Martin,

All is not lost... It looks good from the front... call them and tell them where they screwed up. Use that as leverage for them to fix the errors. It can be fixed, really.... just the back, gloves and boots really... if not, do the boots yourself.

EEEEEEHOLEH!!!!! what a dissapointment! Its pretty funny, but i can totaly understand your anger. whoosh, thats nothing compared to the spiderman double sided poster i ordered from all posters.com and it cost me 45 bucks and it came with a fold inward when i reseived it rolled up. when i unrolled it, i could see the bend marks going all the way down. even though its not so visible, ill always know its not perfect and i dont wanna wait even longer to get another damn poster oh well, you my friend, must have them fix it though. lol

Hi All!
I'm back!
Been swampped! but I have crawled out from under the wreckage and am here again
a couple of comments on the many posts I just read. To the guy that got the "Professionally made" spider suit. What you did get looked not bad when you posted the picture of you wearing it. You should be able to use it (after they repair some things) and have a pretty nice costume. It will take some work but, you will have a good end result. So, You can do it!
Spandexwear.com. I dont think so Please. I have seen their stuff I think anyone here could do a better costume than their black suit.

I just saw the posting on teh Superhero costume thread about one of my black suits selling for $1500+ on ebay. I am very glad the guy backed out. I only get $360 for one and $1500 is a ripoff! You could get four suits for that!
I hope everyone is well in my absence.
Later
Joseph

hey man, spandexwear's black suit is perfect! i have tried it on. the only thing is the person modeling it on there web site is the owner, who is... well... not in spiderman shape. i tried it one however it was awsome. plus they did a great sewing job on my costume and are nice people to work with.

btw all,

I recieved my Eaves Brookes spidey suit today. Its in great condition.Apart from the eyes, its still a fantastic costume and holds up better in my opinion than the more moderm Marvel Promotional suit.
Ive wanted onre of these since I can remember, everyone said "you can make a better one yourself but" but thats missing the point.I remember watching Nicholas Hammond and meeting a Marvel actor at my local shop and dreaming of owning one of these suits.
Well now I do.
Nuff said
Mick

Mike,

Your Eaves and Brooks Costume is great, it looks in very good shape considering it is probably quite old. That is the classic web pattern from the Nic Hammond show.

You are right, it is a nicer costume than the present day one, that is used for promotions.

Ok... here are some pics, how i made the eyes. Poop quality, but the best i have:

First:

What do we need? The white stuff, the black stuff (a desk pad... you can get it in a office-shop), a thin liner, a cutter and some glue.

Step 2:

User your computer and print the eyes on a paper.

Step 3:

Glue them on the black stuff and cut them out of it.

Step 4:

Cut the white stuff out. A bit greater than what youīve cutted out of the inside of the eyes.

Step 5:

Heat the white stuff in the baking-oven. Not to hot. You donīt want to melt it... just make it smooth. About 4 minutes in 50°C is enough.

Step 6:

Put the white stuff on a styropor-egg or something equal. You have to hurry, cause it will cold down very fast. To make it hold the form, hold a towel around it and put it in cold water.

Step 7:

Glue it all together and you have the lenses.
They are only looking yellow, cause i have to work on the pics.

Hope you all get an idea, what i made.

Martin

[ 02-09-2002, 02:21 AM: Message edited by: Germanspider ]

What i would like to know:
We should all breath under the mask... i hope ALL!

But when i breath, the lenses got steam up.
And then i canīt see anything.
So i have to chosse: Breath and donīt see, or donīt breath and see... but the secondy way wonīt work really long.
Is there anything i could do about it?

Martin

This is to anyone out there....
What do you guys do with the costumes that you have if you don't wear them (not that you could wear them all the time, but I'd probably wear it under my street clothes every day, just in case)? Do they just hang in a closet or are they on a mannequin posed in the corner of a room? Just curious. Of corse if you don't have space then I would gladly store it for you...Just kidding.

[ 02-09-2002, 04:30 AM: Message edited by: Spiderrman ]

germanspider: you might want to try a sporting goods store. they usually sell a product that will prevent your eyes from fogging up. People buy it for piantball games so their goggles dont fog up. Worth calling around and asking. Plus, if you put holes in your eye pieces you might end up with the 70's show looking suit.

Real

Allow me to introduce my self..
My name is Ron, and have been lurking here for a long while now...The more I read and see here the more I realize that your skills are far beyond my own, but I do wish to realize the dream of being Spider-man.
When I was a kid I used to say my bedtime prayer, which always concluded with "and please let me be Spider-man when I grow up. Amen." Well I'm 31 now, and I'm still not "grown up", and I still pray to be Spider-man ...so on with my question...

Hey guys...I am fairly confident that I can follow a pattern and sew a spandex body suit. However I think that as a novice I would be unable to cut the individual pieces of red and blue to sew together...soooo what if I made a white body suit, and airbrushed all the colors on to it? I would seem that it would make for a seamless costume.
So whaadaya think?
regards,
Ron

Welcome Boobie!!!
The idea of brushing is ok... but another idea:
Buy a blue suit, mark the red parts with a liner and cut it of. So you have a pattern to cut out of red lycra.
The next is only sewing...

Martin
BTW: Iīm 31 too and also not "grown up"...

[ 02-13-2002, 11:32 AM: Message edited by: Germanspider ]

I also started modeling recently becasue my agent likes the young look, and the more built type. But one thing I cant get over is how much my body has changed in 1 Year and 2 months. And now that I have my suit I have had it altered 3 times in the past 6 months so far, and the thing is now getting tighter around my upperbody, mainly the shoulder area, and the arms, also I have to take in more from my ab area very soon, it is getting looser more and more. I was suppose to be leaning more out but in the process I was adding more muscle mass, as I was defining, isn't that a flip ?
But one thing I like is that since the suit is contouring more to my muscle structure, I look more like I want too in the suit.

Thank you so much for the compliment on the pic.

Sp.Yetter emailed me to ask what I did to lose the weight and I am not too sure if I replied to him or not. I have been kind of busy with a presentation I had to do for my agent, and working my full time job, along with another project. I am just a busy camper, but it keeps me out of trouble.

Well Sp.Yetter I guess I will answer that question here, and maybe it will help out a few others in the process, and motivate them as well.

Okay I started this process on Jan 1, 2001 at 265lbs 44 waist. I vowed to never to look like that again, I have been heavy since I was 13 that was half my life, just got tired of it.

I did High Protein and Low Carb eating (((People NOTE NOTE, **As you can see I did NOT say DIET)))

I worked out 6-7 days a week 2-3 cardio days and 4 days of lifting weights.

By June I was down to 202lbs. Impressive yes, but my excess flesh was hanging alot. Since then I have been working on building a little more muscle and tightening my skin for that past few months. I am now at 210, 34 waist comfortably and I would say I look pretty decent.

But anyone can do it, you just have to have the motivation, and desire to stick to your plan. My motivation was my suit. I paid a good amount for it, and I preordered it, because I knew if I did not have the dementions I was ordering when it comes to my door, I would be so mad at myself. Once you put an investment into something, you better do what it takes to make sure it is a success.

Nuff Said from me tonite

Hey everyone,
I'm new to the board as a member, but I've been reading and watching all the FANTASTIC work that everyone has been doing here. I had a few questions that I could not find answers to in the past postings. I have the sewing of the suit pattern down, no problem. In fact I might be able to offer copies of it to beginners like myself in the near future, but that's another story. My questions are about the eyes. For those who draw on the lines, like I will be, is it best to double stitch the white mesh to the edges of the eye openings with black threading and then draw the eye boarder around it or do you adhere a separate eye boarder to the outside of the mask? Also, in regards to plastic lenses, is it best to just adhere them to the inside of the mask? I'm really at a loss in this area, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the info and the great inspiration here on the board.

Spidey Sense

Hi there...
I have a question about the costume site:
I will also make a vote about it.
Now this site is online for a while... since november. Youīve seen, there are no pop-ups or banners.
You know... nothing is free in the internet. So this site isnīt free for me at all. I never has been free... but it was my motivation to show all the cool costumes to everybody and give you a place, to show your pics.
Now... iīm talking about MONEY!!

NO!! I donīt want any money from you... but i wonīt refuse if somebody would like to give some money.

My question is:
If i would finde some good paying sponsor banners and place them on an extra page on the site, would anybody klick on it or do you say: "NO... when there are banners on the page, i will not come back again"???

Be honest... please...

Martin

I am looking to have an "exact" copy of the movie suit made and since I am no seamstress i am going to have to pay if i want quality. which I do. I am going to be at the megacon in orlando. This is my first and i do need to lose a couple inches around my waist. Or at least turn it solid. Long time lurker, first time poster! I haven't made a costume in a few years but I understand your passion. I had a few pictures in Wizard, I will try to scan some and post them (I've worn the classic, the Black, and the Scarlet suit). Not planning on making the movie suit, not in quite the same shape I'm oldddddd (40) but you guys are an inspiration to work a little harder in the gym. Martin,
I had an idea for your eyes on your suit. Since the shot a page or 2 back you can see your eyes, you may need to add to them. Which is the idea I have. Take some of the silver window tinting and put it on the inside of your eyes. This should allow the whiteness still and not allow your eyes to be seen thru by others. It would reflect like the clip where Spidey sees her falling away from him. check into it and let us know how it goes!

hey you guys check out the new spidey wallpapers in the media section. saaaa-weet! well i know they are animated renderings, but i noticed a few things:
a. there is no webbing on the palms or soles.
b. the costume has a sort of texture to it, like snakeskin.
c. booties are sort of square-tipped.
d. the top piece of webbing on the booties is very pronounced and sticks out a bit, making it appear that the booties are separate from the tights.

like i said, these are drawings, not the real suit, but i wonder if they provide clues to the real costume?

Yeah Studtights, the boots are also attached to the costume. I remember iether reading or hearing it from somewhere at the official site. you are right about the texturing and no webs on the hands yes but the costume is said to be basicly one piece for the most part.

It wasn't bad but i had to rush, I got there late and had to be at work. which was late after all. Not really knowing who is who to be honest, I didnt know who to look for. I did get a shot of me with a stormtrooper though. Now I gotta buy one of those costumes too! *lol* I guess it was good though. next year im gonna have to get the day off. I had to talk myself out of buying so much stuffits not even funny. It's a good thing I left most of my cash at home or I could have easily spent a couple hundred bucks.

MEGACON NEWS!!!

hey guys, megacon was great, lots of booths, lots of costumes, never saw a marvel booth though . yours truley took first place in the costume contest! yeah!! i am happy! i was the only spiderman i saw there though. hope to have pictures soon. i think the back flipps and gymnastic stuff won it for me! my friends were daredevil and electra and they got 3rd place! we had a blast. kevin smith was signing autographs and called my friend, who was daredevil, over to sign my friends' daredevil number one, written by kevin smith himself! it was awsome! hope to have pics of that too. people also took video of me flipping and stuff, maybe we can get that online. the 3 of us also walked international drive in our suits. we went into FAO Swartz toy store and bougth some spidey toys, the people loved it. everyone wanted pictures of superheros buying superhero toys. we also had lunch at a 50 style dinner and danced to 50's music, people took lots of pictures of that too. it is hard to eat with my mask on, hehe! all in all it was a good time. i am still alittle blind from all the flashes of the thousands of cameras though. oh did i mention i also hoped on my motorcycle and crusied the streets in my spidey suit, hehe, lots of honks and cheers!

Hey peterparker0077 congradulations on taking first place at the megacon. I wished i could have been there. Im going to miss the one in philadelphia also.
I just read micks post about his movie suit, it sounds like it is going to be well worth the wait to see the finished results.
Hey Martin, The work looks great, I hope they send your suit back soon.
And on another note, their was some talk about how old some of us ,still not grown up, adults are. Well any day now Im about to become a grandfather,I guess once he's old enough to walk I have to move all all my TOYS out of his reach. Ive already started buying him some of the movie toys, the walkie talkies look pretty nice, I just have to wait until he's old enough . It's going to be nice to have a boy in the family.
