what about me? i'm not Ben.
Hello guys,
Some time ago i posted a message on this board as I was looking to get hold of materials to start making a spidey suit.
A guy called Benjamin Yetter sold me a faceshell, eyeframes and a disk with the file to print. I believe his nickname on this board is KJ_Shortie, though I'm not 100% sure about that.
We are now a couple of weeks later and I still haven't received any of the goods. Does anyone of you have any experience with this guy?
If anybody can help me to get hold of a faceshell and some eyeframes, then please let me know.
I'll keep you posted.

To all Muscle Suit makers:
Don't know if there's a better place to post this, but i got a good response last time, so...
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/43/bodymuscle21copypy5.jpg
My plan is:
Life cast half my body (using fibre-glass rolls that have replaced plaster casts at hospitals) then fill with expanding filler (that DIY squirty can stuff for holes in brick wall etc)
Using a scale 'catsuit' paper template, cut out 2 lots of black lycra e.g an arm, pin one round model arm (don't serger yet) and create biceps, triceps etc with foam. Cut matching foam for other side of body.
With the second lycra arm, pin over the top of foam and zig-zag stitch together to make 'pockets of foam'
Then serger the catsuit pieces together.
Is there anything I should be careful with or any huge errors you can see in my drawing (which i drew with just a mouse btw :word:)
The light areas are where i don't expect to need padding
Thanks in advance :yay:

Hey.
I have had some auctions going on but haven't said anything about it...If anyones interested.
I'm letting all of my collection go cheap. I haven't the time any more to pursue Spider-man as college is taking over.
I have 2 costumes left, some armor and a few patterns like the ones i used to make my costume.
Cheers

This site is one big FAQ page. If you want to condense it and pick out the best bits (which is a cool idea) unfortunatly you're going to have to read through all 724 pages!
If you want the original computer file, it's best known as the 'TKcomics pattern'. You'll have to ask someone nicely for it.
If you want a spidey print, there's about 4 guys around at the moment that print them (more research though)
On another note, my muscle suit's coming together nicely and a few 'making of' pics will be up soon :woot:

I went to post office today after work to pick-up a work of art! dang! Talk about making the perfect spidey suit! This is just awesome. Can't wait to start working on these webs. I'm really scared in sticking them to my suit though. Don't want to ruin it.

Wow Brad! certainly could make going to the bathroom in the suit easier.
Though the waist gets alot of stretching and pulling when moving around and flipping...would you have it fastened in anyway to prevent it riding up?

I'm not doing that part. It was a request so I said I'd leave the buttons / hooks or whatever up to person who wanted it that way. Should be interesting to see how turns out. I know one thing.... you can forget Urethane spiders or webbing. It's just too hard to put on..... well if you have big shoulders and a small waist. :woot:

Hi all,
A few of you have following my auctions i guess. I had lots of stuff to get rid of and it's nearly gone.
I messed up on some info and eBay canceled 2 of my auctions which was upsetting anyway...
I still have 3 patterns which I'm turning them into partial kits. With spiders of your choice and frames to match.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260206545307&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr2_PcY_BID_IT&refitem=260207459271&itemcount=2&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget
There all going cheap at that price so bid if your interested.
Still got the Goblin amour as well.

Can anybody help me with more information on how to attache lenses to a spidey costume? I found somebody to sew up my costume, but i have no clue on how to attach the lenses to the spandex.
I presume you need to stretch the mask before attaching them, but do you glue them on, stich them?
Pictures of the inside of a mask would help...
Many thanks for helping me out!

What I do is while it's still sewn up put a mannequin head in the mask and then superglue the eyes on and in the correct place. Then turn it inside out and cut the fabric out from the eyes.

dude, to avoid the problem that so many of us have had hiring people to sew our costumes for us, MAKE SURE THE SEAMSTRESS KNOWS WHAT YOU WANT. Even if they say they do, i would check every other day to make sure it is going the way you want. Once it begins to go bad, their is no turning back, don't fall into the same trap where the seamstress says she knows what she is doing, then gives you spider mittens and a spider hood instead of a mask! I would give the person pictures of every peice and how they are sewn together,(you can find pictures of almost every peice of the suit that needs to be sewn together right here in the thread!). good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Hey. Token noob here (but then, with 700+ pages, who isn't? :cwink:). So, quick question. Well, two of them.
1. If one wanted to break into the hobby of high-quality costuming, what advice would you give him?
2. If money were no object, where might one do business of the Spider-man suit variety?
I think creating a basic guide of sorts would be a worthwhile endeavor. The thread is understandably difficult to navigate for its longevity, and as far as I know, it's never been attempted before. But any information you could pass on to me would be appreciated.

Hey fuzzbuster, thanks for the reply, and for directing me to Brad.
Ehh. I've been a lurker here for a few years, so I know there's definitely been a trial and error thing to this whole process. I do a lot of recreational reading though, so I wouldn't mind wading through the bulk of it again, if someone could give me a decent jump-in point; to cut straight to the refined method. I imagine that's a rather specific request.
Do what you can with it. On the other hand, if anyone else is aware of any other high-profile sellers, be sure to get in my PM box. There's already a few of you in there, so you won't be lonely.

Thanks!

Hey....
Thats from the digital pattern I created.
Nice.
It was from a guy on BOTB originally.. could be you.. but I did some major works to it. The original was for a batman style suit and required trucks. So it had no hips, upper thigh and bottom on the pattern. So I basically re-made from the knees up. Also re-made the abbs and added a little more to the oblique muscles. Not sure how the original pattern worked as it seem to be missing the side of the neck so I made the neck pattern down to shoulder seam and worked in the trap muscles remaking the back... as the pattern I had was missing this part. Finally finished by putting a texture throughout the entire pattern. So.. it's roughly based on a batman style suit with some MAJOR MAJOR mods.

look man where I am from there are no artist my friend had a piece of a sculptor I used this to make the muscle suit.
I just tried this out, I usually make lenses for frames.
just trying to see if I could make that suit and I did. Like I said before Sorry if that sculpt was another persons design. The sculpt was all to pieces when I got it. I was just trying to restore it, to see if I could.

It's sad when a scammer gets caught and then tries to lie. You had plenty "clue" of what you were doing. You photoshopped pictures from one of his full sculpts, to his smaller sculpt. You uploaded about 4 diff. pics that were photoshopped (very poorly I might add) to look like you were sculpting it. But they just looked like blurry versions of fx's that gradually got unblurry and more clean..

I went back and readspideyfan27's posts and he said he was trying to but some frames from Brad (post #18129) and then a few posts later he claims that he makes frames (post # 18148) to cover up his tracks. A little bit iffy. Scamers are the worst low lifes.
On a lighter note Brad your ninja suit and the one you sent SpidermanC look amazing.

come dude leave the guy alone already. he addmited he was wrong said sorry why not just give him a chance to redeem him self. as far as him rescultpting brads frames he never made any reference to doing that. all he did was ask brad to sell him some frames so he could try to make lenses for them. no foul no harm. so why dont we get back to what this fourm is about instead of sounding like grandmas bridge game on wednesday night.

because we've seen it happen way too many times...
people buying moulds, copying them, and then passing it off as their own.
yes we can give spideyfan27 a break, but it's kinda funny how the pictures were exactly the same ones as fx...
if it was at least a different angle or something, it might be more credible, or at least say, "i don't have any pics, but it's going to look like the one on this site"
maybe given the benefit of a doubt he did his own work, then just take some real pics and post them..along with today's newspaper =)

i can agree with what your saying
but lets face it this thread is based on copying someone eleses work
nobody on the board self concived the spiderman suit. we are all just trying to copy somone elses work to perfection weather we use a tk file to print the suit or we sculpt our own spiders and lenses and use movie shots for reference the idea is to perfectly copy something that somone else made to make ourselfs and others happy but when all is said and done in the end we have to accept that it was never our concept only our talant and who knows maybe he'll make a muscle suit that looks just like the pictures and if so more power to him. in the meantime i've been sculpting a new set of lenses cause im tired of panhadeling off others. i was going to wait to post pics till they were done but coinsidering the circumstanses i'll be sure to post pics of the clay cast in the form stage so i dont get accused of forgery also.

I didn't glue the lenses or frames yet. Those chest spiders are too damn tricky to glue on. Anyways, I used super glue gel. It's kinda have a rubbery characteristic when it dries plus it holds and dries pretty quick. I am still looking for a shoe/boot for the feet. I also have not attached the back spider too.

I know it's off topic, but the Vader statue is actually a "Rubie's". Don Post never made a 1:1 full scale replica. D.P. got the licensing rights to the life size Stormtrooper and Boba Fett, and Rubie's got the exclusive rights to Darth Vader. They are the only ones to ever produce a licensed 1:1 replica. The Rubie's are hard to find in any kind of decent shape since although they were very well made they were fragile. That has led to people thinking that they look crappy, but if you see one in mint condition they look AWSOME. Not too many left. :csad:

I have an uncompleted suit from him it is a tough process he gives pretty good instructions;however I suggest if you've never sewn.. start practicing or get someone you know who can sew, because it is a lot of work and there is not much room for error.
But if you happen to get ahold of him and get a package, just take your time follow the directions best you can (some areas you may have to improvise a little, meaning type of tools, etc.) and if you do that yours will come out as good as some of the ones you have seen on this post. When he was available he would answer any questions about the process pretty quickly just, not sure if anyone has heard from him in awhile.

Hey guys! First off, amazing work!
I stroll down here often to just look and drool at your guys' costumes and talents. I am an artist, but I just dont have the skill or means to make a costume such as yours.
I am currently shopping around for my very own spidey costume. If slight modifications are allowed, here's what I am looking for:
Spider-Man 2 movie suit with:
1) Back spider from SM1
2) Slightly modified muscle shading (slightly darker hues around the collar bone/neck area; and "skinnier" abs - i dont like how wide they made the pattern)
3) Detachable mask
Now, in terms of the mask, one wouldnt have to worry about getting the mask to secure to the suit itself - that is something I can worry about (unless you have a good idea). And I dont need a face shell, because, surprisingly, my ol' noggin looks pretty swell under a spidey mask :)
Also, I'm a smaller guy (about 5'7", 143lbs), do you guys make a "one size fits all" suit, that well, probably will hang off of me, or can you make suits for various body sizes?
Again, I'm currently shopping around for the best price/time frame with what I'm looking for. Any takers?
Feel free to pm me, or we can talk business/ideas publicly, whichever.
Keep up the great work!

I hope that one day I myself will create my own Spiderman Replica Suit When I purchase the Kit and all the supplies I need for it probably more than $1000.00 :wow:. Is there talent needed to make one or do you start off by scratch and work your way up learning all these skills of sewing and everything? how do you guys purchase the kits and the supplies needed? Where do you guys Bye the Urethane Spiders or how do you guys make them? Where do you guys buy the Urethane Webbing for the Suits? I hear that you spend no more than 100 Hours for one to Perform a Perfect Replica Suit. Thats AMAZING and really hard to accomplish but Ive seen many great results. I give all of you who has ever made a Replica Suit lots of Props.:woot: Keep up the great work

Yeah.. your webbing was also pretty frail to begin with. A decent set of webbing would have handled it a little better.

Hey guys, just a quick post to say that I have a S4F Comic style suit here that needs a good home. Its 85% done, just need to stitch the zipper in place (which I will provide), sew some shoes in, attach some lenses and spiders (which I will also provide). PM me if you are interested as I am willing to let it go fairly cheaply. I will also send any pics if you want. I just never got around to finishing the suit but it will look sweet once done as the colours and fabric are amazing. Well.. they would be as Brad made them. Lol.
Cheers

i was out there for a few hours trying to see as many children as possible before the pain of my face shell pressing against my face was to much to bare. Only a few shots made it back to me so i will share them here with you guys. We raise a bit of money for charity which is always good..... But i must say being out there as spidey and the reaction from kids and adults alike was well worth it with out question! I don't think i have been hugged as much as i was that day in a long time LOL.. Also some of the sweet things kids had to say was mind blowing i almost felt like a super hero for a little bit and has really given me more of a reason to keep on going with these charity drives, volunteering Ect.... I was really questioning why i did it, now i doubt i ever will question it again after that day!
But much like my hero spiderman once the mask came off.... just like peter parker i had a bill staring me in the face when i got back home LMAO.

Gundam,
Try wearing a winter skull cap or two underneath the shell. I have Ollie's suit as well and the undershell was a little large on me, so wearing the hats underneath not only filled out the head a little more, it also alleviated from the shell pressing against more forehead. And no, it really doesn't make it any hotter or more uncomfortable.

Actually, Tobey is not really that well built. They use a muscle undersuit on him and on the stunt doubles. Without it, Tobey is really scrawny. Well-toned and in shape (at least from what they showed in the first movie) but not nearly as "big" as when he's in costume.

I do have someone in mind I was just trying to keep my options open. You probably know him too because you have been working together with him on the suits and both of yours and his suits are amazing ;) Yours suits and his look exactly identical except I think the lenses on your suit is different then his and the back Urethane Spider on the Black Suit is different than his as well.
His name is Brad and his website where he sells his suits is Spidey4Fun I made contact with him before he sent me a varity of suit options and I dont think that I would find better ones and less expensive than his. I believe he's getting married this month. He said he will start orders again in mid April So I will wait on him. I love the pictures of your suit and his as well I think both of you guys have done an awsome job on these suits, you guys keep up the great work on that. I hope my Black Urethane Spider suit and Red/Blue Black Grey Urethane Spider Suit will turn out like both of yours when I order mine from Brad. I am going to order both mine when he comes back ;)

Not to make a big deal out of the Tobey thing, but the person said Tobey was "built", which is what I disagree with. I wanted to point out that Tobey is thin, scrawny, etc., and uses a muscle suit under the Spidey costume. Lots of people think Tobey is really that "big" but he's not. Even when he was "posing" in front of the mirror in the first movie, he was in great shape but not big by any means.

Hey Guys
First Post. I have been browsing this thread for nearly two hours and haven’t even scratched the surface (With over 730 pages). As many of the Images are missing I was hoping you guys could help me out by answering some questions.
Ideally I want a Black Symbiote movie replica costume to wear to a fancy dress party in July. I want it with the 3D webbing and a separate.
I have no experience with making this sort of thing so I think It would be best for me to have one made.
Can you tell me if it is better to buy all the parts and pass them on to a taylor or go to someone who can make the suite 100% ?
I have picked up bits of information from reading the masses of posts here but I am hoping you can confirm or put me strait on a few issues.
I have read that fettster makes the best frames and lenses is this true ?
Who should I go to for the best face shell ?
What about the webbing/spider symbols ?
Is there anyone who uses all those components to make a suite or do most suit makers use their own components ?
I have found the websites of two suite creators are there anymore out there ?
AZspidey did you make your symbiote suite yourself where did you get the reflective fabric ?
Orlando Spidey did you make that symbiote suite yourself ? Do you have any more photos ?
All of your help will be greatly appreciated guys.
Thanks

HI everyone I am new to your most insightful board.
I am a photographer in West TN, meaning nothing is around. I am doing a photo essay using super heros for ST judes childrens hospital, I am shooting 12 different supers and spidey is one of them.
I was trying to make my own suit and totally screwed it up at the webbing point. I guess, is there a way one of You might be able to help me out. I can email you the first in the series, it was the flash.
St Jude does a lot for sick children and I know it would help the healing process. Is there anyone willing to help me out.
Where I screwed up on mine was the webbing. I tried and failed, now I have very little time to get an awesome photo of spiderman for them. Any suggestions or options I would appreciate.
Trevor.

Thanks.
I was leaning that way. I really dig his classic spiderman suit.
I also like his batman suit.
does anyone know the easiest way to heat seal acrylic with an Iron? Is it just an iron and a towel, then go over it. I need to heat seal some acrylic and it says heat seal with an iron? is that all I do?

I just got my new suit from Brad. It's great! It's the first of this pattern to be printed.
I'm going for more of a "Silver Age" spidey.

And the eyes/frames I'm working on. Still need to attach them to the mask, but that's going to be a two person job, or atleast require the use of a mannequin head :)

I don't know if this person knows or not but the mask is a replica. It might be an OVDH. I know someone at Sony, they told me that no complete masks were ever let out to the public, only the half masks were sold by Sony for all 3 films. They were cut in half, and only the front face part was sold. No matter how good it looks, it is fake. I received confirmation that it cannot be real. The only way it can be real is if it's stolen.
Also, note the category he put it in. He didn't put it in the original prop category because ebay red flags fake props sold in the original prop category.

Thats no OVDH webbing is to thick also the gunmetal has no cracking at all in some places of the mask:wow: The lenses are very impressive i think it might be for real or a great replica the lenses match the film lenses as far as i can see!

The entire mask was different for part 2 and 3. It had a different raised web pattern a different fabric and differently printed brick pattern. It also had different frames. He says this is a Spider-Man 1 mask. It's clearly the pattern from 2 and 3.
By your pics, (very cool by the way) you proved it's a Spider-Man 3 mask, not a Spider-Man 1 mask as he claims.

I agree, it looks great. But why does he say it's from Spider-Man 1, when it's clearly the pattern from 2 and 3?
Also, no full masks were ever released to the public. Only the front half was ever sold for all three by Sony/Hollywoodvault on ebay. In the unlikely event it's real, it's stolen according to a friend who works for Sony.
I've seen replicas that would fool Raimi.

Hmm, that's a little off from what Brad and I talked about.
Anyways I'm almost finished with a Spidey4fun suit. It has his urethane webs, spiders, and lense frames, but the actual lenses will be a little different. It will be for sale when I'm finished for $2500.
I've only got a couple interests so far..no real buyers yet though. So if anyone's interested and wants it by a certain time let me know and I'll try to work on it more than I currently am.
