How about:
Guillermo Del Toro (dark fantasy approach)
Steven Spielberg (batman's origin reflected upon through robin's origin story)
AnorexicBatman

Joss Whedon. The most girl power Batman movie ever.
Godzilla2014

David Fincher (Seven/Se7en)
OR
Michael Mann (Heat, Public Enemies)

Darren Aronofsky
David Cronenberg
David Lynch
Terry Gilliam
Zac Snyder
John Carpenter
All will be very interesting, but I think Darren will make the best film.
David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network)
Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men)
Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)
Neill Blomkamp (District 9)
If you one day want to introduce Batgirl then Joss Whedon is the guy for the job.

Didn't he want to do it back in the late 80s/early 90s? I think he couldn't get the rights to use either Batman or the Shadow, so he made Darkman. Do I have the story straight?

Duncan Jones
Ahem, it's Nicolas Winding Refn. :cwink:
I don't know who I would like to see next as the director for the reboot, but maybe Darren Aronofsky, since he was at one point close to directing a Batman movie before Nolan came on-board.

That would be the most logical way to go. Bring in Aronofsky, and let him do ONE film. Just one.
Then it's time for a team-up film.

Fincher
Del Toro
Cronenberg
Cuaron
Unless Aronofsky completely ditches his "Year One" concept, I want him nowhere near Batman.

gendy tartkovoski gets my vote. so what kind of batman do we want to see next? the franchise has gone through a whole spectrum of approaches. we've gone from 60's camp to pulp/noir, then to german expressionism, back to sixties camp, then to a gritty realistic take. what's next for the caped crusader? I'd like to see a more high tech batman, kind of like a cyberpunk approach, but not too futuristic. and also i'd like to see more of his intellect being showcased, he's the worlds greatest detective, time he's portrayed as such. we got a glimpse of this TDK, but he was going off the work of Lucius Fox a lot of the time.

Agreed! Aronofsky's version felt more like another character loosely based on Batman to me. Fincher would make a great choice. From what I've seen of his work, namely Se7en, his style perfectly compliments the crime drama element I prefer Batman sticks to.Still,I'd be open to see what other directors would do with the more sci-fi based characters like Clayface and Mr.Freeze.

Sam Raimi
:D
:doom: :doom: :doom:
Raimi's Batman 1- Tobey Maguire as the Dark Knight vs Willen Defoe as the Joker who instead of wearing make up and a purple suit, wears a Power Ranger-like helmet and armor. Bruce Wayne becomes an orphan after Joe Chill kills his parents while trying to carjack a1973 yellow Oldsmobile Delta
88 . Harvey Dent is mentioned but never shown.
Raimi's Batman 2-Batman vs Alfred Molina as father figure turned enemy Ra's Al Ghul. Batman is unmasked while stopping a train from crashing into Wayne Indusries. Fortunately for him, nobody on the train decides to take a picture of him without his mask thus adding a fantasy element to the series.Dylan Baker is introduced as Harvey Dent. Ra's daughter Talia played by Kirsten Dunst learns that Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Raimi's Batman 3. After a steroid inexplicadly falls from the sky,Bruce Wayne becomes a dancing fool seeking revenge on Joe Chill's partner, the real killer of his parents, the sympathetic Victor Fries who now commits crime in order to save the life of his dying wife. After Harvey Dent tells Bruce that the steroid can cause harmful side effects he stops and Bane, played by Topher Grace becomes a menace to the Caped Crusader. With Talia's help,Batman defeats Bane and Mr.Freeze.

It depends on the quality of Mission Impossible 4.

I think people suggesting names like Spielberg, Jackson, Cameron, even Fincher, Del Toro, Aronofsky are being unrealistic. They're more likely to get a guy with a solid background in quality films, who has yet to break out with a massive blockbuster smash, like with Nolan, and even Burton was known more for cult hits at the time. My favorite pick out of the choices suggested so far would probably be Tomas Alfredson.
