And i will answer your mails the next days... lot to do the last days at home.
@All: I donīt know, if i can make pics of the premiere... cause i will enjoy the hype alone... none of my friends are here on this day. So nobody could take some pics from me.
But may be some guy from the newspaper will be there...
We will see...

Try taking your cam with you. I wished I had mine the night I went. There were lots of people taking pics with me. One girl tried to do the kiss scene but with a peck thru the mask. *lol* :spidey:

Hi Blaze... sure... i will take my cam with me.
But iīve thought about another problem... same problem like spidey always have it:
Where to put my money and other things?
You now... no pockets in the costume... :)

Well Martin what you can do is, get a small camera bag to haul the camera in and also it should have a place for you to zip up your money as well. That is what I did when I was around in suit.

Hi guys,
This is Brin from The Brotherhood of the Bat costume and prop board.:batman:
I'm starting on my Venom costume and I was wanting to make the skin of the suit look like it's swirling, or flowing, some type of texturing process. I was think either brushing latex over the suit, or painting it in swirls and basically just going nuts all over it with black fabric paint. I really don't want a smooth spandex look. What do you think?

Brin, I have a suggestion for your textured venom costume. I too am from the brotherhood of the bat page and have tried many different materials to make a batsuit. Because I'm only 18 and have limited means of income, I tried cheap alternatives such as poster board, foam craft sheets and things like that. I once did up a complete muscle suit in paper mache that looked really cool but didn't have the smooth appearance that I wanted for batman. Here's what I suggest. Make the suit out of paper mache and sand it a little. This will give it a smooth appearance with inperfections and some rough spots. You can even run the sand paper in swirling directions if you want that look. Then, coat it with polyurethane to waterproof it and make a mold of it. pour latex into the mold and you have yourself a textured body suit. For the mask, I suggest making it two peices. Do the full head and upper jaw and then cast the lower jaw seperate. That way, you can open and close the mouth and keep the overall look of venom.

What method of construction are you using? Is it a spandex suit or some other deal? If you need any help with anything, just let me know. I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out ( If you're willing to take advice from a guy who once super glued his hand to a piece of plexiglass. lol ) My e-mail is dorcphish@hotmail.com

hey brin, you were at dragoncon right? i was cyclops! good luck with the venom suit, if you use a latex mask, black spandex pvc will match right up with the latex, and easy to paint on swirls too.

:spidey: hi guys, i came across a brilliant product in my local hobby shop, a 3d fabric paint that is so easy to use for 3d webbing and looks exactly like the movie suit, its called jones tones, for use on stretch fabrics, it comes in hundreds of colours
i used the gloss black but i am currently testing a pearlessent black wich looks black but turns silver in a certain light just like spidey! this stuff is not the puffy paint its way better than that and its only Ģ2.40 a bottle, wich was enough for two masks!!
theres also dylon 3d wich is very similar but a bit thicker and the bottle is a sod to use you only get half the amount for 50p more as well!

I guess I can Answer for PeterParker0077, Well yes that was him Wildelros. I saw the pic of him in his Cyclops suit. Actually I went to visit him in Florida when I was on vacation there a few months ago. Really nice Family. His room (Well I wont get into that)- I am not all that neat myself:D But it is like a shrine for any comic book fan, or martial artist. "A true hero, I think he is , hoohoohoohoo", As Master Jedi Yoda might say.
If you guys ever get a chance to meet PeterParker0077 in person, believe me he will make you believe in real down to earth superheros. I just hope to get some where near his level someday. His commitment to what he does, I just can put into finer words. "Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his is the most Superhero.":) - A little mix from James T. Hi! my name is Sam. I've admired all of your work ever since I found this forum. I am starting work on my very own costume(don't worry, I don't "borrow" anything [even ideas] unless I get permission from the person first.) that will be a sort of cross between spidey unlimited, spidey 2099, and the movie. ANY tips you guys could give( eye material especialy) would be greatly appriciated.
P.S. I am only 14 and was unemployed 2 years ago, keep that (have less than $100!!) in mind when you post tips.:spidey:
P.P.S. my computer is'nt exactly up to speed so any pics to make me jealous of anyone talent will have to be sent to me directly @ DAVDSAK@cs.com:venom:
running out of P.S.'s any patterns for spidey suits would help greatly( so far I've just gone one step at a time).

Yes wild I do remember you posting something on one the forums, of that Creeper Costume. You had a Captian America that didn't look to bad either. Pete0077, I can do backfilps in water, but I'm still am practicing to get it right. To all who know me, I'm now down to 307 pounds from 327 pounds back in April. I'm working on being a better spiderguy before I get the perfect spidey suit. It a challenge I never thought i could follow thru with. I making and keeping with it, Day by Day and Month By Month. Mick I hope things are well with you and hope you get some time out of your hetic schedule to say Hi.

Hey that quote works for me Lars:D
And PeterParker0077, hey you deserved those comments, I rightfully gave them to you because you are my motivation that gets me through the tough days, and keeps me going on the rode to my dreams:)
Also Yetter, and Mike are like my big brothers, you two have been there for me also as I was going through some itchy corporate stuff. But all is right at the moment, still kicking butt in the gym, and now entering the phase of my semi-bodybuilder Competion dieting next week. D*mn I hate that part:mad: The Gym is bad enough :D But all in all, everything that I am doing has a higher purpose, and I plan to follow through.

SpiderGeek, Im gonna tell you right now for my body, rushing the weight loss doesnt help me. My body is just set a certian way that quick for me, also means gain of weight. I have alot of time to learn that mistake. I'll talk to you personally when I get a chance. To those of you who want eye ideas, I think the white mesh idea is cool and some of the eyewear on ebay also gives a good idea on how the eyes should look. I also know in the how to on Germanspider's site he has a step by step process to make the eyes. Also at http://members.aol.com/mzw8/mw8spidey.com where the designer is using a charcol gray fine mesh for the eyes. they really look good as well for a costume. I have no idea how to make a mask but i think someone mention something a couple of pages ago. So I think there is plenty of info on this paticualr thread for how to do the eyes.

May be, you should aks me? :)
Ok... how i did it:
First mark the webbing with thin (3mm) adhesive tape. After that draw the web with a thin pen.
Afterwards remove the tape, mix the liquid latex and apply it carefully. You have to work really carefully... one mistake with the latex and you can ruin your costume.
@All: Iīve received a lot of mails with questions about the white stuff iīve used for the eyes. I canīt find any exact description about it.
I have simply gone to a hobby shop and have looked. Then in the shelves for the Window Color accessories I found something. A little bit milky plastic film... approx. 2-3 mms thickly. I have found the material for the black rim of the eye and the spider in an office-shop. Simply a black desk pad. The foam material at the back remove and cut.
Hope this help anybody...

Spidergeek, I appreciate you wanting to help and you dont have to be sorry. I just didn't want to drag to much of my weight loss journey onto this thread too much. You know just an update for my friends every once in awhile. Unless Mick and others really want to see that happen on this thread. I mean this thread is too talk more about making a perfect spidey suit. I'm glad for this thread too, keeps my Spidey dreams somewhat alive. All I can do really is suggest ways of finding info on how to make the costume. I got to be honest and say that I'm going to for sure let someone else, make me the perfect spidey suit. I do not have the neccasary talent to make it myself. Email me though at Lsqard916@aol.com and let me know if your on Yahoo or AOL, would just love to chat. I do thank everyone for there help so far in wanting to help me. So don't give up on that and I won't either. I think My doctor and I have the whole health situation under control for now. and I think I got an idea of who to turn to, when the time comes to having a suit made for me. If I do get somewhere stuck along the line, I have plenty of real and online friends, I can talk to about things.

You will loose some weight and i have to work for more muscles to fill my next costume more like spidey.

saw movie and have assembled a six word conclusion based on my own opinions:
good movie, sweet costume, bad casting:P
redesigned details to costume hybrid will look much cooler than first many designs
desided on black mesh for eyes, 2 resones: 1) brings out spidey2099's eye outline 2) it's so original
thinking to self i wonder how many people pon this board count spidey clones at night instead of sheep? no reply expected.

Is there any 24 hour superhero-costume rental or something else? :)

His costume was damaged in the fight in the burning house... whops... next day itīs ok.

Yep... that scene was in the trailer. Just to show the swinging around... it really looks cool.
But in the movie it was changed. It was in his first days beeing a hero and it wouldnīt beleivable, if he could do such a perfect jump.

:D hi spidergeek nice to see the young blood getting involved
if its a mask pattern you need check out dorcphishes pattern making tip a page or so back, its a realy good method that works
very well, as for eye material for the eye lenses here are a couple of cheap tips, for white lenses try using the fine aluminium screen material(available at car accesorie shops, you will find it near the filler etc.) cut it to the shape you want then give it a brush with gloss white acrylic paint, making sure not to block the holes in the screen, sew or glue or both to your eye surrounds. the surrounds can be made of many different things from p.v.c , felt, or something i really like is black flock fablon sewn to the spandex.
alternatively you could rip the lenses out of a suitable pair of glasses for the mirror look, there are much better materials you could use, but these are the cheapest i could think of.:spidey:

thank you mrj I really like that kind of straight forward answer. I made the head cast ( that's what it looks like too) and learnd some VERY important things
1) never, NEVER use masking tape instead of ductape
2) come to think of it, use only ductape
3) make absolutly positive you can take it off w/out surgury
today I looked at patterns for my costume (the only one they had close enough was a laidies unitard, please dont comment[ but feel free to, i need some humor about this one;)])( if one of you have a better idea i'd love to hear it) I'll just have to be a little creative w/ the gloves & boots also all my detail patterns are done( it looks nifty ;))
it's gettin there.

Martin I thank you for taking a look at my photos and thanks for kind compliments. I also have to say Martin, that I'm very impressed with your new photos and the costume is still looking great. I'm still scratching my head, trying to figure out how you did them. It really makes me believe in Spidey after all. Lately, I've been kind of planning things out this week. I'm making sure going to do, when I get back into the routine at the gym. I'm still getting in my daily walks, so theres no worries as of right now. Martin, it sometimes help if you take a few stucture classes at the gym. Even getting an appointment with a personal trainer. I know at my gym, they have a wide variety of activities available thru sturctured classe. Although, it would be even cooler to have a friend or a Spiderfriend join you at the gym. I also want to make sure my schedule doesnt get too interupted, so i can keep the walking and the workouts at the gym with some consistancy. I want to continue to keep things going in the right direction for me. I also don't know how many are in this so called botherhood, but I do agree that pete0077, spideremc, yetter and mick are the are sort of the core group. I wonder how you get to join this so called brotherhood.

Well you know I will be at Dragon Con, but with a little surprise to go into the convention with. The back flip thing I still have to try out, just working on doing splits at the moment. Getting a little wider each day, but man it can hurt. But all worth it. And my showing will not be until next coming Saturday. I will send you some pics.

Oh boy what the heck did I start? I should have said more like a motivation type thing. I really did not want to single people out, that is the way I feel about these 4 people. Yetter, Martin, MickMike, and Peterparker0077 help me to strive to become more than I am. I was just recognizing them is all.
If a Brotherhood thing has to be established I dont know what you would have to do to qualify. And I dont want to blurt anything out because I dont want people to feel seperated on this thread. I am just a little kid on the block is all, the others are veterians.

Oh and Larz you did not make trouble, it's okay dude. But that brotherhood thing was just, I dont know, lets just say if you contribute to the thread then you are part of the brotherhood. Pics, Comments-(Supportive comments that is.) Providing information that may be of importance to others, And my fun part is the fitness deal, and pics. Dealing with construction of a suit is out of my realm of things, but I do have my own ideas for my new type of suit ;)
But you should all remember this, if you are here and you are posting the things that I have mentioned above, then you are indeed part of the Brotherhood. Those are the standards that I shall back up on the statements I made about the Brotherhood on this Thread. But Mick is in charge of this show, this is just my own opinon. If you have sat back and have not really posted anything then I say you need too. Dont be shy here. If you visit this thread and you want to be part of the Brotherhood I mentioned then you can't be shy about posting. We need this thread to be the shining light in this hero-hype site.:spidey:

I've noticed a lot of talk about "getting in shape" for their costume. I've always exercised somewhat before I even thought about getting a costume. I used to do the treadmill and weights thing, but due to health reasons I had to stop running. I find what works great is a combo of Yoga and Pilates. Just buy one or two videos from Wal-Mart or Target, get a mat or the likes of, and do it in your living room. I find the best thing about these exercises is 1) if you stick to it, you can see results in as little as a week 2) the Yoga greatly increases flexibility 3) it does have aerobic sequences, so it burns fat 4) it works to build muscle TONE, this means no big, bulky, movement restricting muscles
If you ask me, the results are perfect fro anyone who is an aspiring wall-crawler:spidey:

Hi all, glad to hear dorcphishes tips worked for you too spidergeek, heres another tip you may want to consider for really cool looking eyes, you can get motorcycle helmet "visor strips" from motorcycle accessorie shops they come in packs of 2 or 3 for about 9-10 pounds thyre like a thin plastic that can be easily cut to shape and best of all they come in chrome, gold chrome (really sets off the red in the mask) and a really funky blue chrome, you get enough for a good few lenses/eyepieces and they are cheap.

Hello all.....I am Ready to post the making of my version of the Spider-man movie costume. I logged it as I made it with pictures. Can any of you web heads support my Pictures?
A friend of mine show up here today with a suprize. He told me " you gotta see this and ask me to hold the box and guess whats in it? It wasn't that heavy , But I guessed it. As I open it ..There it was in all its Red ,Black and Chrome glory.
The Spider-man Bust by Mike Hill !!!!!!!! Its Enormous!!!!
and the Craftmen shipp is Beautiful !! My Favorite part is the stitching on the mask and how Mike Sculpt the ears to make it look as if the fabric is really tight around Peter's Head .
If you are a True Spider-man fan this is the piece to end all pieces
Mike and Alex did John Romita Pround. It was very refreshing seeing this Bust sence ever where you look now its the Movie Spider-man style.
But then I fround and ask my friend......
" Where,s Mine?"

Well, he brought it over in an office depot box, I did not get a chance to see what it came in box art and all, but it was in cased in a Positive and Negative foam modeled for the bust protection. Saw some of the Writing embossed beneath it though. Marvel entertainment, Dynamic forces, Alex Ross, Mike Hill, John Romita, and numbers. His dad owns a Comic book store in New Orleans. I guess its a promotional piece he had received from Dynamic Forces. I guess he's Tight with them? Do you have the Original sculpt?
Once more It Truly is an Amazing Spider-man. It Had your Hands all over it! CHEERS!!!!!!! My Friend.

"The Hill is alive with the Hands of Gold",!!??LOL
Wilderos you are crazy but entertaining!
I dont have the original sculpt,i have the mold but the original was done in water clay,so its dries out after a period.BTW I will be attending Chicago WizardWorld, along with Yetter.
For everyone elses information, when you look at Wilderos costumes you can see immediatly that he has his own unique vision of these characters. His key word is "texture",well the guy has that quirky, unconventional side to him in person(not sure if quirky is the right word).Sorta reminds me of Michael Keatons performance in BATMAN 89,in the scene where he first meets Kim Bassinger at the party.Y'know his head seems muddled cuz hes gots tons of information and ideas swirling around in there, well that Wilderos. At last yrs WizardWorld he a group of friends with him who were also wearing his costumes,we went out to dinner (with our good friend David Williams)and had a great time.(they had removed their costumes by this point!)
Ok...my costume. As Ive said before this will be a costume based on the comic book version.Romita/Ross to be exact. No fancy eyes,no muscle texture just plain old red and blues.BRIGHT red and DARK blue.
I posted the Invisible pic(!?)to imurne(what a kind humanitarian he is!)It doesnt show much, just pieces of cloth, but its a start. As soon as I get the basic body suit together I'll whip up some more shots.
Anyway,
gotta run.Im working on a Green Goblin lifesize bust today(companion piece to the Spiderman).Who would have thought the long haired little kid who never liked football(heaven forbid!) would be paid to create Superheroes when he eventually grew up(?)??THWWWIIIIIIPPPPPPP.

i think we should nail this F!@#ing bastard. he steals a costume, and then make 900 dollars of it, i dont think so.
ive just had a look on german spiders costume page at his 3d webbing, then taken a look at his self made suit on e-bay..mmm..
now call me suspicious but thats one hell of a jump in talent and technique, and if if i had a costume i'd made as perfect as that wouldnt i have it on my page as well as the very cool but not in the same league 3d paint one, the e-bay suit looks too perfect, and if you can afford to sell at Ģ500-600 pounds too suspect!!
you really should either be working for james acheson and amalgamated dynamics or waiting for a call from the law, i really hope that is your own work, if it is get a job on the next movie
they need you.

May be a little missunderstanding... the postet auction is NOT mine. Iīve found it on ebay and thought about it.
Iīm really thinking about sending it to sony.
MY auction is this:

many apologies german spider yeah i missunderstood and should have known better from this board, cool people all. do you think this may be a stolen suit? it looks too damn perfect, also in my post i wouldnt want you to think i was unimpressed by your suits, damn fine work, what i meant by inferior was just relative to the movie suit not your talents, which may i say are far superior to my own but i'm getting there.

Hey Mrj... no problem...
If i think, thatīs a stolen costume? Uhm... no... i think, there is somebody who would like to make some money with a fake-pic.
Iīm sure... 100 %... THIS pic is not from the costume, heīs selling... why?
Cause:
This is the pic on ebay:
http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_5f034a2eee5bdbc9ec5526b8f/i-1.JPG
This is a pic of the movie costume on my costume site:
http://spiderman.it-pc.de/Movie/movieframe/mov5/spiderone.jpg
Comparing this two pics... they are the same...
IMHO this guy is a faker, who didnīt own any costume.
A few feeks ago somebody tried to sell a costume on ebay... with pics of MY costume... they are always trying it again... :D

I saw the auction also, and it looks like a professional photo of either Toby or one of the stuntmen in the costume. I asked the seller if he has any pics that he took of the costume and if he'd email them to me, I haven't heard from him yet. If you also notice, the seller has a zero rating and only became an ebay member on june 5, 2002. What if this is an actual suit that was made for the movie and not one of the stolen ones? I've seen stuff sell for pennies on the dollar when the sale looked to good to be true, and I have also seen people get ripped off by false advertising. If he sends me some other pics that look like an amature took them I'll see that I get them on the site

He has his email listed and says for any interested bidders to contact him for pics of the actual suit. Still...the movie pic he has posted is a bit misleading.

You know it is really a shame when people pull crap like this:mad:
I hope the winning bidder will not be ripped off, but if someone wanted to track this item on Ebay which has only 3 hrs left I would email that bidder that won, and see if he can provide us with pictures. All bidders and sellers are able to be contacted from Ebay. We all should mail the winner I say. I would be rather curious to see what the suit will look like, or even if the person will ever get it.

Hey guys, and gals- I recieved an email from the seller of the costume. and guess what, It is not the movie costume. Here is text from his email
" This is a Spiderman movie type costume, A lot of time and research has gone into making this costume, it features the 3d webbing, the brick pattern, movie eyes, it has soles of the feet, I have yet seen a costume on ebay that look as good as this! (Don't mean to brag but I think its true!). The costume is made out of Lycra, it has 1 zip along the shoulders, which is very easy to get in/out of, and the costume has only been worn about twice, only for pictures. Now the size of the costume will fit anyone from about 5'8 downwards. "
I fowarded the complete letter to martin. It has some pics in it that i have seen before ( I dont remember where). Does anybody want me to send them the letter so they can post the pics of the real costume their selling. Thanks Lon

Hello again, did anybody notice that the winning bidder on the the movie costume with the deceving photo had a zero feedback rating? I looked and they became an ebay member today. and that they only put in one bid, with only 31 seconds left on the auction. Doesn't this seem alittle strange! It seems like a little hanky panky is going on with this sale.

Wow that was a wild ride. I cant believe we've got a villian on the loose. But I'm glad to see things settle down. I feel like I let the Spiderhood down a bit though. I mean I too saw that realistic looking movie suit on Ebay. And I didn't think for a moment, that maybe it wasn't the real thing. I mean I sense something was wrong when the person selling it, didn't even bother to put the right pic up for it on ebay. I just didnt know how to go about letting ebay know. Also I didnt think it was worth mentioning, since I felt the suit just seemed a little fake. Not to say Webslingers comments dont deserve some merit. At least he has one pic of him on German's site in costume. I think he was watching for the welfare of the Spiderhood. I'll understand if I'm not as popluar now with you guys or I'm ousted out of the Spiderhood. Really up to mick, because I'm sure he's been busy and not ignoring me. I just wanted to let him know things are fine and weight maybe down, I'll know more . I mean all I do is talk anyway.

whoever this rip off merchant is, i realy hope he gets whats coming to him, ripping off other peoples (german spider's or anyone elses) ideas and talent and plagarising them as your own is about as low as it gets! a lot of us on here aspire to making our own costumes etc which costs time money headaches and tears etc and to have some sleazy bastard steal your work ...i just hope no one loses any cash with this maggot.
now ive got that out of my system, back to the costumes....does anyone know of a good spandex supplier in the uk that has the appropriate colours needed for an alex ross spidey suit, at the moment ican only find one supplier and they only have a light weight spandex thats a touch too dark, its ok for test masks though. i really want the colours to be right and not make do with what i have at present. spidergeek hows that costume of yours coming along, hope its going well.

I just thought I share the fact that I know some of you on this forum and the time i responded to this whole ebay mess made me look like a very suspicous suspect in this. I know to many people on this board that i feel ive made friends with. I would never try to be dishonest. I do have a way to show off, but I'm not hero looking enough just yet. Of course a hero needs a costume to. So I just want to know if I'm still an okay guy on this forum. Also has anyone tried to use any material other then spandex for costumes. Just a curious question. Also i did see something about making a mask and wonder if thats the only way to do one. or can you get an individual spidey mask made by any of the costume companies.

Oh God please, I know what you guys mean. I am finally getting over the pain to my right Calf muscles. It has been hurting me for the past 6 weeks, what a pain in the a$$, oops I mean leg :p. But all you can do is live right through it.
Other than that though my legs have gotten bigger as I am trying to keep the body simetry there at the same time, while still hacking away at my body fat content which is going down pretty well, and I am starting to see more ripped areas showing up. The competion body building guys at my gym are really egging me on lately, they want to see me in my new type of suit that I am designing. They say I have that natural build of a superhero, they have seen me in my Spidey Costume which gets a lot of praise out of them, but I try to stay humble about the whole thing. I dont need a big head, it's bad enough trying to get this new project that I am doing in order, but all goes well with it.
Well I hope all you guys will have an awesome day.

WS922,
Actually it's a combo of both. The top was painted on a mannequin and the pants shot while being filled by a live body. I'm currently working on a second suit which will be much closer than this one.

YES, i was hoping to see more pics of that suit,...AWESOME!
Hey german, whats wrong over there? You ok?
I ordered my black and white spidey suit, should be in in acouple weeks.... wow, 2 in's in one sentence, but i guess it right!
Mick, try the crab style, works for me. lol
the first time i did an appearance for 6 hours squatting on top of a table with out coming up, except to go to the bathroom, and a occansional back flip or 2, i was sore alittle, but the next appearances i was ok. it's from all those damn low stances i have been doining in kung fu for the past 11 years, really good for the legs. i practice squating low in a horse stance (like your sitting on a chair, but the chair is not there) and get my thighs parallel to the ground, back strait, and set a glass of water on my thigh, so if i stand up the glass falls off. see how long you can keep the water in the glass! thats a game we play at kung fu all the time, you should try it! makes squating for appearance seem easy.

Could happen, that i will loose my new job in the next weeks due to shortens in our company.
And when money is getting low in a company the new ones always have to go first.
But we will see... i canīt do anything more. Only wait and see.

mrj,
I got this link from Mike last year, and I bought some spandex which I am yet to turn into a costume.
They have a very good range of Spandex, Lycra, they stock Cire spandex "wet look, rubber effect" which you'll probably need for your Alex Ross suit.

Hi guys,
My name is Matt and i live in New Zealand.
I have been following this board thread for quite a while, and finally got round to registering.
I am looking to buy a spiderman suit, and i am looking to buy one in the next week or so, one of the suits i am lookin into at the moment is the Margaret Waite Athletic designs movie suit.
Has anyone brought one off her or see one up close?
(i like the style of the spider and the look of the material, but not so keen on the grey webbing)
I do a lot of medieval stunt work and want a suit that would hold up to a fair bit of punishment, so if any costume makers want to give me a quote and pics that would be great (already heard from joseph).
Or alternativly, anyone got any more links to makers who are not associated with this board and who do spiderman suits?
Am am a serious cash buyer who wants a spiderman suit, so if you make em, or have one my size to sell then please drop me a line at matthewbrachi@hotmail.com

Hi artist and fabric sculpters:
i have been a long time reader and like to congratulate the makers and artists' that sculpt these great garmets. As a suggestion even though i havent been a maker i would like to tell you about rash gaurds. Rash gaurds are spandex tops or suits that surfers wear. As per hobby i come in contact with them on a daily basis. But i thought that they would make a great base to a costume or something to slip under the costume itself. To find out more you may contact me at the following AIM: spidermanklone
or email mvc6@pitt.edu.
or oneill.com
or other surf sites.
thank you for your time gentlemen
i look forward to more posts

One question:
You sew your suits yourself, do you? What kind of machine do you use? A overlock (called so in germany) or a normal sewing-machine?
I will test, if i could use a normal machine for lycra the next days.

Martin... might want to see if you can find a machine that has some different varieties of stretch stitches. This is a special stitch designed for fabric that has a lot of tension on it to give w/o popping threads. Hope this helps

yeah, look for a sewing machine that sewes a zigzag pattern. that pattern, and a couple othere can strech with the fabric. i think most machine can do it, my old- ooollllldddd (1940's or so) singer can do it, so i am guessing most new ones can too.

hi spidergeek good news on the suit!! heres a tip for the boots,
try putting a thick long sock on and use the duct tape method, you have to cut it off your foot so be carefull with those scissors,
use this as your pattern to make a pair of spandex socks and stretch them over a pair of cheap ninja style tabi boots, glue and sew in place, icut the soles out of the socks and sewed the bottom of the sock just above the rubber sole, hope this helps, theres probably better ways but i found this works and the tabi boots are very cheap from a martial arts shop.

Hi everyone! This is my first post to the board. I"ve made a few spidey suits myself and now working on a movie style suit. I have the body pattern, but wondering if anyone has a pattern for the movie style mask?? Not the weblines....just the cut of the fabric for the mask/neck area. Also.....is there any companies selling the blue 4-way stretch spandex with the brickwork pattern?? Would love to post some of my costume pictures but may need help with this as I"m new to the board. Hope everyone likes my costume. I silkscreened all of my pieces....took me two years to complete my first suit project!!

Oh PS guys I went to see Minority Reports tonight, with my friend, it was pretty good, and they also showed the preview to Dare Devil. The preview actually looked pretty neat, and it starts off with him sitting or kneeling on top of a building next to a few angel statues. Also there is a Gothic type of music playing in the back ground. Then they show some action clips after that.:daredevil

Also.....is there any companies selling the blue 4-way stretch spandex with the brickwork pattern?? Unfortunately, no that process was developed through multiple silk screens.

It would be far simpler just cutting your sock down the back and making the pattern from that.

for putting a sole into the feet, i just make my spandex soxes alittle big, and then slip in a watersock with a good rubber heal, or anylaceless shoes with a elastic band around the anlkle to stay on good. once the choes are in, i sew them to the spandex, then cut off the part of the spandex that covers the sole. its pretty easy, and your boots are one solid color. check out my costumes to see.

Actually Pete0077 if you did work there and I was the boss, you would get an extra bonus every week, because you are one of the coollest guys that I know that would fit the part. We would just have to work on that Southern Accent of yours :D

Trust me the pics were online and they were great. But SpiderAce was worried that they might disappear off the board in the fashion they just did. It's strange how that occured after just a couple of days. To anyone who hasn't seen them be paitient, maybe they will re-appear. After all SpiderAce said he was into magic. As for me, I guess I really don't have anything new to add. I've really been kind of busy with my own thing. I'm doing my update with my weight loss next monday on here. So I'll let you know how I'm doing. For now, all I can say is things are still going well. Im glad to here of this possible photo with Mick, SpidEMC, and Pete. It would be cool to see all the good costume versions protrayed on this board. Wish I could be a part of it, but its still a long time coming for me. Also could the same thing be said, about how well the Marvel Characters are potrayed at Universal in Hollywood, which is several hours away from where I live. Seem like they get better publicity down in Orlando. Mick I guess the best I can do is send you private messages from the hype. I also use you email because I know its on thread here too.

hey guys, finally gotten into makin my own ultimate spidey costume! if u guys culd help me that wuld be cool, i also had a look at the fan site with the costumes from here and i wuld like some additional information. anywho... i have no idea what im doin (ABSOLUTELY) first off, and i have a pretty low budget!
i wanna get a proffesional tailor to make the core of the suit (no webs, eyes, spider on front) what is the best materials to ask for do u guys think?
and also how do i make sure that those guys get every little tidbit right?
oh! and i want gloves, mask, and torso pieces to be seperate but still look whole when they are all together, can i do that and make it look good?
how do i go about making eyes?
i want them to be white, yet slightly reflective ( im picky arent i?!) and of course easy to see out of.
and the last 2 questions!
are the web patterns real hard to make?
i dont have a body cast to put the costume onto so ill have to do it with the costume face down. how shuld i go bout this?
muscle shading?
im guessing either i know how to do this real well or it will look crapo right?
oh yeah! and soles for boots? any suggestions?
anyway, thanx for ure future help guys!!!
:D
peterparker0077
06-25-2002, 09:18 AM
on a red and blue spidey suit, it is hard to make the gloves, boots, and hood seperate, because the webbing lines will never match up when you put it on. so i would recommend making it one piece, unless you dont mind the lines not matching up.
to make the eyes white, and slightly reflective, just make the under layer of window tint, and cover it with white mesh cloth. they will be white and slightly reflective.
for the web lines, they are not to hard. i just spread my suit down on a ironing board and bust out the sharpe marker, use a ruler, and make sure they are strait, (vertical lines that is), and then arc each horizontal line.
hope it helps
first off, a big hello to dr spoon another welcome addition to the board, if you go back over the last half a dozen pages you wil find a lot of good advice hints and tips on the very subjects you mentioned, as for having a low budget, i aint got a lot to spare, and i know spidergeek had a budget of about $100, so your not alone in wanting to keep things to a minimum, so good look with your suit and don't let your budget restrict you if anything it just makes you more creative.:spidey: :spidey: :spidey:

i just wanna say that my movie costume costume me about Ģ25 all in all, about $35, i havent been answering some of the questions i could of but here are my thoughts, trial and error is an important part of the production of any homemade costume for eg, to make the spidey mask, lay your head down on some paper and draw around it, then cut about 2cm away from the outline of your head, then sew, and if it doesent fit adjust, i am 14yrs old and i started my 1st costume 4 months ago, i am now on my 3rd, just thought id let you guys know as you dont much about me.
to the dr and anyone elese, i can give some good info on creating that costume. lilbowrabi@aol.com

Ham.... Nice suit! Very clean.... if you want to PM me to swap ideas, let me know. Looks like you were really close to the movie pattern. very clean and very sharp! Very Nice Job on the brick pattern.
Speaking of idea swapping I have to take a minute out to get something off my chest. I know this thread is huge and they're are a few regulars that have been here since this thing spawned. This is definatley not directed towards you. BUT... for you newbees that think a thread forum is a place that you can shed any decency you have and think "being cordial" is when your face-to-face only, I'm afraid your sadly mistaken. I can only speak for myself when I say this but I'm sick of throwing around advice to people that dont appreciate it. My capability is the by-product of hours and hours of hard work and learning from my peers. Many attempts at trying something and if it doesn't work, trying something else. You "newbees" ask "How can I do this?" and "How can I do that?" and when we tell you, we don't get as much as a "thank you". Well you know what? When someone specific took their TIME out of their BUSY schedule to help me, guess what? A FRIENDSHIP formed, a damn good friendship! So next time someone sends you a pattern, offers advice, points you in the right direction you're trying to head, stop and offer a little frickin' gratitude. MY GOD PEOPLE! Is this what soceity has developed in to? sheeshh.... nuff said!

First to Spider-Ham--> I have to say that suit rocks. If That is the suit on ebay currently up for bid, All i can say is if I had the ability to bid on it and could fit into it right now, I would go for it. Looks like that suit also got a very different entry into the suit. Plus I know one time on Ebay a long while ago, you had a Spider-Man 2099 suit for sale. Will you ever plan do one of those again. That was a great suit
Yetter--> Yes buddy you are right. There's plenty Of information on here to make a suit. I've taken this information to heart and can clearly say, there is no way right now that I have near enough talent to make the suit. To all who have been brave enough to make the suit. I praise all the wonderful work and time all you guys take to make this thread what it is.
This thread will hopefully for my sake and for up to when the next movie comes out. Because for me this is the greatest time to be and a great challenge for me to be, a Spidey In Training. I'm loving myself and life and the training. I care about showing myself and those of you who are this thread, that I will triumph and I'll be the next best Spidey show off on this board (Well I'll try in any case).

Some one most have really cheesed you off dude:mad:
But sooner or later they will have to learn to respect other peoples time and information, and thank the person for doing it ou of their busy lives. Guys dont go around asking for advise and not thanking the person for giving it to you. That is just WRONG.

Lil,
Trying to understand what you are trying to accomplish.... You're asking how the pattern assembles? If you're going off of IMURME's posting awhile back, you're missing the back of the mask as well as the arms. Check the making of the movie book for the complete pattern.

Hey Spider-Ham Hype, your suit rocks. Thanks for the shots that shows where you put the zipper. I like your attention to detail. You must have put in as much time making your suit that Acheson's crew put in making the movie suit.

ive seen the book, but that cant be the complete pattern or james what ever his name is must be doing something special cos i ve cut out a mini pattern of it and sewn it together, it comes with two things jsut above the neck, also is the pattern in the book for the back side of the costume as well?

lil,
Which pattern are you referring to? There are two in the book. Actually there are three total. One has a "unitard" look back that's sewn in the middle. The black / white muscle pattern is the complete pattern. The two "things" you are referring to are placed right behind your ears. This is the complete pattern not front or back. Remember, seams were stratigically placed to be hid by webbing.
