You know that was CGI, right? Alba was wearing a bra and panties when they shot that shower scene, and Rodriguez had his CGI artists "remove" her clothing.
I fear CGI nudity will become the norm for actors unwilling to do nude scenes.
PWN3R
08-19-2011, 10:46 PM
Yeah, I read about this after I saw the movie. I had no clue, pretty believable. It's lame of Rodriguez, if the actress isn't willing, do something else.
mclay18
08-19-2011, 11:15 PM
The shower scene in Machete is more believably done than the obvious CGI used to nude up Leslie Mann and Olivia Wilde in The Change-Up. Talk about awkward.
If you want an actor for a certain role that requires nudity, try to get an actor who's willing to bare it all. For actors: don't use a body double or CGI if you really want the role -- if the script and director requires a nude scene and if it's appropriate to the tone of the movie, just do it. You're not the only actor who has nude screen grabs online.

It has a complete script, a budget and a green light. It's Rodriguez's next film.
Octoberist
08-20-2011, 12:24 AM
we will see won't we?
Because he and Eli Roth have a nasty habit of talking a lot about projects, saying this or that will be next and nothing happens. It's like how Todd McFarlene mentions Spawn 2 at least every year in the past decade. Tarantino use to do it but not anymore.
Majik1387
08-20-2011, 12:25 AM
Considering how fast Machete was made, I don't see this one taking much longer.
Octoberist
08-20-2011, 12:28 AM
To be honest I would rather see him taking on Sin City 2 first. I'm just a little jaded on Robert; he's just very erractic and the qualities of his movies as of late has been inconsistent. I still like him though.
PWN3R
08-20-2011, 12:41 AM
Jaded is the right word. I don't hate him, but he's rather annoying with his choices. He has such an incredible story, but he hasn't really grown as a film maker. Spy Kids 4? Talk about cruise control.
Majik1387

MessiahDecoy123

The Spy Kids movies have all been very profitable up to the third movie. But I don't think the fourth one will match the success of the others.
I really do respect Rodriguez as genre director. His movies are almost always fun and different. Half of his filmography have high rewatchability which is more than I can say for most directors.

Neveldine/Taylor deserve to be thrown out of Hollywood for inflicting that piece of rancid s**t onto the world, as well as Gamer. Terrible writers and even worse directors.
Machete was a nice, pulpy throwback to 1970s grindhouse movies. And it was genuinely funny -- jazzy porn music, outrageous gore gags and all. Crank 2 is none of those things.
I happily welcome a Machete Kills if it's even half as fun as the first.

According to mclay's link here's the plot
The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.
Hopefully this one doesn't meander around with the political stuff.

Zoe Saldana joins the cast
Zoe Saldana is the latest name to join the cast of Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=80105). Leading man Danny Trejo let the information slip in a recent interview with Moviehole.
"[It's] is going to be a lot more over-the-top than 'Machete'," said Trejo. "We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Zoe Saldana. And guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em.”
The film is also said to include roles for Mel Gibson and Amber Heard in a storyline that sees ex-federale Machete (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop an arms dealer (Gibson) from launching a deadly missile.
Saldana recently finished production on the still-untitled Star Trek sequel (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=59944) and is now shooting Out of the Furnace (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=43180).
Machete Kills (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=80105) begins production soon in Austin, Texas.http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=90620

Preach brotha.
Here in holland they often show reruns of "The Nanny".
Although it's not my favorite show , from time to time i used to watch it. That little girl playing in the show also has a role in "Californication"
There's a scene were she's riding Duchovny's character....topless.
All i can say is that i felt really bad watching that scene.

Interesting reference to Austin Powers.
Majik1387
03-07-2013, 10:35 PM
While the most notable, Austin Powers was not the first to use a body part as a position for a gun. From Dusk Til Dawn predates Austin Powers with the penis pistol; which to me seems like a more viable reference than Austin Powers' fembots.
jonathancrane
03-07-2013, 10:38 PM
I have not seen From Dusk Til Dawn, sadly; but, I suspected there was a longer history of bodies as weapons. That was the first association that sprang to mind, sadly; but, considering Rodriguez's involvement with the film, that cements the association with the correct source (From Dusk TIll Dawn).
