Any one made a venom costume? Or have the webbing patterns for venom?

Nick's correct. :)
He sure is. Here is the mask from SM2. The webbing didn't change for the third.

One more thing, any secret to making sure that the eyes are level when applied to the mask?

hey guys, what kind of paint would u suggest for painting the edges of a urethane spider?
Gundam
06-13-2007, 07:43 PM
If i where painting web's or spider i would use duplicolor Gunmetal grey
then use an enamel paint pin or brush and paint in the black.
SpidermanC
06-13-2007, 07:55 PM
oh, well im just painting the edges of the back [red] spider black. the whole thing was red urethane.
i was looking more for a specific type/brand of paint that does best with urethane.

just black acrylic paint should work fine for the back spider, it doesn't need to stretch a whole lot so it should work fine.

lol wtf? I would buy Fettster's faceshell, but I dont have that much mula. And if I did, I'd want him to make frames because of the magnetic feature on his faceshells. So we're looking at $250.. WAYY too much. I'm more for.. $70 or less.

So, Fettster, any word yet on whether you're going to be selling copies of your color-corrected version of the pattern?

i feel it looks better.. to me, when it was red all over it felt kind of naked. but it was still an amazing spider to begin with. so heres the back spider before and after. (again sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures)

dont be fooled by the lighting, thinking that the spider is only darker due to that. when you paint the sides black, it darkens the whole spider for some reason. my guess is the black edges give it an illusion. but i love the color. and it gives the spider real depth.
if anyone plans to do this...its very tedious.. so you should have a good 2-3 hours and loads of patients on your hands. :)

hey man i love the pics. i agree it does look a whole lot better even if it is dark. i bought a spider before and it was solid red like yours and it does look like its missing something. so i am going to buy that same spider from brad tomorrow and how long did it take for you to get it? and it looks like the legs on this spider comes to sharp points. do they have sharp points like the pic he put up?http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j7/Spidey4fun/Spiders/BackSpider.jpg the one i bought before was rounded at the ends of the legs. also do the legs on this back spider stay in one position or do they move easy? oh and by the way could you tell what color and type of paint you used and what i should do cause i want mine to look just like yours.

I really dont apprieciate the online beating.
Let me just clarify a few thing to everyone here before you give me a bad name.
First off, i have a lot of orders for lenses and face shells coming in from paying customers, you havent paid for your lenses therefore the people who have get priority.
Secondly, i dont get much time on here these days so i dont get to answer all pm's straight away and make posts and with you changing your mind on your lenses so much, its alot of pm to answer.
Finally,As always, life has a tendency of throwing you off course, I had a good friend fighting in Iraq and he was killed just over 2 weeks ago, we had to wait for his body to be flown back and then wait for the autopsy so we have only just had the funeral so im sure you can apprieciate that my focus hasnt been on spiderman lenses.
I didnt want to have to post or mention about my friend but i know feel i have to justify myself here.
as i said in the pm i just sent you, your lenses are finished, as soon as you pay for them, i will send them
Nfox, send me a pm mate.

get a good frontal shot of spidy and count the webbing lines from top to bottom like a grid, then do the same for your suit and that should ensure its spot on.

This is a question that needs to be answered by somebody who has studied the spider-man costume print files or has screen printed or dye subliminated the pattern.
The brick pattern over the suit is actually squeezed in hexagons if you look closely, and in some areas of the suit the hexagons stretch in with to become a more honey-comb pattern. what i want to know is, these areas that turn into honeycomb areas, where they printed onto the suit like that from the computer file. or does the suit stretching make the uniform feild of brick pattern stretch to different shapes. it would be easy for me to know if the suit gets printed with the same repeating pattern over the entire suit. (or mainly the mask in my case) or if the brick pattern has to be altered in certain areas. Thank you so much in advance!

the brickwork pattern deforms to stretch and contract on the hills and the valleys of the musculature.
if you look at the picute of the pattern i posted a few pages back, you can see how it changes.

Sly's right.
the reason my shell is expensive is because they are hand made in fibreglass.
they would be much cheaper if i vac formed them as i could make one in a minute but the fiberglass takes a good few hours to do, then it has to be trimmed and buffed, then painted, all in all is a days work.
anyone in the uk got a vac for machine and oven for sale?

Kevin (KJ Shortie)... you've asked me 100's of question over the past few years. You know my email address!!!!
Thanks Urbandc...hey...hows my very first dye-sub spidey suit holding up?
It's doing just fine. The zipper repair came out awesome. Just as you did, she used the invisible blue zippers which means you have to take your time zipping up the suit, but the finished results are awesome.
As you're aware from previous blogs, the front and back spiders are latex and were added by me to the suit with 'super glue' . This is the 2nd time I've had the suit drycleaned and everything came out fine.
BTW, are you ever thinking about doing a Venom headpiece for the black symbiote suit.

I have just recieved a couple of spidy4fun's spiders and wanted to give an independant review on their quality.
the castings are flawless, there is very little clean up to do on these, i think their cast in shore 30? so they are nice a stretchy but hold their form well.
the colours are real nice too, so in a nut shell, these spiders are amazing, much better than any others i have seen.
If anyone is sitting on the fence on buying these, hopefully this will tip you over, top quality and a great person to deal with.
thanks Brad

Spiderman123456,
Can I ask what you're hoping to spend and making a suit? To be realistic, even if the $13 patterns are worth printing, you still have to buy the material & get them printed. I'm assuming that's going to cost $200 to $300 dollars (can anyone chime in?). Then, unless you know how to sew you'll have to pay a seamstress (anybody?). Not to mention incidentals like shoes, zippers, webbing (anywhere from $ to $$$$), frames & lenses, etc. Basically, EXPECT to pay several hundreds of dollars to make your own suit, especially if this is your first attempt. I'm not trying to discourage you from the task, as I'm currently making my own suit, but understand you're not going to end up with a suit for $20 to $50. If you're still interested, maybe you should look at buying pre-printed lycra from one of the sellers on ebay (or here if anybody's selling). They've already got decent (or better) patterns and a connection to a printer, so they can probably offer a better price than you could negotiate yourself. Then sew it, or have it sewn, and finish it. Can anybody recommend a print seller? If however, you want to start from scratch to make your own suit, a lot of the homework and research will fall to you, as most members here simply don't have the time to walk you through the entire proces of construction and materials step by step. I'm sure you can get a little help here and there, as long as you don't start taking the board for granted (YOU have to contribute to this project too). I hope something in here helps you out. Have a great day!
P.S. This post ended at "Have a great day!" until I saw your previous 2 posts... now it ends:
SCREAMING AND CRYING DOESN'T HELP!!! WHY DON'T YOU DO SOME RESEARCH YOURSELF INSTEAD OF BEGGING EVERYBODY ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU???!!!!! NOBODY HERE IS GOING TO HAND YOU A FRICKIN' SUIT!!!!!:cmad: NOW...

there was one user who wanted a venom costume for like $15 bucks,
how can you take that person seriously?
if you plan on spending at least $500.00 you will be able to get a descent suit that you can build yourself.

I think the the seller moonez account might of been hacked into and another user is using his account (and rep). If you notice in the description the hacker tries really hard to get you to contact his email in the description. Not the "Ask seller feature" which I bet is not the hacker's email. In his email he will try to setup outside arrangement for payments, which at that point Ebay has no control over.
Also notice that in the begining of description it has one of those Ebay templates for selling a book.

why are you so obnoxous? are you stupid or just 12 years old? if you really need help, then try reading more of this thread since it's essentially the size of a book. it's bound to have most of the info you need in it. for anything else you can try PMing the really good costume makers on the board and leave everyone else out of it. and stop doing crap like ":trans: :trans: :trans: :trans: :whatever: :whatever: :whatever: " for no reason. it just makes you look stupid.

A few questions about the eyes on the mask...
(1) What type of glue do you guys use to adhere the aluminum mesh to the foamie black borders? I tried SuperGlue, but it didn't work.
and
(2) What do you use to coat the inside of the mesh black (to cut down on glare) and the outside white? I tried using a thick permanent marker for the black, but it came off fairly easily. Wouldn't paint (even spray paint) simply leak through the holes onto the other side? Or do you dry-brush each side using a minimum of paint? Or something different?
All techniques/thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks for the inspiration...

I use gel super glue and it works just fine except my eye frames are molded so it might be slightly different. It also helps to clamp the frames and mesh down with those paper clamps and let them sit for about five minutes. I also just use two layers of regular metal mesh without making the inside black and I really don't get that much glare.
I have terrible problem with adding lenses i can`t set them in right position it`s annoying

I was confused because he said lenses which could mean that he had trouble positioning the lenses in the frames. Yeah, a lot of times when I glue on my eyes I have to look at a photo to make sure they look right.

People don't realize just how critical the lense placement is. It truly can make or break the mask.

right obove my last post, if you pay w/ paypal, it should take care of the currency conversion, yeh, you can bid, but youd have to add like $12 to the shipping price if you win to cover international shipping. Also, how tall/ big are you, the suits pretty small, thats why I'm sellin it., but yeh, just to check, cause you dont wanna get it and then find out it's too small.

well, I've started a new suit, this is a finish it yourself suit. I'm pretty sure also that if you have a card, or bank account or somethin, you can register in paypal. I just prefer using paypal and ebay because it's more secure and stuff. By the way young-nyc, that suit looks really nice. Brad did a good job on the seams so you can still see the webbing. Very Nice.

this may have already been answered in the near past, although what type of adhesive do u all find best for attaching lenses?
if I make lense frames out of latex, then i've found that after the frames are done, using more liquid latex and pressure works good for securing the lenses. I just use mesh so it seeps into the mesh and holds good. and the 2 latex surfaces stuck together great. probably wouldn't work gret though if you also had a clear plastic surface w/ your lense, gel superglue seems like the way to go.

But what about loc-tite or a material glue for a lense with plastic? I was planning on using those for a suit.

I have a question about the first movie, i was watching it today and i noticed that both Mj and Norman Osborne both tell peter "don't tell harry". Mj says it when peter finds here and finds out she is working at a coffee/restaurant and is ashamed, then when Norman dies as the goblin at the end. Is their some kind of underlining meaning or something to this?

As you where saying about the faceshell being fettster's.. do the lenses magnetically locked in, or have you glued them onto the mask..

i decided not to use the magnetic feature,
the shell is completely separate from the mask, and the lenses/frames are glued to the mask.
there are 2 ways to use the magnets.
1> glue your shell to the mask, and then connect the frames magnetically
2> just pull the mask over the shell and connect the frames magnetically...this however is prone to making the mask shift time to time.
hope that makes sense.
i chose to just keep it separate incase i don't want to wear the face shell.

i would, but seeing that this is fettster's faceshell,
it'll probably sell for just as much :cwink:
Alright, even though your face sweated in it.. lol
Well it was $150 correct? See I'm just looking to get a cheaper one because I'm just gonna cut the shell to make a jaw/face for my Venom mask.. Any suggestions?

I've had a few guys ask about making the webbing darker on my black suit. Here's the darker webbing I use on the red/blue transferred to the black suit.

Not sure how visable it would be when printed.
:)
Hey Orlando have you ever finished this pattern?

I feel ya. This whole spidey suit business is beginning to feel like buying a computer. As soon as you take it home, a new better model is being released and yours is obsolete!

LOL...sorry guys. Was'nt my idea. I get guys shooting me through emails all the time saying...try this..or try that. I just go with what looks good. I'll get a small sample printed..but I'm guessing the webbing will be too dark to see. :)

Ya gotta keep improving! Nothing wrong with that, and also because I'm one of the ones shooting the emails to try new things! :D
