And if he doesn't want to destroy it, what's the point of the machine? A machine that literally causes earthquakes.
"This is the instrument of your liberation." Sounds like HE wants to liberate them. By destroying a corrupt city. Kinda what Ra's wanted to do.

Ra's just wanted it destroyed, I don't think Bane wants that, he just wants those in power out and him in power in their eyes. I have a feeling it is part of his strategy to have Gotham as his. More of a threat then an actual want to destroy it.

I really didn't do anything special. I was one of the many unpaid extras there, and just went up to sit with a group I was walking in with (my wife baled at the last minute due to finishing up packing for our move) we sat over in a corner section just over where the Tumblers came out and this casting person and producer type were scanning the crowd for people. They looked up at us and said we were to come with them. We went up a level on the elevator and were told to see the ast director at the green screen.
Did three different shots for the national anthem, and seven different angles for the touch down. Then we went to new seats that were in the front row over the Tumbler entrance. They made the people sitting there move somewhere else. From there we had the camera on us a few more times. Mostly for reactions to the bombs and to Bane coming out. I am still sore from running up the stairs and from diving for cover so many times.
You will not miss my section if it stays in, you will see me with a black and gold knited blanket in front of me on the rail.
I can't wait for this movie.

That's not liberation though. And if the "instrument of their liberation" is an instrument of destruction, then "liberation" isn't meant to be taken literally.
"Only a cynical man would call what these people have "lives", Wayne. Crime. Despair. This is not how man was supposed to live."
"We are back to finish the job."
"Over the ages, our weapons have grown more sophisticated. With Gotham, we tried a new one: Economics."
"If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart."
And what is it that Talia is rumored to do to Batman?
So yeah. I think this is their new, modified weapon and tactic. And they're back to finish the job. Sadly.

Maybe, but I think there will be way more to it. Especially since Bane is such a driven man I have this feeling that there will be betrayal and he is using Talia for his means, not the other way around. But instruments of destruction can be used as bluffs, and threats more then total annihilation like the LOS want. So I just don't see it playing out that way. Just as much as a gun is used for destruction its the purpose of it, one can use it as bluffs and threats. To me they are playing deep into Bane's chess like mannerisms, I think he has a full plan and strategy of what he wants to do.

Unless he IS apart of the LoS and he shares their teachings and philosophies. And since he's with Talia, that's looking more and more likely unfortunately.
It could be totally different, but I'm starting to think it isn't.
EDIT: Or hell, maybe Bane thinks they're going to rule over the city with the threat of the Earthquake machine, but Talia is really going to destroy the city. To carry on her father's legacy. Just like Ra's and Scarecrow where Scarecrow thought they were going to hold the city to ransom but Ra's really wanted to destroy it.

Yeah I can see it playing out for part of the film that Bane appears to be part of Talia's scheme of getting revenge for her father but later turns out Talia is actually a pawn to a much greater dangerous scheme made by Bane which ends with Bane disposing of Talia and follows a path that even the LOS would question... kind of like the mob and Joker

The only time I recall Bane ever having green skin was B&R. Never comics.
Dave, my friend, that was my point: That Bane was finally being portrayed in the way I felt he deserved on film, not in the way he was shown to be in B&R (a green skinned, grunting oaf). I am sorry if I was not clear enough on what I meant when it comes to that within my original post.

Just got back a few hours ago from Pittsburgh after doing the Heinz field shoot Saturday. What an experience. I'm sure I can't add anything that hasn't already been said but the highlights for me were definitely seeing Chris Nolan, Hardy as Bane, and the three tumblers in person.
It was unbearably hot and uncomfortable but I'm very glad I was there. Probably the coolest being an extra thing was having the armed mercenaries marching down the steps in my section and telling us all to get back in our seats. That and having the same armed mercenaries opening the doors for me after going to the restroom. What gentlemen. :yay:
And being able to hear Bane's voice for the first time was incredible. Sounded like Emperor Palpatine a bit to me with labored breathing.

That one has to be astronomical. The group I was with did some math, I had 6 waters over the course of the day, say 5 is average. That's roughly 70,000 bottles of water alone. Not to mention all the hotdogs, cheeseburgers, pretzels, chips, fruit etc.

I just got back from the 7 hour drive from Pitts (went to the Pirates game today). I'm sure its been discussed to hell and back, but Bane's voice is very awkward, close to terrible IMO. He sounds like an old Irish/English man crossed with Darth Vader's breathing. Nothing at all of what I was expecting or hoping for. Then again, it was only 4 lines of dialogue, so perhaps it sounds better with more.
Also did they film again Sunday? There was no mention of it from BIM, and I didn't notice anything whenever I looked over at Heinz when I had a view.
Anyway I was in the 5th row behind the goal post on Saturday and right in front of the camera from the last IMAX shot, so hopefully there's a great chance of me being visible in the film!

It is VERY interesting that you say that sir. Very interesting indeed.
Why? Because bat-fans who were present have varying opinions of what he sounded like? I don't mean to assume, but it appears you might be trying to prove something by pointing this out.. so felt the need to comment.
It is welcome to see varied opinions of the voice from those who were actually there, although most that have come in so far have had overall positive or hopeful things to say - and have pointed out details which we certainly can't hear in the audio.
That being said, good or bad - it is essential to pay attention to what those who were present can offer, and moreso the details given so we can draw our own conclusions.
What Steyin points out about the amount of dialogue is important, as I imagine that you can't get the best idea of what the voice sounds like with just a few short lines. Need to allow the full range of it to come out.
I'm really curious to hear more.

The more I listen to the Bane audio the more intrigued I become. It's a completely unexpected voice, but it's also an interesting one. It has me thinking about the circumstances surrounding it and how his voice got to that point. Alone it could be a putoff, but in context it likely says something about his character.

They've already confirmed in an interview that most of (if not all) Hardy's lines will be re-dubbed in post. But it would probably be best to keep the Bane voice convos to the Bane thread, just so it doesn't overwhelm all the other threads. Even though it kind of already has:oldrazz:

The one where he was going on about how when Nolan asked him if he wanted to be in his movie and if he'd be okay with wearing a mask he was like "You want me to follow you around the world and film a Batman movie, and the only drawback is wearing a mask. Let me get back to you...No, F**k yes I'm in!" or something like that. In the article they talk about how you can barely hear what Hardy says while he's filming, and how he'd have to like give Bale a thumbs up or wink when he was done with his lines, and they mention that the majority of his audio would be done in post.
Edit: It was for Total Film. The have the scans of the full article in one of the Bane threads (don't know if it's the current one). You have to read the article to catch the spot about it. Chris's website has some snippets from it, and it mentions Hardy talking about how you can't hear what he's saying, but it doesn't have the direct quote of them mentioning the majority of his lines would be dubbed in post production. The writer puts that in right after that blurb.

No, he never said it would be done in post. What he said, was that Bale couldn't hear him, cause he was wearing the Bat-cowl, and Bale couldn't see Hardy's mouth in the mask, so they had to do some signs. It never said that there would be overdubs in post production, unless I mis-read, and someone wants to prove me otherwise.......

It's in the full article. Right after the blurb where he talks about how Bale couldn't hear him, the writer puts in that most of his lines will be dubbed in post. I read the full thing when someone on here posted scans of the entire article.

Nowhere in that article does it mention doing post on Bane's voice. Also, what Hardy is talking about is Bale not being able to hear or read Hardy's lips, while in the Bat costume. When you're in the bat costume you can barely hear anything; Christian has to read the actors' lips in order to react; he can't do that with Bane because his mouth is covered. Nowhere, and I repeat nowhere in the article does it mention post voice work.

I've been trying to find the scans, but I can't find which old Bane thread they were in:csad:
But I'm positive I read that in there. Someone posted about five scans, that had every picture and the entire article printed from the magazine. Not just a few quotes from it (which is why you can't see what I'm talking about brainsmasher). If anyone has the scans and they would like to post them again it would be appreciated, or has Total Film and feels like scanning it.
But unless I'm completely losing my mind, I'm sure there was a direct line in there stating that the majority of Hardy's lines would be done in post production. I remember thinking about that, because I remember when Ledger died a big concern was if Nolan would have to try and get some voice actors in because everyone was wondering if the audio from the set shots would be good enough.
And really, you'd have to redo his audio. If Bale can't hear what he's saying and he's standing next to him, there's no way in heck a boom mic is going to get good sound out of it.

It is true! They're double sided, so you only get two physical posters. They are The Dark Knight Rises with Sherlock Holmes on the other side and on the second poster is The Amazing Spider-Man teaser with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on the other side.
They aren't that big, they're probably just a bit smaller than A3.
Hmm, now to get this back on topic....I'm sure you can buy this magazine with the TDKR poster in Pittsburgh. (That ought to do it)

Guys, most films replace most of the dialogue through ADR. It's pretty common place as a technique. It just depends on how much. With the IMAX sequences in Knight, all of the production dialogue was replaced in ADR.
I wouldn't worry about Bane's voice. It'll get altered, cleaned up, etc. in post. It's just part of the nature of filmmaking these days...especially since he's wearing a mask...

I have a strong feeling that the voice everyone heard was a red herring. They will probably do Banes voice completely by overdubbing. I cant see him sounding that terrible AND sounding like a guy in a cheap mask.
They might dub some of his lines or alter his voice a bit, be I don't think he was doing a fake voice just to screw with people. If they knew in advance they were just going to dub it why bother actually blasting his lines for the whole crowd to hear? Not playing his audio over the loudspeaker and just telling everyone to look afraid probably gets the same result...they wanted to record the live audio over the stadium PA for a reason, which means those of you expecting him to sound totally different are probably going to be let down.

Hey guys...just got back after many hours of driving from the Heinz Field scene in Pittsburgh. It was a lot of work to get there and sit in the heat for hours, but worth it! Does everyone have the basic details about the scene. I have to say, Bane and his voice really creeped us out. It was very unhinged and not something you'd expect for a villain. I am 100% confident that Tom Hardy will deliver the goods for this role after being there in person!
In case anybody doesn't have the lines he says: "Gotham...take control of your city. Here is the instrument of your liberation...Identify yourself to the world:"

What's sad is that it's not even one of the jerseys that the players wore but a t-shirt (one of hundreds) that they threw into the crowd. And one of the shirts has already sold on ebay for $500 - try searching for "gotham rogues" in completed items.
Unfortunately, I wasn't sitting anywhere near where they threw them. So if anyone has one they're looking to sell for a reasonably inflated price, hit me up with a PM. I offered a kid $30 and then $50 for his but he refused. :woot:

Details on Sunday's shoot: http://www.wpxi.com/vj/28697651/detail.html
Sunday, Aug. 7 (Heinz Field) Filming continued for the second and final day inside of Heinz Field on Sunday, with the main scene focusing on the explosion of one of the stadium's suites.
While more than 10,000 extras were used on Saturday, only around 700 were asked to return for Sunday's shoot. Most were dressed as fans, while some played the role of photographers, food and beverage vendors or business people. Some even got to do work in front of a green screen. The only prop the extras were allowed to take home, and not everyone got one, was one of the Gotham Rogues bandannas. Wonder what the film will do with the rest of the cool gear?
Several IMAX cameras were used to film the destruction of suite, which presumably held the mayor of Gotham City, or another important Gotham official. We'll have to wait to see the movie to know if he was able to escape safely. Stunt men and women, along with a small group of extras, were also part of the fiery shot.
Bane and his mercenaries also returned on Sunday and more shots were filmed as Bane made his entrance onto the field.
Noticeably absent from both days of filming at Heinz Field was the star of the show, Batman. If I had to guess, though, I'd say Bane won't go unpunished for this assault against Gotham City.

So... Bane's voice is the new "gotta ***** about" thing? I remember people complaining about Ledgers voice and his "ticks" as well.
Some still hate Bale's voice.
He sounded fine to me. He's obviously not a Luchador... so... I didn't expect him to sound Spanish.

Worst interview ever, and I hate to tell you, but they were so making fun of you without you knowing it....
no they weren't. one of the guys actually acted like he knew more about the film and the spoilers than Chris did. Of course Chris was holding back so as not to spoil too much. I'm sure he knew that the Tumblers were Bane's and most likely acquired from Wayne enterprises with the help of Miranda/Talia.

Thanks! Interesting about the suite part. It looks like they don't know either who was inside. I wonder if they were asked not to reveal it or they just didn't know? Maybe whoever is inside the suite will be shot inside a studio with green screen?

I drove 5 hours from Canada to be part of the Heinz stadium scene, and it was 100% worth it.
I got the yellow under armour Rogues t-shirt and that made my day. Super interesting event.
It was also cool to shout out to Hardy and actually have him acknowledge and wave at me and my brother. When he was incognito at first, no one really knew he was there or who he was until I shouted his name lol. And even still, a few people around me were like "who is Tom Hardy?"
So I'm guessing a lot of people there were more Steeler's fans than they were Batman fans lol, because I also heard some guys talking about Bane as if they had no idea who he was and some girl asked if Christian Bale was the actor playing Batman lol
Also saw people throwing comics around which made me sad, because I would have loved to win some comic books and others were just taking it for granted

I feel the same way. There definitely were more steelers fans than anything. They were complaining about how hot it was and when it would be over. Someone next to me won a comic and didn't think anything of it. The True batman fans There sucked it up and would have done it over again in 100 degree heat. Heck it was an 8 hour ride for me the day before and saturday was my bday and getting a shirt made it even better
I'm thinking it was him more than anyone. When Bane said (to him) "Identify yourself!", I think he put the mic up to his mouth, but we didn't hear him say anything. Or at least I heard nothing.

You're telling me. My section virtually didn't exist when they were throwing them out. One section next to us got about 4 boxes of shirts tossed to them. The one on our other side had about the same. Us? 3 shirts. And they went to either the front row or past our last row. I even heard some people were leaving with 2-3 shirts. Argh!

Nice to hear you had a great time DK7! I would have killed to be in the stadium shoot, but it's my fault for not signing up quick enough. After it was apparent that we weren't going to get the call back for the shoot, we decided to drive into Pittsburgh anyway and catch part of the filming at CMU on Friday instead.
Drove in from Indiana Friday morning with my wife, cousin and his wife.
Missed the early stuff, including the Selina/bat-pod stunt.
Got to see some more shots for the riot at Gotham City Hall.
Got to see the bat-pod and Tumblers close up. Got really, REALLY close to the Tumblers as they put them away. Well worth the trip itself!! :word:
We got some decent videos and pics, but it's not anything you guys haven't already seen so I'm not rushing to get it uploaded.
Met the professional paparazzi guys. Pretty nice. There were three of them there, competing with each other. They were only there to get a shot of Anne in costume, but WB beat them to it and they weren't that happy about it. LOL When Anne came strolling out in her white dress, they were fighting to get a shot of her. One of them jumped in the other's way and he yelled "You jumped in my f'n shot man. Next time get the eff out of the way." Hahaha... Pretty entertaining.
Met Subaru. (Subaru, I was the guy in the gold Paddy's Pub shirt) Very nice guy! Thanked him for providing the videos and pics for those who couldn't make it. Funny story... Subaru kind of got stuck talking to an older gentleman, who was asking him every-single-question-in-the-book. LOL. My wife laughed and we felt bad for him, but there wasn't much we could do to save him. :woot:
Missed meeting Batman11, if you're out there bro maybe some other time.

Our section was perpendicular to the end zone (the corner where the Tumblers exited off the field from). If I had to put a yard line to my seat it would've been within the first few yards from the end zone.

What was your start time Milkman? Mine was 6:15. My cab was early (getting there about 6am), but we didn't encounter any traffic coming in from near SW of downtown.
Mine was 6:15am as well, and we got there Friday night, but we got downtown around 6:00am and hit that traffic, ended up getting to the Stadium around 8:00am.

Wait for the pics on the official website. The guy coming around taking pics said to search BIG CROWD PRODUCTIONS...so I did and it's on the BeInAMovie.com website, there is also a link on their main page which brings you here

And that's where the images will be posted, I just got an e-mail saying it is going to take 5-10 days

I think I was in 121/122 (don't recall), but 5 rows back from the field goal post. The IMAX camera landed right on us during that last shot, so I'd say I have a fairly good chance of being in the film, I hope :word:
I posted one of Yurka's photos a few pages back with me circled. We were one of the sections that got gypped on the t-shirts.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good those impressions were.
His girlfriend was the second worst thing about the entire day, the first being that singing competition thing.
Was it just me or did his girlfriend seem really snobby?

Whose girlfriend are you talking about? I'm confused
She (Rebbekah(sp?)) seemed okay to me. Although before the shoot she came to our section saying she was our "leader". We never heard from her again except from being on the field for the raffles.

About the filming at Trinity Cathedral:
http://www.trinitycathedralpgh.org/
BATMAN GOES TO CHURCH – The latest Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movie is currently filming in Pittsburgh. Trinity Cathedral is among the many Pittsburgh locations selected for filming. Specifically, the crew will shoot scenes in our choir room and fellowship hall. None of our worship spaces will be filmed.
The setup, film shoot, and wrap-up will in no way alter our worship schedule or locations–with one exception: the Noon Eucharist on Wednesday, August 10, will be cancelled. Our Sunday schedule of services will be unaffected. However, do note that from Saturday, August 6 through Friday, August 12 we may have to be flexible about access to Oliver Avenue, some rearranged decor, and other surprises we haven’t anticipated yet. Having that said, the director and entire production staff have been most accommodating in their work with the Cathedral so far.

Im happy theyre shooting at the Trinity Cathedral, theres been a Gothic element missing from the Nolan pictures that I hope is utilized from Pittsburgh's architecture. One frustrating aspect though is that the Trinity Cathedral is literally right next to a much more Gothic and intriguing looking church IMO.

I think the film crew will use this as an entrance for the batcave......
Looking at the sub-articles in that link, I had no idea Bill Cowher is slated to be the Gotham coach. This will be fun to see, lol.

My "favorite" part of the T-shirt throwing was when Dante spent like 5 minutes asking for the kids in the crowd and looking for a kid to give a shirt to. Hello? The age limit was 14 and he kept going on and on looking for kids to give shirts too. I wish someone would have just told him there were virtually no kids.
And as far alot of people being there who weren't very Batman knowledgeable I listened to a five minute conversation where people were trying to figure out who's playing Batman in this movie. Oy vey.
Oh and I like how that know email from beinamovie encourages people to share videos and pictures when we weren't even supposed to bring a camera or we'd be kicked out. Hypocrites. Oh well. I still had a nice time. :)

Wow, the guy (Chris B.) from Batmannews.com did a terrible job on the radio. The radio guy asked him what the deal was with the camo tumblers and Chris meekly replied, "I don't know." WTF?! Dude had a chance to plug Batman Begins and totally blew it. The camo tumblers are the original batmobiles before Bruce paints them black (remember Batman Begins?). They are military prototype vehicles designed by Wayne R & D department. Bane obviously steals them, with the help of Talia aka Miranda Tate. Come on, Chris B.!!! Get your **** together!!!

We went to Heinz to check out the scene. Wanted to catch a glimpse of the field, but to no avail. :csad:
Overall, great trip and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Hey, yeah it was great to meet you guys! That old guy wouldn't stop, I said goodbye and 10 seconds later he ran up to me again! Lol, but I managed to break away about 10 minutes after you guys left.
