That is your own original pattern, isn't it? The chest and stomach shading looks slightly different than it is on the movie pattern. Extremely nice looking suit...how long have you been working on it?

Nick Fox

Ps: the only suggestion I could possibly make is to make it a little tighter around the knees, and make the arms shorter. Both would reduce the wrinkling you have.

what size shoe do you wear? (US, if you know)

Hombrearania, did Ham revamp the colors on his suit then?

The costume used to have a somewhat "dull" look to it, as well as the shading used to look almost what i would call "dirty".

This one looks nothing like it! Did you have him do the color like this for you? Or is that how he's doing all his suits now?

I had ruled him out before as a potential for a suit for me, but if the colors he's doing now are like yours then i'll definitely reconsider!

I´m planning to sculpt a undershell mask with movable chin now and it would be nice if as many people as possible could send me a pm with the height and width of their head like shown in the picture. I´m trying to figure out an average size of the shell that would not only fit my head shape.

Storyteller about the only link that i know for step by step instruction on the internet is http://www.spider-costumes.de/howto/howto.html there also a great resource of learning about the making of the suit on the spider-man 2 dvd. if you look at the dvd cover of spiderman scaling the building on the first dvd and the one of spidey swinging with mary jane on the second dvd. you can see a great difference between the suits. yeah i'm still alive almost by sure luck. i'm also no closer to making a perfect spidey without a muscle suit or better body to fit in a muscle suit. as well as no closer to making or getting the perfect spidey suit. i'm not even sure if its going to be a someday for me, i think i aimed my goals to high. anyway keep it real guys and great suits blaze, hombre and ollie (i'm a bit jealous i must admit.) and i give out a shout of hi to anyone else i know on this board.

Does anyone know where the zippers are placed on the movie suits? Or where do you guys usually put the zippers in?

Nfox
03-14-2005, 04:15 PM
Movie suit zippers: down each side, and under the red belt in the back.

Most homemade suits: across the back between the red and the blue (around the shoulders). Some still put the zip straight down the back though.

Nick Fox

Roc74
03-14-2005, 08:55 PM
On the movie suit, down each side? like from the armpit to the the belt? or does it go further down...

I wonder why the homeade ones don't follow the same thing? Is it because it is harder to put zippers down the side? Or is it easier to get into the suit if the zipper is between the red and blue ?

Thanks

Roc74
03-14-2005, 08:58 PM
Ah I think I see how the zipper were placed in OVDH's costume. I wonder how the corners where the zippers intersect are done.

Because of the way the zippers are placed, does the back of the suit open up like a car trunk? Know what I mean?

blaze269
03-14-2005, 11:14 PM
Yes the back opens up like that. It is usually done with 2 zippers. They just curve nicely at the "bottom" to meet in the center of your lower back.

Might be but the guy is a recaster. I also know he can be extremely slow to ship. I had detectives on his trail when he finally shipped my predator bio. Then to top it off, the thing was real imperfect. During the months I had detectives working on him, he must have gotten the boot by ebay or something. he used to be known as monkeybone.

hiya all,

i assure i am very much alive and well. i have not been ban from the hype as some of you might think or hope. were in a car wreck a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine (thank god it ain't my wheel) it was pretty bad. my friend car were pulverize beyong recgonition. i barely made it out alive. took some pretty injury. got some minor cut here and there and my left leg and right arm were in a cast. have to endure hospital food for almost 2 and half week.

i didn check back on the hype every onw and then when i was discharge from the ER. but seeing the mess and caos cause by freak and them all, i felt i just lay back and watch you guys destroy him instead.

actually, the past few week has not just been about rest and recovery. been working relently on the suit. the print and working the mold for my webbing. seeing that i was bound in a cast, my effort were limited. but manage to get a few thing finish.

my compliment to ollie for an amazing suit. i think we can all stop debating who got the best looking suit now. i vote ollie for accuracy, determination, persistance, and overal a great guy.

btw, my mask arrived and god it look amazing!!! the challenge now is how to prevent me from removing the mask from it's santuary and testing it on my self. you all have really got to see it to believe it. i know now what i'm taking to the grave with me;)

thank spiderkes for that touching word of encouragement. i'm glad that at least one person notice the good deed that i'm trying to do on the hype. dun worry, i am not deter by any of the negative comment made toward me. as i had before and always will, people are entitle to their own opinion. i know i ain't able to please every one here, but at least i try. i've made a promise that i won't lash back at every indirect or direct comment made about me and i ahve been true to my word. the hype has always be my home away from home. so no amount of negativity or BS is ever going to keep me away from this forum.

you know i dun really care where purp or other end up. they may be flirting around at other forum or simply browsing around on the hype, it doesn't really matter to me. if they want to leave, then by all mean. but this is where i'm staying and i'm sure a lot of people would too. after all, this is the birth place of the perfect suit forum. where else can you get so much information and assistance from so many talented people. this thread is the gathering of the pro. and i dun know about you, but no where else is sweeter!!

thanks for your concern, it ain't that bad as it sound. perharp i might over exagerated a bit. but i'm still hanging there. my friend took the worse of it. as we speak, he is still bed ridden in the hospital under going several surgery. god bless his soul, hope he he be able to pull through. i dun know. this week has been hell for me. i got another friend who just recently die in a car accident. his gf were paralize from the waist down. what a shame. both were working as a flight steward and at the peak of their career. kinda make you think about your own life.

any way. the mask arrive these past few days while i was out of town. i was so shock when i cam back and find this huge package on top of my bed. i knew right away that it has to be the mask. low and behold, wouldn't you know it, it is!!

the mask is every thing that you might hope it would be. the look, the colour etc.... i had to renogoiate with the seller to drop the price of the mask to around 4 grand. it took some time and a lot of email. but eventually it pay off.

now i ain't got no digi cam, but i will try to borrow one from a friend and take some picture of it. but like i said, it is every thing you hope it would be. i will try to take some close up picture of the mask and hopefully of the inner side of it. but i would then have to remove the protective glass that cover it. it's going to be tricky. one false move and i might ruin the value of the mask. but my curiousity really got the best of me. so i will do it tommorow. i will fill you all in on the info. if you got any question regarding the mask, feel free to pm me

Hey Han, it's time for a word of advise from you once more :)
I am in the process of using Ollie's webs for my costume(s). I am not sure if he has the color of the webbing all correct though. He has black web, with a silver top. Could you explain as much as possible how the original webs are colored? On pictures you can never see it well, cuz of the light and stuff. I really want to buy some good paint with the fully movie accurate color, but this seems almost impossible. Are the tops and sides of the original webs the same color? Would you happen to know the perfect scientific name of the color???
Any help on this one would be awesome,
thnx

hey Han nice to see you back and about. Sorry to hear about the accidents, but you will live through it, and I hope your friends will have a speedy recovery. Some times you just have to stop and think where you are in life and where you want to go. Shame that sometimes you can only think about that is when you are out of commission for a little while. My focus on my project and what I wanted was clear after my back operation and I had about 2 months of down time to reflect on my work and I did most of it while recovering. Its a blessing in a way, but painful at the same time. So Knight Seeker became more of a reality at my worst of times.

Any help on this one would be awesome,
thnx

Spiderkes

hello spiderkes,

sure, i would be happy to help out the best i can. the mask webbing when in compare to ollie is about 98% accuracy. the colour is dead on with the original webbing being slightly dull and diameter is a little off. the webbing on the original mask is slightly thicker then ollie, but you can hardly tell. as to my presumption to an excact colour of the webb, well i would say it's the same. black over gun metal or silver. but because the original webbing were made of latex, and ollie webbing is made of urethene, it tend to give out a different shine. the mask webbing doesn't have too much gloss. but i think that can easily be corrected on ollie webbing. so in my opinion, ollie webbing is the next best thing to the real thing. hope this help.

thanks EMC for that word of comfort. it's great to be back again on th hype. not that i was ever gone. that 2 week really hasn't been much of a reflection for me. i wish that i could have done some thing in that 2 week or so when i am bedridden. but it's hard to think straight when your friend in the other room laying unconcious and fighting for his life. i ain't a shame to admit that i was griefing and in tear about about the whole situation. some time life is unfair and kinda make you think that why i was spare from his faith. perharp it wasn't my time yet. may be i was place here for a higher purpose.

lysol is your friend.

Let's see some pics of that mask!

i will get some pic of my mask once i get the chance to. know that i ain't a wiz when it come to computer so most of the time, i had my friend do all the complicated thing for me, like down loading picture and stuff like that. only now i am learning how to use ebay. before it was just casual use. no selling, i bid on occasion. even the mask were dealt out side of ebay. any suggestion for a good ebay tuturial book that i could purchase?

any way, the mask as i mention before is a great investment for me. cause i know eventually the value will increase when they stop producing spiderman sequal ( let pray that never happen )

i've seen this one time on ebay, some one trying to sell off a mock version of the movie mask. god it look horrible. the COA were badly done and the mask, well... judg for your self. i'm sure every one had seen it by now. i certianly did. i know there were one or 2 bid for it. i wonder who the seller is.

the mask is now incase in the glass and will forever be. after some consideration, i've decided not to open the glass fearing that i might wreck it or some thing like that. so any picture taken will have to be from the view out side the protective glass panel.

peace

Hello Haniel,

DO you have a set of Ollie's new webs on hand? Or are you basing this comparison based on other sources? On one of the description in the auction, Ollie states that the thickness of webs change throughout the suit. Maybe this accounts for the differences?

On the mask, how thick and how high are the webs? Man this so cool that you got an original mask.

Spider Tim does a great suit, it's his own design... www.spidertim.com

SpiderHam does some amazing work as well... www.home.fuse.net/spiderhamhype (scroll down)

Spidyfan43 also does great work, he has several options... http://hometown.aol.com/spidyfan43/

then there is the famed Bobby/ Ben suit... you can see it at,
www.dullam-causey.com
(gallery>>> page 3)

OVDH is developing an absolutely FANTASTIC suit on his own... (seen in previous pages)

and of course, there are the other odds and ends dealers... as well as all the people on here who have obtained patterns and have color corrected them, altered the "brick pattern" and made a movie suit there own. :)

hey roc 74,

no, i dun have ollie webb, i base my opinion of what i have and viewing ollie suit which i have save in my computer. i'm not sure how accurate i am, but i would say pretty close. in order for me to do a real comparison, i would need a small sample piece of ollie webb so i could do a side by side comparison. that would be more accurate. i haven't really meausre the witd or the thickness of the original mask as i have never really open the case to view it my self. so every thing i've said before is just base on the picture of ollie costume and some of his close up shot of his mask. but i say it's pretty close. the thickness of the webbing on the mask is slightly thicker then ollie. that all i can say. hope it help.

Ok now that I have seen some of the fantastic work you all do can I get some prices. Im interested in a 2004 replica with the darker red and blues you all know what I mean a detachable mask and if a dark webbing is available like gunmetal and either mirror or gunmetal for the eyes. If you makers could post your prices or someone else I would really appreciate it.
Prices From:
SpiderTim*
SpiderHam*
Spidyfan43*
Bobby/ Ben* - I guess this would be the bobbyc I've been reading about with the face shell I see they have the web molds as well.
Ollie* Awesome work by the way

Im very curious what the price differences are between all these people taking into account the web molds. I'm interested in this because I've read horror stories where the "tulip" style breaks after awhile. I would have to imagine a latex mold would never break.... Please prices everyone! And any other info you could give me on the webbing on suits.

From what i hear MW's suits are very nice, not perfect replicas, but are still great quality and will still be the center of attention at parties!

For the most accurate suits, you'd have to go with Ollie or Bobby C/Ben

If i were you though... if you want great quality replica, plus a reasonable price, go with Ham. I guess he's the mid range between price vs. quality

Nice mold http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
How did you make it? Is it hand crafted, or did you use somekind of milling machine?
Aren't the lines of the web bit too thick? I'd make them little smaller...

Because of the lighting and type and color of wood it looks like theyre thick but theres a bevel on the webs, but you can be rest assured that these are the actual movie dimensions. They look bigger than they are. After I get a releasing agent ill do a mold and show you just how exact it is. I know someone who has been mailed an actual piece of the movie webs and i used those dimensions on this.
I used a CNC myself. I got an estimate from a company and they said it would cost around 900 to cut, but since I know someone with a milling machine i just used theres for free.
But that piece alone took around 45 minutes to cut, so like I said earlier "It takes a lot of time out of your life"

You know... i just realized something that would be nice to know.

Ollie, or anybody who has sewn up a movie style pattern...
what is the ORDER in which you sew the seams, for optimum effeciency/ convenience?

example: first sew the "butt-crack" seam.... followed by the inner thigh seams.

know what i mean?

My guesses are to start with the zippers, they are the hardest part..

The best way to do it is with 3 zippers not with 4 like other people have done. From the left armpit have the zipper zip down to be zipped up, across the back make it zip right to be zipped up and on the other armpit side make it zip up to be zipped up. Does that make sense?
|`````^

like that

CrossroadSpider
03-21-2005, 04:51 PM
My understanding is that invisible zippers are used for the two sides and a separating zipper across the bottom. Since invisible zippers don't separate, both would need to zip down to close.

However the rest gets sewn up, I believe the zippers should be last, outside of maybe attaching the sole/inner boot to the costume.

His present job is similar to mine. I know how crazy it can be sometimes. Also he is currently going through personal issues in which I cannot discuss. Sure he wants your money. The suit is great(4 way stretch heavy spandex) one piece, has zippers on the shoulder, foot pads in the boots and gives you two costumes in one.

WOW!! I sure hope I don't come across as an ass. I'm sorry if I have. Yeah I am still working on the suits in my spare time. Part of the reason I may seem a little irritable is that my father died this month and my enthusiasm has been low. Sorry for that.

Tracy you are right, I would much prefer not taking orders so that the suits I am making will be on mark and not rushed. Speed will surely insite mistakes.

I am a little slow right now because I am in school, and also I have a regular job. So if anyone is waiting, thanks so much for being patient. Please don't think I'm out to take someone's money, because I'm surely not.

Thanks guys.

my heart felt condolence to you my friend. i know time like this can be very hard. but regardless you must pull through this tough time. i can't really relate now but currently my friend condition is getting pretty critical. doctor said that if he still ain't out of the coma by this week, he may never get out of it at all. he is currently on life support and if bad come to worse, life support might have to be remove. it's hard on the family and it ain't better for me either. i know now how the shiavo must be feeling at the moment. god bless you tim, Teri. some one once said that doctor nurse the wound, God heal it. so let's us all pray and hope for the best.

If you have your own webserver (Apache), place the pictures in the htdocs folder and then preview the pictures on your browser. copy the address say "http://webserver_address/picname.jpg" and paste it in the img tag window. When you preview your message, you should be able to see the pics.

Alright eveyone please help me with this. Whats everyones thoughts on this http://members.aol.com/mzw8/mw8spidey.htm
I have decided to go with this because no one has responded to my requests in purchasing a suit and wish I could have a spidertim suit but hes an A$$, guess he just doesn't like money. If I was to get this I would like to make a mold for the webbing but dont know how just yet, thoughts on that would be helpful. Well everyone please post your thoughts on Waite's suit.

I have bought both suits. I had the MW suit and I just bought of of Spidyfan's suits not that long ago. I like Spidyfan's suit much better. I got the bricked suit in both of them too. Spidyfan's suit was more money but worth it. The MW suit is nice but it lacks the 3D webs and the reflective lens. She's very nice to deal with though...they both are. Spidyfan's suit is lot brighter in color too. Hope this helps. If you would like pics to compare...just ask. I can email you both.

X_SpiderFan_X
03-24-2005, 07:24 PM
Awesome thanks for responding! I'm probably going to go with MW's suit because I have a bad feeling about raised webbing inless it comes from a mold. Also I like a darker suit, I don't really like the bright spider costume. I would really like it if you could send those comparison pics though spider costumes are such eye candy. My email is mrgamerman55@mail.com.
Thanks

Is there anyone here who you guys would recommend to put webbing and symbols on here? Thanks for the help in advance!

It´s fantastic work the one Eric (Mexican Spider) does. Even as I am able to build my suits I have asked him to make 3 suits for a big project I am working now on.

The suit that he displays on this page was being made before the premiere of the movie, and it´s just an amazing piece of work, taking in account he is a half-time worker and half-time student that runs his house with a small, mobile comic book shop.

I love his designs. Eric and myself would love to make contact with all spanish-speaking spiderfans around, we are members of a Yahoo Group, http://mx.groups.yahoo.com/group/spiderman-mex/

Be happy! :)

I figure I should post this before the Delewere River gets any higher and they may shot off our power grid. Amazing how nature can take control of things. The River is expected to crest in the next hour or so, and the water is getting higher no joke. I am not in the danger zone but we may lose power none the less. So here is what was waited on by some of the members of this board. I hope you guys enjoy it.

This film was done late last year during the fall of 2004 for Knight Seeker, but a conflict of interest arose between me the creator, and Chris the director of Blinky Productions. So we have parted our ways. It is still a good fan film but it will not represent the new images of Knight Seeker and the rest of the characters I have created. The costumes were changed from what you will be watching so that I do not cause any legal matters with Chris N. the director. My hat is still off to him for directing a great fan film. If anyone ask in my area who would be a great director to get a project done I would direct them to Chris, he is very dedicated to his projects, and takes them seriously. He also has his own website if anyone would like to shoot him an email blinky500@yahoo.com - www.blinky-productions.com

The essesnce of what the novel is about is still in this video, so it is still a good film to watch.

Things like this happen, but its my project and I have to keep going on with it, and make changes when it is needed.

Enjoy the short movie and the Novel should be ready for order by the end of April or very early May.

Knight Seeker Fan Film (http://www.kinkycities.com/members/njbuffster/)

***Give it time to download it is 60 mb***

Also some people that have already emailed me privately from another site this is one loved the movie and showed it to friends. They were floored that such a video was done for a fan film and also of an original making. Big things will happen for those who were involved with this fan film and I hope it will help their paths to better futures.

Hi guys!

It’s my first posting here and I really don’t know what I have to say, because for a few weeks I bought a huge Spiderman poster and I was so amazed, that I decided to make a Spider-Man costume (I’m also 5’8), but I hadn’t no idea how I could release that. I did some costumes like Link from Zelda or an Star Trek uniform and this is now a really challenge for me.

I found an article on google about a fan made costume (it was Ollie’s) and … yes … I was speechles … and of course just right now, because you all do a very great work – there’s no word which could describe this http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Now, I have to find out where I can get the patterns and a fabric, but I don’t think, that we have such fabric in Germany, but first of all I have to read the last 32 pages http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif

I’m glad to have found this forum http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hello urbandc_spidey,

Most of us who do work in latex like to use Ultracal 30. It is sort of a combination plaster of paris and cement. It is a porous material that absorbs the moisture away from the liquid latex and leave the rubber solids. I'm not sure if Deviant's is the best choice because it is a bit pricey for what you get. You might want to locate some mask latex and latex pigment from a FX supply shop.

By the way, happy early birthday. I'm down in the Norfolk/ Va Beach area. I'm thinking of poping into DC around the 16th and 17th.

this is my suit with spidyfan stuff... wasnt applied very well to the mask unfortunately... and i applied it a little too thin throughout the rest of the suit. but my second one will be better?

hey elurew,
Good looking job, this webbing looks great. from experience, the tulip paint stretches a little. the problem is that even though you can get it to adhere to the fabric, after a couple of sessions it lifts off, breaks and must be reglued.

yeah... im kinda thinking i'll stick with my current webbing for the next costume. sure... its not very shiny... but as long as i apply it better, it'll look good for my next suit... and more importantly, it'll stretch well. Now just need some ollie lenses...
unless someone can hook me up with some molded webbing!! if so, please PM... PLEASE! :)

You gave the answer yoursefl: It´s a hobby... i can only speak for myself, but it´s a hobby and nice to see the results. Others play dart, baseball or customize their cars... but everybody is doing it for fun...
May be it´s also to be a little bit near to our favorite hero... feel what he would feel... it´s like star trek fans... or star wars fans... and i don´t think, it has anything to do with adult or child... it´s more that fantasies, that are in everybody of us...

i dont know about you.. but i kind of assume that most people here are of a decent adultish age. its unreasonable to say that adults cant have interests or passions or even for lack of a better word, childish desires. Spideys awesome. His suit is a piece of art... and the movie suit is a great piece. The desire of anyone on this board to be able to create such a masterpiece is a very respectable one.

And considering the kind of output people here create, i would be very surprised if it was the result of 12 year old kids who just wanted to be spidey.

So other adults can act as "cool" and "mature" as they want by not wanting to create a suit or "be spidey".... but to all of us who are open minded and not attaching ourselves some society driven image of adulthood, the quest to making the perfect spidey suit is one of the best things we could do.

And then on the very professional side, there are people who actually get paid to do this kinda stuff.... you know, like the original creators of the suit? kinda doubting that they're 16 years old. With the talent we've seen on this board, the spidey suit would be a great addition to their professional gallery/portfolio

Hey guys, been working on the eyes a bit.

http://server3.uploadit.org/files/tsjahh-eye.JPG

This is just a test, the lenses aren't even applied to the frame yet. That is why it's a bit bubbly now. This is the color I want the lenses to be, shame the sight is a little too bad. You can only see where you walk with these. But I'm on the right track..

These look amazing, and i can relate with the eyesight issue...the material for my eyes does the same thing. Is that a mesh or a light fabric...

can't wait to see it all finished up

This is not mesh! The eye is made out of 3 layers. first chrome, to prevent seeing your eyes. 2nd shinethrough curtain and third clear plastic to make it shiny. The curtain must be replaced, will go to the store today to look for better shinethrough stuff. keep you posted.

Found the better white stuff, the lenses below come with good sight. I'd say about 75 %. Color is perfect and they are shiny. All I hoped for.http://server2.uploadit.org/files/tsjahh-eyes2.jpg

What kind of adhesive did you use for the webbbing, and did you just freehand the webbing?

elurew
04-11-2005, 04:11 PM
i got the liquid webbing off of spideyfan43 (i think... :))
yeah... i just freehand did it. thats why the mask is kinda sloppy. but i did the rest of the costume pretty well (although a bit thin). the stuff is squeezed out of an old school ketchup bottle and dries onto the fabric. holds pretty dang well... ive had maybe 6 spots that came loose so far... but real easy to fix. great stuff... in my opinion the best after the molded webbing of which makes me salivate. it stretches way better and seems to hold better than any of the 3d paint ive tested.

I have a spideyfan suit and the webbing holds into the material. I haven't had any spots come loose yet..and it stretches great..none of it has broken at all.

Spidyfan has different types of webbing, but his best he makes himself. Super strong, impossible to come loose.
