The world just became a far more dangerous place. Following a perilous encounter with a mysterious telepath calling herself Dr. Destiny, the heroes of The Justice League find themselves in the midst of a struggle to maintain their image as protectors of the world, after being manipulated into committing nefarious acts all of violence and greed. Perhaps left with the most reason to win back the trust of the public is Superman, who's status as a hero was put into question after a violent outburst that ravaged an entire third world nation. But just as the Man of Steel valiantly tries to pick up the pieces, one of the League's own has fallen.
After a violent battle with an enemy that has ravaged him for months, the man that calls himself Bane, Gotham City's Dark Knight has been left beaten and broken - perhaps beyond repair. As the Batman struggles to hold onto his fading life, bleeding to death within the city he has sworn to protect, the responsibilty has fallen ontp the shoulders of young Dick Grayson to save the hero before it is too late. All the while, the boy must contend with his own ill-seeded hatred to put aside his rage and embrace his destiny as Gotham's Boy Wonder.
To make matters worse, a sinister and powerful prescence has made itself known to the Society that it hopes to lead into the fight against Earth's heroes. After spending his year travelling across the glob in search of a traitor who cost him victory against a long hated enemy, billionaire Lex Luthor has discovered that his own artificial intelligence program, one of which he entrusted all of his valuable secrets, is infact an extraterrestrial being from another world. It calls itself Brainiac, and appears to share Luthor's goals of world conquest. Evil's prescence doesn't end there, however, as disgraced college professor Edward Thwane has discovered the secret identity of Central City's local hero, The Flash, and secretly plots a devastating revenge.
With it's heroes held against overwhelming odds, and it's villains slowly claiming their victories, one is left to ask - is Earth's last stand imminent in the face of doom?

. Gamemasters & Staff .
Batman (http://forums.superherohype.com/member.php?u=33100) - Founder, Gamemaster (Our Goat Snuggler)
Byrd Man (http://forums.superherohype.com/member.php?u=41079) - Co-Gamemaster (Our Whip Cracker)
Andy C. (http://forums.superherohype.com/member.php?u=37948) - Assistant Gamemaster (Our Little Richard)
. How To Play .
This RPG is based off of a player-created continuity dealing with a modern revision of the DC Universe, similar to Marvel's Ultimate imprint. Outside of the above, and what the players themselves create, there is no pre-established continuity. As players, it will be your job to take the basic ideas and characters of the DCU, and accordingly reinvent them into however you see fit. Though it is your choice of how drastic the alterations should be, you are free to customize everything from a character's origin to motivations, identity, mannerisms, costume, powers, and world. Let your imagination run wild.
To apply for a character, fill out the application supplied below. If your application is rejected, do not despair! Simply rework what the Gamemasters tell you is wrong with it, or in the case of multi-applications, choose another character. All players are welcome, regardless of membership status or postcount.
. 12 Rules To Play By .
1. You may choose any character appearing in the DC Universe, or an imprint of DC Comics (IE: Vertigo, Wildstorm), and revamp them for Ultimate continuity. Any character appearing outside of DC, such as Marvel or Image characters, will not be allowed.
2. You are allowed a maximum of three characters. Though it is advised that you stick to one, especially at first, you will be allowed a second and third if you believe you can handle the responsibility.
3. You must post at least once every two weeks, though it is preferred you post more, or your character will be up-for-grabs. Failure to post after a month will result in removal from the roster.
4. PC's are not to be killed without permission. Nameless NPC's are fine, but PC's or important NPC's will require authorization. Don't do anything random, such as destroying the universe, either. Such behavior is frowned upon.
5. Several storylines can be going on at once, in order to interact with other players. If a player's character does not want to be involved in another's storyline, they do not have to. Consultation and communication are the keys to a good PC-to-PC interaction.
6. Sidekicks and legacy characters will be required to be permitted by the player orchestrating the mentor's role in UDC. For instance, if you want to play Superboy, your acceptance will hinder on the player playing Superman, and his thoughts.
7. You can travel anywhere on Earth or off-planet, provided it is within your character's means. Time-travel is forbidden, unless it is specifically required of your character choice. (IE: Booster Gold, Rip Hunter, The Legion of Super-Heroes)
8. You are your character, so act like them. Create or portray their mannerisms, powers, and ideals to how they have been established in the game. BE the character - do not, under any circumstances, play yourself as the character.
9. Respect the Gamemasters. If they make a request of you regarding the game, listen to them. Failure to adhere to GM, AGM, and Hype! Moderator requests will result in expulsion from the game.
10. Be creative, and do not be afraid to try new and exciting things with old concepts. This is a new continuity - the laws of the regular DC Universe are not set in stone.
11. All regular Hype rules apply.
12. And finally, the most important rule of all: Have fun. Never take the game too seriously, or you will have lost the point. Heated arguments between players can result in probation or infractions - do not ruin it for other players. It is only a game.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Bruce Wayne
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero, though incapacitated from that role
.Powers and physical attributes: None. Without the capacity for superhuman powers, Wayne relies solely on his physical and mental prowess as an ordinary man to stay ahead. To make up for it, he has trained himself in varying forms of combat assembled from different styles, gained experience as a master tactician while serving with the military, charted a limited knowledge in forensics and criminal study, and utilized a billion dollar fortune in the pursuit of a customized arsenal of crimefighting gadgets and technologically advanced vehicles, among other things.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Witnessing the murder of his parents at a young age, young Bruce Wayne was put under the care of his wealthy and influential uncle Phillip Wayne, who pressured Bruce to look past his grief and make something of his life. Rebellious, Bruce did the opposite and began to act out, running afoul of the law on many occassions as a teenager. Fed up with such behavior, Phillip finally sent Bruce off to the military to straighten up his act. Being in a hostile environment like Afghanistan helped to shape Wayne's maturity, further teaching him the value of human life and the ruthless nature of his enemies. Deciding he needed to take his life in a different direction, Wayne got himself discharged while in service and travelled to Africa, looking to gain experience as a social worker. His pursuit was ill-timed after a gangland bombing left many ravaged and led to the capture of Wayne himself by a gang of high-end mercenaries, who tortured him for days and left him to beg for a merciful death. He was saved by the mysterious cult of vigilantes known as The League of Shadows.
Brought in under their leader, Henri Ducard, Bruce was invited to join them and adopt their mission, fighting against the injustices of a vast criminal underworld. Feeling a kindship with Ducard, Bruce agreed to train, and managed to fall in love with Ducard's daughter Talia in the process. With their relationship blossoming as Bruce's skills began to exponentially grow, honing himself to become the perfect warrior, Ducard sent Bruce and Talia out together during one of Bruce's trials in order to apprehend a feared assassin by the name of David Cain. Though the now formidable Wayne managed to fight off the small group of grunts that Cain held under his employ, Talia wasn't as successful in the effort, suffering a fatal wound under the assassin's retaliation. Devastated, Bruce lost himself to his grief once again and savagely beat Cain to near-death.
Leaving the League after a falling out with a grief-stricken Ducard, who went mad under the strain of losing his daughter and reinvented himself as terrorist Ra's Al Ghul, Bruce returned to Gotham City at age twenty-five only to see his uncle Phillip die through failing health. Named Phillip's sole heir, Bruce was shocked to learn that he had become a billionaire overnight. Deciding to use the money to fund a war on crime, along with the help of a newly arrived associate named Alfred Jarvis, Wayne began to build himself a double life - by day, he would be a carefree playboy who would appear to care more about personal gain than the good of others. But by night, he would shed this disguise and adopt a different one, becoming the masked vigilante whose sole mission is to rid Gotham City of it's corruption - he would become The Batman.
Four years into his pursuit of justice, and it may have all come to an end. After spending months of suffering a direct attack on his declining status as a protector of Gotham, Batman's greatest enemy yet took the fight to the man himself after long-since deducing his true identity. Though he valiantly struggled, Batman ultimately lost the fight against the powerful Bane and was thrown off of the several stories' tall Wayne Tower, plummeting to the streets below. His unconscious body now lies somewhere in Gotham, damaged and broken to an extent that is yet to be determined. And if someone doesn't find him soon... he will very likely meet his end.
.The burning question - Why this character?: For this season, the story isn't so much about Bruce himself. It's all about how Gotham City can carry on without Batman to look after them. Crime is on the uprise, the cops are more corrupt than ever, and there's no hero out there trying to keep it all held back? That won't end well. And I don't intend to pull any sort of dues ex machina with Bruce's injuries, believe me - he is not putting the cowl back on for some time. However long it will take, some things will end up changing for the worse, and become damaged before he can ever try and regain what is lost. This is going to be Batman's lowest point yet, and I can't wait to write his struggles with being "broken".
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, when you learn what exactly Bane's attack did to Bruce on a physical level, you'll start to understand that he may never be the same again. The extent of those changes are something I want to keep to myself, but let's just say that I'm writing a completely different take on the Batman mythos this season. Alot of what I'm writing actually can't be Bruce, due to his condition, so a large part of my arc will be seen through the eyes of Alfred, who I'm going to try and make more of a character than his simple Yes Man/Butler-esque Assistant characterization of the last few seasons. I've shown glimpses of what he can really be before, and now I intend to fully realize all of that.
Of course, Batman can't stay under the table forever. Someone's going to have to step up and protect Gotham in Bruce's abscence. Who will it be? You'll have to find out...
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: An unbridled passion for the character and his universe. And possibly some form of sloppy, ill-attempted sexual service.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
Both Superman and Diana offer interesting points, but neither quite contradict my concerns. I suppose I'll have to take solace with what I'm given. This is neither the time or the place to voice the fact that just by witnessing what he can do when given the proper motivation, simply standing next to "The Man of Steel" leaves me on edge. The only one of us that managed to bring him down was, surprisingly, The Flash. And despite my initial reservations, twice tonight he's managed to prove himself worthy of my respect. With time and practice, he could become quite the hero. It's the others that I'm not entirely sure about yet.
Though when Superman brings up the possibility of an alternate form of communication, I can't help but think back to a privatized relay network that was proposed at Waynetech last month. If I could get the prototypes built and establish a satellite connection through Oracle, perhaps I can offer the communicators as thanks for what they've accomplished tonight. Or at the very least, give myself an advantage in surveillance, in the event that I find that I can't trust them as well as it seems.
"I have to get back to Gotham.", I begin abruptly. "But I just wanted to state that, for the record, I'm still not entirely sure about this 'Justice League'. While Destiny may not have succeeded, others will only try with a group like this putting themselves out there."
Trying not to linger on my doubts, I turn my back to the group and begin stepping towards the exit of the warehouse. It should take ten minutes, at most, for The Batmobile in flight mode to travel it's way from Gotham to Metropolis on automatic pilot in order to pick me up. But in the meantime, perhaps I should make myself scarce. There's alot that I have to consider, and I'd prefer to do it alone.
"I guess my point is, keep me informed. You could still convince me otherwise."
Taking out a specialized smoke capsule from the back of my utility belt, I suddenly spin around and throw it to the floor, breaking it off and covering the entire room in a light mist that momentarily obstructs the League's vision. By the time they can see clearly again, I'm already gone. And likely already on my way home.

Supergirl

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray:
Kara Zor-El - Supergirl
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Hero
.Powers and physical attributes:
Kryptonian. Invulnerability, Strength, Heat, X-ray, Telescopic, Microscopic visions, Super Speed, Super Breath, Flight
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Zor-El and Allura, survivors of the lost Kryptonian city, Argo. Their home planet had been destroyed and Argo was coming to an end, the peril around them engulfed the whole city, soon destruction was upon them. Zor-El had remembered the device his now deceased brother used to send off their only child to a new life with safety. Quickly building something similar to the device, him and Alura had to say their farewell to their only child, Kara Zor-El. The baby was sent off to Earth, in hope of finding the baby's cousin, Kal-El. Because Zor-El and Allura had programmed the device to a steady landing, Kara's course was changed slightly and she ended up in the streets of Chicago, with no destruction caused.
Fred Danvers and Sylvia Lee-Danvers had recently encountered trouble conceiving. So when a fair haired baby girl was left on their doorstep one morning, they believed their prayers had been answered. There had been one note left attached to the glowing cloth that was wrapped around the beautiful baby girl. It was in a cryptic type language, that no one could translate. The two took the girl in and adopted her. Naming her Linda Lee Danvers, after Fred's grandmother, Linda started to grow up under the average lifestyle of a girl in Chicago.
Linda was far from average, however. Her Kryptonian heritage gave her great abilities on Earth, as well as a natural aptitude for learning. She eventually cracked the code of the message from her parents, which told her to find her cousin Kal-El. Linda soon realized that this Kal-El was none other than the famous hero Superman, and she took up her Supergirl persona to attract his attention. Now, she lives in Metropolis, attends Metropolis University, and is one step closer to being reunited with her only surviving family.
She also recently was romantically involved with Vic Stone, but presumes him dead after his accident.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
Do I really need to answer this? Really? *points at Screen Name* *points at copy of Action 252 in her possession*
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: She's been on her own her entire career, rather than trained by her cousin. I also have ideas on where I want to take her.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A great take on my favorite character.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more: A couple of weeks have passed, since the accident. The school was shocked. Five stars of the football team killed. The more neanderthal students were just upset at what it meant for the team. Thankfully, Chloe wasn't one. Things with Vic weren't really serious yet, but still hurt dearly. But Chloe's the best friend a girl could ask for, but still I keep my secret. Vic invited me out with him that night. I declined because I didn't want to deal with the throngs of girls pawning over him. If I'd have gone with them, I could have saved them.
As Linda I've thrown myself into my studies. As Supergirl? I've taken my aggressions out on criminals. It's a very relieving form of therapy. But right now I'm just sitting in a classroom listening to Professor Swan go on about economics. Good god this is boring. Doesn't help matters much that my desk is by the window. Some days I just want to skip and take to the skies. Then I remember that it's college and I pay for every minute I'm here.
"Sigh."
"What was that Miss Danvers?"
"Um, just interested in how risk aversion affects the risk heavy industries?"
"Well if you paid attention properly, I wouldn't have to explain it multiple times."
I keep my sigh internal this time... What a windbag.
Once the class is over I head back to my dorm. I plan on changing real quick and heading to the sky. What I don't expect is Chlo. She's supposed to be in class. She's not.
"How was econ?"
"God I hate Swan. He's a pompous, egotistical ass."
"Again?"
I sigh and drop onto my bed, as I start to tell her about my day and listen to hers. I'll just wait until later to patrol, I guess.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Victor "Vic" Stone/Cyborg
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: As Cyborg, Victor has super strength, endurance, agility, and speed. His blood is also infused with nano-bots which will aid his healing. He has gained all of this, along with cybernetic implants bonded to his body, underneath his skin. These allow Cyborg to scan for enemies, interface with computers, and allow him to attach various weapons to his body.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Victor Stone was born to two loving parents and was raised in the suburbs of Metropolis. From an early age, Vic showed signs of incredible athletic talent, as well as an incredible intellect. He took to football when young, and blossomed into a star when he reached high school.
But even as his popularity rose and college scouts began coming to his games, Vic's ego never inflated. People from his community always praised the young man's work ethic and morals. He was a jock who stood up for the little guy in the school, and was the first to make people laugh.
During his senior season, Stone committed to playing for his hometown team, Metropolis University. Once there, he met Linda Danvers, and the two developed a friendship, though both seemingly wanted more out of the relationship.
One night during the team's bye week, they go out to a party, which ends with four of Vic's teammates dying as a result of sabotage by a group of shadowy agents. Vic is badly injured, but is brought back by the same people who caused the accidents. The resulting cybernetic implants have left Stone with super powers, and a drive for revenge on the people that did this to him. His search has led him to the Authority, the group he was designed to kill, who now have him captured due to his assassination programming kicking in.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Cyborg is a staple of the DC Universe, even if he isn't one of the company's headliners. He was introduced by EBJ as a supporting character for Supergirl, and I figure it's about time that he's introduced as the hero he's destined to be. I've got a pretty good idea on what direction I'd like to take him.
Also, since he's already had contact and is friends with Supergirl, I wouldn't mind sowing the seeds for The Titans, or possibly join the League, depending on the way the game goes.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: First of all, Cyborg's implants/additions won't be visible, and to the normal world he'll look like a normal person. Secondly, Vic will have no idea where his powers/implants come from, and the mystery of his origin will continue on for the foreseeable future.
He will become a dead man reincarnated, and will tend to stay away from human contact, preferring a life of isolation due to him viewing himself as a "freak".
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A classic DC hero to fold into our Ultimate Universe. And now that I have a new and functioning computer I will be a dedicated player.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
"You ready?" Mike McDaniels asks as the team crams into the tunnel that leads to the field. Mike is a senior, and a second-team All American from last year. "Because we're gonna need you tonight. Gotham has one hell of a defense."
I nod to him, even though I'm not exactly sure I believe it. Sure, I've played in front of some big crowds before, and I know I'm one hell of a player. But this is big time college football. It actually matters now. And the team is looking at me to carry the load this year.
Before I know it, my teammates in front of me explode out of the tunnel, and I break into a sprint to follow. I emerge into the cheers and screams of our hometown crowd, and the adrenaline immediately kick in.
Oh yea. I'm ready for this.
.Preferred roster pic? (No preference, and one will be chosen for you): I'll get one up after work. Can't get into photo sharing sites here.
THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Boy Blue
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: Blue is a Fable, being from the Fables' universe, known as Homelands, and is virtually immortal. As long as his nursery rhyme "Little Boy Blue" is known and popular for the humans, he will live forever.
Other than that, Blue has no true powers of his own. However, he was entrusted with the Witching Cloak during the closing days of the war in the Homelands. The Cloak allows him to teleport, is virtually impenetrable(the only exceptions being extremely powerful magical weapons), and can render Blue invisible when covered completely by the cloak. He also possesses the Vorpal Blade, which can cut through any known enchantments.
Boy Blue is also a highly trained warrior from his days in the Homelands War. He keeps himself in fighting shape, and practices his swordsmanship and archery everyday.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Boy Blue was a happy lad during the days before the war, and was Old King Cole's favorite trumpet player, and was housed in his castle. While there, he learned archery and swordsmanship from Robin Hood and his Merry Men. After The Adversary, the evil force that rose to take over the Homelands, declared war on all the Fables' homes, Boy Blue immediately enlisted into the army that opposed him.
There, he served with Robin and his Men in Colonel Bearskin's company. It was here that Blue became one of the war's greatest heroes, being one of the few that volunteered to stay behind and cover the retreat of the Fables into Earth's universe, ensuring that as many Fables could escape as possible.
The night before the fateful battle, a final Fable arrived at the fort which the last portal was located. She was Red Riding Hood, and she would change Blue's life forever. She was wounded, and he tended her wounds in preparation for the journey the next day. Unfortunately, love at first sight set in, yet each knew what their fates were the next day.
In the morning, Bearskin gave Blue the Witching Cloak, with orders to teleport to the ship heading through the portal as the battle drew to a close. The Colonel wanted Blue to be happy and to be with Red. And Blue did as he was told. He fought bravely, but one by one his oldest friends died at the hands of The Adversary's minions. And as Colonel Bearskin fell, signifying Blue was the only one left, he teleported to the ark of the Fables.
But tragedy would strike Blue yet again. It was on the ship that he found that Red, who had no idea of Bearskin's plan, refused to live without Blue, and stayed behind.
Once the last of the refugee Fables reached their new home in new York City, known as Fabletown, Blue became part of the Fabletown police department in an attempt to stem his survivor's grief and atone for his failures.
So far this season, Boy Blue has come into mastery of the Witching Cloak, and uncovered the invasion of The Adversary's troops into Fabletown. Last we saw him, Blue was tortured by Baba Yaga and some wooden soldiers, only to be saved by Cinderella. Blue and Bigby join the fray, and kill the dragon who was leading the attack.
Afterwards, Blue decides to make a mission back into the Homelands and bring the fight to The Adversary.
.The burning question - Why this character?: I've become enamored with the Fables Universe, and I'd love to write my own story about one of the characters, and have them possibly be involved with the rest of the DC Universe.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Blue will put on a public face of happiness and normalcy, but by himself or with his closest friends he will be revealed to be a man saddled with extreme survivors guilt. Sullen and morose, he searches for any way to redeem himself in his own eyes, and will drive him to new ways to accomplish that goal.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: The Fables Universe, which is a great story begging to be told. I've got a story thread I never finished from last season, and a few more stories I'd like to tell.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
As I'm carried through the street outside the Woodland High rise that houses Fabletown, the eruption of gunfire rains around me, and the battle screams of the Fables tear through the night air. The Witches must have cover the city in a thick layer of fog, since I can barely see in front of my face.
After a few paces, Cinderella bursts through the door to the Doc's place, where I can hear the pained moans of other wounded Fables. Cindy plops me down on a table, "Doc, we need to get Blue back in the fight."
Before the doctor can get to me, I place my hand in the Witching Cloak and retrieve the Vorpal Sowrd. "Just get this in my hand and make sure it won't fall out. I'll do the rest."
This is my chance to redeem myself. This is my chance to make things right. And no matter what, I'm going to succeed.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Bart Allen/The Flash
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: Bart has super-speed, with an ability to run close to the speed of light.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Born in 1988, Bart Allen is the oldest son to Barry and Iris Allen. His younger brother Wally was born in 1995.
Barry Allen was a famous detective with the Central City Police, solving the famous Murmur Murders alongside his partner, Jay Garrick.
Finding himself always a bit of a social outcast, Bart always had a love comic book superheroes and science. During his senior year in high school, Bart was working late at the high school science lab when an accident happened. The accident granted Bart mysterious super-powers.
Remembering the comic heroes of his youth, Bart took up a costume and became one of them. The Flash.
Three years later, Bart attends Keystone University, majoring in criminal justice during the day as well as being the fastest man alive.
During the course of the RPGs first season, Flash encountred heroes and foes, from Superman and Wonder Woman to The Trickster and the alien menance known as Star'ro.
In the second season, Bart faced off with a group of superpowered criminals called the Rogues, discovered that his father's partner, Jay Garrick, was the former superhero speedster called Mercury, and he locked horns with his college professor, Ed Thawne, before he graduated from Keystone University.
Oh, and he kicked the **** outta Superman. :awesome:
.The burning question - Why this character?: I'm a Flash fan and Bart fan, peanut butter and jelly? PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME! PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: The mainstream version of Bart is a part of a large legacy from his grandfather and cousin, this version of Bart is making his own legacy. Personality wise, Ult. Bart might be a bit closer to Spider-Man. Plus, I've adapted his Rogues and changed them to give them a differnt flair.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Decent RPer, The Flash!
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
Kicking into high gear, I run down the street Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Batman all stand still like living statues. Only one person is fast enough to see me: Superman. His unwavering eye turns away from Wonder Woman and stares me down.
"I'm not even gonna try to talk some sense into you." I say, talking so fast and so high that he's the only one possible of hearing it.
Picking up speed, I run out of the city and out of Pokolistan. Pushing myself faster and faster, I tear through Russia and across the Pacific in just a fraction of a second. America is nothing but a blur as I race through it and continue across the Atlantic. Faster as faster, I rip through Europe and through Pokolistan again. This time, even Superman can't keep up with me as I blow past him.
No.
I need to be faster. Keep going, you have to keep getting faster.
The whole world around me starts to become one big gray mass. I'm getting closer to speed light, and my body can feel it. My hamstrings are tightening up, the arches of my feet ache more and more with each step. I'm going faster than I've ever gone, faster than anything has ever gone. My chest tightens up and I feel a jolt of electricity running down my spine. I don't know what's happening, but I got to keep going. Before I know it, I've passed through Pokolistan about five times now. It's the sixth time that I make my move.
Nothing is moving at all as I run down the wartorn street towards Superman. Nothing, that is, but me. My mind thinks back to something I learned in physics class.
Remember that paradox, the unstoppable force meeting an immovable object?
It used to be a paradox, until modern day physics looked into it. The truth is, no force is completely unstoppable. No object is completely immovable. That was one of my papers...Professor Thawne gave it a C, saying that there was no real world application to my thesis.
Well, I wish Professor Thawne could be here to see this.
With each and every step I take, my body hurts that much more. The G-forces and speed is taking its toll. I'm only a few feet from Superman when I cock my arm back and swing.
My fist, with all the inertia and force that I can muster, connects with Superman's jaw.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A shockwave ripples out from the punch, the sounds of explosion deafen my, a bright white light blinds me, and I'm suddenly weightless and falling from parts unknown to parts unknown.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Inspector Edward Nygma
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking The Line
.Powers and physical attributes: No powers, but Nygma has a brilliant intellect and is an expert detective with training in firearms. In addition to his police skills, Nygma is a master people-reader and manipulator.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Born in Glasgow, Kentucky on October 17th 1972 to parents Joesph and Mary Nygma, Edward Frank Nygma grew up in an abusive home with his ultra passive mother and mentally ill father.
Nygma was constantly breated by his father while his mother stood by, too afraid to defend her son. His father mentally and phsyically abuse also extended to his mother, who never told anyone about her husband's behavior and always let him get away with it. His mother took her own life on December 23rd, 1982 when Nygma was ten years old. Leaving Edward alone to be victimized by his father, who abused Edward to mask the jealousy of his son's superior intellect.
Nygma was constantly picked on in school, his reserved nature and social awkwardness made him easy prey.
Graduating from high school, Nygma enrolled at a nearby community college. As soon as Nygma turned 18, he promptly had his father committed to the same insane asylum Sue had been in. Nygma never visited his father and let him waste away in the mental hospital, justice in Nygma's mind for all the years of abuse. Joseph Nygma died in 1996, a shell of the man he had once been.
After a life of being picked on and being the butt of jokes, Nygma opted for respect the quickest way he could think of. He became a Sheriff's Deputy for Barren County, Kentucky, and helped police his home county.
While in the service of the sheriff, Nygma quickly learned he had an eye for human weakness and for reading people. He soon became a detective and excelled capturing criminals and interrogating them.
In 1998, Nygma was investigating a kidnapping/murder of a little girl. The little girl's features reminded him of his mother. He dove head-first into the murder, becoming consumed by it. He devoted every waking moment to the case. His co-workers saw a change in him and he was put up in psychic evaluation. Nygma was diagnosed with manic-depressive disorder and spent some time in the same mental hospital his father had died in.
He was discharged from the sheriff's department and Nygma spent the next two years doing odd-jobs around Glasgow. It was in late 2000 Nygma read about job openings in the Gotham City Police Department. Captivated with the idea of solving big city murders, Nygma packed his bags and left Kentucky for Gotham. Applying for a job, he left out the part about his mental disorder. He was accepted and began working as a patrolman. After a few years of walking a beat, Nygma became a detective working robbery. He quickly graduated to homicide and was promoted to Sergeant.
Working in Homicide, Nygma had his first, but not last, brush with a serial killer. Nygma worked the case of the Hangman, a serial killer who lynched his victims all throughout the summer of 2004. Nygma led SWAT through the door of suspect John Lees, who had a gun in his hands and pointed at the cops. With no choice, Nygma shot and killed Lees. Evidence to Lees guilt was found and he was posthumously branded as the Hangman.
For his efforts, Nygma was awarded a promotion to Lieutenant and became second-in-command with the Major Crimes Unit. In 2007, Commissioner James Gordon gave Nygma a risky assignment. He was to go undercover as a corrupt cop and provide intel and services for the Maroni Crime Family. Family don Salvatore "The Boss" Maroni welcomed Nygma with open-arms and soon began to trust the cop and confide in him.
After a questionable action from Gordon, Nygma began investigating him and soon discovered the skeletons in Gordon's closet. Teaming up with the vigilante Batman, undercover officer Selina Kyle, and detective Vic Sage, Nygma began a massive investigation into a criminal conspiracy that included the mob, high-ups in the GCPD, and a serial killer known as Holiday.
During the Holiday investigation, Nygma and Kyle had their cover with Maroni blown. The mob boss put a hit out on them and the two had to go underground to survive.
After a nine month investigation, Nygma and Sage arrested Holiday with Batman's help. Holiday turned out to be Police Lieutenant Michael Akins. Akins' plot revolved around avenging the murder of his son, who died at the hands of a hitman hired by the mob and Gordon.
Finding out Holiday's true motives, Nygma made a truce with Gordon and destoryed all evidence to Gordon's involvement with Holiday's creation. Nygma then manipulated Sage, blackmailing with information that he was moonlighting as a masked vigilante. Sage quit the police force in disgust and Nygma was promoted to Inspector, given the charge of being in command of all detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division.
In the aftermath of the Holiday investigation, Internal Affairs Lieutenant Mackenzie Bock investigated Nygma's practices with the help of District Attorney Harvey Dent. Afraid of what the investigation would uncover, Nygma asked for Gordon's help in getting Bock off the case. After Gordon and his thugs beat Bock, DA Harvey Dent swore to work harder on the case and put Nygma and Gordon behind bars.
His back against the wall and feeling pressue from Dent and Maroni, Nygma took care of them in one night. Leading a raiding party to the Gotham Ritz during his niece's wedding, Nygma caused panic and chaos and allowed Maroni to slip away to his office, where Nygma met him and killed the mob boss by pushing him out a window. After that, he drove to Dent's house and firebombed it with molotov cocktails, attempting to kill the rightous DA.
Sickened by his actions, Nygma is left with the thought that he's become two of the men he hates the most: Jim Gordon and his father.
In season two, Nygma reformed from his ways...sort of.
He and Detective Marcus Driver investigated the gruesome murder of Gotham socialite Bette Kane. Driver was killed in the process, but Nygma got absolute justice for his partner and Bette.
Nygma then began investigating the crime kingpin known as Bane. When Nygma ran afoul of Bane, he worked out a deal to save his life in exchange for setting up Batman. Nygma lived up to his end of the bargain, throwing everything he and the GPCD had at Batman in order to soften the vigilante up.
Now, Nygma begins to worry as news breaks out that the FBI and US Attorney are launching a probe into the GCPD. On top of that, Jim Gordon has now come out of his coma.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
Nygma is probably my favorite character I've ever had a chance to play in any RPG bar none. I've never had as much fun with a character as I had with him.
I said after the first season I had a three act story in mind. I kind of skimped on act two, but I will more than make up for it in act three.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
He won't be thrusting his groin while dancing around in skin tight green spandex and creating goofy riddles for Batman to figure out. I don't have any desire to turn him into a would-be supervillain like he is in the comics. Instead, I'm taking the character and taking him down a different path. He's still a man consumed by mysteries, riddles, and his desire to be perfect....he just goes about that in a real different way.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Big fan of the Batman mythos and a decent writer with a few years experience in these RPGs.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
The door to the Kane mansion opens up. I hear heels clacking against the hardwood floor. Kate rounds the corner into the massive living room and stops suddenly. She sees me sitting on the couch, a gun in my lap.
"Eddie....what are you?"
"Have a seat, please."
"I don't....what?"
"I SAID HAVE A SEAT!"
Kate jumps back, partly in fright, partly in shock. She walks over to a recliner and sits down on the edge of the chair.
"It was your father, wasn't it? He killed your sister."
I stand up as Kate stutters and struggles to get her words out. Gripping the gun, I pace across the living room.
"I suppose I couldn't call him your father, can I? No, your father was murdered about six hours ago. Harold was what to you? The man who raised you? The man who abused you?"
"It's not like that," she rasps out. "He loved us."
"Some of that tough love, huh? Slapping you girls around whenever he felt like it. But he did worse didn't he? Tell me, Kate, was he your first?"
Kate swallows hard and closes her eyes. I plunge on into my monologue.
"Your family is ****ed up worst than a tenth generation hillbilly clan. You see, your mother spilled the beans on ya'll. Your family and the Daniels, it's like a Greek tragedy. I bet it pissed Harold off when he found out Bette was ****ing Jerry Daniels. A man that may or may not be her own brother. He beat her, threatened to cut her off from the family fortune, and even said he'd kill her. You, of course, stood by as the faithful child. You were like a dog that gets beaten daily, but still loves his master. You even followed Bette as she went on those romantic outings with Jerry. You went so far as to rent an adjoining room beside their motel room so you could listen in. You recorded it and let daddy listen in. It pissed him off something fierce. When Bette came home that night, he took it out on her again. This time, he went too far. He beat your sister to death. You went the extra mile, though."
I bend down and start poking Kate in the arm, touching each spot Bette was burned and cut at. "You cut her body with a knife, tortured her with cigarette burns and finally your father cut her in half. The brutality designed to throw the cops off on the exact motives of the murder. You probably cut her in half and drained the blood in some vacant house your father owns. Really doesn't matter now. We're way past the point of getting evidence."
I stand up again and back away from Kate. "Bette's body is found and I pick up the case. You start fooling with me, not to keep the family's dirty little secrets out the paper, but to keep an eye on the investigation. There was one thing you and even I overlooked. Apparently, Marcus Driver was a better cop than I could ever imagine. He followed you, got shots of you and I doing it, and photos of you and Jerry arguing. See, Jerry knew something was up so he confronted you. Driver looked into your backgrounds and knew something was up. He confronted you and your father with the information he had. He wasn't looking to solve the case, he was looking for some blackmail money. A few days ago he came to the house and things got heated between him and your father. Driver kicked the **** out of him when he refused to pay. Driver was preparing to tell me all about it when you killed him. You called him, tracked him down, probably managed to drug him before you slit his throat. You began tying up lose ends, Kate."
I point the gun at Kate and mock shooting it. "Pow. Down goes Driver. Pow. Down goes Jerry. Pow. Down goes Mark Daniels. Quite a deadly little game you were playing, missy."
"You can't prove it," she hisses. "You can't prove ****!"
"Look me in the eye and tell me it's a lie....," I say with a smirk. Kate looks away sharply and my smirk blooms into a smile. "That's what I thought. As I said, I don't have any real evidence. Nothing substantial that can tie you to the murder of your sister, Driver, or the Daniels. But it's not about that. On the Holiday case, I had to settle for lesser justice. I had to compromise to save myself. This case is looking a lot like that's gonna happen here."
I motion Kate towards the kitchen. She stands up and slowly walks through the living room into the kitchen. On the floor, the body of Harold Kane is sprawled out and bleeding, a bullet hole in his head. "He confessed to me an hour ago. Helped fill in all the blanks," I say calmly as I screw a suppressor on the gun barrel. "Like I said, I settled for lesser justice before. This time I'm gunning for absolute justice."
A scream begins to come out of Kate's mouth. I silence it with the pull of the trigger. Four shots to the head. Two for the Daniels, one for Driver, and one for Bette. She crumples to the floor next to Harold Kane, blood pouring out her body and mixing with the man who raised her.
And like that, Bette Kane's murder is solved. Three family members dead, one attempted suicide and driven crazy by a life full of abuse and guilt. Harold and Katherine Kane's murders will be just as tragic as the murder of Bette, but they deserved every bit of what they got and then some. Bette's only crime was loving a man. It seems that even the most prominent families aren't immune to being drug down into the gutters of Gotham.
All three murders will go down in the books as an unsolved and tragic chapter in Gotham's first family. It might become famous, or more than likely, infamous. One of those stories that entertain and enthrall the public.
Only I know the truth, and I intend to keep it that way. But then again, all secrets seem to come back to haunt us.
That's the nature of things. We always reap what we sew. Nothing stays buried forever, and our crimes will always come to light.
I think it's that last part that scares me the most.

Third character or bust for me!
THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: US Army Lt. Colonel Rick Flag III
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: WTL
.Powers and physical attributes: Rick Flag has no superpowers, but is a highly trained special forces soldier and is an expert marksman, and a excellent leader.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Rick Flag III comes from a military dynasty, and it's been proven that a Flag has served in every major American conflict. His grandfather was a war hero for the allies during the Second World War, while his father served with distinction in Vietnam. Flag enrolled at West Point as soon as he was finished with high school and graduated in 1990, given the rank of a first lieutenant.
Flag's aptitude for marksmanship granted him a chance to become an Army Ranger. Flag passed Ranger school with flying colors and became a Ranger sniper. Flag was stationed in Somalia during the Black Hawk Down incident, receiving only minor wounds in the combat that ensued.
In 1998, Flag was promoted from Captain to Major. His service record with the Rangers led to him being recruited to join a group known only as the "Combat Applications Group" better known as Delta Force.
After 9/11, Flag and his unit of Delta Force operators carried out missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and all over the world. It was during a black op in December of 2010 that it all changed for Flag. Inside the Syrian border, Flag and his squad's helicopter was shot down. Flag was one of three men who survived the crash. Badly wounded by the crash, Flag and the two soldiers managed to fight their way out of Syria and into Israel. Flag nearly died of his wounds, while the two soldiers with him were mortally wounded by gunfire. While Flag recovered, the two men died of their wounds.
Flag was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and give a covert operations medal for his valorous efforts, although the medal was never to be worn in public.
After ten years in Delta Force, he was reassigned to be field leader to a covert group of imprisoned metahumans known as Task Force X-Ray, also known as the Suicide Squad. Flag led the Squad through missions in Mexico, Egypt, the Phillipines, and Haiti. On a mission in Nigeria, Flag was wounded and left behind. He now resides in a prison as an enemy to Nigeria's Islamic rebels, regularly tortured and beaten for information.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Well, I've been enjoying the heck out of my Suicide Squad, and I'm not the only one, and I still have a bunch of stories I want to tell.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Flag is the third, not Jr. and I like to think I flesh his past out a bit.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Decent RPer with a long time experience in these games.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
I look out the window of the military transport plane as the Atlantic Ocean whizzes by below.
"You doing alright?" Turner asks as he sits down beside me.
He has his right arm in a sling and medical wrap wrapped around his sternum. A fractured arm and two broken ribs. The doctors at the military base in Israel patched him up the best they good. The also did the same for me, which is why the knife wounds on my arm and shoulder are all sewn up and bandaged.
"Yeah, just running the scene in the square over in my mind."
"What was going on with you and that burnt dude?"
"I haven't told Faraday yet, I'll wait until the official debrief, but apparently he's a former member of my old Delta Force unit."
"Well, I'll be damned. It is a small world after all. What happened to him?"
"Me and my team were sent to Syria to collect intel on an illegal nuclear power plant the Syrians had. It was believed they were producing nuclear weapons. The mission was FUBAR from the beginning. Mechanical problems caused our helicopter to crash land ten kilometers from the site. Killed three of my men on impact...."
I spend the next half hour telling the story. I tell it all, things like putting my gun to Blaine's head and the other warts included.
"He was screaming, being burned alive by those chemicals....so I shot him in the head. Thought I was putting him out of his misery. My one remaining soldier and I bugged out and headed for the Israel border. We were a mile away when a chopper came in and tagged Stephens. It got him in the gut and chest and tore into my leg. I limped across the border into Israel with Stephens on my back. He died before we could get him to the hospital."
"Damn...reminds me of what happened to me in Afghanistan. I'm the only man that walked away that day. ****s with your head, doesn't it?"
"Yeah....but it's different when you're the CO. Its one thing to be an enlisted man following orders from a man who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground....but to be the man who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground is different. I was responsible for those men and I failed them all. I have no idea how Blaine ended up with Jihad, but it's my fault he did. I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't have to deal with that once I found out I was getting reassigned from Delta."
"And here you are, leader of a group called the Suicide Squad where death is how we make a living. Ain't that a *****?"
"Yeah, life's real funny sometimes."
Turner and I sit in silence for several minutes before I speak up.
"You know, my great-grandfather was in the First World War. He was a company sergeant. I always heard this story growing up. His company was one of the first ones to go into battle during the Argonne Offensive. They were all used to trench fighting, and the first chance of real combat and going out of the trenches scared them to death. Even the officers were scared. That was when my great grandad called the company together and, as an NCO, gave them a speech. He told them that death is always inevitable. If they had to die, better that they die with honor and glory than to die a meaningless death back home. Those who died on that battlefield would be immortal, because the songs, stories, and tales written about them would carry on. That's all each and everyone of them could ever hope to do: carry on."
"You great grandpa make it out the war?"
"Yeah, but he lost an eye from a German bayonet just a few hours after he gave that speech to his troops. He won a few medals and came home after the armistice, but they said he was never the same. They said he was depressed and moody until he died in the mid 30's. I think that he wanted to die in France with his men. After that speech, he wanted to live forever on the battlefield. He wanted all of us to carry on. I guess he was on to something. Like he said, death comes calling for all of us and there's only one thing any of us can do."
"Carry on."
I look at Turner and nod.
"Carry on."

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Orin of Atlantis - Aquaman
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: Born an Atlantean, a race of advanced aquatics, Orin possesses a natural undersea adaptation aswell as superhuman strength, speed, senses, durability, and stamina, advanced healing, and a resistance to extreme cold. But perhaps his most unique ability is an unnatural bond with all undersea life, a gift bestowed upon him by the titan Tethys. Unlike the rest of his kind, Orin is the only one to possess blonde hair - a heredity trait that was inherited from his accursed father, Kordax.
.Origin and backstory (as interpreted): After angering the god Poseidon, Atlantean scientist Kordax became the scourge of his people. He was soon cursed by the vengeful wrath of Poseidonis' people and made to be a blight upon Atlantis itself, prompting his death and widowing his love, Cora. Learning that she was pregnant with Kordax's only heir, she fled Poseidonis and took refuge with the titan Tethys for the sake of her baby's safety. And when all hope seemed lost, Tethys finally made a fateful bargain - for the cost of her life, she would ensure that the seas themselves would protect her child. She agreed, and died giving birth to her and Kordax's son, Orin. True to her word, Tethys granted Orin the gift of kinship with all undersea creatures, enabling him to grow up as a child of the seas themselves.
When he became a man, Orin travelled back to Poseidonis and laid the Curse of Kordax to rest by slaying the fabled Kraken, saving the city and becoming beloved by it's people. But despite his newfound fame and reward, Orin was unsatisfied with his predicament. He wished for more, to understand the plight of his mother and father. It wasn't long afterwards that he discovered that despite Tethys' gifts, there was also a curse - his mother was still alive, but had become a vengeful beast of the seas, looking to destroy Poseidonis for their treachery against her family. Orin was forced to confront, and eventually kill the one that birthed him. As a reward for defending his throne, Poseidon offered Orin the chance to become King. But he declined, choosing to go his own path. Orin now vows to protect the seas themselves as the lone hero known to all of Atlantis as Aquaman.
But trouble awaits the newly minted protector of the seas, as the aftermath of a climatic battle with Poseidon himself has left the Sea God perished - with Orin responsible for his demise. Left with both the blame for Poseidon's death and a newfound enemy in the twisted creation that is Ocean Master, his blood counterpart, Aquaman must prepare himself for the dark days that are ahead.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Simply put, I've barely scratched the surface with the character. I went into the mythos last season with a fresh perspective and became enthralled, but I never quite began the story I set out to tell when I originally applied. And suitably so, I feel, because the story requires a slow burn approach. Since Aquaman was put into a unique position that can give me a few more stories with him before my run eventually ends, I decided it'd be neat to continue.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, his origin's already different. So from there I plan to build up a further distinction through his supporting cast, like Mera, Garth, and Black Manta, who I want to give a brand new origin. I also want to establish Orin's relationship with the surface world, given that he's never journeyed there by the time that this story begins. How do his powers work, his physiology, ect? What does he think of human culture? Stuff like that can be quite interesting to build on.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: My plan is to play Orin as a fish-out-of-water when he reaches the surface, so I can bring that authenticity through my ignorance of alot of Aquaman's history. I also bake a mean brownie.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
The dream presents itself once again.
That terrible nightmare, the one that has haunted his mind for months now. Where he's struggling to breathe and can't, despite the fact that a perfectly clear depth surrounds him. He reaches out to gasp for help, to call out to the ones that he knows will answer his cries, but none of them come. It is as if for the first time, he is ignored. And he cannot cope. He looks and spins around, searching for the slightest trace of hope, and only finds the light above. It is then, when his fears have taken hold, that he realizes he's so desperate that he will try anything. So gently, he drifts up to the surface. A place - an entire world - of which he has never been given reason to journey.
He swims closer and closer towards the break of water as the tide becomes eerily calm. He doesn't feel safe by what he sees, but he's running out of time. He knows that if he doesn't brave the surface and quell his fears, he will no sooner die. So he keeps swimming. Keeps putting those thoughts to rest as soon as they blossom.
His hand reaches out first, and it goes through. But he can't feel anything. His mouth opens and he tries to speak in anguish, but it only worsens the affect of his breathlessness. Struggling, he quakes under the ocean's pressure and begins to sink. It is only with a short burst of his remaining strength that he's able to fight back, and push himself upwards, edging closer and closer to the break that so few have thought to engage. And at the final moment of his peril, his face collides with the water, giving way to the light itself, where he can see that...
The dream is over. Orin awakens in an alert manner, discovering himself in the dwellings he's been given. The room that overlooks the capital city of Poseidonis. He is in a bed he can barely call his own, nestled between two women - both brunette, per his indication. They awake aswell, startled by his movements, but he pays them little attention. Tossing away his coverings, he floats to the other side of the room and gently lands on the balcony, staring out into the sea.
The whales, he muses, hearing the creatures hover from above. They sing to us. It must be close to day.
"Orin? Why have you woke?"
"Do you wish for us to join you, Orin?"
His eyes close. The sounds of their voices are almost irritating.
"Orin?"
Instantaneously, he turns, his gaze more cold than intends.
"Go back to bed. I will return to you all soon."
Retrieving his things, he launches out for a morning swim, hoping it'll clear his head.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Dick Grayson/ Robin
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: Dick is a gifted martial artist and amateur gymnast, combined with a natural knack with technology, able to make home-made weapons and equipment out of household gadgets.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Dick Grayson was the son of Richard and Mary, a hero cop and his wife in a city rife with corruption. His mother's death from cancer hardened his heart, as he became anti-social and short-tempered. Losing his mother affected him more deeply than he ever realized....
...and when he lost his father, murdered in the line of duty apparently by the Batman, it drove Dick over the edge. He dedicated his life to finding and killing the masked vigilante, training and equipping himself for what he believed to be a suicide mission that would at best see them both dead.
Dick took to the streets as 'Redbird,' determined to find the Batman, but also taking on thugs from Gotham's crime syndicates along the way, allying briefly with the alien heroine Starfire, and taking under his proverbial wing an impressionable ten-year-old boy named Tim Drake. These, however, were still merely distractions from his main goal of finding and killing Batman.
Redbird finally laid a trap for Batman, wounding the hero with a land mine and nearly beating him to death in the ensuing fight. Before he could end it, however, Dick discovered that he was wrong: his father had been killed by mob-boss Tony Zucco, and the Batman was actually Bruce Wayne, his adopted guardian.
Before he could make up for his mistakes, Wayne Tower was attacked by the ciminal mastermind Bane, and Bruce Wayne had vanished. Dick vowed that he would find him, to either save the Bat, or avenge him. Along with his new mission, Dick assumed a new identity, discarding the moniker of Redbird as he equated it with his mistakes, and thinking of the nickname given to him by his friend Rachel "Raven" Roth: Robin.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
As much as it always irks me to see DC games totally lopsided with an excess of Gotham characters, I have to admit it's a cool setting with a lot of cool characters. And out of everyone in Gotham, Dick is far and away my favorite.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
Well, for starters, he spent the last year as an obsessively driven attempted murderer. Now, however, as he realizes how wrong he was, he's going to do everything in his power to atone for that, trying to become a legitimate hero under Batman's guidance. Also, he's going to start networking with other heroes his age, possibly forming a teen team of titanic proportions.....
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
I can bring strong characterizations, complex plots, and impeccable spelling and grammar (it's "a lot," dammit, not "alot").
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
Dick Grayson prowled the halls of Bruce Wayne's penthouse, having been awoken by the sounds of a struggle, muffled though it was from Miss Cooper's apartment. The signs of a fight were everywhere: toppled furniture, shattered glass.....spatters of blood.
What worried him more was that there was no sign of Mr. Wayne. Someone had attacked Bruce Wayne, attacked Batman, and now......
"It can't be," Dick said to himself. "He's not.......oh my God....Alfred?!"
Dick ran to the old man who lay on the floor, severely beaten. He slapped Mr. Wayne's butler lightly across the face to try and rouse him, and was met with a pained groan.
"Master Wayne?" Alfred sputtered. "No....Master D-...Dick.....run."
"Alfred, what happened? Where's Mister Wayne?!"
"Call the police...." the butler wheezed painfully.
Dick's eyes darted back and forth for a phone, but stopped on something he hadn't seen before: an elevator, its still-open door completely flush with the wall. A secret passageway, then, probably to where Batman kept all of his weapons and equipment.
Seeing that, all of the panic and fear that gripped Dick was replaced by steely determination.
"Whoever it was, if Batman couldn't handle him, the cops don't stand a chance," Dick said, heading towards the elevator. "I'm going to call an ambulance for you.....and then I'm going to find Mister Wayne."
The elevator door slid shut behind Dick, and as it plunged downward through Wayne Tower towards the Cave, Dick Grayson clenched his fists.
For over a year, he hunted Batman, trying to kill him. For over a year, he resented Bruce Wayne, bucking against his authority. Now that man was missing and possibly dead, and Dick vowed to find him at any cost.
He thought of the nickname his classmate Rachel 'Raven' Roth had given him as the door slid open to Batman's headquarters.
Redbird had done everything in his power to kill Batman.
Now, it would be Robin who does everything in his power to save him.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Catwoman (Selina Kyle)
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking The Line
.Powers and physical attributes: No superhuman powers. Selina's been trained as a gymnast, giving her increased agility and athleticism, and has limited experience in self-defense as a former officer of the law. Wearing a modified version of one of Batman's costumes, she is protected by the same type of armor and boasts a few of the same weapons, such as night-vision goggles, bolas, tasers, and grapples. Her main weapon is all her own, a heavily modified diamond tethered bullwhip that acts as both a weapon and a tool for climbing. In terms of intelligence, she's a skilled thief and boasts some knowledge of Gotham's meaner streets.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): After losing both parents, the first to alchohol and the second to a life of prostitution and heroin abuse, young Selina Kyle was left to the care of a loving elderly woman who had an affinity for cats. Living out a relatively normal life from there, Selina nevertheless harbored a grudge against men for all of the ones that she had encountered in her rough childhood, from her distant father to her mother's sleazy clientele. This resentment only strengthened after she joined the Gotham City Police Department at a young age, experiencing countless forms of harassment and mistreatment at the hands of disrespectful and corrupt officers. Feeling as if she could achieve more as an undercover agent, Selina worked Vice for a year and garnered a reputation among the city's prostitutes. This was where she made a career breakthrough, eventually gaining a much bigger case to tackle. Posing as socialite Holly Robinson, she soon became the trophy girlfriend of longtime gangster Salvatore Maroni, using her cover to collect the evidence to bring him down.
But after being discovered following an attempted sexual assault by Maroni's oldest son, Selina lost all sense of herself as a member of the department when she was forced to kill him. Thrust into a troubled relationship with Lieutenant Edward Nygma, she found herself a target of Maroni's wrath and was nearly killed. That was when her life ultimately changed, as she was rescued from a potentially fatal encounter by The Batman. Inspired by his heroism, she decided to forge her own path as someone who could strike back at the mob and get revenge over Maroni for the hit. Posing as Bruce Wayne's personal bodyguard after being re-assigned, she gained a deeper understanding of her idol when discovering that Wayne and Batman were the same man. Stealing some of his equipment for herself, Selina used the materials to craft a new identity for herself - as the masked thief and professional criminal, Catwoman.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Since Batman isn't going to be at the forefront of my writing in the game for awhile, I needed a reason to keep myself just as heavily invested in Ultimate Gotham in his absence. And what better way is there to do that than embark on something I've been meaning to do for awhile - playing a woman for a change. Specifically, this particular one, because I've always loved Selina's character. No matter what line she's walking on, something's always fascinated me about the level of strength and self-reliance that she's always carried herself with, and I want to see if I can test that in the trials that Gotham will undoubtedly throw out at her.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, Eddie Brock's stellar run in the first and second seasons already provided the basics. She was a cop before she became a thief, and she's a fledging vigilante when she isn't trying to steal from the mob. Holly Robinson doesn't exist beyond a cover name, so she's more or less on her own. With Batman taken out, I think what my version of Selina offers is a woman conflicted between her own goals and a sense of duty to a man she barely even knows. This won't be quite an all-out hero like she was in the comics before the relaunch, because that wouldn't make her very fun to write, but I do think that she feels like Catwoman could potentially fill the gap that Batman left behind - even if she's not nessecarily willing to uphold his strict sense of values.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I've never played a woman before, so I'm interested in exploring the parallels. I also think that when it comes to Gotham characters, my writing and my commitment levels are at their strongest.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
I hate this city.
And I'm not just talking about the way the street lamps flicker at night, the rampant car horns at every turn, the record pollution, and those abnoxious cab drivers that make you want to just slip off your five-inch heels and make a marathon for home at the very sight of them. No, those are the menial details lost in the art of the dance that is living in Gotham City. By the time I turned fourteen, I had mastered the dance and thought I'd had this city wired. Every rooftop and alleyway spoke to me like a second language. I knew how to manuever my way through any situation - be it a mugger, some two-bit con, or the unsavory glare of a streetwise pimp. Until I became a cop, that is. Then I had to play by a different set of rules. A code of conduct that came with the badge, giving me an ediquette that meant one of two things - play by the rules or play by their rules.
The more I think about it, maybe it isn't Gotham that I hate after all. It was always the limitations that people in it tried to throw onto my shoulders. With the department, I was always held back. Whether it was a matter of gender preference or the simple fact that I wouldn't take bribes, which made people on the force look at me like I was a disease, they treated me differently than the rest. They would try and gauge my reactions - especially the men, and provoke fights whenever it was clear that I was ready to engage, waiting for the moment that one of my superiors would walk through the door and put me on suspension. Happened enough times to give me quite the record.
Now that I'm free of those sordid attachments? There's only one set of rules for me to follow: Me and mine.
It takes a fraction of a second for me to realize that the next rooftop is trickier than usual to stick a landing. Lots of archetectual nonsense. Smiling to myself as I put forth the acceptance of a challenge, I grab the handle attached at my thigh and produce the new whip I had specially made for tonight. Leather and nylon interlaced with a liquid steel interweave. Strongest stuff I've come across and it cost about as much as you'd expect. But as I strike at the air and hear the crack of the leather, latching itself around the adjacent flagpole, I realize that it was a more than worthy investment. Not that it required any out-of-pocket expenses, of course. All I had to do was cash in a couple of diamonds "borrowed" from the Skeevers.
With little more than a midair tuck and roll, I vault forward and stick that so-called difficult landing with ease, feeling the tether of the whip slink into my hands as it retracts. Don't look now, but I think I've got a new favorite toy.
"Yeah. You're gonna work out just fine."
Stretching it out, preparing it for the next roof ahead, I sprint for the edge and jump out into the night, feeling the rush of the wind cool the fire in my face. No time to stop now, Selina. You've got an appointment to keep.
After all, a thief's work is never really done, is it?

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes:
Imbued with divine abilities and tools crafted by the gods, Wonder Woman has incredible strength and speed, and can fly through the air on invisible wings. An embodiment of Truth and Liberty, she can see the truth in all things, making her immune to illusion or mind control. Her Gauntlets of Victory are impervious to all attacks physical or magical, and her Lasso of Justice can reach into the minds of the wicked. The form of Wonder Woman is one that must be summoned, however, and in her human form Diana Prince is still very mortal.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
There was a time, not as long ago as Men would like to think, when the Gods had the power to shape the Earth. They had this power because Men believed in them, called upon them for protection from the Monsters of the dark. The Gods and the worlds of Magic were once potent and vibrant, and crossed over with the world of Men in places all over the Earth.
Slowly but surely, the Earth changed, as Men strengthened their dominion over it. Science drove out Magic, Logic overruled Faith, and the Gods and Monsters would lose their power.
In the first half of the Twentieth Century, the world of Men began to tear itself apart. War and death ravaged whole continents, and there were many who prayed to their Gods for protection. Unfortunately, the Gods of old were too far gone, too distant to wield their power anymore. So the remaining pantheons did the next best thing:
They created an Angel.
A creature of immaculate beauty and tremendous power, gifted with the perception of the divine, and fueled by a duty to champion Justice and Peace. However, none of the individual pantheons had the power to bring her into the world of Men by themselves. To that end, the old Gods found a new land, one whose people worshiped new Gods: Liberty. Equality. Prosperity. The iconography of the new land's "Lady Liberty," the principles of their "Founding Fathers," and the garish adventurism of their "Justice Society" were the missing piece of the puzzle. Sculpted of the old and wrapped in the new, this Angel would be brought to Earth to be the true hero of the age: the Wonder Woman.
However, the creation was halted by the forces of Darkness, the mystics and occultists of the Third Reich attempting to destroy Wonder Woman in the cosmic plane. Though they could not destroy her, her essence was lost in time, and though the war would end, the world would become a darker place in the years to come.
Some two generations later, a girl was born in Washington D.C. Her parents named her Diana Prince, and she was every bit the perfect American daughter. Exceptionally bright, always active in school and in college, and fiercely passionate in her beliefs, Diana would later enlist in the Army to serve the country she loved.
While helping to rebuild the war-torn nation of Afghanistan, Diana was shot in a roadside ambush. Fatally wounded, she was sure that she would die right then and there. Instead, her eyes were truly opened. Her spirit flowed with power from beyond the world of Men. And her destiny was revealed to her.
She was the Wonder Woman, born too late to stop the horrors for which she was created, but not too late to stop the horrors yet to come.
Returning to America, she left the Army, believing she could do more good at home than abroad. Following in the footsteps of the new champions like Superman and the Flash, Wonder Woman became a crime-fighter and social crusader, traveling across the country to help wherever she could. Behind her charity and her vigilantism, she still has one single-minded goal: to save the world from the war that is just beyond the horizon.
Darkness looms over the world of Men, but not for long. For even though the age of Gods and Monsters is over, it has saved its best for last.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Because Wonder Woman is criminally underrated and needs representation in the games. And also, because I love mythological monsters and whatnot, and Wondy is pretty much tailor-made for that sort of thing.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: She's got her powers from all pantheons, not just the Greeks. And there's no Themyscira, either. From a personal perspective, the death of Steve Trevor and her suddenly becoming a protector/mentor figure for Donna Troy both affect Diana greatly, especially in the season to come.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
Apart from what I said in my app for Dick? A disturbingly intense love for pizza rolls.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
In the sleeping quarters of the Justice League headquarters in Happy Harbor, Diana Prince tossed fitfully in her sleep. Her head was filled with images, places and people she had never seen.
In her vision, she saw the gods-- all of them, from every pantheon, from every culture, from every primitive man who put a name and face to why the sun came up in the morning. She saw their power fading from the world, their desperation to hold their place in the minds of mortals.
She saw the world ravaged by war, and the gods conferring to take advantage. They would be worshipped again, when their creation saved mankind from itself: the angel and servant of all deities, the Wonder Woman.
She saw men in jackboots and black uniforms, wearing the badges of the SS, casting a spell to stop her creation. She saw the perfect being shattered into pieces, her essence tossed through time and space.
Diana saw herself, the largest shard of the Wonder Woman, coming into the world decades too late.
And she saw others, other fragments of herself, other women with power, now lost and wandering in the world, with no knowledge of their gifts or the dangers that await them.
Diana saw a lithe red-haired woman in Chicago smashing a would-be mugger's face through a cinderblock wall.
In Utah, a tall stocky woman ran towards a horrific traffic accident, lifting a car off the ground by herself to free the victims pinned beneath the wreckage.
In San Francisco, a pale young woman with a silver stripe through her hair looked in horror at a tenement fire, realizing she had drawn that very image earlier that morning.
In Detroit, a black girl with her hair pulled into tight braids reached out and grabbed the knife from a drug addict's hand as he charged her, and, as if she had known the weapon her entire life, slashed across the attacker's chest without effort.
In the backwoods of Florida, a malnourished woman in ragged clothes came across a deer caught in a bear trap. The feral woman laid a hand upon the animal, and within an instant, its wounds were healed.
In Happy Harbor, only a few doors down from where Diana slept, Donna Troy lay wide awake in her bed, uncertain of herself or the world around her.
Diana saw them all, and knew at once their true names. Artemis. Io. Pythia. Philippus. Magala. Troia.
"The pieces of yourself must be found again," the thousands upon thousands of gods, revered or forgotten, said in one voice. "The world of Man will soon face times more evil than it has ever known. The Wonder Woman must be made whole, if the world is to be saved....."

Aaaaand since we need a little representation on the villain side of things, here's my third character:
THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Vandal Savage
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain.
.Powers and physical attributes: Vandal Savage possesses unequaled regenerative properties, allowing him to heal nearly instantly from the most grievous and otherwise-fatal wounds. This same regeneration has permanently halted his aging process allowing him to live for thousands of years. In his millennia walking the Earth, he has become a master tactician and strategist, and a master with virtually every weapon known to man.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Those relative few who know of Vandal Savage know very little of him themselves, though there is no shortage of rumor and myth regarding the man. They say he had the ear of Hitler, Napoleon, Ghengis Khan, Alexander the Great, and any number of kings and conquerors, Popes and Caesars. They say he was responsible for the London fires, the Black Death, the fall of Rome. They say he has gone by such infamous names as Jack the Ripper and Vlad the Impaler, and even the biblical Cain, the first murderer.
Only Savage himself knows just how old he is and how much influence he has had over the course of history.....and that is just the way he likes is. All most mortals need to know is that whenever Vandal Savage appears, doom is likely to follow.
Currently, Savage has aligned himself with Lex Luthor's Society, the only group of mortals powerful and ambitious enough for him to find interesting. While Luthor and his compatriots prepare their plans for world domination, Savage has been given a different task: form a team of super-powered psychopaths and monsters, let them loose on the world, and kill the members of the Justice League.
.The burning question - Why this character?: As much as it's absolutely killing me to not immediately re-apply as Lex, the truth is most of Luthor's master plans require a lot of time lurking behind the scenes, and frankly, I want a little spotlight. Savage and his cronies should be a fun all-up-in-your-business deal for a while.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
Well, Savage is going to be a pro-active supervillain, whereas most of the time in the comics he's usually content to sit back and watch the mere mortals duke it out. This is his first real war in ages, and he's going to enjoy it.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
A villain that will make the Justice League crap its collective pants.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
"Escalation is a constant in conflict," said Vandal Savage, casually swirling his brandy as he addressed the individuals aboard his yacht. "One army creates stronger armor, and the other forges blades to pierce it. One side erects heavier fortifications, and the other side engineers weapons to tear them down. From sticks and rocks to smart-bullets and laser satellites, when one side of a conflict raises the stakes, it will always be met by the other side."
Sipping his drink, Savage surveyed his guests.
A bearded man in a flawless three-piece suit looked at him with intrigue, trying to read the immortal man as he subconsciously fiddled with his golden cuff-links in the shape of lightning bolts.
A woman with deathly-pale blue skin and dark blue pixie-cut hair leaned against the wall, her arms crossed, with a skeptical look on her face that belied the eager spark in her eyes.
A thin man with slicked-back red hair scanned the room nervously, patting the head of the robotic monkey at his feet.
The red-haired man's nervous looks went mostly to the large man on the opposite side of the room, his head a bare skull wrapped in sickly green flames.
A second woman, her skin covered in a thin coat of spotted fur, lounged on a sofa in the middle of the room, amused to be in such outlandish company.
Behind them all, an enormous slab of a man with chalky white skin and tattered clothes stared almost vacantly, seeming at best only halfway aware of what was going on.
"The world has seen an influx of extraordinary individuals, self-proclaimed 'heroes' who wish to change the world to their own personal view of utopia," Vandal Savage continued. "Currently, there is no force on Earth that is a match for the Justice League. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the natural response. Welcome, my new friends, to the Legion of Doom."

This is his first real war in ages, and he's going to enjoy it.

.Character you wish to portray:
Ultimate Superman
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Hero
.Powers and physical attributes:
Super strength, speed, hearing, and sight; as well as flight, heat vision, Arctic breath, X-ray and thermal vision, and a high degree of invulnerability.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
The planet Krypton was known around the universe as being a world where technology and spiritual enlightenment went hand in hand, where its people had learned to live in harmony with the world's ecosystem. To help accomplish this achievement, eons ago Krypton's top scientists gradually introduced specifically engineered genes into the population, which allowed them to take a considerable amount of their body's needed energy from their solar system's red sun, whereas almost every other known carbon-based lifeform would usually get such nourishment from food and drink. The red wavelength of the solar energy wasn't anything truly substantial, but for countless years it was more than enough to free the Kryptonians from any concern of over-harvesting Krypton's resources in order to sustain their quality of life. Their way of life was never shaken; not through the Phantom Zone war, through the political disputes over Birthing Matrices, the abduction of the entire city of Kandor, and even through the controversial ruling that interplanetary travel would finally be forbidden.
And then came the Green Death. What Krypton's greatest minds could only call a "radioactive disturbance" arrived on the planet one day. It's physiology itself was in complete stark contrast to the Kryptonians'; where they were powered largely by solar rays taken from their red sun, this new entity's energy was drawn from Krypton's unique green planetary core. Funneled through the entity, the core's radiation swept through the population, slowly killing them via radiation poisoning while also causing immense geological damage to the planet. It wasn't long before a young scientist named Jor-El, considered a rogue by his peers, recognized that the planet did not have much longer to live, and with his wife, they retrieved their unborn son's birthing matrix and placed little Kal-El on board a small illegally developed rocket. Setting the rocket's coordinates for any planet far enough away from Krypton to never risk the Green Death from ever reaching their son, and with a compatible environment to allow him to mature safely, Jor-El launched the ship mere moments before Krypton exploded.
Arriving on Earth, Kal-El grew up in a small town in Kansas called Smallville. Raised as Clark Kent by Jonathan and Martha Kent, Clark was the star of his high school football team and was accepted to study journalism abroad before almost marrying his high school sweetheart Lana Lang. Before leaving home, however, Clark's parents told him a secret--the secret of how he's not from around Smallville.
Now living in Metropolis, one of the largest and most culturally and technologically developed cities in the world, Clark Kent has earned his way into one of the top spots as a reporter for The Daily Planet. But Clark Kent also leads another life, a life where he dons the Kryptonian uniform that was hastily thrown into his interplanetary life raft years ago, along with several other artifacts from Krypton. This is a life where he has defended the innocent from a number of superpowered villains, such as Blackrock and Neutron, and will tirelessly continue to do so.
Cleared of any crimes after being manipulated by Dr. Destiny into attacking the small nation of Pokolistan, Superman struggles to regain the public's trust in himself and the Justice League, although his own faith in the team has never been stronger. Clark finally believes 100% in these heroes that he has allied himself with, and the adventure continues.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
I played him through most of his pre-reboot career and all through the first and second seasons of this continuity, and would love to continue working with the character. I'd like to further explore his relationships with his supporting cast and expand on the villains in his corner of the UDCU.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
The entire history of Krypton has changed, giving some explanation as to why Kryptonians are able to essentially be solar powered. I've also given a new reason for Krypton's destruction (which will come back to haunt Clark, as well as being the Ultimate version of an old villain), and I've kept the Ultimized version of Krypton that Karem Knight and I came up with from the pre-reboot days, with the societal unease over the more privileged families having their unborn offspring being engineered to have stronger immune systems while coming to term in a birthing matrix (an artificial womb); while the lower class citizens get to give birth the old fashioned way, with all the risks that come with it.
Superman himself is younger, but quickly gaining more and more experience. He's also not at planet or continent moving levels of strength, but he did grit his teeth and push Sta'rro all the way across our solar system towards the end of the first season, and I'm comfortable with that level of strength, so I'll keep it around there. Superman's costume is also a peacekeeping uniform from Krypton. The Fortress of Solitude is just a cave that can be outfitted to have infinite space within it (a combination of two of Superman's previous FOS's in the comics), but Clark really hasn't developed it any further than setting up a small workshop and a Kryptonian computer system.
You also might have noticed in my "Origin and Backstory" section that Clark almost married Lana before leaving Smallville. I didn't get around to exploring that in previous seasons, but I'd like to do so this time.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
I can bring a dedication to the character, as I've demonstrated by sticking with him before the reboot with very minimal lags in overall posting. I can also bring with me a creativity for putting a new spin on old concepts while staying true to the spirit of the character and what he represents.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk23/Spike_x1/UDC%20RPG/Superman/UltSupermanBanner-1.jpg
After many hours of hard work, I finally rub my hands together with a job well done. Pokolistan's capital city has been restored, buildings stand tall once again, and the roads are ready to have cars run along them for the first time in years. I can't stop the way that people think, and bringing about real change here is going to take more than a few fixed houses and roadways. That's up to them. But if my rebuilding efforts here have given even a single Pokolistanian family a place to safely tuck their children in and sleep comfortably for even one night, then at least some small measure of good has come from all of this.
I hear light footsteps quickly approaching from a block away and turn to see who it is. Meeting my eyes now is a little girl with only a pet dog for company here in the otherwise deserted streets. She looks cheerful and reasonably well cared for, especially considering the environment, so I can assume that her parents or guardians must be nearby. After a moment of looking at me in puzzlement, her gaze starts moving around the reconstructed house and her jaw drops in wonder. With a gentle wave farewell to her, she returns my smile and I take to the skies to set course for home while my thoughts drift to everything that just took place.
The Justice League.
My fears regarding the formation of our team proved to be my ultimate weakness instead of the reasonable cautious attitude that I had thought it all was. Even before Doctor Destiny invaded and warped my mind, how could I have expected to work alongside a group that I could never allow myself to actually trust? I needed to learn --to be shown-- that these people are not a group of potential Blackrocks or Maximas waiting to happen and be unleashed on the world. Through everything that has just happened, these heroes have more than earned my trust, and proved that they'll help the world at all costs and fight for what's right, even against insurmountable odds. In the end, that's more than enough proof I will ever need to truly see that forming the Justice League was a good choice for all of us to make.
~J'onn?~ I mentally call from one planet to another, hoping that he's available to answer.
~Yes, Superman?~
~Whenever you choose to return to Earth, do you think that you might like to have dinner with my folks and I some time? My mom makes a mean apple pie and I think she and Dad would love to meet one of my coworkers.~.Preferred roster pic? (No preference, and one will be chosen for you):

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Wotan
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain
.Powers and physical attributes: Wotan is a sorcerer and, as such, uses magic for offensive, supportive and defensive uses. Usually he pronounces an incantation in order to use a spell. Wotan uses magic to accomplish several feats such as: Flight, conjuration, lightning bolts, fire bolts and force fields.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Wotan is a sorcerer, originally born, in the 6th century, to peasant parents. From a young age, Wotan showed an innate knowledge of magic despite receiving no training.
Wotan's parents abused the boy both physically and mentally, exploiting his powers to make money. After traveling the country, performing cheap parlor tricks, Wotan eventually came to the attention of the great wizard, Merlin.
Merlin was the latest in a long line of wizards protecting the Earth from supernatural threats, under the moniker of Dr. Fate.
Rescuing Wotan from his parents, Merlin trained the boy in the mystic arts. As he grew older, Wotan began experimenting with black magic, unbeknownst to his mentor. The years passed and Wotan's power grew, but so did his greed. Realizing Merlin had been training him to take on the role of Dr. Fate, Wotan felt he was more than ready. But Merlin was no fool, and he knew his apprentice had been taken in by the allure of Dark Magic.
In a confrontation that scorched the land, Wotan attempted to kill his mentor and become Dr. Fate; the most powerful sorcerer of all time.
.The burning question - Why this character?: I wanted to play an until-now untouched villain. Wotan, who I first saw on Young Justice, struck me as a pretty good choice, as he is low-key enough for me to do my own thing, but powerful enough to become a big threat if he succeeds in his plans.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Wotan's history in the comics is a little weird, so I ultimized it as we do. I've altered his origin as you can see above as well as creating the Ultimate version of Dr. Fate(s).
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: An enthusiastic player, a new villain, and hopefully a whole bunch of supernatural elements.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
"YOU ARE A FOOL!"
Wotan reached into the deepest, darkest corner of his cold heart, a barrage of fire bolts exploding from the palm of his hand. The flames soared across the battlefield, like birds of prey, towards Merlin.
"It is you who is blind to reason, Wotan." Merlin spoke, his voice muffled and distorted by the Helm of Nabu, but somehow reverberating in Wotan's bones. "Merlin may wish to save you from the darkness that consumes you..."
The fire bolts are suddenly wrenched from their path and sent flying off into the distance, before they dissipate and vanish. "...but Fate has intervened. You will be put down."
"Merlin is a weak, old man. The Helm of Nabu is mine!" Wotan spat as golden chains shot forth from Dr. Fate's hands, wrapping themselves around the corrupt sorcerer like living tendrils. "Unlimited power will be mine to wield!"
"You stand no chance against the power of Fate, Wotan." Dr. Fate clenched his gloved fist, and the chains tightened around Wotan's chest. "You could no more wield the power of Nabu than you can stand against it."
"ENOUGH!" Wotan roared, the chains exploding into a thousand pieces. "You take me for a fool?! I can hear the struggle in your voice, Doctor. The frailty of your spells."
A tendril of lightning slithers from Wotan's palm, connecting with Dr. Fate's chest. The greatest sorcerer alive howls in pain, falling to his knees as the electricity ravages his body. "Merlin's body is weak. It can no longer contain your immense power, Nabu. Join me, and together we will rule."
"Nn...Ngggh...." the Doctor struggles, writhing in pain. Suddenly his eyes grow a cold, blue, and a massive explosion rocks the earth. "ENOUGH!"
Wotan screams in pain as he his thrown to his back. Before he manages to get back to his feet, hundreds of golden chains wrap themselves around his body and punch into the dirt beneath, fastening him to the ground.
"You do not deserve the power of Dr. Fate." the sorcerer scoffs, standing tall above the enraged form of his former apprentice. Suddenly Wotan's body begins sinking into the ground, the chains pulling him deeper and deeper underground. "May these chains hold you for centuries to come, Wotan."
"NO! I WILL NOT BE DENIED!" Wotan roars, fighting futilely against the chains as they drag him down. "RELEASE ME!"
"None can fight Fate, Wotan."
"I CARE NOT HOW LONG IT TAKES." screams Wotan, moments before he is encased in earth for hundreds of years. "THE HELM OF NABU WILL BE M-"

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray:
Lor-Zod (Ultimate Superboy)
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Hero (new for Season 3!)
.Powers and physical attributes:
Lor-Zod is a pure-blood Kryptonian who was born in the extradimensional realm known as the Phantom Zone. Like any Kryptonian, Lor-Zod exhibits superstrength, superhuman stamina, x-ray vision, and flight at sonic speeds when exposed to yellow sun radiation. What makes Lor-Zod unique is the fact that he has developed these powers while still a child (in contrast to the UDC versions of Kal-El or Kara Zor-El, who didn't develop their powers until their teenage years). It is believed that Lor-Zod's genesis in the Phantom Zone is the cause for this deviation, as Lor's natural state would be one of energy and not matter. Lor-Zod is not as strong as an adult Kryptonian, but many times more so than a normal human. While he has demonstrated many of Superman's same abilities, this version of Lor-Zod has not yet manifested any form of heat vision.
Physically, Lor-Zod appears to be a child of around 8 years of age with light brown hair and eyes. As Superboy, Lor-Zod does not don any kind of heroic costume and prefers just a t-shirt and jeans (in the opposite color from DCU's Kon-El, so Lor's t-shirt is red and his S-shield is black). For NASA missions he may wear the iconic light blue flightsuit typical of astronauts, with the insignia of the House of Zod worn in lieu of a nametag on the left side of the chest.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
.:Origin & UDC Season 1
Lor-Zod is the son of the Kryptonian General Dru-Zod and his lieutenant, Ursa. He was conceived and born during General Zod's exile to the Phantom Zone, owing to the unique properties of a prison compound within the Zone that was immune to its timeless effects. General Zod's starcruiser eventually punched its way out of the Phantom Zone and appeared in normal reality, now in orbit of Apokalips. While General Zod wrestled with Darkseid, Lor-Zod and his pet Krypto encountered the extradimensional being known as Mister Mxyptlk. When told that Lor-Zod was looking for other Kryptonians, Mxyptlk teleported the child to Earth to find Superman.
Facebook and Twitter postings made him an internet sensation, during which Lor-Zod was taken in by a pair of NASA scientists (Dabney Donovan and Albert Michaels), who then fought a political and media battle in order to keep other agencies of the U.S. government, notably the Department of Defense, from gaining custody of the child Superboy. After rescuing the Space Shuttle Excalibur and Astronaut Micah Flint, Lor-Zod was summoned by the Martian Manhunter - along with Majestic, Flash, the Atom, Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman - to battle the Starro threat, leading to the formation of the Justice League.
.:Superboy & UDC Season 2
With the rescue of the space shuttle and the lost-in-space astronaut, Lor-Zod shifted from viral internet postings to mainstream media, with the public attention stalling U.S. Department of Defense plans to secure the Kryptonian child for experiments intended to develop viable weapons for use against Superman, which they had labeled Project Superboy. Re-branded as a NASA science and recruiting tool, Lor-Zod found himself as the unofficial mascot of Space Camp, after which NASA scientists were quick to capitize on the boy's abilities to run experiments to and from the International Space Station and the moon. Lor-Zod faced his greatest challenge when Micah Flint mutated into an enraged rock-like monster, but the treat to his friend Adam Grant gave the boy the motivation he needed to overcome his enemy. Afterward, Lor-Zod helped Superman rescue Cat Grant from the Toyman and began attending Benedict Arnold Elementary School with Adam.
Currently there are two different sections of Project Superboy. The publically known side of the project is the NASA scientific and educational program headed by Dabney Donovan, intended to nurture and develop Superboy's knowledge of Earth while increasing scientific understanding of alien life. The dark side is the secret experiments headed by Albert Michaels with funding from General Sam Lane, covertly continuing the Department of Defense initiative to use access to Lor-Zod as opportunity to try and develop anti-Kryptonian weapons.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
Prior to the Crisis of Infinite Earths, part of the Superman mythos had been that Clark had his powers as a child so when I was growing up reading comics in the 80's those "Superbaby" tales were part of character (my favorite part of the first Superman movie is still the kid picking up the truck). Reading about Lor-Zod in "The Last Son" arc brought back memories of those fun stories, so I thought he'd be an interesting character to explore in UDC.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
The genesis of his being the son of General Zod and born in the Phantom Zone remain the same, but the character's perspective and attitude are what set him apart. He is not Christopher Kent nor does he look up to Superman. Ultimate Lor-Zod enjoyed an actual parent-child relationship with General Zod and as a result this Lor-Zod seeks to emulate the behavior of his father, without really understanding the consequences of that. He is neither cute nor sweet, but very dangerous and headstrong. He finds humanity weak and not worth saving, though therein lies the hook for his development... the more he gets to know the people of Earth, the more he regrets what he imagines will come of it when his father either destroys or enslaves humanity.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
I've never been UDC's most prolific writer, but I think I tend to make very substantive contributions when I have a story to tell (my problem being when the story I want to tell concludes prior to the end of the season). Plans for Season 3 involve fleshing out the International Space Station and Project Superboy some more.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
The International Space Station
200 miles above the Earth
It apparently wasn’t often that the astronauts got a knock at the airlock, the scientists obviously more impressed with the young Superboy than he was with the marvel of human technology that was the multi-national footprint among the stars. Except for one part, the view from a lower module that offered a panoramic glimpse at the planet Earth below. He’d seen a glimpse similar one other time, onboard his father’s spaceship.
It was perhaps the first time that he’d allowed himself to feel homesick.
But such melancholy would have been weakness, and the House of Zod had no tolerance for the weak. Or, at least, he’d been taught not to tolerate weakness. And because of that repetition had never bothered to learn what ‘weakness’ meant. What was it to be strong? What was it to be weak?
Humans could not touch the sky as he could, yet they had traveled beyond the atmosphere of their world. Humans looked as he did, felt as he did – realities he wouldn’t have given a thought to if not for the time he’d spent with Adam Grant. Now, staring down at the planet from which he knew of no escape, it struck the small Kryptonian that perhaps he was the one who was weak.
“You must see this view a lot.”
Glancing back over his shoulder, the brown-haired youth turned to see the Canadian head scientist hovering through the hatchway. In contrast to everything suspended in micro-gravity around him, the boy was curled up on the floor beside the picturesque view. “Not really,” Lor-Zod answered simply, as his fawn-eyed gaze returned to the Earth outside. “It… It’s a nice view though,” the child added after another moment, hesitating a moment before finishing the thought. He had been about to say it reminded him of someplace else.
“I like looking at the moon myself,” the scientist remarked casually, floating over toward the mysterious alien boy. Though it might have been a publicity stunt on the part of the Americans, he had to admit that he hadn’t been sure of what to think when the child had literally drifted up from the planet and knocked on the door. “I can’t wait for the day when we can go back there to do more experiments.”
Drifting up from off the floor, the Superboy allowed himself to drift into a lazy, stretched out pose as he looked over at the man. Lor had some idea of what went on at the space station from his time at Space Camp. “What kind of experiments?”
“Oh, I don’t know… soil samples. Look for water. That kind of thing.”
“Kinda silly to wait for that, isn’t it?”
“Perhaps. But our space shuttles are orbiters, they can’t…” the man began, training off slightly as it was obvious a thought had occurred to him. As it did, he gave the Superboy a second look.
“I can,” Lor affirmed, before drifting back toward the window and adding, “Besides, I think Krypto wants to go for a walk.”
“What’s a kryp…” the Canadian began, doing a double take – and nearly having a heart attack – as something new floated into view on the other side of the thick, treated glass. “Is that a Labrador?”

.Note on NPCs Related to this Application
While Lor-Zod shares many of the same story elements as Spike's Superman, he does have some unique NPCs associated largely only with this character, including: Krypto the Superdog, Dabney Donovan, Albert Michaels (Pre-Crisis Atomic Skull in DCU), Micah Flint (Rock, currently deceased), Oswald Loomis (Prankster), and Adam Grant (Cat Grant's son).

.Character you wish to portray: The Atom
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: The ability to shrink down to microscopic size, and the ability to shift her weight so even at (for example) six inches tall she can have weight and strength as though she were her normal size. Can also shift her weight so that she can float on air currents and travel along cell-phone signals.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):Rhiannon Palmer was a doctor of molecular biology at Wayne Enterprises' Medical Research division. She is strong-willed and fiercely independent because her parents are so well known in Gotham so she wants to prove that she can do things without having to rely on her parents' name (Father was the QB of the Gotham Knights died of Cancer, Mother was a well-known writer died in a boating accident). Rhiannon graduated from Central City Tech with a PHD in molecular biology at the age of 24 and moved back to Gotham took an entry level position at Star Labs satellite office in Gotham. She was on the verge of a major breakthrough in Diabetes research. Her intention was to shrink a specialized computer chip to help the pancreas secrete insulin. Rhiannon did not realize that if she had succeeded the Pharmacutical Divison of Star Labs would lose Billions in research grant money from the Government, and her superiors (unknown to her) tampered with the laser that would be used for the shrinking process and re-alligned the targeting mirrors so when it was fired it would fire at her automatically. When she test fired it struck her. Her superiors thought that she would be killed, but instead the laser blast had no noticeable effect on her at first. Rhiannon was blamed for the laser misfire but was told that there would be hearing to determine what happened in the interest of fairness. Rhiannon decided to sneak back into the lab to study the laser. She was studying it closely and thought that she saw something in the targeting mirrors she was certain it was there if there was only a way to see it closer. Then suddenly Rhiannon noticed that the room was getting bigger and bigger until the targetting mirrors were as big as the Washington Monument. Rhiannon Plamer discovered she now had the ability to shrink at will. That night she conducted a series of tests upon herself and discovered all of her powers. Rhainnon Palmer knew that she had been given these powers for a reason and was determined to make a diference. She then took a bio-suit that had been moth-balled and created her costume which would appear only when she shrank other wise would disappear when she returned to normal size. Rhiannon took her evidence and proved there had been tampering with the equipment. Rather than drag the events out she would agree to resign and keep quiet in exchange for letters of recommendation and a "healthy" serverance package. Rhainnon was able to gain a job at Wayne Enterprises' medical research divison as a research scientist. She eventually left there and took a position at STAR Labs in Metropolis as the Head or Micro-Biology R &D. However after dealing certain Governement Agencies she left there and is currently a Private Investigator because she now whats some action and adventure in her life without having to become The Atom. However that to will change this season! This season the stories will take a more sci-fi approach.
The burning question - Why this character?: I have played this character for a long time and I have a lot of fun with her, and all the other characters I play are villains she is the only Super-Hero I play.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: This character is a female, and while she is a scientist she enjoys the adventure and danger aspect of crime fighting unlike the actual DC character who is more scientific. Plus she will also be an expert in Judo so she does know how to defend herself.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I have been in this RPG for sometime and have good chemistry with(and respect for) my fellow players and I have almost 30 years of experience.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
The Atom begins floating away on the night air. She smiles feeling a sense of confidence and strength.
All-right Metropolis...bring it on...I am so ready. For the first time since I got my powers I finally feel like a real super-hero...and it feels awesome!
She spots a mugging in progress.
Okay so it's not exactly a big name Super Villain or but hey I got to do what I have to do. This idiot is breaking the law and he needs to be stopped.
The Atom floats down and lands on top of the gun barrell.
The mugger is stunned looking at The Atom.
She says, "What's the problem? Can't find a date?"
The mugger begins to swipe at her with his free hand and she shifts her weight. The mugger stumbles and falls forward. As he is falling The Atom clocks him the jaw and he is now unconcsious.
She floats up to the victim and says, "Get his gun. I'll call the cops."
The Atom gets to a pay phone and calls 911. The police arrive as she leaves the scene.
Okay who's next?

.Character you wish to portray: Doris Zuel/ Giganta
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:Villian
.Powers and physical attributes: To grow to several hundred feet and strength equal to her height. The suit which grows with her is bulletproof and resistant to extremes in temperatrue.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Janet Alton was a gifted athlete who grew up in a small town in Iowa. She was determined to escape her small town existence at price.
Janet recieved an athletic scholarship to the Univeristy of Iowa where she excelled in Track and Field. She realized that once her college career was over it could mean a return to her small town. Again she was willing to pay any price to escape her existence in that town inculding the abuse of steroids. Janet was caught using them subsequently kicked-off the team, but she was allowed to stay in school if she named anyone else involved. Janet knew that if she named anyone else in the scandel there would be those who seek retribution since she was receiving them from a powerful pharamcutical company, and her reputiation in her own hometown was now ruined, but she did see one way out of everything. One night Janet destroyed her car and any forms of indentification that she had Janet Alton was now dead as far as anyone knew. She created a new appearance and a new name for herself; Doris Zuel. She left Iowa once and for all.
Doris hitch-hiked her way across the country all the way to Metropolis. She used her beauty and charm to land a job as a receptionist at Lexcorp Towers. It wasn't much but at least it paid the bills and there was hardly any questions asked about her past. A company as big as Lexcorp she could hide in plain sight.
Her life was moving along without a hitch she even saw the big-man himself Lex Luthor a couple of times. Until one day everything changed when a disgruntled employee with a pistol broke through the security barracde and attempted to kill Lex. Without even thinking Doris threw herself in-front of the bullet intended for Lex.
As Doris recovered in the hospital Lex visited her privately and made her deal. He knew of her past as Janet Alton but was willing to let that stay a secret because he had use for her. Lex needed someone who could not only be his body-guard but someone who could act as an "emmisary" for him especially when others were foolish enough to disagree with his point of view. In return Doris would recieve a substantal salary and best of all Lex promised that he would use his power and connection to see to it that Janet Alton stayed dead and Doris Zuel was always among the human race.
Lex though had one more offer for Doris. He analyzed the sterioids in her blood and realized that they could be enhanced as never before. Lex had his scientists work on a serum that would work with the steroids already in Doris' blood stream. A serum which would enable Doris to grow to heights unheard of. Originally Lex was going to use Doris as example of Lexcorp's advanced medical research and in gaining more profitable Government contracts, but he saw the potential that Doris presented in his battle with Superman and others like him. Lex had a suit designed for Doris when she used her growth power and had hair cells grafted. When she was her normal 6' 6" height it was blonde but when she grew it would turn red.
Doris is completely loyal to Lex and will carry out his orders without question. She is ready to kill and die for him on command because he gave her a second chance at life. Though she appriciates her new life as Doris her life as Giganta is what she wants to be remembered for the most.
.The burning question - Why this character?: I have played her before and I enjoy playing characters that seem one-demensional and showing that they are not that way at all.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Doris is Lex's bodyguard she has a backstory that is not even close to her comic-book counterpart.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A good chemistry with other players and almost 30 years of experience.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
Doris arrives at the Metropolis Docks and approaches the Yacht of Keith Muller C-E-O of Muller industries.
Muller looks at her and says, "I know you you work for Luthor."
Doris replies, "Correct Mr. Muller I am here as an emmisary of Mr. Luthor. He regrest that he is unable at this time to present his request to you in person at this time. But he along with your own borad of directors and your soon to be ex-wife are hoping that you will reconsider this most generous offer for your company. You are the lone holdout from making this deal happen."
Muller crosses over to Doris somewhat drunk and replies, "Hell no I didn't build my company up just so that snake Luthor could steal it from me. You and the rest of them can go to hell because it ain't happening. Now get out of here I never want to see your face again. I'm taking my boat out to sea and when I get back the offer on the table will be null and void and I'll deal with my board of directors when I return."
Doris says in almost a growl, "Oh don't worry you won't see it ever again."
Doris watches the Yacht pull away she returns to the Limo and sees no one looking around. She quickly disrobes revealing her Giganta suit and dives into the water.
Once in the water she grows to 50 feet tall and begins swimming fast enough to pass the yacht. She uses her feet to grab the anchor and begins pulling the boat further and further out to sea while growing taller and taller.
They reach a point where land is nowhere in sight. Muller staggers out and says, "Hey what's going on I have radioed the Coast Guard they'll be here soon."
Just then Giganta stands up and holds the boat eye level. She says, "You should've listened to the offer. Now when it is announced you died in a boating accident the deal will go through anyway. You could've done this the easy way but you decided to be difficult so be it."
Giganta uses a finger and shoves Muller inside the boat. She then proceeds to shove the boat underwater until it breaks apart and she sees Muller floating to the surface.
She dives underwater and swims back to shore returning to normal size.
Doris contacts Lex on a secured cell-phone and says, "It's done. Tomorrow's Daily Planet will read about the drunken billionare who died in a boating accident."

Character you wish to portray: Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot.
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: villain
.Powers and physical attributes: No meta-human abilities, but has information on EVERY illegal activity in Gotham and several contacts within the City Government and GCPD. However he could be considered a world class athlete except for the limp in his left leg in which he uses a cane (which doubles as a sword). Oswald is 6’4” with black hair, blue eyes and always wearing a Black & White Armani suit.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Oswald Cobblepot grew up the child of a high ranking enforcer of the Scardina crime family. His mother died when he was very young but his father, inspite of his job, loved his son and tried to provide for him best he could. Eddie Cobblepot taught his son the value of not only charm, charisma and physical intimidation and how it can be used to open doors, but that information was the true power in the world. Knowing as much as one could about a situation or a person was the real power.
Eddie also taught Oswald that no-one is ever given anything for free that what one wants from life has to be earned. To that end he got an 18 year old Oswald a job as a door-man at the Black Orchid one of the swankiest clubs in Gotham owned by Don Scardina. The club was so high-classed Oswald had to wear a tuxedo at all times. Don Scardina commented once how Oswald looked like a Penguin in the tux. That was considered high-praise from him. One evening Don Scardina was conducting a business deal at the club while Eddie was there to pick up Oswald just as the Don was leaving one of the rival crime gangs tried to kill the Don. Oswald without thinking shoved the Don to the ground and took a bullet in the leg. Oswald’s act of heroism saved The Don, but his father was killed in the cross-fire. Don Scardina not only paid for the surgery that saved Oswald’s leg from being amputated, but he took Oswald in and treated him like he was one of his own children. He saw to it that Oswald went to the best Ivy League schools and during semester breaks taught him about how things worked in his line of work. Oswald took to the lessons like a fish to water, and Don Scardina knew he had found someone he could one day leave his empire to.
When the Don died he left everything to Oswald and named him as the new Don. Oswald took his Ivy league education and the lessons his father taught him about information and applied it to his “new line of work” expanding the empire heights that Don Scardina could only dream of. Oswald was able to use his gifts to give the appearance that the Scardina Empire was legit and he also used his new found power to make friends in very high places. However all of the legitimacy airs are a front. The truth is Oswald has connections throughout the criminal underworld and city politics, and he knows how to use the information to get the sides to play off of each other so he makes a VERY nice profit. His main base of operations the super elegant restaurant and lounge called “The Iceberg Lounge .”
He prefers to be called Oswald or Mr. Cobblepot, but those “in the know” refer to him by the nick-name Don Scardina called him for all those years “The Penguin”
.The burning question - Why this character?: He is a unique character. He doesn’t seem that imposing but yet he is able to give Batman fits time and again.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: This version of The Penguin is a 180 from the comic version. In this version he is tall, good looking, physically fit, and instead of him trying to suck up to everyone in high society they want to be with him.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I’ve been here from the get so I know my way around and I’ve been RPGing for almost 30 years.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
Oswald makes his way through a gathering of the players and front office personnel of the Super Bowl Champion “Gotham Knights”
The owner of the Knights Dan McAllister approaches Oswald and says, “Mr. Cobblepot I can’t thank you enough this party you’re throwing for us is just better than I could’ve envisioned it. I admit I was bit skeptical and taken aback when you said you wanted to throw us our victory celebration, but this has been just unreal. Thank you.”
The two men shake hands and Oswald says, “Daniel my good man it’s Oswald. This is not only a victory for your fine organization but this is a victory for our city. It’s been a lot of years since we had a Super Bowl champion in this city and we’re gonna celebrate it with style. Just wait until you see the victory parade. It’ll make this look like we’re serving pizza rolls and sprite.”
Dan says, “Well thank you again Oswald.”
Oswald bows slightly and continues making his way through the crowd. Talking to some of the guest along the way and taking pictures, but keeping an eye out for one of his employees to give him a nod.
The employee gives him a nod and Oswald begins to be much more subtle about his presence in the room blending in with the crowds until he is against a wall in the furthest reaches of the room. He sees no one is looking and presses a hidden button. The wall rotates and Oswald is now taking a hidden passageway to an office under the club.
Oswald presses a button on his speaker phone and says in Spanish, “< Marcus my friend how are things going in your part of the world>?”
Marcus responds, “Penguin the weapons arrived here on time and are already are being used to beat back the Government forces and the DEA. The tide has turned thank you my dear friend!”
Oswald responds, “<Excellent! I now have need of your services my friend.>”
Marcus says, “What can I do for the one who is about to save my empire?”
Oswald replies, “<There is a witness here in Gotham getting ready to testify against one of my business partners, and if I lose his business many of my other business partners could suffer>.”
Marcus says, “Send me the information.”
Oswald sends the information to Marcus on a specially encoded e-mail file and in a matter of minutes Marcus says, “I’ll put my best man on this. She’ll be gone by this time tomorrow"
Oswald replies, “<Excellent! Marcus I knew I could count on you. Thank you.>” Oswald hangs up the phone.
Oswald lights a Cuban cigar and takes a long drag. He then listens to various conversations within the room on hidden mics and video cameras.
Well I guess I better re-establish my alibi.
Oswald slips back into the room and carries on conversations that he was never a part of, but he is able to discuss details so clearly that people just accept that he was there the whole time.

.Character you wish to portray:
Ultimate Bane
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Villain
.Powers and physical attributes:
Genius intelligence, master strategist, experience with countless forms of weaponry, master martial artist, and peak human conditioning.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
A nameless child born into the infamously hellish prison of Peña Duro, in the small South American island country of Santa Prisca, miraculously survived the grueling pressures of life inside for as far as into his late teens, becoming hardened emotionally, physically, and intellectually before being rescued from such a life by a man who the Nameless One knew only as "The Demon." Never told why The Demon was so interested in him, the boy was trained by the League of Shadows, furthering both his scholarly and tactical studies, as well as rising to among the highest ranks of martial artists in the League, and perhaps the world. The Demon had grown to trust him over the many years of tutelage, and had even expressed his growing desire for the Nameless One to eventually become his heir and hopefully take his daughter, Talia's, hand in marriage at the time of his assuming such a role. Few things had ever brought a smile to the Nameless One's face. The Demon's offer, however, did.
After years of this training, the Nameless One took on a particularly special, and highly personal, long-term mission for the League of Shadows, involving going back to his home country of Santa Prisca and situating himself within its drug trade to take down the criminal operations from the inside. After five years of effort, the mission was a success and he finally left Santa Prisca to tell The Demon of his victory, only to find that his savior and the League of Shadows had disappeared and were presumed dead, and the love of Talia that he had been promised had been taken from this world shortly before his return.
Without anyone in the world to turn to, the man investigated what little remained of the League's temple, discovering that The Demon had found another candidate to become his heir, and that Talia had found love in the arms of a student who had come into The Demon's teachings not long after the Nameless One had left for Santa Prisca years ago. "Wayne" was this usurper's name. In learning these facts, the man finally found a name for himself; he would find this "Bruce Wayne," and would rob him of everything that he held dear - he would be the Bane of his existence, and finally break him into dust in his hands!
In the first season, we saw Bane slowly and systematically gaining control of various gangs and crime families in Gotham City, and making alliances with several others, such as Oswald Cobblepot and Richard Dragon. He also stalked the Batman during the nights, studying the movements of Gotham's Dark Knight and recognized them as belonging to an advanced student of the League of Shadows. Putting two and two together, Bane realized that Bruce Wayne was the Batman and further endeavored to end him. As the first season concluded, Bane and Batman finally met face to face and fought while carnage erupted around them at a Maroni Family wedding. As police began to close in on them, Bane made his escape from the scene and set about assuming command of the now leaderless Maroni crime family.
In the second season, it was revealed that Bane had been making a mockery of Batman by posing as the hero and massacring his own mob rivals. Bane eventually found himself on the run from the police after a corrupt forensic scientist named Jim Corrigan couldn't pay what he owed Bane's casinos. To save himself, Corrigan sold Bane's location to the police and the rival Syndicate. Ultimately surviving and enacting his vengeance, Bane made an example of Corrigan and wreaked havoc on an entire police station. It was during this assault that Bane met Edward Nygma and made a deal with the Detective to set a trap for Batman. Suffering a sort of crisis of faith from his hatred for the very city he wanted to control, Bane retreated to the wilderness outside of Gotham to find himself again and renew his convictions. On his return to Gotham City, Detective Nygma sprung the trap for Batman that they had set, leaving the Dark Knight injured and exhausted as he returned home that night... only to find Bane waiting for him.
Savagely beating Bruce Wayne to within an inch of his life, Bane finally chose to end their rivalry by throwing his hated foe off the balcony of Wayne's penthouse and down into the Gotham streets below.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
I played him throughout the first and second seasons and still have big plans for his future in the game. I love the character and I want to do what I can to get him away from the image of the steroid-pumping thug that every version of him outside the comics continually perpetuates.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
He's not addicted to venom and never has been, but like his counterpart in the regular DCU who got over his addiction to the drug (way back in 1995 :cmad:), Ultimate Bane's physical strength is still far above the norm. His backstory has also differed to include Ra’s Al Ghul in his scholarly studies and training, rather than Bane being entirely self-taught. In concordance with MB's version of Batman's origin, this also gives Bane a more personal reason for wanting to defeat and humiliate Batman, other than simply wanting to crush the symbol that the Bat represents (ala the mainstream Bane).
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
Dedication and a strong desire to keep this character going after seeing how much people seemed to enjoy it last season.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk23/Spike_x1/UDC%20RPG/bannertt6-1.jpg
I run. Through fields of green under a blue sky, twenty miles a day, I run.
Through a world I've never known.
The cabin where I have been in the mountains gives my the solitude I require for my meditation and exercise. My self-imposed exile is exactly what I have been needing lately, after my adventure with James Corrigan and the authorities, and my masquerade as Batman. The toll that those experiences took on me was more than I had anticipated; an unexpected hurdle in my intended path, and a course of self-indulgence to spite Wayne that I should have measured more carefully before following through with.
I had trained my whole life for this and my heart and mind are true to my cause, yet I strayed from the plan nevertheless. Why? Why did I allow myself to do so? It's true that there was nothing I could do to stop Corrigan from betraying my organization to the Syndicate and the GCPD, and it was beyond my control until it was too late, but I welcomed the challenge all the same. Likewise, it's accurate to say that my posing as Batman did much to sow seeds of distrust and hatred in the public and authorities' views of Wayne's alter ego; an intention parallel to my overall goal. But honestly, I did it to make a mockery of the man and everything that he stands for.
I was once above such petty behavior. This city, it is rotting me to my core, grating on my soul and corrupting me. Leaving my three lieutenants in temporary command, I have retreated to the wilderness to rediscover the strength to overcome this corruption. I will find it or I will die trying.
At night I swim for miles on a wine colored sea, deep and cold and dark. I have been awake for more than a week, and am on the brink of starvation, but I still have not found what I seek. Many men would have given up and gone home by now, but I will not allow myself to indulge in such weakness.
I am Bane. I endure.
Bringing my meditation to an end for tonight, I stand up and pause to feel the heat of the campfire in front of me. I try to remember what I fight for, remembering her smell and the smoothness of her skin. Her passion, in and out of combat, having gone missing from this world, leaves it a far darker place to live in. I fought for Talia once, and when I find myself, I will do so again.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Lucas Trent/ Midnighter
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes:
Lucas is a human with artificial enhancements. Each improvement gives him an array of abilities. Enhanced strength, speed, durability, coordination, reflexes, hearing, vision, and healing. Another abilities would be his tactical senses. Which allows him to detect any modifications or powers in anyone he looks at, as well as how they work so he can defeat them. He can detect what special abilities a opponent has. Out of all these abilities his most important is his battle Precongnition. Which gives him the ability to predict how a battle will happen before it begins. One of the upgrades include a fighting implant that has a combat computer that allows Lucas to run through a given combat situation millions of times in his mind, almost instantly covering nearly every possible result before the first punch is even thrown. He can use this information to predict the actions and reactions of his opponents, countering their moves almost before they can even think to make them. It also works by letting him see the outcome of the battle he wants and working backwards following the right steps to get there.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Lucas Trent is the son of Henry and Lela Trent, one of the brightest scientist for the US government. Lucas mother and father were known for developing mobile weapons that was operated through a combination of manual controls and cybernetic uplink. Their success left Lucas born with a sliver spoon in his mouth never needing for anything, but the love from his parents. Due to their busy schedules Lucas didn’t have a long time to get to know his mother before she was taken by cancer.
After the lost of his wife Henry Trent dropped his projects for the government to be a professor in order to spend more time with his son to make up for the void left in both of their hearts.
Even with just the love of his father, Lucas still seemed to be empty so while growing up he did any activity he could to find something to fill the gap in his chest. In high school he was on the chest team and also the debate team along with the football team. He graduated with high honors ahead of his class. Even with all these feats he didn’t find his true calling till the night he met true tragedy.
One night on his way home from a party with friends he heard the screams of a woman in danger. Most people would run in the opposite direction and call the authorities for help but Lucas had a different plan in mind. He fallowed the woman’s cry for help and came on the scene of a man trying to rape a helpless female. Without thinking he jumped on the unsavory character to rescue the woman. He and the man wrestled for a bit till Lucas finally ended up the victor. As the woman made her exit Lucas watched her with a sense of joy knowing she will be able to make it home to her love ones. While detracted he had heard a loud exploding sound as if someone fired a firecracker next to his ear. Lucas brought his attention down to his chest only to see a blood spot on his shirt expanding by the second. He then heard the same noise five more times. He dropped down to his knees as it finally had process he had been shot multiple times. He fell face first to the ground motionless in a pool of his own blood.
Someone in the area heard the gun shots and called 911, lucky for Lucas the ambulance made it before be bleed to death. When Lucas father made it to the hospital he was approached with bad news. Henry was informed that there was nothing left they could do for his son. This was the last thing he wanted to hear so he made some calls and pulled some favors from some friends he still had in the government. With the help of his friends Henry was able to do what the doctors couldn’t and that was save his son and it was all thanks to him and his wife’s research.
72 hours later Lucas had finally opened his eyes. Henry couldn’t have been happier to see his son finally awoke better than ever. When his son asked him what happened Henry lied to his son telling him that the doctors were able to save his life. He didn’t feel it was the correct time to tell him that he is no longer an average teenager.
Later after recovering Lucas began seeing his life in a different light. Things that used to give him joy seemed to night make sense to him any more and he didn’t know where this feeling came from. He went on a date with one of his friends from school. On the date he found out that the woman that he had got shot for was killed. He couldn’t believe it and had to find out what happened to her himself. That night he went to the lady apartment and while there he saw her killer, who to his surprise was the same man who left him laying his a pool of his own blood. He engaged his attacker and to his shock something amazing happened. He was able to take his aggressor down with little effort. He was able to predict the outcome before it happened.
Lucas went home that night and told his father what happened and that’s when he learned the truth about his recovery. His father told him about his mother’s research and told him the address of the warehouse that had everything his mother left behind. Lucas went to the warehouse and what he founded changed his life forever. The void that he had been feeling for so long began to fade as he finally realize what his calling was. Thanks to the all the military projects Lucas’s mother had work on and left in the warehouse he was left with a arsenal of weapons and armor which he can use to fight crime. But with all this he knew that he wouldn’t be able to do this alone so he found his friend Lonnie Machin. With his help they together protect the streets of Bludhaven.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Well i really liked what i started with the character. I feel that i still have alot more to do with him. His story has only begun and i have plans for a good arc for him to really embrace the word hero.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it beUltimate?: This version of Midnighter is a teenager and his back story is a lot different from the original.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Well i believe if i take my time like i did in the beginning I can come up with good stories and another hero and another rpger into the fold.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
Lucas walks over to the window looking outside on to the city. That night when he got shot he didn’t think he would ever see the view in front of his eyes ever again. That night will be something he will never forget. For the first time in a long time he felt as if the thing he was missing all along had been found. The downside to it is it almost cost him his life. He feels a tad disappointed to know he had a taste of something special only to give it up. For the first time in a long time Lucas feels as if he is back to step one.
As Lucas contemplates about his future his father makes his way to his son’s side.
“Lovely view huh son?” The view was more than lovely but with his son now alive and at home it made it that much better.
“Yea dad it is. It really helps me see this city for what it really is and that is an illusion.”
“Illusion? What do you mean?”
“Those bright lights and big buildings is nothing more than a front for what this city really is and that’s corrupt, when night falls on the city the crooked rules with no compassion. The sad thing is the police is just as corrupted as the criminals they throw in jail. These wrongdoers must know that their actions will no longer be tolerated. At this moment I don’t know how but I will bring justice to the injustice.”
Henry stood in astonishment by his son’s words. His son has no clue to what change he can now make thanks to his parents research. His father made the choice to not tell his son about his now enhanced abilities. The last thing he wants is for his son to end up how he did that night. But a strong feeling tells him it won't be long till his son finds out what has now happened to him. Once that moment comes Henry can only be there to support his son when he is needed.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm not really sure how to respond with the JLA situation right now.
I was under the impression that we were going to have an actual real meeting for the team and open up an official discussion of membership. But if we start heading out right this moment with a plan of action to fight the Legion of Doom, it pretty much immediately derails the idea of calmly sitting down to have a meeting and talk about League membership candidates, as was planned. I don't want to say "nah, those villains aren't going anywhere. Let's talk about that Green Lantern guy." And I also don't want to put the membership plans for the story on the backburner.
I'll support it if any other League members want to chime in, but right now, I got nothing.

No, see... this is how this is going to go down.
Midnighter, Supergirl, Robin and Superboy are going to form Ultimate Young Justice, kick the Legion of Doom's ass, then kick the Justice League's ass for holding meetings or press conferences instead of straight ass whoopin'.
Then they'll go for pizza.
Then the guys will kick Supergirl out, because Ultimate Young Justice is not an equal opportunity employer and they can't let some random broad bring down the level of their game.
Then afternoon cartoons will come on and Superboy won't care until a commercial break.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Thaal Sinestro
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking the Line
.Powers and physical attributes: Sinestro alone has no superhuman abilities, but he is in possession of a Galactic Lantern Corps ring which amplifies his willpower to give him the ability of interstellar travel, construct construction, force fields, and all manner of powers.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Thaal Sinestro has been a Galactic Lantern as long as anyone can remember. He's served dutifully, and has become a legend in his own right, so much so that his influence amongst the other Lanterns rivals that of Ganthet, the last remaining Guardian, himself.
But Sinestro has often butted heads with the Guardians and their rules. So much so that after the destruction of the Guardians, Ganthet refused to put him on the council.
Sinestro has distinguished himself time and time again, but possibly his greatest moment was leading the Corps in their greatest moment of darkness. When William Hand, now known as Black Hand, one of the Corps former, and greatest, members tried to initiate the Blackest Night Prophecy, Sinestro rallied the remaining Corps members in a desperate charge against Hand and his undead horde.
For this, he was raised to an almost god-like status, and is now slowly becoming disenfranchised with the Corps antiquated ways and beliefs.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Sinestro has been the character I've become fascinated with since becoming familiar with the Green Lantern Corps. He's very similar to Magneto to me. He does questionable things for reasons he believes are the complete right way to go. That alone is a great reason.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, we'll see him dealing with the other members of the Corps dealing with the impurities right before his eyes, instead of him being the one initiating the changes. The repercussions for this experimentation will raise Sinestro to his highest pedestal...and will also lead to his greatest fall.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: The Lantern Corps and their stories. As of now we have no PC'ed Lanterns, and that needs to change. Also, I think I've got a good story to tell here.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
I sit here and stew in my quarters while the fools practice trying to control the impurities that have plagued our forces since the beginning of time. Or so we've always thought. Larfleeze's plea to Ganthet and the council may have led to this experimentation, but the fools' eyes haven't been opened.
They know not what they have started. By giving these...powers to those that are not worthy, they will unleash a devastation even greater than what William Hand did to us all those months ago.
But I will be prepared. I'll make sure my soldiers are prepared as well. I will not stand by and watch the Corps light go out in the Universe due to the foolish and short sited minds of these fools.
"Lanterns," I call to those I know are loyal to me, "I require a meeting."

Hey gotta couple of questions:
1)I'm thinking of moving The Atom away from the U-N assignment in the next post, and from there having her go on the Sword of The Atom arc, and just have her decide to leave the League and go on vacation is wrong. So i've got an idea on how to get her going on this arc. It's something that I've been planning since mid-season 2, and I'm pretty well ready to move forward with it. This arc is something that will get her out of the "wide-eyed" and feeling like a 2nd tier hero into a state of being a more assertive hero.
2) I still plan on using Giganta this year, however a lot of her is tied to Lex. So I was wondering if it would be possible for Lex to re-assign her to being his liasion/represenative to the Legion Of Doom?

I just wanted to make sure I didn't step on any toes or anything like that. I have a lot of respect for the opinions of the people in our RPGS...and you all are some amazing people to play alongside. You all make these RPGS worth the while.
This arc isn't going to have characters with any connection to the DC Universe. Rhiannon/Atom is going to meet people from another universe/dimension...and once she is done with that arc she will never see them again...(so I don't have to worry about bunnying any potential characters that others may apply for)...this is basically "Rhiannon in Wonderland"
I'll be getting something in the IC thread very soon.

Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Jonah Hex
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: WTL
.Powers and physical attributes: No powers, but Hex is an expert tracker and hunter, as well as an excellent shot with guns.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Jonah Hex was born in 1980 and abandoned as a newborn at the Black Cherry Indian Reservation in New Mexico. All that as known about the baby was the name pinned to his diaper: Jonah Hex. He was taken in by a local family. Hex was a favorite of the family's patriarch and reservation chief, Thomas Eagle Feather. Eagle Feather taught Hex how to hunt, shoot, and track a wide variety of animals.
While Hex lived with the Eagle Feather family, the Black Cherry Reservation was slowly withering away around them. The poor Native Americans who lived there were leaving their once proud homeland to seek jobs elsewhere, those that stayed behind were old men and drunks. Thomas Eagle Feather, seeing his beloved reservation crumbling, succumbed to alcoholism and became a violent abuser as the years went on. When Hex turned 18, he left the reservation never to return.
Unable to find work off the reservation, Hex joined the Army. Despite his disabilities, his eyesight in his one good eye was perfect, easily making up for his blind right eye. Hex served as a corporal in the Army, under Company CO Jack Turnbull. After 9/11, Hex's regiment was dispatched to Afghanistan. While there in 2005, Hex stumbled upon Turnbull raping and torturing a young Afghan girl. Hex and Turnbull fought, with Turnbull permanently disfiguring Hex in the fight. Using his assault rifle, Hex shot the man dead. He lied about the circumstances of Turnbull's death, saying the Afghan girl killed Turnbull with his own gun while he watched. Hex was dishonorably discharged from the Army and came back to America, unsure of what to do and where to go.
It was while he was in Kentucky, drowning his troubles into a bottle that he found the answer. He was at a bar one night when he saw a man arrested by a bounty hunter. After a lot of thought and consideration, Hex went about applying for a bounty hunter's license.
Now, six years later, Hex roams across the country on his motorcycle, seeking out only the highest risk and highest paying bounties. His name has become feared among those wanted by authorities, because they know that sooner or later, Hex will find them.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
I've always enjoyed Jonah Hex. I just had this idea at the end of last seasn and I started working it out in my head. I just want to try and tell a story that I like with a character I like.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
For starters, Hex is operating in the 21st century. The man is the same, just the background has changed around him. I want to tell a modern day western. I also want to try and bring in some of the other DC Western characters and do a new version of the classic Hex storyline featuring Turnbull.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A good RPer with a love of westerns and maybe a good story.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:

The dive bar seems to come to a halt as I walk through the door. Twelve people, twenty-four angry eyes all on me. The bar is filled with what you would expect: tattooed gang-bangers, smokehounds who have long since traded any kind of brains they may have had for the bottle, and then there's him.
I walk through the bar and sit down at the poker table where he's playing five-card draw with a fat Latino who has gang tats on his chubby arms.
"Come in and ante up," he says, still looking down at the cards. "I gotta tell you, I am hot to..." He trails off as soon as he looks up and sees my face.
"Problem?"
"Yeah...you're face. What happened to it?"
"I don't think you're in a position to talk about my face, Chato."
His face goes to stone and he stares at me impassively.
"Remind me again, how do I know you?"
"You don't, but I know you. Chato Santana, wanted on at least six counts of drug trafficking, malicious mayhem, and assault with a deadly weapon. Oh, and let's not forget jumping your bail."
The whole room is so tense, I can feel everyone looking at us, looking at me is more like it. Any sudden moves, and I'm dead.
"You know, you gotta lot of balls coming in here, pendejo. I'll give you that. So, you a cop or just some pathetic idiot who gets his kicks by pretending to be one of those stupid ass superheroes?"
"Bounty hunter, Chato, I'm a bounty hunter. You're coming with me."
From behind my back, I hear what sounds like six or seven guns having their triggers pulled back.
"What makes you think I'll go along? I got my boys with me."
I motion under the table and be bends down to look.
"Well, you either come with me...."
He sees the big revolver in my right hand under the table, pointed at his crotch
"...or I'll make sure that the two boys you're most attached to are no longer 'with you' if you understand me."

Coast City, California

Sounds good to me! The "Sword of Atom" arc is down to it's concluding post.
Sorry if at times it was long-winded (I didn't want the arc to go all-season so I did a lot in each posts) and didn't make a lot of sense for her, but this experience is going to have a maturing effect on Rhiannon.
She is no longer going to feel like because she is only 6 inches most of the time that she is some kind of freak or she has to prove herself, but that she is now an equal with her JL members.

In terms of the Legion of Doom...Atom told J'onn what she discovered in terms of how the Boom-tube works and that she believes the driving force behind the Legion is alien...nothing about her adventure...that is for later.
Atom will soon have to deal with a Super-Villain chasing her down to get her back into the swing of things.
Again Thanks.

.Character you wish to portray: Grodd
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain
.Powers and physical attributes: Grodd has incredible strength more than the average gorilla. He also has genius level intelligence and psionic abilities. Among those abilities force beams and telekinesis and mind control.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Grodd is part of an advanced alien race called the Reslars whose home planet was destroyed after years of interstellar war. The Reslars landed in secret on Earth and vowed that they would not pursue war on their new home and renounced their violent ways. However they viewed humans too intellectually immature and crude in their relationships to each other, so they felt it best hide in plain sight by transferring their consciousness into that of gorillas. They would maintain their intelligence and psionic powers but that would be all, and they would stay hidden until they felt the humans were ready to be in relationship with them. One gorilla was not ready to give up his violent ways: Grodd. He felt the humans were perfect to be dominated and that they should rule this planet. Grodd tried many times to rally others to his cause, but none would follow him. The Council tried many times to reform Grodd but all attempts failed. Finally they exiled Grodd into the wild and erased his memory of Gorilla City and took away his intellect and powers. Grodd lived among the other Gorillas in the jungle until he was captured and taken to Star-Labs in Central City and used for experiments. His handlers name him Abraham and he is very docile. Every now and then though Grodd would have flashes in his memory of Gorilla City and his former self. Until one visit from Brainiac changed everything….(Sample post will pick up there.)
.The burning question - Why this character?: He has never been played in the Ultimate Universe, and he is interesting character with some interesting issues that can make for some good RPGing.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Grodd is an alien and not 100% gorilla. While he does hate humanity he doesn’t hate all of it he has a respect for Luthor, Savage, and other members of the Legion of Doom. He has a genuine hatred for The Flash for reasons other than just because he’s a human.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Been here since the start and I like to believe I’ve brought more positives to this RPG than negatives.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
The cage cleaner Tim Jenkins comes into the cage. Tim begins to taunt him as he always does.
Tim says, “Come on Abraham! Show me what you got! Come on super ape! BOO!”
He laughs as he says, “Super ape? Yeah right! Scary Ape is more like it!”
Abraham covers up and cowers as Tim cleans the cage and leaves.
Abraham looks at a drawing of an advanced city and he hears a voice in his head, “It is an impressive achievement in technology.”
Abraham shakes his head. He hears someone but can’t see them. The voice continues, “Do not worry I am inside your head it is the only way I can communicate with you. My name is Brainiac and I want to help you.”
Brainiac says, “Do you feel that you were meant for something greater? That this is not the life you were born into?”
Abraham nods his head slowly and Brainiac says, “I can help you with all of those issues and so much more. I can even help you get back to where you belong to rule. However you must help me as well.”
Brainiac says, “I will restore your intellect and abilities, but you will have no true memories of Gorilla City for now. That will come once the Justice League has been vanquished and humanity is under the control of the Legion of Doom. You will be loyal to the Legion and in no way harm them though they are humans; most of them. You will feel a bond with them and want to serve alongside them. Any attempt to harm them and I will destroy your intellect and take away your powers. Do we have a deal?”
Abraham nods slowly and Brainiac says, “Very well rise now then Gorilla Grodd, and begin your conquest.”
Grodd begins to convulse and then suddenly stops. He opens his eyes and he squints in anger.
Just then Tim re-enters the cage throwing a barrel of food and says, “Hey scary ape here’s your supper!”
Grodd rises with a look of anger and growls very low.
Tim says, “Hey Abraham what gives?”
Grodd says, “Abraham is gone you foolish bag of flesh! I am Grodd!”
Tim says, “Hey you can talk!?!?”
Grodd uses his speed and jumps in front of the door and says, “Of course I can fool!”
Tim says, “Hey I was just kidding! Come on now you’re an ape you’re supposed to take these with a grain of salt!”
Grodd knocks Tim across the cage and says, “Ha ha. I fail to see the humor in you, but I see it as a whole in your species!”
Tim is now cowering as Grodd approaches and asks, “What do you want from me? An apology!”
Grodd replies, “No I don’t want an apology from you. I want one thing from you.”
Tim asks, “What’s that?”
Grodd gets in his face and growls, “To die!”
Grodd then procceds to pummel Tim to death and uses Tim’s key-card to escape.

New app, barring any objection from Andy, who I've PMed about this.
THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: The Changeling
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: The Changeling has the ability to take the form of any animal that he has seen in print or in person. While in animal form, Changeling retains his human intelligence and the ability of speech, as well as gaining all the abilities of the animal he has become. Each transformation takes merely the blink of an eye, and he can change from one animal to another just as quickly.
His ever-shifting bio structure also grants him a powerful healing factor, as well as peak-human strength, speed, and agility in his default human-like form.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): The teenager known as The Changeling was born in a government laboratory as the first and only successful birth in the Animalia Project, which was designed to make the ultimate soldier, able to survive any terrain by tapping into the abilities of the animals residing in said area. The genetically crafted child was born with green skin and hair for unknown reasons, and was never named, other than Changeling.
He was raised on a secret government facility, and it was obvious that the boy was easy going and intelligent, even from a very early age. However, as his powers began to manifest, it was clear the scientists of the project had made a mistake. Changeling did not merely access the powers of the animals he thought of, he actually transformed into a green version of that animal.
Still, the science team continued tests on the boy, trying to isolate the ability to gain the attributes of the animals rather than the form itself. After a time, the boy realized he was no longer the favored son, and it was obvious he was going to be replaced at some point. His easy going nature, while intact, he hid from the scientists, becoming a lonely recluse in the station, only interacting with others during his many scientific tests.
Now, Changling, a sixteen year old boy, yearns to escape to the outside world and to meet friends that he has never had. He may also discover that there is more to his power than merely the science that brought him into this world.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Well, I was looking for a character I could really take a hold of. It didn't work out too well with Cyborg and Boy Blue, and has worked with Sinestro. I think this can be another character I can latch onto. I like his outlook in life, and fits with my writing style.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, first of all it gets rid of the dumb "got bit by a monkey" origin I've always found laughable, and turns Changeling/Beast Boy into a military science experiment. It will drive him to be even more of an outsider, having no parents and being raised in basically a lab his entire life to this point. But he'll still be a fairly happy-go-lucky guy once he gets acclimated into the real world.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Another member of the Teen Titans, and what I hope will be an interesting journey of discovery.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
I swing from tree to tree, getting my fun in for the day. I've always loved being a gorilla. It's probably my favorite transformation so far. The raw power and size I gain with it is amazing to me, and yet I'm agile enough to climb as high as I can in my out-door yard.
Climbing to the highest tree in the pen, I peer out into the blue sky, wondering what else is out there. Sure I've read the history books they gave me. I know what the world looks like out there and how to got to the point the human race is now. But I don't know what the people are like. I don't know what it's like to ride a roller coaster or kiss a girl. And for that, I hate it here.
"Changeling," one of the scientists calls from the PA system in the outdoor area. "We need you for your daily tests, son."
Son. How dare they. I'm not their son. I'm a product of science. Calling me anything different is an insult. An insult I won't stand for much longer.
"Be right down!" I call back, changing into a flying squirrel and floating down to the grassy land below.

As much as I want to see Beast Boy brought in (especially now that I'm getting the ball rolling on the Teen Titans), there's a bit of a continuity snag we'd have to address:
Beast Boy (or at least 'Gar Logan,' since I don't think he was actually called by his codename) was already used briefly back in season 1, when he and Red Hood fought Deathstroke. It said they were former lab partners back in college, which would make him roughly the same age as Jason Todd, i.e. way too old to be on the Teen Titans.
Way I see it, there are three options:
1) Make Carnage change his app, which would be disappointing because I like his app.
2) Retcon out Gar's last appearance, which is a cardinal no-no in UDC 2.
3) Do the movie-Sabretooth approach and say that there are two guys, one who goes by Gar Logan, and the other by Changeling/Beast Boy.

I vote Option 3.

02-08-2012, 03:46 PM
Yeah, I think option 3 is probably the way to go, especially because Carnage's app doesn't actually call Changeling Garfield, and Syn's Garfield was never called Changeling or BB. In fact, since both of them are apparently military experiments, you could say the one that created Changeling was based off of the serum that was used on Gar.
Carnage27

(or at least 'Gar Logan,' since I don't think he was actually called by his codename)
That explains why nothing came up when I searched for Beast Boy.
Maybe if that list on the first page was up to date....:oldrazz:
3) Do the movie-Sabretooth approach and say that there are two guys, one who goes by Gar Logan, and the other by Changeling/Beast Boy.
This works perfectly, and actually gives me an idea for a story thread.

*ahem*
The Legion of Doom has made their debut and caused a few acts of terrorism around the world, as well as put a bazillion dollar bounty on the heads of any members of the Justice League. We're all pretty much doing our own thing right now and telling our own stories, and the occasional supervillain will pop up and try to cash in on the bounties. So the overarching plot of the LoD is still looming in the shadows, but there hasn't been any big climactic showdown yet.

Here's the app that MB did for him way back when. (http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=17677897&postcount=1167) I can't remember if he ever posted as the character, though. MB really does leave that little of an impression.
The only specifics that I can personally recall off the top of my head regarding J'onn was that he pitched in to defend Earth from Starro, but then traveled to Mars for a few moments of introspection as that season ended. And then, as the most recent season ended, MM was apparently still on Mars, but was instrumental in using his telepathy to help break various members of the Justice League free from the psychic control of Dr. Destiny.
And then Superman invited J'onn to dinner at the Kent farm whenever he could find the time as part of my season finale post.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Charles Victor Sage/The Question
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: Q has no powers, no exceptional physical attributes, nor does he have much combat training. But what he lacks in physical skill, he makes up for with a razor sharp detective mind.
Plus, his dick is bigger than Batman's.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Born in 1979 and originally from Hub City, Michigan, Charles Victor Sage had a normal childhood and bounced around from job to job after leaving high school. He was working as a security guard in Opal City when he saw a job opening for the Gotham City Police Department. 18 year old Vic moved to Gotham and applied for the job. Vic worked as a patrolman in the Eastern District. During that time he met Amy Brown, an attorney, at the district house. Vic and Amy went out for two years and eventually married.
Shortly after being married Vic was promoted to detective and joined the GCPD's Sexual Victims Unit downtown. After a successful tenure in SVU, Vic applied for and was granted a transfer to Homicide.
His time in Homicide was legendary. He posted a 92% clearance rate with a 98% conviction rate. As much as he enjoyed the work, he began to see the ugly side of the job. Corruption ran deep inside the department, and it slowly ate at Vic. He worked longer and longer hours until Amy finally divorced him. Three years ago Vic was involved in a murder case, a man had murdered his ten year old stepson. Vic knew the man did it, but he didn't have enough evidence for an arrest. Finally fed up with his job and life, he decided to step outside the law to get the job done. Putting on a ski-mask, Vic broke into the man's house and beat him until he promised to confess. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done.
A week later, Q was chasing down a lead on another case when came across a storage unit filled with stolen supplies from STAR labs. Among the things in the storage unit was a filled with something known as Pseudoderm, a skin-like substance that can be molded and shaped.
Using the Pseudoderm to form a mask, Vic decided to follow in the footsteps of other masked crime fighters and become one of them. Using a plain suit and tie with a fedora, Vic became The Question. A mostly successful masked vigilante.
Fast forward three years later.
Now Vic is no longer on the force, he quit in disgust after realizing he was a pawn in Lt. Edward Nygma's grab for power. Now Vic works as a private investigator while he moonlights as a freelance reporter for the Gotham Gazette and keeps things going as The Question. Recently, he worked freelance for the FBI and helped them bring down Nygma for his crimes. In addition, as the Question he's currently working with a trio of Gotham heroes to keep the East End from tearing itself apart.
.The burning question - Why this character?: I loved playing Vic and I think that my take on him is pretty unique. I want him back!
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Different backstory and a different take on the character. There...happy?! :cmad:
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: More Batman fanfics!
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
The East End
2:15 AM
"People are strange, when you're a stranger. Faces look ugly when you're alone. Women seem wicked when you're unwanted, streets are uneven when you're down..."
"What are you singing," the girl beside me on the rooftop asked. Tonight's the first time in a long time I actually have a partner. You couldn't tell it from her youth and goofy costume, but Batgirl is a righteous asskicker.
"Just singing the Doors," I said, sticking my hands into my jacket pockets and stopping at the edge of the roof. "I thought Hood said this part of the town was bad?"
"He did, but-"
Batgirl stops short as the sounds of struggle and gunshots fill the air.
"There it is. Let's go, Jailbait."
"Wait. What did you just call me?"
"Jailbait," I said with a shrug, pulling my .45 from its shoulder holster. "It's a term of endearment."
"Are you really going to use that gun? I thought the Batman didn't like people using guns."
"Well, he's not here. Plus, the bullets are rubber."
"It'd-"
"Is this about that rumor that I shot myself in the chest with my own gun? Okay, so it was more of a glancing blow instead of a straight up point-blank shot. Still, I barely got hit and I did not pee my pants! I spilled a soda on my lap earlier! That's all it was!"
"...I was going to say that it would be best to keep the safety on until we get there. I noticed it was off when you pulled your gun out."
"Oh..."
Batgirl and I stood in silence for a few moments before I flipped the safety on.
"Let's go, Jailbait."
"Right behind you, Captain Pee Pants."
With that, both Batgirl and I leaped off the roof and down into the action below.

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Red Hood/Jason Todd
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking The Line
.Powers and physical attributes: Superb combatant and athlete, above-average intelligence of the criminal and general human psyche, a wealth of mid-level resources, keen marksmanship.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Witnessing his prize-fighting father beaten to death at a young age, Jason Todd honored his father's wishes for him to become a supreme physical fighter and trained himself to withstand the limits of average physical endurance. Taking head of his household and looking after his mother, who valued his intelligence, Jason dutifully worked to enroll in Gotham State University with a keen interest in psychology, looking to quell a rage that had built itself inside of him after the death of his father. But the rage only grew when the evil of Gotham claimed his mother aswell, learning that she had been killed during a botched robbery. Blaming criminal society as a whole for the loss of both of his parents, individually, he worked to extract revenge by becoming a psychologist at the very institution his mother's killer was placed in to avoid jailtime - Arkham Asylum.
It was during this transitional period that Jason met and befriended Bruce Wayne during study in Ivy Tech for his master's degree. Wayne had been stricken with similar tragedy in his youth, but unlike Jason, saw no real interest in allowing himself to emotionally grow. Determined not to let himself be swept up in vengeance, Jason graduated with top honors and succeeded in his goal. As an understudy of Dr. Jerimiah Arkham, he was granted the opprotunity to become a master of the criminal psychology and look to treat Gotham's deranged. But seeing that the system was far too flawed, he decided that he had to tap into the rage that had spurn him through his youth and adopt another identity to fight against it's evil. With a large sum of money earned off of his mother's life insurance policies, Jason Todd became The Red Hood.
But his ideals were also shared by a young socialite who had returned to Gotham after seven years abroad. Becoming The Batman, he and Red Hood initially clashed before discerning eachother's identities. Realizing that Batman was in reality, his college friend Bruce Wayne, the two developed a loose partnership that deteriorated after they realized the other's style of crimefighting didn't match. So with a developed loyalty, they drifted apart, seperately becoming the city's protectors. While developing his new life, Jason met and began to date Dr. Harleen "Harley" Quinzell. But his double life led to complications in their relationship, resulting in a troubled history that never seemed to improve.
Establishing himself as a vigilante with his own rules, Red Hood became a quiet menace to the mob while Batman became their primary focus. Differing with The Dark Knight on many subjects, an attack perpetrated by a criminal calling himself The Joker led to their falling out for a time. During this, he took an interest in a young girl looking to emulate Batman, seeing much of himself in her desperate quest for recognition. Deciding to help her establish herself, Red Hood approached Barbara Gordon with the offer of a lifetime - join his mission and learn the tricks of the trade. They now fight alongside eachother as Red Hood and Batgirl, as Jason tries to fix his life in the midst of a nightly obsession that has helped tear apart many of his relationships.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Well, with Batman in a coma and Gotham going to absolute hell in his abscence, somebody needed to step up and fill the void that Bruce left. My character arc with Selina pretty much proved that Catwoman can't be the hero Gotham deserves, so the question is left with Jason on whether or not Red Hood can. To pick him up seemed like a natural progression and one that I had planned for a couple of months, after it became clear that Syn wasn't coming back anytime soon. And I have plans to take Jason's character to the next level. He won't end this season as the same man.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: During Syn's epic run with the character, he established several differences. Some could even call this version of Jason completely different from his mainstream DCU counterpart - he was never Robin, and never trained under Batman in any capacity. Infact, he's the closest thing that Bruce has to a friend and gained his skills as a crimefighter under his own means. Jason's roughly the age of his later iteration, Winnick's version, when he starts out and becomes one of Gotham's premier vigilantes as Red Hood rather than an all-out villain. One of the biggest changes Syn made was that Jason's working as a psychiatrist, and is able to read people based off of that skill. So theoretically, he's much smarter and more cunning than the normal Jason Todd. Oh, and there's the whole thing about, y'know. Him dying at The Joker's hand and whatnot. That never happened in this universe. Quite the opposite, infact...
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A renowned love for the Batman mythos as a whole, and a great respect for the work that Syn brought in the season and a half that he was with us.
.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:
"Please don't kill me! I-I'll do anything you want! Please!"
I'm getting real tired of this same old routine.
Rustling up some feathers, putting the scare into a couple of small timers. Where the hell does it get me? Just more of the same. The number of minnows in a sea full of cods is practically astounding. I knew that whenever I roped up this clown, Vinnie "Lightfoot" Romero, for a simple extraction of information that he holds pertaining to my latest case. The murder of a smalltown girl that just happened to find herself on the wrong side of a big town. Angela Ferrera, 19. Still can't get the mental image of her lifeless corpse sprawled out across that filthy rat's apartment. But that's all about to be vindicated, because Romero holds the missing link that could bridge the evidence that the police overlooked in their piss-poor example of an investigation.
Almost a shame to do this, really. Romero was the only member of Salvatore Valestra's drug racketeering beat to have gotten out of jailtime. The little weasel fled the scene whenever a raid sent the rest of his boys off to Stonegate. From the intel I gathered earlier, he was actually on his way out of town. Lucky for me he happened to take a wrong turn into the back alleyway of his apartment complex, because without his testimony, Ferrera's killer might very well walk out of court.
Not a chance. Not if I have anything to say about it.
I practically tear off the tie wrapped around this panicing little smear's neck, as I pull him close enough to watch him feel me breathe. His skin begins to perspire as I begin my sentence with a whisper, only to end it in a growl.
"If you value your godforsaken life, you'll shut up and listen closely, Romero."
Reaching into my jacket, I pull out the only photograph of Angela from the GCPD database. Happens to be from her high school prom. The irony of her innocence is barely lost on me as I shove it in Romero's face.
"This girl was seen covorting with one of your associates the other night. Two days later and she's found beaten, strangled, and naked on his couch. Now your boy Thomas Kitchner is facing life for first degree murder, but my inside sources tell me that some of his friends might throw the jury with some pretty convienient evidence that could be presented the judge by morning."
Romero weakly manages a smile, even though the color in his face is lost from the lack of oxygen.
"What can I say? GCPD's record ain't exactly perfect,"
His smile is gone after I lean in with a right hook, instantly breaking his two front teeth.
"Neither is your's. I've seen your work in photography before, and believe me when I say that your people aren't exactly masters of photographic doctoring. It may get you by the judge, you may even convince the jury. But don't think for a damn second that I'm going to be fooled by,"
I grab his front pocket and shake. And what do you know, a stack full of explict photographs come falling out that seem to show Angela Ferrera in a variety of poses from that night. But it doesn't take a genius to tell me something's off.
"These. If your moronic hide actually still tries to pass these off as legitimate tomorrow morning, you're going to find yourself in a world of trouble. You and Kitchner both."
I cut the line and let him fall back down onto the asphalt, just a mere few feet below the fire escape I was suspending him from. His back hits the ground hard enough to practically make me smile. From below, as he groans in pain, Romero looks up to still see me watching him.
"#$%^ YOU! YOU AIN'T GOT AUTHORITY! I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THIS *%^& FROM YOU!"
"Oh?"
I leer over him. "And where you gonna turn to, Vinnie? The cops? Your pals? Or maybe you were thinking of pleading your sorry case to The Syndicate. Truth be told, I'd gladly welcome whatever you've got coming my way. Because at this point, I know exactly how this is gonna end."
Firing my line, I swing up into the darkness and leave him to ponder his next few actions.
"Wise up and see it for yourself. You don't need to lose the rest of those teeth."

Talking with some people last night and I think there's one thing we don't do anymore that really would be beneficial. Giving feedback and properly reading other people's posts. Everyone wants to know what people think of their work, especially if it's good. Used to be, people would comment in the OOC thread about an individual post.
That really never happens anymore and it's kind of turned things for games into disjointed fanfics. We're not posting in a vacuum, tell each other what you think. I'm as guilty of this as others, but I think if we all take the time to read and give feedback, it encourages folks to keep up the good work. Everyone wants to be appreciated.

Because I don't really want Bane to be quite the UDC equivalent of Osama, I'm gonna defuse some of the horror of what he's doing by saying that the immediate area around Wonder Tower is largely depopulated from the riots. Limit casualties. He's only trying to make a statement to Gotham by destroying a big empty iconic building, not necessarily trying to kill as many people as possible (hence, why I specified an implosion instead of an explosion, and why it's nighttime and no tourists or employees are in the tower).

Now that MB and I are done with our team-up, I'm gonna drop Q. Mostly picked him up to help MB out of the current jam he was in, so there ya bastard! :cmad:

So yeah, after many months of not being able to get into the story I was telling, I'm going to drop Aquaman. Maybe I'll pick him back up in a point in the future, but I doubt it. As a replacement, I present a character I've been thinking of playing for awhile...
THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG
Character Application
.Character you wish to portray: Spartan (John Colt)
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking The Line
.Powers and physical attributes: Advanced cybernetic systems and limited replication of superhuman abilities. As an android with superior technological advancements, Spartan also possesses the abilities of self-repair, superhuman strength, advanced cloaking, energy projection that can create limited hard constructs, flight, and enhanced senses.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): In the late 1950's, the Vietnam War broke out in Cambodia and forced then-soldier Jacob Marlowe and his brother, Jack Marlowe, to enter into the fray and prevent communists from overtaking South Vietnam. The mission and Jacob's strike was a success, but at the cost of his brother's life, who was gunned down by enemy forces by distracting an oncoming fleet so that their troops could escape unharmed. Jacob buried his brother back in the United States and tried to move on, forever torn with guilt over Jack's demise after promising to look after him. This guilt continued well throughout the better part of thirty years, when Marlowe retired from active service and inherited the Halo Corporation - a multi-billion conglomerate that was, ironically, meant to fund peaceful modern alternatives to all-out warfare.
But as the times changed, so did Halo's initiative. In the 90's, Marlowe himself allowed the company to transform into yet another weapons' supplier, aiding in the Gulf War and eventually the struggles with Afghanistan, becoming the primary defense contract for the United States military above both Waynetech and Lexcorp. But in the back of his head, Marlowe had always known that Halo was meant for greater things than building guns and explosives. He employed some of the top scientists in the world to develop new ways of fighting in the trenches, but it wasn't enough to cleanse Halo's slate of bloodshed. So using the memory of his brother as a benchmark, Marlowe heavily pursued the breakthrough research of Professor Anthony Ivo - creator of the failed 'Amazo' experiment.
Convincing Ivo to work with Halo to invent a better Amazo, Marlowe initiated the creation of Project Spartan: using the likeness and renowned combat strategies of his late brother as the template for the new android. Around the time of it's final stages of development, Marlowe was contacted by General Wade Eiling for a privatized operation that only Halo could help bring together. The Justice League had just made their prescence known to the world at large, and the United States Government wanted to form their own response. Oblivious to the prescence of Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad, a black-ops team that had already become tainted by misuse and corruption, Marlowe agreed to finance and assemble the team, outfitted with Halo's weapons.
On March 30th, 2012, Project Spartan was officially brought online. And it was just in time for him to become apart of the assembling of the Halo Corporation's newest assigned project - Team WILDCAT.
.The burning question - Why this character?: After discovering The WildC.A.T.S. and the original run for Image Comics, I was intrigued at the prospect of remaking them for a modern setting. The original team dealt heavily with aliens and alot of other convulted stuff, so the opportunity to simplify it down and basically present the team as the Government's alternative to the Justice League seemed like something neat to play around with. Plus, as Spartan, I get to play around with alot of character aspects that have helped build some of my favorite characters to make him stand out from his original interpretation.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, in alot of ways, this version of the team is alot more streamlined compared to the comics. No alien backstory, no former team of warriors to make up the current alignment, and no established goal of simply fighting against an extraterrestrial threat. If I had to compare my version of the WildC.A.T.S. to any other existing comic book team, it would be The Ultimates: big personalities brought together for the good of the modern world, to do the jobs that America wants them to do. In terms of Spartan himself, I added in the idea that he's essentially Amazo 2.0, able to study and adapt himself to the physiology of other superhumans to become more advanced.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Byrd has all-but mastered the art of multiple-NPC'ed teams, so I'm going to try and ride his coattails by establishing a rapour with the group and bringing a bigger sense of these characters inhabiting a larger DCU. Also, I make a mean flapjack.

The birth of Project Spartan
It's not like I could have known I'd begin my life through a stream of data.
While it's true that no human actually remembers their own birth, even at a young age, my genesis as a creation did not begin with conception within an embryo after two individuals came to mate. My birth - the beginning of my life, and my creation - began with the scribblings of a scientist on a piece of scrapping paper. My first words were always going to be a sequence of numbers, not fully-fledged letters combined into something of meaning. My first memory? It would always be as crisp and as clear of a recollection as the present. Like it were always happening infront of me, rather than a distant flash of something that either could or could not be accurate. Even the concept of parentage is a limited and radically different concept when applied to my existence, compared to that of humans and animals. In my relatively short lifespan of twenty-six days old, I've always had more in common with a plant than a living organism. I've been told that this is an accurate perception of self.
And that, as impossible as it may seem, terrifies me.
The metal coils around my wrist begin to slide back, and the darkness is replace with an intense light. I am being held within what they've called "The White Room" - a place of solitary confinement, for some. But given that I can hear through these walls, I have come to realize that this is not confinement for me. This is storage. I am merely considered a tool to them, at this stage of my existence. To be put away whenever they deem me worthy of use. It doesn't matter to them that my first three days on Earth were spent within a psychiatrict ward, processing the fact that I was not the man I woke up believing myself to be. I am not Jack Marlowe.
I don't even have a name.
"And how are we feeling today?"
My head tilts upward at the voice coming from the intercom. The intercom, they call it. Not simply the walls speaking to me, as I suggested on the first day. At first, I don't know how to react. I simply stare back, wondering if this is another one of their tests. It doesn't even occur to me to stand up from the metal slab that I was placed upon after the training seminar - the one where I decimated everything in sight and apparently destroyed thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
I'm still getting used to the idea that I even have the capability to destroy.
"I..."
The question intrigues me. Feel. How do I feel?
I could say I feel nervous.
Angry.
Saddened.
Relieved.
Any number of emotions.
But I look at my arm and notice that beneath the artificial skin, I can still see portions of a metal exoskeleton. It is no less real than the claim that I am a living man. Would admitting to these emotions be just as artificial as the face I'm wearing?
"I cannot."
From behind the wall, a door slides open and a well-dressed elderly man steps forth. I have to lie to myself to be able to not be overcome with emotion. This man, I once believed, was my brother. Instead, I have been taught that he is simply my handler. The maker of my destiny, of which I have no control.
"Congratulations,", Jacob Marlowe tells me, trying to hide the disdain in his voice. "You've passed the first test. You've realized what you truly are. Now we can begin."
I don't smile. I don't frown. Infact, I don't react at all.
The man is lost. I've become the machine.
I've become Project Spartan.
