I need everyones opinion.
I have a 40" 1080p 3D Sony TV, and it's in the living room. My roommate hogs, and she watches crap like the Real Housewives and Worlds Dumbest. All I want to do is play Skyrim. Would it be wrong to move it into my room? It's MY tv, I own it. When I told my mom that's what she was watching on the TV, she kinda got a little pissed and said that they didn't buy that TV for me for graduating college just so she can use it.
Am I being selfish here? She doesn't even use the HD capabilities. She watches stuff in SD, and only sticks to the basic cable channels. We have HBO, Starz, and a crap ton of more HD channels.

Watch stuff you both like... grow some balls and put up with it!:woot:

You know, I think people who meet me in person are a bit stunned to find out I'm a very quiet, polite, nice person. I smile and talk pleasantly with all of my customers. I'm a bit puzzled by this reaction. Yes, I have my convictions, but I'm not ordinarily nasty to people. In fact I like to just let people come to the conclusion themselves whether or not they want to interact with me. I don't force people to do anything. I'll just be milling about listening to my eclectic music choices and let them approach me if they want.

I have to admit I'm just a bit disturbed by a dream I had. It wasn't a nightmare but more along the lines of an insightful nature into my subconscious. Well, basically in my dream I'm in a house that has two rooms. In one room are my mom, nephew and younger sisters. In the other is a handsome looking man who's surrounded by people with no distinguishable features on their faces whatsoever, like they've all been blurred. Well, I hit it off very well with the handsome man in the other room and I keep trying to get him to come with me into the other room where my family is but for some odd reason he just doesn't want to follow me. I guess what this might mean is that I feel like I must choose between this man I have feelings for or my family. I just don't know how to deal with this. I guess the only way for me to be sure of anything is to actually talk face to face with the man that was in my dream.

Don't trust the pills, same goes with aspirin

Suddenly I remembered when I was in primary school and teachers were allowed to hit misbehaving students, remembered how some warmed their hands by rubbing them against each other to ready them to endure the stick a bit

We went through a similar thing earlier this year. I got a call from my sister - the family dog had had a stroke and they didn't think he'd make it through the weekend. My dad was out of the country and my mom was going to be ALL ALONE, which was going to be REALLY REALLY BAD because she loved that dog to bits. We always worried how she'd be able to handle it once it was his time to go, so my sister and I dropped everything and came back home right away to be with Mom. It wasn't a question of whether we were gonna do it, because he was not in a good place. When I got home, the dog hadn't eaten in two days and couldn't even stand on his own. He made a terrible moaning sound when he tried to bark, and the right half of his face drooped badly.

He definitely knew it was his time. I think animals just do, and he spent the rest of his time on earth telling us not to worry, wagging his tail as he could. My mom said it was like, he was telling her it was time to let go.

I wasn't nearly as upset as my sister or my mom - to me, the dog knew it was his time and it was our duty as his family to end his pain and to send him off with lots of love. We chose to be in the room, just like in the video, and it was definitely the right thing. He looked so peaceful afterwards, just drifting off to sleep. No more pain, surrounded by his family, with Mom holding him...it was actually kind of beautiful and I only wish that every living thing could pass on in such a way.

The saddest part of the whole weekend I wasn't there for - my sister reported that even though they put down pads on the floor for him to pee on and were telling him it was okay for him to pee in the house, he dragged himself to the door, intent on going outside like he always did. They had to hold him up while he did his business. He insisted on being a good dog until the end. :csad: We could learn a lot from dogs about unconditional love and dignity.

Well, some dogs, at least. :funny: Other dogs have no shame, but we had a good dog. :yay:

My inlaws' dog, its arse exploded. Had a big cancer lump hanging out, swinging. First dog I ever bonded with. Staying over there, went down to the kitchen in the morning to find blood across the floor. Now they've got this black one called Freddy and I never realised how horny puppies can be. He raped my leg the first time I saw him. He keeps doing it, getting his lipstick out. Hate him. :(

With the new Superman suit it almost depends on the artist. Jim Lee, who designed it, does it great. I've seen other artists tackle it and it doesn't come off so flattering. I'm currently in a conversation vortex with a classmate from high school who catches me on Facebook every so often. She always tells me the exact same things - stuff that happened in high school...10 years ago, and where she's traveled with her family since then, exact same stuff every time. Her favorite subject right now is how superior China's educational system is compared to the US system, because she's Chinese. But at the same time, she touts her relatives' educational achievements while ignoring her own. Because she doesn't have any, nor even any real aspirations. I feel bad for her because I highly suspect she has an undiagnosed learning disability. Or maybe her parents already know since they're still taking care of her and she's almost 30, and she doesn't have the mental capability of understanding it herself.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. It's just really sad listening to her go on and on about stuff from high school. It's like the last 10 years have been a total wash for her. No college, no job, no boyfriends, no aspirations for what she wants to do. She says she wants to go into "multimedia", but the most she's ever done toward that was go look at some schools a few years ago. I know more about her distant cousin's awesome prestigious job and degrees and the achievements of her ancestors more than her own dreams.

I guess I'm also ranting because I was trying to give her a few pointers as to get going on the multimedia thing, but she simply responds with walls of text about how her ancestors were generals and how her aunts are doctors in China and are really smart. :o

ETA: Dear God I just told her how I really needed to go to sleep since I have class and need to pack for Thanksgiving and she's still going on about how the Spanish teacher in HS would have been fired if he worked in China....

I'm a N00b, so excuse the slight "learning curve" on topics being discussed (and from my laziness to not scour the FAQ/Help section of the board - usually prefer to side-step the Help sections, lol) but I just noticed that there isn't a Gender option to pick for your profile. So... I was wondering how come? I think it'd make it easier to know atleast, instead of assuming that the board is all males or that it's 70/30 in favor of males, haha. Not that I'm hateful and stuff against those gender-switching types, but it'd be atleast nice to have the option to choose male (or if you're a chick) incase someone mistook you as a lady or vice-versa.

And when I first hopped into this particular thread, I thought it was to do with that whole annual "No-Shaving November" dealio.

At least she's hopeful and seems kinda cheerful, hope she gets the well to seek and achieve her plans
Yeah, and at least her parents are supporting her and it doesn't sound like they're on the verge of throwing her in the street. They're trying to get her into a surefire career like accounting while she says she doesn't want to do accounting. I don't think she's made any headway on that front either. :funny: From our conversations, it seems like she just researches her own genealogy and watches Chinese soap operas on a day-to-day basis.

They might as well let her do multimedia. Frankly she'd be unable to hold down a steady job unless it was super-simple work - her problem-solving skills are that nonexistent. :o Definitely not anything that would require real responsibility and creative problem-solving. (Although if she were an accountant, she wouldn't be able to comprehend how to cook the books so maybe that'd be a good thing! :funny: )She might be able to get "Take this traffic light out of this photograph" though.

Well, yeah if it's a constant parade of idiocy from the same people all the time you're around them it does get rather annoying. That's why I like doing things in public like going to a restaurant or watching a movie as opposed to hosting parties at wherever I make my residence. When it comes to my nest I'm pretty territorial and don't like anything disturbed. It comes from living with sisters if you get my drift, sisters with very sticky fingers and not a lick of respect for you or your possessions. Chances are those self destructive idiots won't be bothered by destroying your things with their antics.

I used to do security at a mall and, thankfully, one year they had me on the night shift. That year the temperature went down to like -1 degree and these nutballs were camping outside of Sears, Macy's, JCPenney for hours on end.

And, yes, some of them had BABIES. BABIES! In that intense cold. So, being the wonderful guy that I am I would drive by the line REALLY slow and roll the wndows down on the truck and let them see the wonderful heat that I had.

Yes, there are a lot of insane people out there that are out to get a "deal". Some will trample and push others to even get there. It's a sad part of this society and these retailers don't do much to improve upon it. All they want to do is make a buck and use the "bad economy" as an excuse to push people to buy things...that, honestly, they really don't need.

Aside from E-Man making a TMNT 2 reference, I've never been Black Friday shopping. For one thing, I have no money. For another, my mom usually uses it for Christmas shopping and doesn't want us there, which I understand. I'd go this year, but again, no money and no point.

You're not missing much on Black Friday, Symbi. One year while flyering the parking lot of Target I went in and got Batman Begins for $5, but I wouldn't wait in line early at the crack of dawn for anything. The deals are great, but nothing that I'd be willing to plan for. I'll try to get Arkham City and Gears 3 tomorrow night or Thursday before noon at Walmart for $28, but I damn sure won't be standing in the cold waiting on that for hours on end.

Same here! It could be a hot/sexy shirtless guy delivering the item(s) to me on a silver platter and I still wouldn't waste time camping out for hours infront of a store for it. I don't buy overly much when at a store, and even with CDs/DVDs I wait until I have the $ or just sometimes wait a week so I don't have to deal with them being outta stock or having possible lines.
