looks awesome! The frames kinda seem off though, maybe too high of an angle? anyway, wow!

inkmonkey
03-15-2007, 04:05 PM
Might just be the angle of the pic but I think jpzilla is right. Frames don't seem at the same angle. Also look too far apart maybe? I dunno I don't have a great eye for these things.

Hey guys, Not sure if you remember me but I lucked into that print a couple of months back. Well I'm still working on getting the size and colors just right before I show it off. What I do want to show you is this.http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Superpower1976/BELTBITMAP.jpg

Sorry for the size. My Cad guy just sent it to me. It's the first peice that he has put into a 3-d modle. I will soon have a full set of 3-d cad files. I can't wait. The size of this is not to scale, and even if it was the demensions need to be tweaked, but seeing it really got me stoked.

Fesster, great looking shell.
Are you going to cast them or vacuform them?

The Man Of 16
03-16-2007, 03:07 PM
hey man. That model does look good. But if youre interested in a better job, give me a shout. I'll have pictures of my molds that I'm cutting as I type this, and from what I can tell, it looks fantastic. Today was the chest piece, for Fettster, sO I'm just very excited to see the results.

E-mail me at:

My take on the scarlet spider costume. It was my first run at making a costume by completely hand stitching every thing. The costume separates into four parts, mask, shirt, gloves, and pants. It was my take if it was in a movie.

I saw that listing too. Looks interestingly like a scam, but I'm not sure. The seller sure doesn't seem like a costume maker from the look of the feedback, which includes many an auto part!

SPIDEY4FUN your suits are superb !! i was wondering could you supply a plain red and blue suit with an unnatached mask no bricks no webs, i am looking to make a version of the suit worn in the "marvels" the one done by alex ross. i'm in the middle of doing a goblin suit complete with silicone mask that moves with my face and one of those suits would look great to go with it. by the way an early pic of the sculpt is on the green goblin thread. basically what i need is the standard comic book red an blue. was wondering about prices etc, dont mind paying for quality like yours.

Spidey4fun, would you be able to post a front photo of the printable shot so it could be printed onto a t shirt?

they dont sell spider man logo shirts with webbing, could you make one so its printable to be printed onto a t shirt?
like a movie version?

Well I could....but what skills would you learn from that? Why not design your own...like I did. This site is all about making the prefect spidey suit and the fun, enjoyment and sense of accomplishment that comes with doing it yourself. Being able to sit back and say "I made that..that looks cool". Give it a go.. Im sure feel a greater sense of achievement at the end of the project then just printing someone elses work. :yay:

If someone has the knowledge please share I will be the human spidey sponge. I'm not out to sell anything I make I just want to make my webbing for my new suit coming.

NOpe It wasn't the Marvel Knights spidey. At least I didn't think it was.I didn't like how the mask came out.I think the eyes were to small. My fav part of the whole costume was the back spider.I spent forever looking at other versions redrawing and such.I think I had half an art pad of just spiders. But thanks I'm glad its was liked.I'm gonna make another soon.

hi fettster , yeah it is the one from the fx lab although the sculpt has come a long way since the pic was taken. got some really nice skin / pore textures and veining going on now. he's just about ready for moulding in urethane this weekend, and with any luck i should have my first pull by sunday evening. everything is coming together now, just need to attach scale mail to the green unitard and do some gloves/gauntlets and the boots. using ninja tabi as a basis but with a lot of modification. then just a couple of pumpkin bomb accessories and itll be done. been a real labour of love and i cant wait to get it all on for the first time. thinking about building a mock up batglider for my portfolio pics. would love to meet one of you guys at the summer memorabilia show if anyones in the u.k. would be good to get some shots of spidey and the goblin together. gotta say you guys make the best suits around

Well, just got this suit yesterday and LOVED it. Problem is, been doing my 'Punisher' workout for the last couple of months for a suit Brad made me (freakin rocks btw.), and I ordered this Spidey suit from a guy here in the US suit back in December. So needless to say, I'm too big for it. This one has the 3d printed webs...comes with the frames/lenses (you have to attach yourself)...very easy. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

I put it on long enough to see if it fit (which it really didnt), and I was all by my lonesome, hence why I didnt line up the mask correctly, hahaha

HI Folks,

Almost about to print my suit pattern - BUT -

the last few posts seem to highlight how important it is to get the overall size right when you print otherwise you get a wrinkly suit that is too big or a suit that has eyeholes on top of your head because its too small.

I asked this question before but only got one reply which said "don't size the suit to fit you, size yourself to fit the suit."

I understand that and the personal sizing is coming on great, but at the moment I have a Photoshop file that is A3 size and I need to know how how far to scale it up. Is there a measurement from say the middle of the eyes to the ankle for example so that I know how much to scale my artwork? How big is the actual suit, basically?

Any real help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Mart

Actually, my mask is in the right place..and printed fine, I just havent cut the eye holes, so couldnt see if I had it lined up correctly when I took the pics.

As far as sizing goes, I personally dont know how to print them according to size. But if you need help, I know someone who can prob point you in the right direction.

I'm not gonna say don't do it, but let me give you a word of caution for one reason. This type of event is for the children. Well, if you show up and there are two Spideys that could confuse some kids, and downright ruin the suspension of disbelieve for others. I try to do stuff like this with the thought in mind that I want kids to continue to believe for a bit longer. Whatever you do, don't ruin it for them.

I sculpted the face shell over a 23inch head, taking into account the thinkness of teh clay sculpt and the thickness of the casting, id say it will fit upto a 23.5 to 24 inch head comfortably.

Kinda... It's like my own touch on the character.. I'm making it so the mouth can close completely, so it looks like Symbiote Spider-man.. And then I'm making it open, showing teeth, and then It can open further to reveal my face.. Much like the Symbiote would do for Brock.

And all the little kids in the store wanted to say hi to me or shake my hand instead of his ... since I looked like the REAL Spider-Man. It was definitely a good idea to go and show him up. Very impressive work. Both pictures of you in the suit are off the chain. I like the sheen of the material. What did you end up using?

Just an aside: One of those tricky zippers ripped where it makes that almost 90 degree bend to go up the back. Luckily for me, a fabulous tailor at the cleaners near where I work will be able to repair and dry the suit and have it ready in record time next week. Plus she recognized the character of the suit and smiled. And, for a total of $40, that is not a bad repair bill!

Pretty good.. It's hard as h3ll to mask that ***** work.. I gotta be able to create a jaw, that can close like a human, and then open, and expand to reveal my face, and then retract.. ugh.. Hard stuff. It should be out around... idk..

After the movie maybe.. in May.

I know this is off Topic, but I was curious to know WHO WILL BE IN TIME SQUARE NYC FOR SPIDER-MAN 3 ON FRIDAY NIGHT APRIL 4th? I did this for Spiderman 2 on the first night as well. I am not doing the Midnight Showing though just way to late of a letting out. I want to be in Time Square during prime time of the movie. Last time me and my friend both had on suits and traffic had come to a stop at times, and also police on horse back kept the crowds in order around us, and the officers had to get their own pics as well. I think me and my friend were the stars of the show that night. I want to do it again. I will be in Black Suit leaning down the body more for the new Knight Seeker suit for San Diego Comic Con in Mid July. Two other friends are expecting to come, and it would be cool to have a group of us in suit on Friday Night, then hit the movie.
Let me know whos up for it. Get back to me at

Now all that's left for me to cut are the Arms, and hoods and mask and I'll be done.

SlyGuy,
The lenses for venom look great! Did you plasti dip the black areas? If not I would suggest that you do. That way they look a bid more solid and are less likley to tear or deterriorate.

Your frames look really nice, but if you look closely at the movie suit, Venom dosen't really have frames. He just has the mask pouring over the sides of the lenses. I tried to construct what i mean really quick to see if it makes sense-

It was actually pretty easy. You just cut the white part of the frames a little bigger than you usually would, then you cut a hole out of your fabric the same shape as your frames. Then you glue the 2 pieces together (with the white underneath the fabric) just enough so that they stay together. Then you take acrulic puff paint and finish up the endges.

SlyGuyTtjn
04-06-2007, 10:07 PM
What would the actulic puff paint do?

mclean.krieger
04-06-2007, 10:20 PM
What would the actulic puff paint do?

It does two things- it glues the edges of the fabric to the lense and also makes it looks like the symbiote converging around the lense.

ah i get ya, i wouldnt mind making a pair myself, as i want to create a mix of venom and black spiderman movie costumes minus the dye fabric i will just use a black suit.

Even the "best" webbing done from a bottle looks like crap up close. I bought one from a well known maker many years ago. It looked great on the auction but when I got it I nearly cried. It's impossible to get great looking webbing without a mold.

These ones are 74 cm ( from the center of the mask to the tip of the belt), Brad.

Also , thanks for giving me the advice a while back about sizing the webs. It's really helped me out big time. When I make mine, theyre going to be around 77 cm.

But once summer hits, I'll only be making webbing. And I may not be making molds until next september. (Just so everyone knows)

Hey, what's up guys. I rarely post, but I have comments sometimes. I've gotta commend mclean.krieger on what you did with the Venom movie suit thus far. I'm assuming you're doing the whole suit after seeing how awesome the eyes look (gotta love 3d fabric paint!!) That brings me to my other comment for matt.hopper. You said that even the "best" looked like crap up close when using fabric paint. Wow man, not everyone can afford or have the time to work with urethene webbing. Yeah, I'm sensitive about it 'cause I use the paint method and that works for ALOT of Spidey costumers out there! I'll admit it's not without fault, but it gets the job done! I bet MOST Spidey costumers own or have made at least one suit like this. Even though alot of us have been making them for a few years(you get better with time) but there are newbies all the time and you gotta start somewhere.Okay, I'm off your back now. I get grumpy when my suit rides up in the crotch.

He also took an order from me for a suit just before christmas, fortunatly I have only part payed him but my suit was meant to have been completed around the same time as yours.

I too have emailed him a few times and have had no response yet.

I have noticed that he hasnt logged on to the SHH since the 4th of this month, maybe he has gone somewhere for easter?

Hope we find out were he is soon.

Does anyone know where I can go to print my costume? (Dye Sumblimation) I don't have a printer for that. How much does it cost?

Well here's my Venom costume (I'm only doing the mask for now)

Hey all, It's been a while since I've been to this thread, but I figured it was abut time, since, like many of you, I have started a venom suit. This is the first "spiderman-ish" costume I've done myself (webbing and such) so it's been a trip, but here are my progress pics, up until now. Enjoy

I used tulip 3d fabric paint, I'm not sure if thats acrylic, but I think that's what you mean. It works nice and so far, one bottle has been enough to get most of it done.

hmmm im wondering if i would be best going this way, it gives the same effect as 3d webbing, and looks bloody good so far keep it up looks bad ass

Wow no mess? And does it dry too quick? (Ex. Super Glue.. ugh.. )

spiderfan09
04-13-2007, 03:30 PM
Not at all, it takes around 4 hours to completely dry, depending on the thickness of the area. It cleans up ok if you make a mess, but the great thing about the webs on venom is that they are messy, so any imperfections don't matter, I highly recommend it for this. I know some people who use it on spidey suits as well, but it would be a good thing to get practice prior to that.

Hi everyone!

I'm a first time poster, but have been reading this thread for a good while. May I first say that all of you are doing fantastic work. You're so good that all of you have inspired me to take on the task of creating a spidey suit of my own. After doing months of research, I've finally ventured out and taken my first steps in prototype/production land. The only thing I've made so far are my lenses (the suit in the pics was purchased through a friend). I hope they're worthy of being on this board. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know if this has been talked about but the eye frames on the black suit are noticibly thinner & slant in & the top point is way above the web on the mask, where on the red/blue suit the frames slant out with the top point lining up to the web & not going over it. I just wanted to point that out for people buying or planning on making black suits because i see alot of people selling them on ebay claiming to be accurate to the movie & they are not, they are selling the red/blue suit frames claiming they are the for the black suit by themselves or on black masks claiming to be accurate. I posted side by side pics to see the difference. I guess they made them different for the movie black suit to look more evil. I dont mean to come off arrogant or anything, im just obsessed with little details like that lol, although it has been said that eye frame placement makes or breaks a suit & i 100% agree!

Wow! Thanks for all the positive feedback. They're a one piece lense. I was actually lucky and found some of this white plastic at my local craft store. It's somewhat translucent, but not enough so where people can see my eyes (at least I hope they can't). I tried taking pictures and wasn't able to see my hand on the other side. The visibility is pretty good during the day (outside, and inside if there's enough light).

I suppose it's SP1 frames. I just like the white lenses with the red/blue suit. Although I can't totally dismiss the grey/silver version. They give the suit a more serious look to it. I might try and make one so I can compare.

Thanks again everyone!

Dang that's expensive. I've heard $100-$150 before, even $10 or $11, but $310? That's insane.

Was is specially done, or something? Don't you think that's expensive? Is there a cheaper way to do this? What if I just want the mask? Is there a way to do just that?

Yeah I bought the Venom one. I just wanna do the mask for now. My first time. I'm having trouble find a printer, or a reasonable price. Did you buy them from Spideyboone (or something like that?) Is your Venom one newer or older? (He updated the pattern like two or 3 monthes ago.)...

Okay well as for your problem, I think I gotcha covered. Take arm piece, and put in on your left arm (webbing facing upwards of course), and wrap it around your arm, with the blue folding under your arm. Sew the blue parts together, and then the reason why the red is longer is because you attach that to your shoulder part (left shoulder) and the blue goes under your armpit to be sewn.

Does that help?:woot:

extremevenom
04-18-2007, 09:18 PM
Yup I bought them from spideyboone. He was great to purchase from, really nice.I got the updated one.At the time when I was getting them It was the older version, but he had no prob giving me the new one instead.Like I said he was great to purchase from> Try looking in your local area for a printer(use the yellow pages)it beats having to pay shipping if you find someone far away.If you call one place and thay can't do it ask if they know someone who can.Don't give up trying local.Somone in your area should be able to do it.Just stay on that phone.....I spent a good part of a morning calling around.

Luckly I had a extra set of arms and palm printed. I figured if I was gonna mess any part up it would be the glove area.Expensive practice run but its gonna be worth it.

Sew up your arm b4 you attach it to the shoulder. Cut away the orange part but stay clear of the webbing line by about 4mm. Cut away the rest..the orange part. After you've sewn the arm to the shoulder you'll need to sew the green lines...from up on the shoulder to the arm pit. I draw the line the wrong directions on the picture.
