Surprise guys and girls. I am Kal and I will be your guest host for this challenge! As you can see by the title, it's about Directing. Most Some Maybe one or two Directors out there are pretty smart, so this challenge will test your brain power. End tease.

Before we move forward, lets pour a 40 of Ent-draught for our beloved JH. You supposedly backed the wrong horse, and you paid the ultimate price. You made it far, but fell a bit short in the end. Live and learn my friend and better luck next time.

Oh, and RULES!!!

The Game

Hype! Survivor is a game of strategy, deception, and skill. Alliances are both permitted and encouraged. Make no allies or make many allies, it's all up to you. There are many different ways to win this game. Masterminding, forethought, and hard work are the keys to success. Laziness and ineffective play will both be exposed and punished. Although being lazy may be a strategy, not participating at all is not. If the players and hosts feel at any time that a certain player is no longer participating, they can be removed from the game without warning.

As a side note: alliances can be with any of the players. It doesn't matter who they are nor what tribe they're on, just make sure it's someone you trust...or not. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!


Challenges

Each tribe (or individual) will receive challenges marked by "Awards". Instructions for challenges will be explained for each challenge. Some challenges may require judging, some may be trivia, some may be skill. Expect a variety for your playing pleasure. The tribe (or person) who does the best, wins immunity and is therefore safe from elimination that round.


Tribal Council

During the team portion of the game, the tribe who performed best at the end of the 'Award' (or round) wins immunity. The losing tribes will then go to “Tribal Council” and eliminate 1 player from the game. They will be able to eliminate ANYONE from one of the losing tribes of the “Award.” Doesn't have to be one of your own.

In the case of a tie at tribal council, there will be a tie-breaker challenge between the players with the most votes. The winner of the tie-breaker will determine who stays. During the solo portion of the game a tie-breaker challenge will also be used. The player who does the best on the tie-breaker will be allowed to stay, the other player will be eliminated.

If a tribe (or player) happens to win first place three days in a row, then they'll be given a gift in addition to their immunity. They will go to tribal council on behalf of everyone by themselves and they'll vote off ANYONE IN THE GAME THAT THEY CHOOSE. This privilege is not static, but must be re-earned by winning another three challenges. This is the only time an immune team would vote. In all other cases, the immune team DOES NOT vote!!!

In order to have your votes counted, please send them to both Spider-Fan and Nirvana. Please do NOT send your votes in to any other name. You will only have one chance to vote. There will be no changing your vote once your vote is cast. Vote carefully! If you do not send in a vote in the given time frame, IT WILL COUNT AGAINST YOU. Meaning, it will be a vote for yourself.


Hosts

Your hosts have gone to great lengths to ensure fairness. Merges, shuffles, and so on have been set in place. Only the hosts will know about these days in advance. There will be additional twists and turns throughout the game, so do not get too cozy.

At times, individual judgment calls will need to be made. We understand that players will not always see eye-to-eye with hosts. HOWEVER, the hosts word is final. There will be no negotiating hard and fast rules, but all cases will be fairly heard. Rest assured, there is a hosting staff dedicated to handling the hosting responsibilities. If need be, we will even vote on matters for the sake of the game's integrity.

Furthermore, there are additional rules (for the host's eyes only). These have been set in place to help us with matters that may or may not arise. Please consult hosts before assuming anything. They may be able to help you out if you have a question.


Jury

The final Jury will be composed of seven people (everyone voted off from the remaining nine players who didn't make the finals). The Jury will then vote FOR WHO THEY THINK SHOULD WIN of the final two remaining players so we can crown the winner of the Hype! Survivor.


Cheating

A note on cheating: It's very easy to cheat in this game. Very, very easy. Some of the rounds will be much more difficult to cheat at than others (some will be downright impossible to cheat on). Regardless, hosts have ways of catching you and sometimes will even set up traps for you. If you feel you have to cheat, by all means, go ahead. But, if you're caught, you WILL be penalized. Again, specific rules of what's legal or not will be in each challenge PM.

One thing that is certainly NOT lawful under any circumstances is sharing usernames. Hosts (of which, one is a moderator) have the ability to check IPs, and if you are caught sharing usernames then a severe penalty will be handed out. Please be mindful of only using your OWN username for this game.

Team Forum

During the team portion of the game, all tribes will have their own subforum. This is where they can brainstorm on all challenges and leave notes for the rest of their team. Each of these will require a password to use. The password will be changed everytime someone is eliminated from your tribe. Each team member will be given the password to their own forum. However, these is no rule against sharing passwords with other teams. That is a legitimate strategy, and all players should be weary of it.

Team Captain

A team captain will be chosen before the start of each new "Issue". They will be chosen through a majority vote from the entire team. The team captain is responsible for submitting challenge answers or tasks. If they cannot do so during that time frame, they must post who will do so in their team forum or by sending a pm to BOTH hosts.

Moderators

I know mods have certain abilities they can't turn off. But, do not use mod powers to your advantage. This includes using the washroom, IP tracking, etc. Ask me to do all that stuff. Abuse of mod powers will be punished.

Misc.

Whilst these rules are set as the guidelines for this game, each challenge will set the rules for that specific day. What may be cheating one day, may not be another day. Reading is fundamental. Make sure you familiarize yourself with this information, and those in the challenges as well. Please note that at times an announcement might be needed to amend the existing rules of this game, or the rules in the challenge. Please look for these and note them. Each 'Award' is marked by a new challenge.

To make it fair, this challenge will require you all to be on at the same time, so please post (in this thread) what time(s) you are available to participate. Once a time is agreed upon, PM's will be sent! Good luck and congrats for making it this far!

The theme of the tourney tonight is Movies: Before and After. Shortly, I will send you 3 one sentence movie synopsis's. The first part of the synopsis describes one movie and the second part is another. The titles are connected by the same word.

An Example:

A family adopts a mouse and treats him as their son, while a little girl with a quirky family competes in a beauty pageant.

The answer is : Stuart Little Miss Sunshine

Simple enough, right? The first person from each bracket to PM me the correct answers, move on to the finals of the tourney. The winner of that, wins the precious Immunity!! Doubtful. The drama is fun, but it bleeds into 'real life' far to much. For an online forum knock-off (No offense, I love idea or I wouldn't have played) of a game based on lies, deceit and ruthlessness, people take it far to seriously and it's not worth having my integrity and character dragged through the mud when people can't separate 'reality' from a 'game'. :cwink:

Besides I accomplished what I wanted. My deal was that JH be voted off before me and so all-in-all I'm pleased with the game. :up:

As for twylight, she's not really done much of anything in this game. She's one a challenge or so, which is good, and what success we had in Team 1 was a mutual effort along with bullets and myself...

That's more accurate. JH is a good writer and definitely came through when he could . Twy did a lot for the team though and especially with some of the hard challenges.

And, again, dear twylight, one more time, let me explain,

I didn't understand why you wouldn't reply to someone that would be on the jury, with at least a kind-hearted rejection. Say "no, sorry" and throw your little sad faces and hearts around it. YOU ignoring my pm hurts YOU. Whether you wanted to go along with my scheme or how long we knew each other isn't the point... it's how you handled the situation. Then I was voted out and questioned you with full respect and TACT, and you responded with some of the worst jury management you'll see from a potential finalist. Your whole "I owe you nothing" to me and "wait, I have to explain my actions!?" to JH made you the biggest goat in this game.

So you talking about UL's tact is nuts, considering he would have probably blown you out in a final vote. He may not be articulate, but he has certainly been more tactful than you.

It's nothing personal at all, it's me questioning your gameplay. Nothing against you as a person in "real life" or on this forum. Maybe you're the one that has a hard time separating which is which. :huh:

Not really, you seem a decent guy even though I didn't really get to know you. Which is a pity, I would have liked to have known you. :csad: I'd probably taken the time to answer you if you'd taken the time to initiate contact before you wanted the vote.

I still stand by my goatish attitude. I don't/didn't owe you or anyone else in the game anything because it's just that, a game. I was contacted by a few people in the beginning to be in various alliances. I answered all of them and never got anything back. So I didn't think it was a big deal.

Also I think it's obvious now that my endgame wasn't winning the game, so the jury didn't matter to me :cwink:

I hope I can get to know you as a person now, and not a player. :yay:

School. :) And I did have time to answer, but not much. So I came back, cast my vote and then checked my PM's and figured since they were no longer valid, it no longer mattered and I wasn't worried about the jury anyway since I knew I wasn't sticking around... I just find it funny that people were all *rawr* about my gameplay which shouldn't have concerned them anyway because it was just that my gameplay. I do admit it was a bit rude of me not to answer, but like I said, I figured it didn't matter.

I still stand by my goatish attitude. I don't/didn't owe you or anyone else in the game anything because it's just that, a game. I was contacted by a few people in the beginning to be in various alliances. I answered all of them and never got anything back. So I didn't think it was a big deal.

Also I think it's obvious now that my endgame wasn't winning the game, so the jury didn't matter to me :cwink:

when your gameplay doesn't fit what someone else wants, thats when people have problems with is haha

i know you may have a slightly bad taste in your mouth about this game but after time winds down i hope you reconsider not ever playing again. i've been through my fair share of heated times in games. on lsp i'm pretty sure i told someone that if they died i wouldn't care after the verbal vomit they started spewing at me, but i can laugh about it now. i can't even keep track of how many games i've played so far, but it's always the creativity of the challenges that brings me back, and i think you probably enjoyed those most of all too.

oh i like drama for the most part. if i was watching, i'd think the paranoia and rumors whatnot would keep me interested and intrigued, as well as the challenges themselves. the first game i remember following was the game Bella won.

it'd just been a while since i've seen such a strong franting like the one jewhob just had and that is sure to boost ratings but it still hurts when you put in so much time to play a game only to get cut before you get to where you want to be. but you viewers at home seem to like the pain :argh:

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I still wanted to drop by and congratulate ComicChick for winning immunity. When I first read how the challenge was going to work, I thought it not only sounded pretty easy, but really fun too. But looking at what you guys had to answer, I don't know that I would have done all that great. But it really did look like fun.

Anyway, congrats to CC, Ultra Lantern and Byrd Man. I can't wait to see ETM's reaction when he finds out Byrd Man is in the final 3.:awesome:

It wasn't, but the last one was.. omg in 2006-7ish? It was the Arrested Development one and I *think* I was on a team with Movies205. I was voted off within the first few weeks because I literally didn't have a clue and didn't know anyone other than Matt. This one I had a better chance since I had helpers explaining to me what the flowers was going on. Still fuzzy on the alliance stuff obviously. :o But I knew I wouldn't make the finals, so I wasn't worried.

That was my first one as well. I think I was kicked out after the second or third challenge.

My second game was Survivor 30, the last one. Managed to come in sixth place in that one. So, if nothing else, I make it farther along with every game.
